We went to the Central Park West location and the staff acted like we were bothering them despite having a reservation. The food was good but I don't think it was so good that it warrants the staff acting as if they are doing me a favor "allowing" me to eat in their restaurant. Truthfully, there are some nice diners that might feel less hectic, rushed and pretentious than this. read more

I had a little time to kill before meeting a friend uptown so I waltzed over to the Park Avenue S location, grabbed a seat at the bar, and ordered. I knew I wanted to get their adult grilled cheese bc it looked so delicious, so I ordered that, and an order of calamari. The calamari was perfectly tender, crisp, and came with aioli. YUM! The grilled cheese was all I dreamt of. And it's on a pretzel bun. Double yes! I can honestly say I'll be back, solo, and order the grilled cheese and so many more things. My daughters, mother and myself dined here for dinner one night while visiting the city. We LOVED it. I had the Imagine off their drink list, and the salmon for my meal. My mother had a cocktail, not on their drink list, and the chicken. I was pleased to see they had a kids menu, which my girls had sliders off of. Basically sat our party of 3 at the worst table facing a wall and squeezed into a high traffic area because we requested to be seated and order for our daughter who was a few blocks away. We had a reservation too. We had a flight to catch and needed to get started. We saw that there were parties of three in booths and several booths were open, but he said they were reserved. Mean and vindictive behavior for a manager. Really should be just the opposite. Accommodating and polite in today's world brings people back. Last Saturday, a group of 6 of us went to brunch at Sarabeth's on Park Avenue. We chose Sarabeth's since the one couple has a newborn baby (12 weeks) and Sarabeth's is very spacious and kid/stroller friendly, and they also take reservations via Open Table. We had a reservation for 2 pm and when we arrived we were able to be seated right away. The booth they wanted to seat us as was going to be too small for 6 adults and a stroller, so they were able to accommodate us at a different, bigger table which was much more comfortable for all of us. It was pretty crowded at 2 pm and there were several infants and young children there. The service at Sarabeth's was a little slow - after our waiter took our drink and food orders, he practically disappeared and didn't really check in on us. We had to ask another waitress for the check. By the time we left, it had totally cleared out. As far as the food, I ordered the chicken sausage & kale frittata with a berry-corn muffin and I enjoyed my meal. The others at the table had the following: Avocado & Burrata Toast - was a small portion, very little avocado, overpriced for what you got Classic Eggs Benedict - just OK; the English muffin was strange looking; again overpriced Chicken Salad - unmemorable meal The burger - the burger came with the most delicious french fries; I swear it tasted like the fries were brought over from the McDonald's down the street - they were that good. Overall, the brunch was enjoyable just because of the company I was with. The food and service was decent, but not worth the price. We only went to this restaurant since it was baby/child friendly. Nyc, you can do better! I don't eat eggs so wouldn't have come here unless it was my friends bday. I got the avocado toast sans egg and asked for banana as a side to compensate. Given the many avo toast options around, this one didn't live up to my expectations. Avocado was thinly spread on the bread and I was left wondering where to grab food next. I've always heard good things about Sarabeth's brunch and although I found the food to be adequate, it was just A-OK for me. I think what hindered the experience for me slightly was the price of the entrees, a little bit more on the expensive side compared to other brunch places that offer similar plates. I started off with the Bloody Mary ($13). The amount they give you is huge. It was like an endless amount of Bloody Mary. The drink itself was good. I was just meh on the pickled garnishes on top. Too sweet for my liking. For my entrée, I got the scrambled eggs stuffed popover. Overall, it was good. The scrambled eggs were cooked nicely, full of that scallion flavor with bits of creamy soft cream cheese in between. The popover was a little dry and overcooked but it was adequate with the meal. The side salad was nice and refreshing with the eggs. I also tried some of my friend's ricotta and lemon pancakes and found the portion to be plentiful and the pancakes to be nice and fluffy with a nice hint of lemon. Overall, it was a good meal. Reservations are definitely necessary for this place. The pricing was just a tad higher than I would like pay for what they were offering. read more

