    Ecuadorian Hominy breakfast
    gale l.

Bright, easy-going place, great location on a corner and loved all the windows, though I'm not sure how cold they would be to sit next to during a Chicago winter. Their hominy breakfast was beautiful, but had a much milder flavor than I expected, considering all the ingredients. The green sauce that came on the side had a mild heat, I ended up adding some Cholula to provide some kick. Service was easy before 10am, but we saw the place fill up quickly and the staff clearly bustling to keep up. Nevertheless, we never had to re-ask for anything and water refills were taken care of automatically and briskly. Great place would come again, relatively easy to get to, moderate parking in the area, great 'middle place' between suburbs immediately north of the city and the NW side of the city.

Savanna Restaurant is a hidden gem! I've gone many times, to both this location and north center. The food is consistently good and service is always friendly. On this visit, I got huevos rancheros. The dish is presented so beautifully and is delicious every time I order it! Other orders on this visit were chilaquiles verdes, breakfast tacos, and a pancake combo that comes with two pancakes, two eggs, and choice of meat. Everyone enjoyed their food. It happened to be my birthday last time I went, and the staff brought a delicious carrot cake and sang happy birthday to me! So fun. I love the decor and the patio is nice when the weather allows. Lots of families frequent the restaurant and everyone's friendly. It does get busy on Sundays but the wait isn't long, even when we've had large parties.

Savanna is my friend's go-to breakfast/brunch spot for when people are visiting. I'd had one of their locations bookmarked because I thought their menu, specifically the sweet pancake selection and the Ecuadorian twists, was interesting. So when my friend and I wanted to go out for breakfast, he suggested this and another place and I happily chose this place. I got the llapingacho benedicts and tropical berry smoothie (the benedicts came with a side of house potatoes, salad, or fruit, and I got the potatoes) and my friend got the pancakes and chicken sandwich. He thought the pancakes were good but nothing special (I took a bite and also thought they were good), but he Loved the chicken sandwich and was super happy with it. I thought both the llapingachos benedict and the tropical berry smoothie were yummy, but not amazing/out of this world. I enjoyed the meal though and I'd come back again and try something new (I was eyeing the abuelitas pancakes, they look good).

We walked to Savanna on a whim, I was in the area getting an oil change. It was the best decision we made! The food was amazing, the server, Liz was so kind and welcoming. She recommended we have the Llapingachos Benedict and Mote Pillo for myself and my dad... and boy did she not steer us wrong, the food was so tasty and full of flavor.

Great service and vibe. Offered gf French toast and the waitress took us through so many options recommended. Downside was the poached egg was overcooked, and the potatoes requested well done were not crispy. Would go back

Amazing food and service. The people here are kind. The strawberry smoothie is possibly one of the best smoothies I have ever had. Savanna is very colorful and well lit. The music they play is not very loud so you can have a normal conversation but it's not too quiet. Over all Savavnna is an amazing restaurant!

Our new breakfast spot. We started our journey here with mole chilaquiles, tinga tostadas and tres leches french toast to share in the middle. Everything was nicely plated, fresh and absolutely delicious. Service was great and wifey loved the vibe. The menu is extensive and there is something for everyone here. Pricing is in the middle and well worth it. Easy parking and room to breathe in the dining room. THIS IS THE NEW SPOT! Thank you

Just randomly searched up a breakfast restaurant while I was in the area(used Yelp of course!) and came across this gem!. I went on a Sunday around noon and got seated immediately. I chose to sit on their sidewalk patio. Very nice ambiance and super cozy! Ordered the signature omelette which was called "the savanna". This thing was amazing! We'll seasoned and a nice size. I was feeling greedy after my 3hr road trip so I ordered the French toast also!(don't judge me!). Everything was so fresh and warm! Great establishment! Keep up the good work!

