Have shopped here occasionally, for years, and never disappointed with their cookies and pastries. Amazing selection of homemade Italian treats. This year I decided to reserve a pumpkin pie to pick up for our holiday meal. The process was easy and the pie was affordable at just under $20. When I picked up Weds morning, the pumpkin filling was cracked (not just a little) and the crust was super pale. Thur afternoon I put in the oven for ten minutes to toast up the crust. Unfortunately nothing could change the taste -- the crust was super salty, like someone made a mistake with the recipe. But the pumpkin filling itself was very bland, none of that fall spiced comforting flavor. A total dud, and I assume I got an off batch. Still 4 stars on the cookies, 1 on the pie. read more

My husband ordered a chocolate birthday cake for me, and I just tasted it. The cake is horribly dry though he just picked it up yesterday. Also virtually flavorless. Inedible. I don't know how much it cost but it is money wasted. The chocolate espresso cookies I bought there were also awful. Tasted as if they used chocolate "flavor" rather than real chocolate. This bakery was fantastic! They created such a fabulous amaretto engagement cake for us darn near last minute. Our flight was delayed and we arrived after closing. The person I spoke with on the phone assured me they were willing to accommodate my situation. I was so stressed when I got there, as I hate to be late. The person at the counter was basically serving as a psychologist at that point :) I got my cake and was on my way. The quality of baked goods is solid. There's a terrific variety. I love the myriad of biscotti flavors. There are super fun sugar cookies, like Pokémon designs and holiday cookies. Currently, there are pumpkin cannolis (I prefer the standard cannolis). If you are having a party or are just bonkers for cannolis, you may want to consider getting the giant cannoli shell stuffed with a gaggle of regular cannolis. Check your order thoroughly, though. I have had my orders prepared wrong. My last visit, I requested three types of cookies. I got three different types of cookies, but two of them were wrong. And I repeated my order, so I'm not sure what the deal was there. There's inside seating but I don't think it's available because the bakery is not left open. Every time I've been there, I have to go to the deli a few doors down and then they send someone to open the bakery. read more

I ordered a Tiramisu cake on a Tuesday with a pickup date of Saturday mid-morning. I was given a frozen cake (no one of course even mentioned to me that it was frozen) and didn't have enough time to thaw it before it was needed to be served that same day. I am incredibly disappointed given how expensive the cake was. The cake eventually thawed out leaving a watery mess everywhere because of how much moisture was trapped inside. This place is fantastic! They're so friendly and accommodating! They designed this Candy Crush cake with no real additional charge and it came out better than imagined! It also wasnt much more than a supermarket cake would've cost (less than $50). They put the grid lines in for us so my kid can top it with our own candies (we brought the candy ourselves). Last week I was looking for an Italian pastry shop in Albuquerque, to surprise my dad with an Italian Rum Cake for his birthday - his first birthday in a new state. I thought surely there wouldn't be one right? I came across Saratori's di Tully, and told them my idea to surprise my dad at work on his birthday was a cake for 10 people, completely out of the blue. All was great until I called my dad the morning of his birthday and casually asked how his work day was going, only to find out he was off! Johnny and his staff were so incredibly patient and accommodating, working tirelessly with me to figure out the best way to keep it a surprise and get it delivered. Ultimately, I decided it was best to try again the next day, and it was a hit. My dad originally is from South Jersey, and said that not only was the surprise amazing but the cake was damn good too. I really love this little Italian bakery and all if it's cozy ambience. Saratori's makes you feel like you walked right through a portal of a bakery shop in little Italy , NYC. They carry a satisfying dessert and pastry. Authentic Italian fare for sure. One thing I wish and it's this... that they would actually use a real chocolate for their chocolate dipped cannoli; rather than a oil that looks like chocolate. It's a chocolate imposter. Their pies are delicious but over the top expensive. In fact everything is a bit pricey, but if you're willing to pay the price, it certainly will be worth the trip. Really the only glitch is the waxy/ oily chocolate dip for the chocolate dip cannoli. It's my estimation that anything that has chocolate dipped or drizzle, is that chocolate imposter. I'm a self proclaimed chocolate connoisseur and my taste buds reject the fake stuff. The regular shell with the cannoli filling is insanely epic. If that's a thing. Their house made biscotti is to die for and they have an abundant selection, my favorite being the Salted caramel with toasted almonds. Heaven. There's nothing like dipping that Salted caramel biscotti in my favorite coffee drink. It's the best. When you do go in, be specific about how the counter help packs your items. They have a tendency to put everything you order in the same bag. Sometimes things need to be packed in a box so your items don't get broken and smashed. I mean, we're paying a lot of money, you know? In any case... give this place a try. Don't blink or you'll pass right by it. They have a tasty deli too. read more

