Sewer Line Repair with Minimal Yard Damage - Great Experience with Sarkinen Home Services During a house inspection, I was informed that a section of my sewer line leading to the street was broken and needed replacement. Unfortunately, the break was located in a beautifully landscaped area of our yard, and I was very concerned about the potential damage to our plants, sprinklers, and lawn. I called Marco at Sarkinen Home Services for a second opinion. Out of all the bids I received, Marco was the only camera technician who offered a practical alternative to tearing up our yard with a backhoe. His solution was to use a Vactor hydro excavation truck, which would minimize damage to the landscape. We decided to hire Sarkinen, and their team handled everything from start to finish. They coordinated with all utility companies to locate underground gas, power, telecommunications, sewer, storm, and water lines ahead of time. On the day of the repair, both technicians arrived on time, in uniform, and in clearly marked work vehicles. They were professional, courteous, and explained the entire procedure before getting started. They got right to work, completed the repair efficiently, and left our yard clean and free of any debris. After the service was complete and paid for, I had a few follow-up questions. Marco responded immediately, came out in person to address my concerns, and even re-scoped the repaired area. He allowed me to watch the live camera feed and later sent me a copy of the video for my records. I only write reviews for fast food places to get free food. But in this case I am compelled to write a review for Sarkinen. I had a water line leak in January and it took 14 days to have it repaired by a plumbing firm from Portland. BAD BAD choice. That leak happen in the same spot a few days ago. I have insurance and the company called the same plumbing firm again. Their bid was to high, so the insurance company sent another firm That estimator was not very happy. He spent 98% of the time bitching and moaning about the previous firm, and how very very hard my job would be and how difficult and costly it would be. I called Sarkenin. They came out in less than an hour. Gave me a bid that was almost half of the other bidders. My insurance would not allow me to use them without approval. I bugged the heck out of Home Service, even sending my opinion that they would be less costly and do a much better job. Of course I had to wait days for approval...only after telling them that they could use the more expensive one. Called Home Service about 8 times. They finally agreed to let Sarkinen do the job. Because I asked them if they could hold the appointment open, which they did. I was up at 5:00 am yesterday to get approval. They gave it to me. Take a guess. Sarkinen came out the next day. Completed the job very quickly this morning neatly, professionally and cleaned up everything. That even including the orange paint that the locator had sprayed all over the entire 80 feet that was used all over my driveway. This is very long...but they deserve my thanks and respect. The drain pipe between the laundry room and kitchen was completely clogged, and any amount of snaking I was able to do did nothing to fix it. So I called Sarkinen and prayed that since this was the first plumber I have ever called in my close to 60 years that I would feel good about my choice. The project was worse and bigger than just a drain not working...the snaking did nothing to clear the clog because it was years of built-up muck within most of the line. The first day, two men tried to clear the pipe and worked for several hours with snaking up to 35 ft (it was my choice to try the snaking due to costs). Two days later another two gentlemen came over and used water forced into the pipe to blast away the goop. This approach ultimately required that one of the gentlemen had to get into the crawl space and manuever almost the length of the house with his equipment to work the drain pipe from that angle. This worked!! The laundry room drain has NEVER worked as well as it does now. I am planning that next your I will have Sarkinen come back out to the house and have them water blast the other drain pipe! All four men were professional, polite, respectful, attentive, and very tolerant to my constant observation and comments! I truly am impressed with their work, the costs, and their level of professionalism. They will be the first call I will make if another crisis comes up with plumbing! read more

Robert G came out and repaired our hot water heater which was leaking. Did a fabulous job. A few weeks later our hot water hydro heated floors stopped working and Dylan and Seylong came out and found the problem which was not related to the earlier repair. Dylan and Seylong looked at the floor water supply system, adjusted a few things and it worked again. They did not charge for this service. Seylong and Dylan were on time, professional and very pleasant. Last week water heater had a pretty significant discharge of water so I called Sarkinen again. Dylan and Logan were out today and found the problem, again, not their fault, and made the adjustment to try to prevent another discharge. On this visit they checked the age of the water heaters (there are two) and advised that the warranty expired in 2013. Recommended water heaters be replaced soon. We will for sure have Sarkinen install the new heaters. Everyone I've dealt with from the lady in their office, to the plumbers who came to our home have been so easy to work with and have done a fantastic job. read more

Ty who works at Sarkinen Plumbing came to our house 3 weeks ago in Portland, Oregon to fix our kitchen sink that was clogged. The moment he stepped into our home with covered shoes, he had a sincere smile on his face and we knew he was going to be great. He introduced himself and kindly walked in being cautious of my home and surroundings. He had no trouble with our huge dog which was quite shocking since he is a great dane. Ty did such an amazing job with the sink and fixed it with no trouble at all, explaining to us every little detail that he was doing and informing us of certain consequences that occur when doing certain things with drainage problems. Ty was absolutely amazing and for such a young kid, we were shocked at the great satisfaction he left at our home and kitchen sink. Because of Ty, I will definitely call this company again and our kitchen sink is working amazing. I was so impressed with Dallas from Sarkinen who came out for a emergency plumbing crises after normal working hours. I called plumber after plumber who advertised as 24 hour/emergency plumbing; but, they either didn't call me back or when they did offered a next morning appointment. That's not 24 hour. I called, Dallas called me right back and he was there in 20. I was very stressed after a pipe burst in my kitchen. Dallas was very calming and assured me he could do the work. And, he did not disappoint. He fixed the problem and did not leave until everything was tested. I cannot comment enough about his professionalism, calmness and the pricing was very very reasonable. I will likely go to this company to bid replacing all my pipes; but, in the meantime, Sarkinen is my go to for any of my plumbing needs. Skip the stress of calling fake 24 hour plumbers and contact Sarkinen for emergency or non-emergency plumbing needs. They won't disappoint. read more

