I was in Boston for a convention at the Hynes Convention Center but stayed at the Westin Waterfront. My boss wanted to have breakfast everyday we were there -_- so I ended up eating here three times - all for breakfast. The first time, I had the wrap which was actually really really good. The second time I had the omelette which was also pretty yummy. It had this pesto sauce in it that gave it a unique taste and made it more yummy than your average omelette. The third day, I had the egg white omelette which...wasn't as good. My favorite would be the wrap and second would be the omelette (not the egg white one). I'm giving it three stars because I probably wouldn't come here unless I was staying at the hotel. It's kinda pricey too - breakfast for 2 people my first day here came out to $50! At first you're not sure if someone was trying to be really cheesy or creative with the name "Sauciety". Is it a play on "sauce" or "society" or both? I guess both? In any case, why would anyone make a play on these words? It's not like all they're focusing on is sauce at this restaurant LOL. I stayed at the Westin Waterfront for a conference, Sauciety is inside the hotel. As you can expect with a hotel restaurant, they are not aiming to please, they know you will most likely only have one meal there, so they are not concerned with your happiness. Its over priced, un-attentive service, small portions, and just flat out bland. I had the clam chowder, it was ok, but the cup was a little bigger than a portion I'd serve to a 5 year old. I also had the crab cake, 1 crab cake to be critical. The description sounds like you are getting this flavorful salad, and you get one 2 inch crab cake sprinkled with corn, and that's about it. Definitely not satisfying. The waiter was walking back and forth across the empty restaurant, but never came by our table, except for when I flagged him down for a refill. We ate here during a stay at the Westin for the PAX East convention. We ate there twice, once just wings and quesadilla snack, and once for the buffet breakfast. The food was great (the bread pudding was a tad dry though), and the buffet had a great variety. The service, however, was truly outstanding. Whoever the hostess was on Friday morning, the 27th of February deserves extra kudos. I am disabled, and rather than making me schlep all the way to the back of the restaurant, she made it a point to seat us quite near the buffet so I would walk it without my cane which makes juggling plates so much easier. She dealt with my disability in an accomodating way without making a production of it. Very much appreciated. Additionally, the hotel was PACKED for the PAX event, and every other male under the age of 40 was sporting a grat PAX shirt. My son in his PAX shirt looked like every other person coming and going, but she was truly focused on people, not bodies and remembered him hours later. Three hours after leaving my son realized he forgot his water bottle. We figured it was gone for good, but stopped by the restaurant just to check. The hostess saw us approaching through the lobby, immediately reached under and grabbed his bottle and brought it to us. She remembered us and made it a point to keep an eye out for our return. She was exceptional, and I only came to write this review due to her kindness, treatment of a 12-year-old boy that most staff would ignore or condescend to, and attentiveness to the reality of traveling while disabled. read more

Decidedly lackluster. I came here because some of my wife's family was in town and staying at the Westin. The plusses to coming here? If you're already here, there's *nothing* else around. The minuses? Let's see: - Holycrapexpensive. I think the brunch buffet was $23 apiece. If you just got two eggs and sausage that was $15. It's a captive market and they know it. - We got the buffet, which comes with eggs. We ordered the eggs from our waitress done once-over. What we got was the eggs about 40 minutes later, for two eggs mind you, and they were less cooked I think than they were in the shell. Juice also needs to go through the waitress, and really who wants to wait 40 minutes for a glass of juice? The service was absolutely abysmal. I can't imagine coming here if you're actually on a schedule. You'd have to order the night before for them to actually have your food ready for brunch. - Parking. Parking for 2 hours is $20, and there is no place else to park. Short story: If you're stuck in the hotel, I guess you won't starve, but your wallet will be considerably lighter. If you're not a captive audience in the hotel, avoid this place like the plague. read more

Not bad! I ate breakfast here and decided to go with the buffet. The meals were too pricey with a drink added on to not justify just doing the buffet, which is $24 and comes with a drink. I had to say it was quite loaded with options! They had cereals, oatmeals, pork and turkey sausages, sweet breakfast options, and more and more. If you have a big family I would say find somewhere else, way too pricy for a big group. But if you want to fill up and get stuffed, good choice. Service was nice and food tasted good. I ventured here this past Friday night in the frigid cold to meet up with a friend for dinner and drinks. We were going to go to MJ O'Connor's but my friend's coworker was at the bar at Sauciety so that's where we went. There were literally only about 3 other people at the bar and one table, so my opinion might be a little biased since we had plenty of attention from the bartender (well, who else would wait on? ha ha). However, I was pretty impressed. First of all, he gave the three of us a free order of the lobster mac and cheese--it was delicious. TONS of lobster, cavatelli pasta, vermont cheddar, topped with breadcrumbs. I ordered the flame grilled angus cheeseburger, which was on the lunch menu, but I believe you can order from the lunch menu at any time. It came with tomato-onion marmalade and french fries. It was well-seasoned and done to my specifications, and the fries were great. The bartender told me they are hand-cut every day and have a slight parmesan batter. The bartender was very attentive, but as I said, it was really slow so I can't comment if that is always the case. I would give this place 5 stars, but my cheeseburger was $16 which seems a little pricey, even for the Westin. And the beers were kind of pricey too. read more