Incredibly disappointed in the $70.00 Cannoli cake that was beautiful to look at but tasted terrible. The whipped cream frosting was not whipped cream - it had a marshmallow consistency and it was flavored with something flowery. The, what I assume were, butter cream decorations (flowers) tasted like flowers. The roses tasted like roses. It was not even edible. This is one of very few places in town to get homemade biscotti... around 15 different flavors to try from. They're thick and dense and hold up nicely to dunking in coffee. I recently moved to Albuquerque today I stopped in to grab a quick sandwich after a morning of shopping with my kids , little did I know I had just stumbled upon one of the hidden gems of Albuquerque. The lemon ricotta cookie was amazing, the French dip was delicious, as well as the meatball sub my husband ordered. The deli counter reminded me of being back on the east coast. The cookies and treats looked spectacular, made with skill and craft that was shown in the icing quality. I wasn't expecting to buy anything and I ended up buying a couple of cookies for my boyfriend. Crazy expensive, and well worth it if you like real Italian pastries. I recommend the sfogliatelle, which is a hard flaky pastry filled with cheese and relatively unsweet. My mom, who was born in Italy, went bananas over their little fig cookies, which tasted exactly like the ones her mom, my grandmother, used to make. The cannoli were a little sweet for our tastes, but those might be a more popular item and thus geared toward pleasing Americans' sweeter tastes. One gripe is that we ordered a chocolate cake for my daughter's first birthday. It was good, but I'm not sure that it really tasted like chocolate. Either their chocolate is a strange variant of the flavor, or they gave us the wrong kind of cake. Hard to say. read more

This review is long overdue! I ordered my birthday cake two years back from Saratori's. I had wanted an excuse to try their divine sounding cannoli cream torte for awhile, and my 21st birthday seemed like just the occasion. Upon ordering the cake, I spoke with the baker directly. I told them it was for my 21st birthday, my party was going to have around 30 people, and that it would be a Mad Men theme. I just needed it to taste good and said it was their call whether or not to decorate. The super-friendly baker said she would surprise me. I mentioned my distain towards fondant, and she talked to me about how much detail they can get in with icing alone. Well, she did not disappoint. My cake looked amazing! It was the show's logo, and done fabulously. I cried a little and proceeded to cut into the most deliciously moist and indulgent cake I've had in my young, (but cake-filled) life. It truly was a triumph. Thank you, Saratori's! We ordered my wife's Birthday cake and pastries last year, delicious. This year, complete opposite. VERY disappointed, the cake was overcooked and dry. ANY pantry chef would have known that and not iced the cake. The "Lobster roll" was puff pastry with filling and a cherry, wowie - not dratitional by any means. $3.99 each, come on, that's ridiculous. I recently ordered the tiramisu cake for my boyfriend's birthday. When I served the cake to our guests they thought it was an ice cream cake. It was frozen, it literally had ice crystals in the filling. I had picked up the cake 6 hours before serving and put it in the fridge. I was not given instructions that this frozen cake needed to be defrosted before serving. The man that retrieved the cake for me didn't even take the time to show me the cake. I Purchased a Chantilly cake for my daughter's bridal shower. When I picked it up I specifically told the employee that I was driving to Santa Fe and asked him if the cake would be ok. He said "yes." He the offered to load it into my car - in the trunk. After dropping off passengers, I moved the cake to the interior of the car. When I arrived at home the cake had a huge crack and chunks were falling off. I was offered no refund and no store credit. I will never do business there again. I will purchase any other Chantilly cakes from Whole Foods - where I purchased one two weeks prior to this incident. I transported it an hour away in the trunk, and it was perfect when I got there. Saratori's is owned by the same family as Tully's Italian Deli next door. They make incredible cakes (coconut cake w/cream cheese frosting, tiramisu, etc), and I don't even like cake. For others who don't like cake, there are fruit pies, cheesecakes, biscotti, + cookies (really wonderful, light cookies!). I highly recommend the fennel cookies- such a unique flavor- and the caramel almond biscotti. The only cake that we seemed to enjoy was the almond cake and that was pretty dang good. The filings were alright compared to the other 6 places we went to but the icings were definitely better.
