I enjoy coming to this place because of the decor, food and staff. The decor is what brings you in and the food makes you come back. All fresh ingredients and tasty pizza. I chose to build my own pizza and selected broccoli, ground beef and tomatoes as my topping. The bread sticks are simple but enjoyable. There's more than enough food for two people with a small pizza. Another thing to note is Little Five Points is my favorite Area in Atlanta so Savage couldn't be in a better spot to visit. All surrounding shops you can walk to. Try to find street parking otherwise during the day the center charges for parking due to limited space. read more

First of all who doesn't like a "Please seat yourself" establishment???? This restaurant is on the small side. But if you're just looking for a quick bit. But something that is not the norm. You have come to the right place. I love the comic theme throughout the restaurant. I ordered a small Mai Pai. Our order came out fresh and in a timely manner. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the best. I rate their cleanliness a 7.3. Because there was graffiti in the bathroom that was NOT a part of the comic theme. I haven't yet been within Savage's walls, but I must say their delivery service is mighty nice. They're always super friendly on the phone, and I'm always quite embarrassed answering my door in PJs or sweats when the cute little hipster delivery boys arrive with my pie. The food is always quite splendid: I really like their pizza. The crust isn't too thin or too thick, not too chewy or crunchy: juuuust right. And I agree with the other reviewers: the Greek salad is mighty awesome. But what really puts me over the top is the fact that they will happily deliver, to my door, with no effort of my own, a slice of Alon's midnight express cake-- my most favorite cake in the world. Hey, Savage Pizza. You're cool and seem like a place I'd like to be friends with. Let's make this thing official by eating all of your pizzas in the middle of chaotically packing up our entire apartment and not having plates to eat off of. Sound good? Did just that and I only wish that we had the chance to patronize this place a few more times. I mean, pizza is always good and sounds fantastic at any point in the day, but Savage takes it a step further than just dough, sauce, and cheese. The Sav-Veg was a delightful collection of veggies atop delicious crust and lightly-speckled cheeses. The seasoned ricotta and broccoli were incredibly bright flavors amongst the deeper flavors of the roasted peppers and sun-dried tomatoes. Huge fan of this pizza for sure. Also, since I was in the company of other meat-eating family members, we decided to try the Pizza Buttafuco. I'm not always a huge fan of meaty pizzas, but this one was pretty nice. Not piled high with a bunch of well-done meats and carefully thought out. Also, both pizzas we ordered were mediums and easy to share between the three of us. Also, the salads were great as well. Not as memorable as the pizzas, but definitely fantastic. Pick up was super easy, too. Standard and simple. I know the other Robert M. (Mr. Pizza Expert) will certainly disagree with me on this but Savage does pizza very, very well. No it is not up to par with Antico; however, Savage still does a damn fine job. Another plus is that this place does not charge you the $25+ bucks for a smallish / medium-ish size pizza (like Antico does). I do like the other nearby pizza places like Camelli's, Jacks, Fellinis, and L5P Pizza; however, I also feel this place easily beats them all with respect to tasty delicious pizzas. I have tried a good variety of the specialty pizzas that they make here and they are all knockouts. But I mostly prefer the one topping pies for sheer simplicity and goodness; you can really taste the quality of the basic ingredients (cheese, sauce, dough). I recently got a large half pepperoni / half mushroom pizza to go to bring to my mom's house. That pizza was so damn freaking good we were compelled to finish all of it. That does not happen often with other pizzas procured from other places that my mom likes (i.e. Mellow Mushroom or Athens Pizza). As far as dine-in goes, my only caveat here that I have is that I think this place has a reputation for being not very kid friendly. And I can't say that I blame them (keep in mind I say this as a person who has two kids). Kids can be a major pain in the ass with respect to stuff that they do when you take them into restaurants. Like a savage, I ripped into my pie at Savage Pizza last night, one of my favorite 'za joints in the city. Upon this visit to one of L5P's top eateries, my companion and I built our own pie on a traditional crust: spinach, feta and applewood-smoked bacon atop spicy red pepper sauce. The fresh spinach wept and wilted over the chopped bacon, crisped and not too greasy. Trying to fatten up our order for the sake of my Groupon coupon, we ordered the Alon's Midnight Cake as well: three layers of moist choco goodness, delishified with thick vanilla icing. On my cake rating scale, the dessert ranked somewhere between Kroger and Apres Diem. While I'm not a comic fanatic, I appreciate the cartoon and Anime-themed decor: action figures hang from the ceiling, while a comic collage splashes up and down the walls. In the women's restroom, I had a strong emotional reaction to one comic illustration: "Tobacco is Whacko If You're a Teen." A beautiful teen girl filled the background, looking horrified. A friend suggested we try this place out. After reading the reviews on Yelp I said lets do it! Everything on the menus seemed really good but I am a spicy lover so I went with the Cajun pizza. It was absolutely awesome !! I loved it so much I got one Togo for my daughter. I also got the Greek salad minus the anchovies and it was really good as well. Parking is tight and there isn't a lot of dine-in seating but it's cozy. They have a bunch of old comic book action figures on the wall and in the bathrooms that I thought was pretty cool. Only downfall is there was only 1 server. I dont know if it was like that just for that day or if that's how they do things. Overall 4 stars. read more