Sarkinen Plumbing truly is as good as it gets! After calling at least 15 plumbing companies only to be told they were "too busy" or leaving messages that were never returned, I decided to look in the Yellow Pages. Bingo! I called and was asked when would I like my appointment--what a concept! Plumber Chris came out for the free estimate, let me choose which flat rate I wanted after discussing options for my water heater relocate and replacement. During the install they ended up running into some unexpected problems in the crawlspace area but when I went to pay I asked if they needed more money--nope, flat rate price stood! They were clean, fast and thorough. I would not hesitate to call them again, nor hesitate to recommend them. I must also add that their prices are very fair; the only other plumbing company that would come out for a PAID estimate gave me a quote for the same work/materials $1,500 higher! read more

My experience with this plumbing company was infuriating. They pressured me into unnecessary purchases, refused to refund my money, and hung up on me when I tried to address the issue. Initially, they admitted they couldn't guarantee a permanent fix for my hot water problem but insisted on replacing my boiler, promising a warranty. They convinced me to buy a $1500 booster, claiming it would provide constant hot water. In the end, I paid around $4000. To make matters worse, the new boiler didn't deliver as promised, and when I sought help, they said the booster was pointless. When I asked for a refund, they denied it and wouldn't even reimburse the $1000+ installation fee. Waiting three hours for hot water was the final straw. This company's pushy tactics, refusal to refund, and terrible customer service are absolutely unacceptable. Stay away from them! read more

When we see these types of reviews, we do not take them lightly; we take them seriously and learn from the mistakes we have made. We love Sarkinen Plumbing! Sarkinen has done extensive work on our home. They initially did a blower door test on our house to help us improve the energy efficiency of our home. After they did the work they did a follow up test to make sure that the improvements fixed all our problems. They are also licensed as general contractors and hold their subcontractors to very high standards. All of the members of their crew have been extremely friendly and polite; they have always been on time and are great about cleaning up after they finish a project. We have been so pleased with their work that both our daughters have hired them to work on their homes and they are now working to fix two rental properties that we own as well! I have used Sarkinen plumbing on a previous occasion and they always provide excellent service. The technicians came out today on time as scheduled and quickly got to work replacing three toilets. I expected the work to last several hours but was finished in about three. The area was completely free of any residual debris from the work and I am more than happy with the result - I am betting my water bill will decrease significantly with the new installation. They also came out to unclog a garage drain. However, they quickly diagnosed the problem was not fixable, saving me time and money on the potential repair. I highly recommend Sarkinen - why shop around for a cheaper deal - I will stick with a company that provides high quality work. read more

3/19/19 Dylan and Logan came to check out a leak from my upstairs guest bathroom shower tub combination, that had leaked into the downstairs living room ceiling sheetrock. The living room ceiling had begun to come apart in a small area and was wet after using the guest shower/bath. Dylan was able to quickly diagnose and offer some solutions in terms of fixing the problem and its cost. He provided useful info and was very professional in discussing this with me. Logan cut away the ceiling sheetrock and then Dylan fixed the leak from above. About 5 years ago, the water line from street to house. started to leak underground. Water bill went from about $80.00 to $1100.00. Water dept never notified me of this sig. change! Called Sarkinen co. and they came out the next day and replaced the broken pipe line. Also put a shut off valve closer to the opening of the crawl space for this retired lady (me). So far, no problems! Also gave a discount Then 2 weeks ago the hot water tank sprung a leak! What a mess! Called them, explained my need for a new water tank. Again, the guys came out the next day. I had nothing but a positive experience from start to finish with Sarkinen. We had our main water line burst over the weekend but couldn't get anyone to come out to give an estimate until Monday. Sarkinen got someone out that day to give an estimate. We ultimately decided out of a few different plumbers that we wanted to go with Sarkinen after they matched one of the lower bids that we received. Scheduling was a breeze with Sandy, they got permits quickly, were timely and respectful of our home, scheduled inspections with quick turnaround and all around had perfect follow-through. Had a broken gas line pipe and called several other companies that were referred to us, the other companies quoted up to $200 to do an estimate plus couldn't get to us for over 24 hours. When its winter and you have no heat or hot water 24+ hours is not good. Sarkkinen plumbing was SOOO friendly and professional from the moment I called, charged zero for an estimate, showed up the same day and exactly when they said they would, fixed our broken pipe, crawled under the wet & muddy crawl space under the house and still were smiling at the end.
