The youngster made my sandwhich and it was one of the best sandwhiches I've had in a while..such a flavorful well composed sandwhich (amazing balance of meat, cheese, vegis, bread) by such a young lad; he's going to be an excellant cook/chef if he pursues it. Its a great spot to stop by for just about anything. Its a small convenience store with a coffee and deli shop inside. perfect for stopping by before morning commute and get lunch, they use Boar's Head Deli meat which is Awesome! Products range from a few exoctic selections, to tons of organic selections. including organic produce. Freshly delivered loafs of bread, Semifreddi's my fave. Bear, wine, liquor, smokes of all sorts... alternative cleaning supplies. what doesn't this place have? Then again this is in the heart of Glenfield district, but don't let that fool ya, the owners (family owned) are cool and fun to be around. plus a tv to check out the new and/sport depending on what's on. Savemore is for all intents and purposes a convenience store. Hence, I expected to see cases of bud lite, jugs of hobo wine and 20 year old cans of spam and some diapers. What I found was a large, thoughtful selection of well priced wines and an equally impressive choice of beers. In addition, they carry fresh bread products from Semifreddi and Acme as well as a nice albeit small produce section and a deli. If the City of Piedmont allowed a corner liquor store, I imagine it would look just like this place. Except filled with rich teenagers with fake IDs and Porsches. It's a great place to grab some choice booze on your way to a friend's house or a party. Or if you're bad at math, a lottery ticket or two. And don't forget the "social, only when I drink" pack of Marlboro Ultra Lights! read more

BOYCOTT THIS PLACE!!!!! THEY ARE TERRIBLE NEIGHBORS!!!! All I have to say is that the alarm going off at all times of the night drove me out of the neighborhood. Their alarm started malfunctioning all night long last November. It was awful. After several nights of no sleep I ended up getting very sick. It's amazing how much your immune system needs sleep. As soon as it began to occur, we tried talking to the owners about the repeated disturbances throughout the night. He started yelling and being rude. We ended up having to call the cops. Not like Oakland cops do much. As soon as our lease was up we moved to Piedmont. It was all the fault of this terrible terrible place. Also, their prices are very high. But mostly, this place is horrible for the neighborhood and couldn't care less about the residents who live there. They need to be put out of business for all of the misery they have caused! read more

There were 5 employees or friends of employees hanging out and not wearing face masks, yelling from one end of the the shop to the other, masks on their chins, not maintaining 6' distance. What world do you live on? NO DOUBT THE BEST CORNER MARKET I HAVE EVER HAD!!!!!!!!!!! I live right next to it as well and was not ever bothered by a loud alarm, or have I ever been talked rudely to. These guys are great. Friendly and honest. They have more choices than any Safeway or Albertson's and the prices are not much more. Definitely cheaper than Whole Paycheck. They actually are the thing I will miss most if I ever move out of the Glenview. I know I can go there and pick up anything I may need until 11 at night. Ever witness a friendly fight? Voices are raised, names are called, but insults are slung with a smirk? The guys that run this place are always in mid-spat every time I walk in. It is so normal that you can tell that the non-regulars by the fact that they react to the yelling. Not to worry, it is an integral part of the success of this place. Just go with it. What matters is that Savemore stocks Acme bread, fresh produce, a decent selection of cheeses, and Ben and Jerry's. It is a bit more expensive, but that is the cost of convenience... I've been a Glenview resident for nearly 12 years and Savemore is a neighborhood institution. First of all, the level of service they provide is outstanding. Omar and family are not only hilarious and easy to talk to, but it's apparent that they truly care about their customers and the community. Their selection of organic groceries and interesting snacks is outright impressive. (How do they fit so much in?! We may never know.) Plus, there's a small deli/coffee section for on-the-go meals that can also be enjoyed at the tables outside the store while you people-watch the patrons of Park Blvd. read more

My true corner store down the road from my beloved Savemore, are purists when it comes to wine. They only sell cheap, cheap hooch. Think Bartles & James, Barefoot (every, I mean every flavor) and Boone's Farm. So believe me when I say that I am forever grateful for it's proximity to my home, and selection of wine, at Savemore. (Why doesn't Oakland have a wine delivery service? Just saying...) What goes best with wine? (Cue Bridget Jones-esque comments). Chocolate! Although I'm not really a chocolate aficionado, I partake now and then. I will go out on a limb and say that Savemore has the best selection of chocolate in Oakland for a cornerstone. Beyond the usual fare, they also have fresh bread delivered, some decent veggies/fruits, and organic microwave meals. They obviously cater to the people who live in the hills and target the bougie Oakland scene. I cross over 580 and meander up the hill to partake in the fabulousness of Savemore, but they don't shun me, they welcome me with open arms and feed my wine obsession. read more

