I've been driving by this place for the past few months, wanting to try it but just not finding the time. I am glad I finally went in! The person who took my order was welcoming and very helpful. He explained all the types of sauces. The menu has many choices but not an overwhelming number which usually tells me that they pay attention to each dish they make and focus on flavor. And, they do! I had the pibil chicken bowl which was a generous portion for the price. It was absolutely delicious as were all the sauces. I will be back soon to try some other items on the menu! read more

Indian and mexican fusion. Interesting concept, right? Caught my eye immediately. I have never had such a fusion and gave it a shot. Rather disappointing. Its not quite indian, its not quite mexican and it leaves me wanting more. I had the rotisserie chicken with both the mexican and indian flavors. Chicken was rather dry and the flavorings felt like they were caked on top. I've had significantly better rotisserie chicken. For my sides i had the cauliflower (also dry) and some potato thing (also dry). Good thing i ordered the birria taco (only thing holding up this 3* rating) which was good and a bit spicy. I've never had indian-mexican fusion before today but i have had better mexican and i've had substantially better indian. So maybe i dont "get" this place but its not something i'd try again. read more

Absolutely some of the best food I've had in LA. The flavor combinations were just incredible and the service was next level.

Not from the area and was searching for something different than my same old spots in my hometown. I found SCGM and decided to give them a try. Super nice staff made us feel welcomed. Tried a few different Tacos and some sides and everything was delicious. The Asada tacos take the cake! Some of the best tacos that I can remember having in a very long time. I went during a preview night, and ordered way too much GOOD STUFF. The co-owner was working the register, and he dared me to come back and try their traditional birria. I mean, it is birria de chivo and not the birria de res that has become mainstream and is honestly, the birria that I grew up with. He says he'll convert me, though, so there will be an update to this review. I tried the esquites, wings, chicken pibil tacos, and beans. Washed it all down with the house jamaica. That was better than any drink you could get from the 7-11 that shares the parking lot. Everything was pretty flavorful and I swear the food felt more bright and colorful than if I'd ordered tacos from a street cart or a food truck. There was a little bit of outdoor bench seating and some indoor seating. One could mis-read the sign and think the business is called Saucy Goat Chick Mafia, but I assure you it is Saucy Chick Goat Mafia. read more

The emcee stands onstage under the glow of the spotlight. The audience sits with rapt attention. "The award for most creative restaurant name goes to..." Saucy Chick Goat Mafia is such a catchy name that we were worried the food would not match our expectations. We were wrong. This is a realy special place. The cuisine is a delightful fusion of traditional Indian and Mexican elements. This wonderful concept works to perfection! We ordered the two styles of Chicken Rotisserie Bowls. These both have a variety of items included in the respective bowls which allowed us to sample several taste sensations from the tempting menu. The first chicken rotisserie bowl, the pibil, contained hand pulled rotisserie chicken, jeera rice, Mom's beans, and fenugreek esquites. The other chicken rotisserie bowl, a jeera, was constructed with hand pulled rotisserie chicken, jeera rice, mayocoba beans, and we substituted the fenugreek esquites for the kachumber salad (blame my darn nut sensitivity!). The chicken in the pibil was perfectly cooked and pulled and had great spicing. The jeera rice had a light cumin spicing which was delightful! The Mom's beans are soooooo good whipping together pinto beans, chorizo, jalapenos, cheeses and Mom's love. We loved it too! The fenugreek esquites were a traditional Mexican street corn with the addition of kasoori fenugreek. Hard to describe but this works perfectly. The other bowl, the jeera, had the hand pulled rotisserie chicken, the jeera rice, and our substituted esquites. The other yummy element here was the mayocoba beans which were excellent. We are committed to making this part of our regular rotation of favorites in the Pasadena area. So many other enticing options to try on the menu! read more

Came here today, got the goat bowl, Asada tacos and 1/4 jeera chicken plus a chicken quesadilla for my kids. I gotta say everything was delicious. I enjoyed the extra sauces they provided. The salad tacos were almost $20 but they were definitely worth it full of flavor and high-quality Asada meat. I was there when it opened and saw the chickens coming out of the oven looked very fresh. First time here, honest thoughts: We got the 5 tacos to try for $25 I believe they use Mexican and Indian seasonings but the Indian ones are def a lot more noticeable in the flavor of each. I'm Mexican and the flavors were definitely different than I'm used to but they were still good My favorite part is that they have a lot of meat so they don't skimp out on the protein. The presentation of the platter was also nice. Most of the seating is outside and it is kept clean and designed nice. The service was great the worker at the register asked if we had any questions so very friendly and helpful. They also have free water with cucumber for flavor inside. I recommend this place if are looking for some Indian flavors and are pretty hungry since the food is loaded with protein (plus we got free chips). read more

Ok, I really love this place. We saw this place on Yelp and just had to try it based on the cuisine - Indian and Mexican fusion. We arrived late Saturday afternoon for dinner during the soft opening. There are ~4 benches out in the front for eating and they were full when we got there. I was afraid we weren't going to find space, but we were able to grab a seat just fine. I think the ambiance was pretty nice. You sit outside after you order on these picnic benches and it's comfortable. Another thing, great customer service. They were very friendly, recommended some dishes to us, and asked us how our meal was. They served our food in a reasonable amount of time too. The food was scrumptious. We ordered the Jeera rotisserie chicken and 3 tacos - the pibil chicken, skirt steak asada, and the birria queso. I particularly liked the pickled onions added to the skirt steak asada and birria queso. It gives the taco this extra crunch and refreshing sourness. The pibil chicken is pretty good. It's less oily than the other two due to the choice of meat, so would recommend it too. The rotisserie chicken also came with some sides and sauces. We chose the Ambli Molasses, GG sauce, and the Raita. I liked the Ambli Molasses the most - it has these sweet and sour notes that I found refreshing. And we got Mom's Beans and Papa's con Chorizo as sides. They're both tasty additions and very filling. The chicken itself is very tender and the seasoning is quite unique. Anyways, would definitely recommend giving this place a try. When we left, there was a relatively long line at the front, so this place is going to be popping once more time passes! read more

We stopped in after learning about this eatery while reading the Critics Choice page in 'The Week' magazine. While the article raved about the uniqueness of the food, we actually found it one step higher and even better than described. It was the day after Thanksgiving and we wanted something different, a special taste....and we got it! We had three separate dishes, all to their own with their flavors & aroma punctuating the air around us.