I have a problem. As much as I would like to erase my memory and just forget what I know, I can't. More and more, as I try restaurants in the young-hip-trendy and pierced Little Five Points, I'm finding them not worth the trouble. Savage Pizza, with it's unique and interesting comic-book theme, serves pizza. They'll put anything on it you want. Sure why not, that doesn't mean it'll taste good. Well, okay let's be fair, it'll satisfy you less than delivery from Dominoes. I don't know why some people seem to really like Savage Pizza, there's so much better available. Fellini's and Mellow Mushroom are both great alternatives, and nearly 200% better - all the time. They cook up a thin crust at Savage, but it doesn't really do it for me. While not as bad as the cardboard you get at Peter Piper's or Chuck-E-Cheeses, it's nearly as boring. The topings are heaped on top, and the pre-designed pizzas seem to have been made with no thought other than, I like all of these items together, let's throw a lot of them onto the pizza. The combinations are not only uninspired, but don't really add up to anything worth your time. Understand, I don't have a problem with the service, I don't have a problem with anything at Savage Pizza except the pizza. It was really disappointing, especially after so many great experiences with no problems - ever, at Mellow and Fellini's. Sorry, but save your money and go someplace else. read more

I ordered a large pepperoni pie via Postmates so I didn't get the storefront experience however I enjoyed the pizza! My deliverer took about 20-25 minutes to get to me so my pizza lost some of its warmth but it was still great. It would've been even more fire had it been piping hot. In college, I was so well known to my local pizza delivery joint that they recognized my voice when I called and were crushed to find that I was graduating and cutting their income so dramatically. Savage Pizza is the latest fling in my long affair with pizza. The pies are expertly made with a wide range of toppings and sauces to choose from. The decor is all comic books and action figures, which is great for other aging twelve year olds like me. Until 4 PM, Savage offers pizza by the slice with your choice of toppings. The specialty pizzas are my favorite, particularly the white on red pizza and the chicken florentine pizza. If you want other options than pizza, give the eggplant parm sub or the lasagna a try. This is my favorite pizza place in Atlanta. I've eaten pizza in New York, Chicago, and even Venice. I like to make my own, from scratch, including the dough and sauce. So I think I know good pizza and Savage has it. They have many fresh ingredients to choose from. Things like prosciutto, both roasted and fresh garlic and gorgonzola cheese. They have six different sauces to choose from. There are also many great specialty pizzas. I've tried most of them. The Cajun is one of my favorites. I've never had trouble finding parking, the service is usually great (they even remember what beer I like) and I've never waited long for a table. As a comicbook fan I also enjoy the decor. Really great pizza and customer service. Some friends and I wanted to take advantage of the vortex $5 Jameson shots on Saturday night but after being told it was a 45 minute wait we opted otherwise. Before that though the guy in the front of the parking lot tried to get $10 for parking but I told my friend NO WAY and to park around back near the savage pizza side. Luckily we did but this had become our next choice of food. I suggested to get a bottle and take the pizza to go. Walking inside makes you feel like a kid in an arcade! It was fun and decorative. I was next to place my order and the lady was soooo nice and helpful being that I was a first timer! I kept it simple with medium pizza with olives and mushrooms. I also asked for ranch (hey don't judge me) some red pepper flakes and Parmesan cheese. The to go waiting area is TINY!!! But we made due and had some great conversation and jokes with people while waiting. After about 10 minutes my pizza arrives and it looked and smelled amazing! Finally home I devoured it. It was simply amazing! Making me upset that I had passed this place so many times on my quest for a good pizzeria. The mushrooms were fresh and not canned like most chains and the olives were perfect and not overly salty! The crust was thin but durable enough to withstand the sauce and toppings. The medium was pretty big so I was able to have leftovers. My friends also enjoy their options and I got to taste a piece of chicken off of my friends pizza and it was DELICIOUS!!! They definitely add a premium price because they're located in Little Five Points. They have about 7 reserved parking spots right up front, which is great if you're just going there, but usually you'll go there and a few other places so in that case those spaces likely wont come in handy. read more

So I decided to go to Savage Pizza today despite the mixed reviews. It was very easy to find and thanks to the yelpers i knew to tell the parking lot attendants I was goin to Savage so it was free. The waiters were friendly and quickly took my order. I ordered a small pizza since they stop serving slices after 5 and got bacon and pepperoni on it. I ask for it to go and it was ready in about 15 min. Can't really complain about the price it was only 9 bucks. (but i guess maybe the price directly correlates with how the pizza tastes!) I got home....mouth watering....since i hadn't eaten all day...took a bite of the pizza and...YUCK.......it was nasty. The toppings are much better eaten separately than on the pizza! I won't be going here again. Very dissappointed. I should have went with my first option Nancy's Pizza instead....because it was not tasty at all. read more