Going to a restaurant in a hotel you expect to have a mark up on what you are getting. My friend and really wanted breakfast and staying in that area there is not much within walking distance so we broke down and got the buffet. It sounded like it would be good. It came with eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, cheese blitz, assorted breads, pastries, oatmeal, and fruit; all for the very "reasonable" price of $23. I found the only really good thing were the home fries and the rest of the things were 1/2 way decent. The biggest disappointment were the eggs. They didn't have the taste or consistency of fresh cooked or even liquid eggs. On the plus side it comes with unlimited coffee and orange juice so try your best to drink $20 worth of OJ. If you absolutely need to eat breakfast I would try the Starbucks in the lobby or adventure into the city, it isn't worth the money. read more

I went here for Restaurant week this past Monday. The Westin Waterfront is beautiful. We sat at the birch bar before dinner and it was very relaxing and the drinks were strong. I don't know when you'd ever end up here if you weren't staying at the hotel, but I enjoyed it. We were quickly seated in the empty restaurant. The waitress was very attentive and made some pretty good recommendations. The bread before the meal was very tasty. I was with three people and we had skewers for an app, chicken, tuna, and steak for dinner accompanied by a plethora of sauces and then 3 types of creme brulee for dessert. Loved the sauces with everything, but the mixture of the different acidic, basic, spicy, and other random sauces made every one of us feel sick after the meal. Breakfast review! So I stopped in for breakfast while staying at the Westin. I wasn't interested in the $23 breakfast buffet because I would never eat that much food. I ordered eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast for $14. The food was ok, I really wasn't expecting gourmet. The service was good, but I experienced a pet peeve when it comes to dining out, getting the check dropped off before my plate is cleared. No check should be dropped before the last meal plate is cleared from the table- unless otherwise specified. It always makes me feel rushed and unwelcomed! read more

Lunch review: The highlight was the red pepper hummus that came with breadsticks for a complementary warmup. Good stuff. I should have known better than to order the "California Omelette" approximately 3000 miles from the Pacific, but I did anyway. Having flown the red-eye into Boston and arriving at 6 in the morning, after a shower, a splash in the pool, and a nap I was ready for some breakfast. They have some special all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet for $22 per person but I couldn't imagine forcing myself to cram enough food in my gullet to make that worth while. After waiting at my table for what seemed like a good 10 minutes, I finally ordered a $14 three-egg omelette which seemed like it might be tasty. Well, it wasn't. If I remember correctly it was stuffed with stringy melted mozzarella, cold avocado pieces and bizarre watery pesto while being paired with mushy homefries. Came here during the Aug'07 restaurant week for a girl's night out. I was impressed by the decor of the restaurant and should be as it is located right inside the Westin Hotel. A waiter greeted us with his friendly southern accents and we then went on to devour the warm varieties of breads and sticks with array of dipping sauces. As the name implies the main theme of the restaurant is all about their sauces. Thus, appetizers and main entres are accompanied by dipping sauces made creatively from the kitchen. The entrees came out presentable, tasty but forgetable. But what stole the scene was the unexpectedly awesome creme brulee served in 3 different flavors - vanila, cholocate and grand marnier. I must say this is even better than Finale's. I remembered Finale's as being too sweet and less of vanilla flavor. The dessert obviously and definitely were the highlight of our evening get-together. My girlfriends still rave about going to this place just to have their creme brulee. read more

Sauciety consists of a trendy atmosphere, with clean and simple lines, expansive space and an ideal bar scene. The sauces served with the dishes can be a hit or miss. Sharing the sauces can help to determine whether the sauce should be mild, bold or spicy taste. It's all in the preference. The basket of bread was served with three sauces: roasted red hummus, roasted artichoke and roasted garlic oil. My guest and I liked dipping the different types of bread into the sauces. Our favorite was the roasted red hummus. We could not really taste artichokes in the roasted artichoke sauce. The crab cake appetizer ($11) was a thick portion, loaded with chunks of crabmeat with bits of celery in the mixture, on top of a tartar sauce. Sauciety's most popular appetizer is the grilled skewers. This dish can be easily shared and is popular with the after-work crowd. Diners can select chicken, steak, shrimp or vegetable, which are served with chimichurri (green sauce) and roasted red pepper sauce. We came in about 2:30 in the afternoon on day 1 of the seafood expo, so I'm going to be a little lenient, assuming the waitstaff was tired from a very busy lunch. We had to ask for another table because we were sat at a wobbly one right by the noisy entrance to the kitchen. This wasn't an issue since the dining room was more than half empty. Then we had to ask for a server to come take our order after waiting too long. Food then came out quickly which was nice. But then, so did the check, while we were still finishing our meals. Menu looked very good. Seafood soup was OK. Sweet potato fries were disappointing. Spinach salad was good. Bussers were sloppy and unfriendly and servers were undisciplined and tired. Like I said earlier, was probably bad luck coming at the end of a busy lunch, but one would expect that staff at a location like this would be used to that. read more