This is not a liquor store, it's like a mini Whole Foods in my neighborhood. The store is tiny but they tightly (and neatly) pack in every organic and unique goods possible, it's fantastic! They have things I have never seen in any other specialty shop, and their prices are not entirely too high. And because of its proximity to my house, the convenience of time/gas/outfit saved trumps saving $1-2 dollars. There is something new every time you go in here, they have all kinds of specialty teas in the fridge area, desserts too (like cakes from Just Desserts), and best of all, a HUGE HUGE HUGE variety of ice cream - some that I have never seen before. They even have my favorite Pommery Pop Pink Rose and my favorite ciders in all flavors (it's hard to find these anywhere, esp. at a huge supermarket chain), so I never have to drive anywhere to get it. Tons of stuff to buy and/or bring to a friend's house to try out & drink. You will definitely never see a shop like this in your neighborhood & I'm sure whatever shop you go to doesn't have a fraction of what this store carries. It truly amazes me every time I go in and find all these things (esp. the ice cream) that I want to buy! it's a hidden little gem in Glenview. The owners/staff are really laid back, friendly, and overall a VERY responsible store in backing the community and neighborhood avid shoppers. I see their support for the community with stickers to ask people to drive slower on Park Blvd. as well as a donation cup to support Glenview Elementary (the best elementary school ever, by the way!). This place is awesome!!! It's tiny, but somehow they seem to pack it in with anything you could possibly need, from quick snacks and drinks to ingredients for an elaborate dinner. Almost everything they have is fresh and organic. It's clear that they're conscious about buying environmentally friendly and healthy products for their customers. The owners/employees are super funny and friendly, and my husband and I love coming here. Although, contrary to their name, they are slightly pricier than bigger grocery stores so we don't do all of our grocery shopping here. But, they are a great alternative for picking up just a few things or when you don't feel like looking for parking or standing in line at trader joe's. read more

This place is the best neighborhood shop! They've saved us so many times with their magical shelves of everything under the sun! It's a bit pricey in that corner shop kind of way, but they have great quality products and organic produce. If I ever need less than about 8 things, this is where I go. Best of all, the staff here are the sweetest batch of awesome people. They really are a great part of the community, and you can tell they're always striving to please and improve however they can and are totally working their booties off! I've lived in the Glenview for almost 30 years and Savemore Market is my go-to place. Omar and family are the BEST ! Always lots going on and they are all so very friendly. I appreciate that they understand the neighborhood and not only have all the things you would expect from a small market, but also a bit more upscale items in their frozen foods and dry goods area. And fresh produce. The serve Peets (coffee and lattes), so we always get our coffees at Savemore rather than the coffee shop next door. The only drawback is that parking on Park Blvd can be a pain. But if you know the hidden places (or can walk), drop in and marvel at what a small market can provide. I only wish other small market owners would take note. Savemore makes Glenview a great neighborhood. This is a wonderful neighborhood store, with a large variety of items packed into a small space. They now have a larger produce section outside, kouign amann pastries from local Starter bakery. Their beer and liquor section is nice as well. Racer 5 is my common purchase. They have a variety of California and Belgian beers. If you want something added to their selection, ask them. They will make an attempt at finding it. They don't have everything. Savemore has a great selection of coffee and chocolate, also wine. They have been most helpful during this past pandemic year, including collecting donations for local food banks. Am happy I gave them another try - just remember this is not a budget grocery store, more in line with Piedmont Grocery or Whole Foods. read more

My son and I stop here after his martial arts lessons (See Baker Martial Arts). They have a surprisingly good selection of wine, beers, and basic and specialty foods for a store of this size. Simply an awesome corner market. I got turned onto Savemore when I moved to Glenview, and was probably there every day for the next three years buying something or other. Since I relocated to Adam's Point, I'll still go out of my way to go there sometimes when a 7-11 is much closer, due to the insane variety of stuff Savemore offers! Granted the prices on some items are higher than large chain grocery stores, but that's to be expected from any corner market and is no reason to deduct a star. Most importantly, Omar and his family are just amazingly nice, helpful people and a real asset to the community. I'd highly recommend Savemore for any and all last minute shopping needs. read more

This is the perfect neighborhood market. The owners are friendly and there is a surprising selection of fruits and veggies, as well as beer and snack foods. Minus one star because the other day I saw a gross looking bug running around in a package of brownies. Savemore's name and simple store front don't really indicate the quality of the food you can find in this store. Along with a decent selection of liquors and a small array of your typical drugstore items, it's got your general food staples, some local and organic foods, and even gourmet selections. It's a tiny bit pricier than I'd pay at Lucky's or Safeway, but it's within walking distance to my house and the convenience is definitely worth a couple of dimes here or there. Plus, the owners are very friendly and there's always something interesting on the television (as another reviewer mentions, it's sparked some great political conversations). Oh! I discovered Savemore Market in the same neighborhood as my daughter's pediatrician. The people who run the coffee stand inside usually linger outside, pierced faces and all (Okay, just the young lady.). The market itself is often bustling with activity, notably the boisterous employees. If you can get past the local color, expect outstanding prices on fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy produce and the like. While I saw bacon, eggs and cheese, I didn't see a butcher, or even packaged meats available for purchase. I did see plenty of canned fish. Savemore is just that. I spent just shy of fifty dollars and I brought home enough food for about ten days. read more