What can I say...Savage Pizza is fair at best. It is o.k. for a quick slice, but there is much better in Atlanta. There is a problem with the crust: while it is thin, the underside has this strange smooth texture, kinda like old leather. The sauce has a nice spice to it, but the cheese is a combo of moz, provolone and parmesan. What's up with that? Overrated. There are comic book covers everywhere decorating the place. And I mean everywhere. In the bathroom, on the walls, at the counter, everywhere. Look up and see all of your favorite characters, and many obscure ones, looking down at you from where their statues hang from the rafters. Peek into the kitchen over small collectibles from the Marvel and DC universe, and then you remember, oh yeah, I'm here for pizza! Speaking of the pizza, I had a pesto potato pizza, which was the special for the evening. It was less than $9 for the small, which is pretty big for a single person. I also had the opportunity to try a field green salad, and the veggies therein were fresh and tasty. They also had many other interesting and traditional pizzas, and serve terrific looking sandwiches as well. As it was close to closing, a few of the employees were enjoying a sandwich, and oh my, did they look delicious. As much as I loved my pizza, I may have to go for one of those next time. Speaking of employees, I've not seen another restaurant with waitstaff and cooks so jovial about being at work. They took great care of me even while laughing and joking with myself, each other, and an older gentleman who I assume is the owner of the place. My waitress accidentally gave my pizza to the wrong table, and they were very quick to whip me up another one and throw in the aforementioned tasty salad. This place was super cool back when it was off of briarcliff back in the 56k days....or course that was in the get loaded and get pizza days too. I returned there recently and found myself the loan slacked and dry cleaned shirted amongst the skinny jeaned two tone haired crowd.... man did I feel senior. The waitress knew the deal and made me feel "in" complementing me on my shiny brown penny loafers. I sat down and the Blackberry went off. Micheal had downed a server in Australia and I had to spring into action. I booted my trusty D610 and VPN'd in. The users would be up soon and we had to get Exchange replicating before it was too late. Sweat came down my brow. The girl with the skinny jeans kids was sporting a Saosin shirt.. I wonder if she could conceive that this corpo guy liked them too. Regardless, my spinach salad arrived and I had upgraded to a Heineken from water with lemon. It was time for action. As I hastily put in a change request, I caught her eying my desktop.. it was a shot of A7X I took at a Warped tour some time ago... I smiled, she smiled. The Heineken called me to the restroom, when I returned there was a napkin with "Sara 678....." and a heart on it; written in Sharpie. The sauce was tart (not tangy, just plain old tart), the cheese was salty and the crust, though yummy tasting, was chewy and cardboard-y at the same time(awkward I know). Great pizza shop when you yearning for a bite that will fill you up. It is situated in a strip mall in Little Five Points. I have been here numerous times and they never disappoint. For it to be a pizza joint-I have to say that I throughly throughly throughly enjoy their greek salad. I usually get the large size with extra dressing and it is enough for two people. I also usually order the Joey Buttafuoco, which is jam packed with two cheeses, sausage, pepperoni canadian bacon, and ground beef. Their large pizza are served on a pizza pan and placed on a tiered tray on your table-which is great when sharing with others. The service is always fast and waiters/waitresses are always friendly. After driving by Savage pizza on several occasions in L5P, a friend and I finally decided to try the place out this past Sunday evening. There happened to be a football game on that night, so take-out seemed to be far more popular than dine-in. We ultimately decided to go with the specialty "white on white" pizza (medium = 6 slices, $15). Overall, I really wasn't impressed with the quality. The crust was paper thin, hard as cardboard, and flavorless. The toppings were sparse and equally as flavorless. Despite the quality of the food, the service was excellent. In the end, I probably won't return to Savage Pizza anytime in the foreseeable future. There are simply far too many better quick dining options in the area. read more

Once upon a time your pizza was good (like 10 years ago) and now it's horrible! What did you do to the recipe? Who is the head chef because this person needs to be fired! Seriously, I use to order a decent spinach and onion pizza pie from this place back about 10 years ago and it was so amazing. The dough seemed fresh, the sauce was great with a hint of basil and the toppings were fresh. However, the past two years I've forced myself to get past the acidic taste of the sauce, the mediocre dough and the less than fresh tasting toppings. You just know you need to change things up when a group of intoxicated people commit the next day about their poor decision in ordering from Savage. This is all that I can say. Please Savage do whatever you need to in order to regain your thrown as a decent pizza place. The first pie I had here was not what I expected. It was firm, not overly greasy, but it had a red-wine sauce instead of a traditional one- I guess that threw me because I remember thinking "meh". I really like Savage Pizza. It's one of the better pizza spots in Atlanta. Sitting right in the heart of Lil 5, Savage is honestly dirty as hell. Like I really wouldnt want to see the kitchen, but they turn out some of the best slices that you can imagine. I love the variety of pizzas, sauces, and toppings! They make the pizza extremely customizable for those of us that get tired of Dominos/Pizza Hut sticking it to us with no "Choices"!