How sad I am about this place!!! After reading the hype and hoping for a super experience, I am sad to say that Sauciety did not rise to the occasion. I went for lunch a few weeks ago and it was packed. I don't mind waiting and the wait was not unreasonable. Once we were seated, a server took our drink order. I don't think she ever came back. Another server took our drink order and finally we get drinks. Yet another person took our order and it took quite a while. The food portions were small and the salad was tasty, but the last entree was incorrect. We had to wait another few minutes for our friends order to come out. All in all, it was a very disjointed experience and I can't say that anyone left happy. Maybe my expectations were too high? It's a really good idea, and I have to be honest, I first reviewed Sauciety based on what a friend told me. I went there this past weekend and it was horrible. Our waiter was miserable and checked on us once throughout the meal. All of our dishes came at different times and we didn't get served our "before meal" bread until halfway through our main course. My friends and I went there for Restaurant week, we had reservations for 7 p.m. the place was less than half empty, which made it a great atmosphere as the noise level was nil. The food was excellent, the Mussels where the best I've ever had, the Mahi was superb and so was the bread pudding. However the portions where really small, not that I'd want my plate full of food but there has to be a happy medium. Still our waitress was really friendly and on top of her game. I was there for Saturday Brunch. Table was seated fast, yet the waiter was just not doing his job. First, no water, no bread served. Waited for 15 minutes, my tuna hamburger was cold because it's been siting waiting for my boyfriend's fish and chips to be ready. Not only the burger was cold, the bread has a funny refrigerator taste; the fired onion is not freshly prepared. When we finished, we waited for our waiter for 15 minutes when he was standing in the bar chatting with other waitresses. American cuisine with a twist... happen to run into it while on vacation. It's the only restaurant in the Westin Boston Waterfront (according to the conceirge) but they make it a decent one. Parking is expensive just like many places in Boston, there is some street parking several blocks down. As you enter through the main entrance, you'll walk up to the wide open entry and notice a modern and stylish decor with high ceilings. Tried this place both for breakfast and dinner: Breakfast/Brunch: Easy to get a table on weekday, breakfast here is fairly expensive but the food quality is great. If you wanna splurge, try the $21 buffet which includes all-you-care-to-eat fresh fruit (berries, melons, pineapple), yogurt parfait, oatmeal, danish pastries, bagels, cereal, smoked salmon, cold cuts, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, etc.. It inclues your choice of juice and coffee too. Everything tasted good, and the waiters will make sure to take away your old plate. Not a bad choice for brunch. Dinner: We didn't have reservations for a Thursday dinner, but our party of six was seated promptly. It was a lot of fun mainly cuz we had an absolutely awesome waitress. Very friendly and attentive, she immediately let us in on the 15 unique "sauces" that signifies the name of the restaurant. Check it out: your entree comes with two choices of sauce ranging from mild-bold-spicy. The menu is fairly standard, can start with clam chowdah or crab cakes and entrees range from steak, pork chop, swordfish, seared tuna, etc.. The interesting thing is you can mix and match your food by dipping them with all the different sauces. Steak particularly goes well with spicy-peppercorn, and swordfish will taste interesting with the lobster-vanilla foam. Our waitress suggested the pairings, and you can go with several of your friends and share each other's sauces! We were staying at the Westin during a blizzard, so we decided to have brunch at Sauciety on a Sunday morning. Surprisingly, it wasn't busy at all. The hostess seemed annoyed we were interrupting her conversation and never made eye contact. The wait staff was friendly, but didn't seem well trained. Both servers we dealt with had to go back and forth to the kitchen to ask questions about what was available and we had to ask for refills/second drinks 2 or 3 times before they remembered. I received the wrong salad, my husband received the wrong side item, the waffle was overdone...it was a mess. read more

Apparently people have had bad experiences here for lunch, but if you're a guest at the hotel the breakfast experience is perfect. Every single food item in the buffet is amazing- they really put care into cooking their food. The service was extremely fast, knowing that guests (like me) are often here for breakfast very early trying to get in and out quick. No complaints. read more