This was a huge disappointment. I went to Sarabeth's Central Park for the first time back in 2015. The smoked salmon egg Benedict was perfect, and this is the dish she's famous for. It was so good, that I used it as a standard for egg benedict for years. I was finally visiting NYC again after all these years. We made a reservation for sunday brunch at this location, because it was the only Sarabeth's location taking reservations for that day. We arrived on time, and there was a good crowd waiting for tables. I ordered the smoked salmon egg benedict, and the poached eggs were oddly overcooked. You can tell they were sitting under food warmer for too long, both half of the yolks were solid, and the other half yolks were still running. Hollandaise sauce had a weird consistency, at least not the way I remembered. Probably won't be going back. Need to find a new egg benedict place now. read more

Awful experience Friday afternoon. We wanted a late lunch, the restaurant was not busy. It seemed to be taking a long time for our food to come. After 20 or 30 minutes, we flagged down the waiter to find out the order had never been put in. Server was not apologetic, restaurant manager was worse. I suggested that maybe the waiter was new . She said he was one of their best servers, adding something about being in transition. Came back here on a Saturday for brunch with my mom and cousin as they wanted to try out Sarabeth's in the city it was founded in (fun fact: Sarabeth's has a location in Taipei, my home city, so that's where we first heard about Sarabeth's). We were seated after a 5 min wait or so as I've made a reservation beforehand. Food wise, we ordered the following: Goldie Lox, Eggs Benedict, and Chicken Sausage & Kale Frittata with Avocado. I didn't get to try the Eggs Benedict as my cousin ordered it but she really liked it and gave it a 5/5 rating. I got the Chicken Sausage & Kale Frittata with Avocado, and despite me not being an avocado fan, I really liked the dish! The seasonings were pretty balanced, egg was cooked properly, and overall, the ingredients together made it a well balanced dish in terms of food groups. Was also a big fan of their banana muffin as it was quite soft and delicious. Would highly recommend getting this dish! In terms of the Goldie Lox, I wasn't too big of a fan this time because it seemed to be saltier than the last time I tried it? My mom got this and she couldn't finish it as it was definitely too salty. Also the raisin scone she ordered as a side was quite dry and thus, not too appealing. Those were the only reasons why I give Sarabeth's a 4 star review. For dessert, we got their Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, which I absolutely loved! The pancakes themselves were so so fluffy and the lemon flavor really came through (though I must admit I was missing some of the ricotta). Otherwise, the pancakes with the syrup and butter was a bomb combination and I would definitely order this again! Solid 3.5 stars! Known for their breakfast, especially their jams. All of the food is good and it's a decent option for a weekend brunch with family. Their popovers are my usual go-tos - different and actually flavorful. I would go with these over their regular egg dishes for sure. The owners of this establishment should be at best tarred and feathered but better yet drawn and quartered. They are the epitome of price gouging disgusting owners. Their restaurant is worse than the cheapest diner in the country. I ordered 2 burgers and a side of truffle fries and it cost me $80. 1. I was told food would be ready in 15 minutes. Showed up after 10 min figured I'd wait the other five so I can grab the food and go so it's fresh. Nope waited 45 minutes. Was it busy? Hahahaha nope 6 people in the entire restaurant. Pics below to show how "busy" it was on a Saturday night at 7:30. 2. Truffle fries are actually just rosemary fries with 1 dash of truffle salt. The burgers a bland unseasoned piece of cheap ground beef that fall apart the minute you grab it on a soggy bun with these weird onions that I suppose were supposed to be caramelized but might have just been rotten. They should be shut down immediately. When I say how horrendous this place is. Please never go there don't waste your money don't give them your money. I threw my food right in the trash after 1 bite. I wish I could get a refund but I doubt they would give me one. read more

This was my very first trip to NYC for a quick couples weekend and we decided to go to Sarabeth's for brunch. Made a reservation and sat outside and had a great meal. I had the lemon ricotta pancakes and they were the PERFECT mix of soft and sweet goodness. My husband had the French toast and was well received. The staff was on point with great service. Sarabeth's is culture-less, plain, and overpriced. Eggs Benedict 4/5 flavor and overpriced but they were a decent size. Also got a basket of muffins for the table (comes with four) and they were pretty average. They had us wait 10 minutes even though we had a reservation and the server wasn't very accommodating to a friend who didn't eat egg. She had to fish out possible substitutes instead of having them being told to her. Overall the waiter was just a bit "off" Food came out pretty fast though and latte was fine. Their special vanilla brandy was delicious though. Wouldn't come back though or recommend it to a friend. There are better spots in the city. Average place if you have money to waste. read more
