menus on the wall of a restaurant
    Rod D.

For being in a shopping mall food court, I thought this food experience was actually very pleasant. What I really liked was that you are able to see all your food freshly cooked. While this is a fast food Japanese restaurant, they take their time to cook your food and make sure it is potatoes like prepared correctly. For my order, I went with the special of the day, chicken and shrimp teriyaki over steamed rice and veggies all for $7.39. I thought it was a really good deal considering the portion size. It was a good amount that I had half of the portion leftover. For a food court, this restaurant does it's justice. I wish there was a bigger food selection on the menu but beggars can't be choosers and I'll take what I can get.

I've been here multiple times with my boyfriend and we love it every time! The best thing on the menu is the chicken teriyaki with fried rice! It the special of the day everyday and it's only $6.09!! A fabulous deal!! You can also add chicken for an extra $1.69 and they give you a lot more if you do decide to get the extra. My boyfriend and I love to come here after we work out at Xsport fitness which is just down the street! Very convenient!

Double chicken! And yes there is rice below that!

Some of these reviews are sad. If you want sushi, go to an sushi restaurant. With that said, come here for the teriyaki chicken. Double meat for the big eaters! This is the go to spot after a session at xsport. Best post workout meal of about a cup and a half of rice, lots of chicken, and lots of veggies. And lastly, the sauce is amazing. Don't forget to tip the cooks, they remember faces, and have my respect.

I read the two other reviews. First guy Dan D. you go to sarku for thing the teriyaki chicken you dont go there for anything else. If you want authentic sushi/yaki soba etc goto a full blown japanese restaurant. Who cares if the employees are lazy. I even think when they scoop of the raw chicken from underneath the counter it looks disgusting but the end result is amazing teriyaki chicken. Its flavorful and goes well with the fried rice and the steamed veggies. The double meat is awesome and they skimp on the double meat part either. you will have dinner and then leftovers for another meal. Freaking love sarku. -1 star for unappetizing scoopage of the raw chicken mush from under the grill and plopping on the grill. You might want to turn away if you have a weak stomach when they do this. Also I need more veggies on my plate. Other than that i love this place and will bring all my friends until they are believers. I already got one of them hooked!

Phone on a cutting board. Cutting board looks used? Clean or not, this doesn't look safe nor healthy. Yikes! This is disgusting...

Been coming here for the past 3-4 years, once in a while. The place is located inside the Golf Mill mall. Their all-time special is "chicken teriyaki" which comes with your choice of white/fried rice & vegetables. The chicken is actually pretty tasty and the rice is okay, nothing some soy sauce can't fix. The place offers bento boxes, teriyaki items, tempura items and sushi. They do also have sides: miso soup, edamami, and seaweed salad. Now please realize this review is solely based on my fix of chicken teriyaki here and my experience coming here, once in a while for the past few years. Aside from the chicken teriyaki, I'm not familiar with their other plates nor their sushi. The chicken has good flavor and is not bland. After they cook it and sprinkle their spice, they then put a ladle of teriyaki sauce over the chicken. If you like it spicy, make sure you ask for their hot sauce. Adds good flavor more than heat. The fried rice as stated above, put some soy sauce on it if it's bland. Aside from that's I think it's a good bang for your buck. As I saw in one comment and would agree, Sarku is definitely not the place you go to for sushi, or anything else related. You just go there for their chicken teriyaki! Service is normal and the cooks usually are cooking the chicken fresh since it seems like they are famous for their teriyaki chicken. To sum it all, if you're looking for a quick bite to eat, don't need fancy and are craving chicken teriyaki, this is your go to place. I give it 3 out of 5 stars. Because my experience with their menu isn't broad and it's food court at a mall. Can't expect much here. I'd at least rate their chicken teriyaki 4*, easily.

The dining room is really pretty, and well-appointed! We were seated right away by friendly staff. Looking around, this appeared to be a very family-friendly establishment, as that was, by far, the most prominent type of connoisseur in the house on this evening! Our waitress was wonderful, and helped us with some recommendations upon us letting her know it was our first visit! She checked in with us frequently, and made sure drinks were always refilled promptly! We had a bunch of different items, and all were very good! We tried sushi rolls, beef noodles, and ramen. I'd have to say that the beef noodles probably were the best item for me! It's quaint - doesn't have a lot of decor, but it's decent looking. We sat at a two top by the front door and window, but it is next to a short wall with a decorative piece on the shelf so it makes that table kind of private. We were amazed to see how many servers they had working that evening when we arrived 7:30 pm without a reservation. There were probably six open tables and within half an hour the place was completely packed so they had staffed up well with five servers for maybe 15 tables. We enjoyed the ike karaage which is octopus tentacles. They call them squid on the menu, but squid tentacles are much smaller than that. They were crispy on the outside and tender inside. The dipping sauce was super light and fluffy maybe with a tiny bit of lemon and miso and it complemented the karaage very well. We also had the blistered shishito peppers which were dusted with ground red pepper and came with a soy base dipping sauce and a lemon. We thought maybe they would be good with the miso lemon aïoli, but actually they were much better dipped in the soy sauce mixture. My entree was the sashimi salad, which really had an enormous amount of fish. All I could see was tuna and salmon chunks (probably leftovers that could not be used in sushi because of their shape) with a nice mixture of greens and tobiko. It was lightly dressed with a soy, ginger and sesame vinaigrette and very tasty. My husband had the hama chili roll and it was very light but flavorful. The pricing is great and we plan on returning in the near future.

Especially to save anybody else from what we had to endure. We came in for dinner after a long, exhausting day of running errands.... myself, my sister, and my 83-year-old mother. We were seated modestly quickly, which gave us hope. Unfortunately, that was the only thing that went right. Shortly after being seated, a man who appeared to be our server approached us not to take our order, but to tell us he was "too busy" to wait on us and that someone else would come. That set the tone immediately. When another server finally did come over, things didn't improve. It took OVER 15 minutes for Server to acknowledge us, And another 10 minutes just to take our order, while we watched multiple tables who were seated after us being served promptly and efficiently. At that point, we should have left. I eventually received an appetizer, but my mother and sister received nothing. As I sat there awkwardly picking at my food, we watched surrounding tables (who arrived after us), receive full meals before us. We flagged down our server, and only then were we casually informed that my mother's meal had been given to another table. No apology beforehand. No proactive communication. No attempt to correct it until we had to ask. Let that sink in: an elderly woman sat there (over a hour now), waiting, ignored, while her meal was served to someone else and no one thought to inform us. At that point, we got up and left. The front door staff were the only bright spots. They were polite and immediately got the manager. The manager assured my sister that the situation would be "handled," that we would be contacted, and that some form of recompense would be made for the experience. She was also so apologetic... But her apologies were as devoid is truth as her personality was devoid of any humanity. So her promises that she would reach out that we would be recompensed well...That never happened. No call. No follow-up. No accountability. As for the food? I can't fairly review it because we never actually received it. The small portion of appetizer I did get was nothing memorable, and the sake was honestly subpar. What I can review is the service, (if one can call it that,) and it was abysmal. Disorganized, inattentive, and completely lacking in basic professionalism and respect. Promises were made and not kept, which makes the experience even worse. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. There are too many places that actually value their customers' time, dignity, and experience. Save yourself the frustration and go elsewhere.