What we ordered: Red Velvet pancakes, vanilla milkshake, mango/strawberry smoothie (drinks not pictured) and Llapingachos Benedict. For me the star of the show was the Llapingachos Benny, made with Ecuadorian potatoes cakes, grill tomatoes, pork chorizo, poached eggs and chipotle hollandaise with house potatoes served on the side. I switched the pork chorizo for turkey, which was very flavorful and not lacking--I switched the potatoes for fresh fruit. The only thing that would have made this even more irresistible was if it were served more hot to temperature. Now I will say what turned it up a notch was adding some Cholula hot sauce, excellent flavor component. The service was good and the restaurant gives family vibes.

Glad we decided to stop in while passing through the neighborhood-service was attentive, the food came out quickly, and everything was absolutely delicious. Open windows provided a breezy escape from the heat.

Food here is plated beautifully, quality ingredients, and tasty. They also have a nice array of juices and coffee beverages. Enjoyed the open air windows and lively music while we had a lovely Saturday brunch. Service was pretty quick and just the right amount of attention.

There is outdoor seating under a pergola lined with semi-private planters, while the inside features a bar, high tops, low tops, and large booths. The music was upbeat, giving the space an elevated lounge vibe that pairs really well with the upholstered booths and vintage industrial design. I ordered the Wolf Burger, which is a whopping three-patty burger. That first bite was juicy and pure bliss--a total explosion of great flavors. It was a little messy (like all burgers with an egg), but the extra liquid was perfect for balancing the density of such a meaty burger. The soft bun soaked in a lot of those juices with each bite, intensifying the flavor as I ate more. The fries were thin and on the greasier side--not my personal favorite, but they worked alright as a vehicle for the sauce. Speaking of which, the chili aioli served with the fries was fantastic. We also got the mac and cheese, which hit a great balance between rich and creamy without feeling excessively wet. The boat it came in was a bit small, making it a little messy to scoop out with the serving spoon, but it was soooo good. Overall, it is absolutely a fantastic neighborhood place for comfort food and drinks with friends in a great space!

There are tractor toys on the barn, adorable EIEIO shirts for the staff, and wonderful paintings hanging on the walls leaning into the farm bar name. We ordered the Wisconsin cheese curds (ooey gooey goodness) and heirloom tomato salad (special of the night it was wonderful and crunchy), a few cocktails (the corn to be wild one is incredible) and as mains the hot honey chicken sandwich (amazing) plus the half chicken (tasty). Service was great and everyone is super friendly. Will definitely be coming back in the future. The only reason I'm giving four instead of five stars was that I felt there was a lack of vegetable options on the menu. I wasn't sure if my main came with any vegetables but I didn't see any additional sides on the menu that could be ordered for the meal. Consider adding two veggie side dishes such as carrots or asparagus that can be ordered with any meal. Alternatively you could have the salmon Caesar salad as a half portion option in addition to the full option.

Half slab ribs, fries, coleslaw. So good. Ribs were tender and not at all greasy, the sauce was pleasant, the fries are classic McDonald's style and perfect, and the coleslaw evokes Popeye's. A great dish. Deep fried shrimp appetizer is an excellent starter. They have a small but high quality bourbon and rye selection, and make a great Manhattan. My noble bourbon boozers will love it. Hope to return soon for the Fried Chicken, burger, fish and chips, salmon. The NY Strip is prime, for only $42. Old wood bar, dining room, covered all season beer garden, very friendly service. Good times! A note about accessibility: This is an old, rambing building but they've done what they can to make it accessible. There is a long ramp at the side of the building which a wheelchair can navigate. There is a bit of bump to cross the threshhold into the covered patio in back. There are low tops in the patio, the bar area, and the dining room. There is another bump to roll over to get into the dining room, but it is manageable. The men's bathroom can accommodate a wheelchair, but the stall is not be enough for a wheelchair to get in - transferring could be difficult/not possible depending on one's individual situation. I came here specifically for the burger that has a fried mac and cheese patty on it. I'm a sucker for those, and it did not disappoint! We first shared the giant pretzel which was really good. I wish it had more salt but the texture was really good. My husband ordered the blackened chicken pasta- the chicken was really well seasoned and cooked, and the pasta sauce was tasty. My burger was so good, but absolutely massive. Overall this was an excellent dinner and such a great neighborhood place, we will definitely be back!
