The food was alright. It wasn't great and wasn't bad, however, for the prices of the food it is most definitely not even remotely worth it. Expect a small portion only as well. I've ordered and eaten from multiple subculture restaurants - I've even worked for one of them and this one is an absolute bust. The best part of my over 130$ meal was the macaroni and cheese. The gumbo was terrible - the taste is simply not good. It's bland and the strongest flavor was the taste of shrimp. The chicken and sausage were also bland and awful. My boyfriend got the fried chicken- in no way was the batter flavorful- you get more flavor from KFC. We got a tomato bisque and fried green tomato to split- it was HORRIBLE. the soup didn't even mimick a tomato taste, it was just spices. You'd think I'd have wanted spices since the things we ordered should have them, but alas- it seems they just put them into the soup and slapped chemical cheese on the fried green tomato's. Again, just overshooting on side dishes and missing the mark on mains. The best thing i ordered was the 8$ side of macaroni and cheese- which is insanely priced but worth it considering it was the only thing we found remotely edible. Super disappointing considering the name, the reputation and the cost. Will never waste my time again. Hope Scott and Rodney figure out what broke up there tonight. read more

Had Dinner here last night. Off the main road but place looked very chick. First off they play Heavy Metal head banging music. The food was just ok. I ordered the baby back ribs. For $24.95 I was expecting a full rack of ribs, only 5 ribs came with dinner and a side of Baked Beans. My wife ordered the Arugula Salad with shrimp. The Salad was good but the shrimp was not fresh. They sat us directly in the sun when the restaurant was 75 percent empty and told us we either have to stay there or leave. The host was extremely rude and would not accommodate our reservation even when the restaurant was empty. The service was awful and she was unprofessional and rude. **Edit after owner responded. We made reservations as well, in which the hostess did not offer us specific tables and their online reservations do not allow for a choice. After we left we went back by the restaurant on our way home only to still see the restaurant was almost 50 percent empty and they had empty tables away from the sun. The hostess was so rude she continued to harass us telling us It was her choice and her space. When we walked by again i also noticed most of the outside tables moved creating a NON ADA compliant sidewalk. I reported It to the city to let them know since we couldn't even walk through the walkway as the restaurant and patrons (even the empty tables in the shade) were moved to their liking. It was out of place for the hostess to treat us the way she did even though we also had reservations. Strange that she pushed our business away and allowed tables to stay empty. We were there well before the drag brunch started and probably would have even finished breakfast before It started but the hostess continued to tell us to "move we are in the way." She should be trained on how to speak to clients and find solutions, not create more. We created a solution and only out of abuse of lower she forced us to "move." Additionally she said she could not sit a party of 3 at 4 table even tough we pointed out multiple parties of 2 enjoying breakfast at a table for 4. We even offered to squeeze into a 2 seater table and she continued to say "no it's my space my rules and I won't offer you that accommodation" thanks for the 25% but more importantly you should make your sidewalk cafe ADA compliant and train your staff to better plan and not have attitude when paying customers were asking for help. ALSO maybe consider getting more umbrellas?? As i see other people have complained about the same. Sun and bad service. South Florida requires covered tables so just a piece of advice from business owner to business owner, MAYBE GET MORE UMBRELLAS?! Couldn't pay me to go back there. The ambiance was ok. Outside tables were too close to an adjacent parking lot. Try putting up some tall plants and trees to hide the ugly. Service was very good. Our server Jessica was friendly and attentive. She gets high marks. The food wasn't great. 3 of us ordered the gumbo. Quite honestly it was all rice, seriously all rice and over seasoned to the point you couldn't taste the full flavor. My brother-in-law ordered the burger. He said it was just ok. Very good fried chicken. Meat was juicy and tender and not too greasy, for fried chicken. I like the sauces that come with the sandwich. French fries were just okay. Our whole experience was fantastic!! The reservation option on Yelp was so easy. We had gotten a promo deal and they honored that with exceptional service . The food and atmosphere were top notch. ( we recommend the shrimp grits). When we had to leave a few min earlier the chef even boxed up a dessert and brought it to us. Such a nice personal touch. I really hope we can go back when we come to FL again. It was all magical. Highly recommend I will say- If you want McDonald's fast service don't go- this is leisurely but well paced. The waitresses literally looked right through me as if I didn't exist! It took 15 minute of dodging for one to actually bite the bullet and take my drink order and it was not even busy yet! The food was mediocre at best (food came out fresh and hot and the biscuits / oysters were good) and my waitress forgot my wine for most of the meal! Who wants to eat raw oysters without something to wash them down? The only person who checked on me was I assume the manager but bless her heart, her heels were too high and dress was too short she just kinda shuffled around the room all night not really helping. Anyways almost 30 minutes after dropping the receipt (a 10 minute wait for that of more avoidance) the waitress fiiinally comes to get my card for payment! By this point I asked the table next to me "Is this real?" Sassafras made my feel horrible as a person! Like maybe I don't fit their vibe so they were going to treat me awful... I wrote a note explaining horrible service and lo and behold checking my bank statements THE WAITRESS TIPPED HERSELF! I planned a birthday brunch for my husband's 35th birthday here. We arrived for our 11:30 reservation and were promptly seated outside in the sun. The tables outside have hardly any shade or covering. When we asked to be seated inside they stated that they could not accommodate a table of 3 inside, mind you there were two people seated at a table for four. Fine, we asked if we could move our table so we would be properly shaded. The hostess allowed us to. All was well. A few minutes later a manager came to us and told us that we had to move our table back into the sun because they were fully booked and the location of our table would block the use of the table next to us. Mind you, there were at least 8 empty tables available outside and several inside. Why not let us sit in the shade and maybe we would've finished our food before the reservation behind us arrived. But no, this manager wouldn't have it and was very rude and unaccommodating. Also, when booking online, no where does it say you maybe seated outside uncovered in the sun. Of course we left and were promptly seated inside at a restaurant that actually wanted our service. If you make a brunch reservation here, make sure you request a table inside. Otherwise you will be enjoying a mimosa with a side of sun poisoning. read more

