Passing through and saw that this place had good Yelp reviews. We were greeted upon entry and waited a few minutes for a table to be cleared/cleaned for us. The family size salad was plenty for three adults and very fresh. The blend of Muenster and Mozzarella Cheese is new to me but very good on the salad and pizza. Exactly what I needed after doing the incline! Pizza was delicious. We got the sausage, jalapeno and green chile. I usually get overwhelmed when people put green chile on everything but they put just the right amount. The best part of this restaurant is they'll give you ranch or marinara as a side for your pizza. The extra marinara really put it over the top for me. Everyone said good pizza yet once they sold and new owners the quality dropped and it's bland and yucky. Dough is bad tastes like a basic flour mixture and dry. cheese mixture tastes like the processed cheese mixes many cheap pizza places use. Not what it used to be at all. We're from KC and decided to stop in while on vacation. This place had great reviews, was close to our hotel and had its own parking lot so we were excited to try it. 6 people in our party and every absolutely loved everything we tried. The salads, pizzas and cannolis were all to die for. Avery, our server was also extremely helpful, nice and attentive. I hate doing less than favorable reviews , truth be told who cares what I've got to say right ? But man , I just can't give it any more than 3 stars . If I could do 2 1/2 I would . Let's start with the service . They were busy with "to go" orders which I understand , however , it took a minute before anyone even got my drink order . And took about another 15 before we got our drinks . Menu and restaurant just don't match up ... Now let's get to the food , the wife ordered an Italian sandwich, hot, truth be told I think I paid for something I could have made drunk at home . Just some regular old hoagie bun and mediocre meats . Best part about it was the lays chips it came with I ordered the lasagna , I was craving it , and it was satisfying to look at , but the taste was disappointing. And I was a bit thrown off cause I genuinely wanted this to be delicious . Cheese was good but other than that it was bland , definitely not worth the 15$ in my opinion , So I'm actually writing this as I wait for the check . Or for any sign of life from the wait staff . The restaurant has undergone a much needed face lift interior-wise. Gone are the grapes and dated checkerboard tablecloths. In are clean walls, modern tables and chairs and new updated menu. I had a Caprese salad and enjoyed it very much. The cheese was fresh and so were the veggies. The balsamic was a bit on the sweet side but still pleasant to cut the fattiness from the Mozzarella. Went to Savelli's after visiting the nearby cliff dwellings. Pizza and lager were excellent, and Manitou Springs has a fun arcade square to explore nearby. You really get the feeling of a quaint, yet slightly funky mountain town. I also liked the rock music from the restaurant's satellite service. Clean, with good ambiance. This is serious Italian food. We had spaghetti and meatballs along with a great lunch special that included a slice with two toppings. There is an 82 year old Italian gentleman with me today who says the meatballs are "very good" - and they must be ... hes been awful quiet since the food arrived! The slice of za is as big as the plate ... no skimping on the toppings including the cheese. So delicious! Really delicious crust - not too thin, not too heavy. I also had a side salad. Listen, for 5 bucks its a stuffed bowl with olives and tomato and their pizza blend of cheeses. Its fresh! And chose the olive oil and vinegar - its from The Olive Tap in Manitou. Today's vinegar was lavender balsamic - so good I wanted to roll around in it. Nicole was the only server at lunch time and she was ALL over it!! I ordered a Bacon Pizza. I bet you can't guess how much bacon they put on my pizza for the $2.75 charge per topping. I can say barely any! The pizza crust is terrible, it's like thick cardboard that you really need to bite hard. I did not enjoy the pizza and when I complained all they said was sorry. Not hey let us make it up to you and give you what you paid for. Nope not that. So basically I paid $15 for a cheese pizza with bacon dust on it and 3 tiny pieces of bacon. The new owners need to learn how the pizza was made before and go back to that. This pizza is terrible. Pizza sauce was OK. I do not recommend this at all. read more

Pizza, Pasta, And Subs Done Almost Right... Well, I decided to give this local establishment a visit for lunch after spending the morning at Garden of the Gods. Basically, Savelli's Pizza sounded delicious at the time as I had a hunger that only Italian cuisine could satisfy. And I won't say I was necessarily disappointed. In fact, I left with a full stomach and a good mood. When it came time to order, I requested a hand tossed pie with pepperoni, bacon, and jalapeño (My personal favorite). After this, I proceeded to ask what on their menu was best. They said that the meatball sub was a good choice because of their house made meatballs and marinara sauce. So I ordered such a sandwich. The food took only about ten minutes to arrive, as it wasn't very busy. The pizza here is just one of those pies that you must use a fork and knife. It was absolutely scrumptious, but the sub was a bit different. When I lightly grasped the meatball sub, it became evident that eating this was not going to be an easy task. The meatballs were falling out of the sub and made for a real messy predicament. My real problem was that the bread it was on had no structure and was a soggy mess. But it tasted pretty good. To close up this review, the food took me to Flavortown. This place was real. It was good. But it wasn't real good. (I still recommend it!!!) Food was good but overpriced. We called in a take-out order and ended up waiting over an hour past the time they said it would be ready. You have to stand out front and call because the doors are locked. Very confusing. To be fair, they seemed very understaffed and the employees were friendly.