My fiancé came home for the weekend and took me to dinner with his son and a friend of mine that was also visiting from out of town. I've been so disappointed lately when going out to eat because customer service is just not up to par. There was a HUGE paver missing underneath my fiancé's chair. He didn't notice until he fell into the hole that the missing paver created. The manager on duty could have cared less. In fact, she took it a step further and asked us not to come back - no problem! She was dressed like the devil (Halloween) and certainly was in total character. I'm working on my reaction to people and this was a true test. All in all...you have a lovely establishment but, the MOD this past Saturday evening (10/30/21) was enough to kill my appetite and not come back. Good hamburger though. read more

I had a reservation for outside and we arrived on time to be told that the only table outside was directly under a speaker so we took a table inside. Once there we realized that the music was so loud that holding any conversation was impossible due to the noise level We couldn't hear each other or the waiter and when we asked if there was any way to lower it we were told it was going to get louder during the show. This type of noise pollution should be investigated as a health hazard to peoples ears If the restaurant feels the need to advertise itself through using loud music then they should rethink their marketing strategy. Having a meal and a show should not be a painful experience which it certainly was. We unfortunately felt that in order to preserve the heath of our auditory systems that we had to leave so we did not sample anything except the unfortunately noisy environment. read more

My boyfriend and I sat at the bar on Friday and we were greeted immediately with a smile. Very nice young man who offered us a menu which was neat. It was a menu on a flat board. He tried the special drink of the day which was good and I got a red wine he recommended which was nice as well. For an app we got the black bean hummus which was AMAZING, I wanted ti eat thing by myself! For our entrees he got the steak, he said it was okay. I got a side salmon and a tomato salad which was really yummy too. Got a dessert, I forget which one but it came with ice cream. Also order a espresso martini which came out fast and was perfect! What a shame. Last nights low country boil copperpoint event was awful. Worst food I've had here since that lunchbox mini muffalata.. Oysters- there's two ways to serve oysters. Cold or hot. Nobody wants globs of half cooked oysters served at room temperature off of trays. Gross. The Boil-It was just not great. The corn was oddly small and firm, the red potatos we're too big to take on any flavor and once bitten into tasted like a starch ball. The shrimp with heads we're very salty and poorly cleaned! I love eating the heads when they are crisp but rubbery shrimp heads are a gross waste. The sausage was cheap quality and lightly boiled so it was chewy.. It's almost like they cooked everything in 1 hour.. The delivery! They served small trays and gave everyone small plates that held maybe 4 craws and 1 potato.. lol we had to get up every 5 minutes.. Use big bowls!! It's a boil.. people want to eat 20-30 craw dads at a time! To top it off the whole event was a beer launch and the canned beer was not even ice cold!! Dammit!! Room temp oysters and beer!! Fml Chef seemed to be less than concerned sipping a cocktail with a smile while they loaded up trays of mediocrity. The female manager wearing the suit jacket has the personality of a river stone and was the only female without a hair tie. Her hair literally grazed trays of food throughout the night.. come on. You are the manager. Set an example, it's food service. Huge disappointment. The regular food service here is SO GOOD! but the execution of events and food specials here need some work. If not they should just stick to burgers and hush puppies because those items are normally great! I hope they take this constructively because I really enjoy it here most of the time. read more

I live downtown West Palm Beach, so I thought I would check out this restaurant. This restaurant is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Open concept, very bright with beautiful flowers everywhere. The servers and hostess are dressed in Lilly Pulitzer dresses and ties. The server was excellent, a very cute happy young blond girl. We forgot our doggy bag and she ran out of the restaurant to give it to us. Excellent staff and fast service. There is an outside eating area, but the seats need comfortable cushions. The restaurant has a nice bar and a big kitchen but the restaurant itself is small and very loud. They had a bunch of Christmas parties so it might have been louder than usual. The hostess gave us two free vouchers for cocktails to make up for the noisy table. The oysters are big and meaty. The biscuits and cornbread are warm and delicious. The fried chicken was okay, too much breading for me. I highly recommend the squash blossoms, they are delightful. read more
