Our family came here last night for dinner. I had read online about this place and we weren't disappointed at the end of the dinner! We had to add a person to the resy last min and they accommodated us without a problem. Rachel greeted us with a big smile and explained the specials to us. I am a big wine person and she was very patient in making suggestions and bringing samples for me to try. I had a glass of Argentinian Chardonnay, a well made wine and very reasonable. I chose this restaurant because it has something on the menu for everyone and my kids are picky and unadventurous. We got the onion soup, pizza, lamb shank, risotto, salmon and the bacon wrapped chicken. Everything was delicious! My risotto was cooked just right, not too al dente, not mushy, fresh mushrooms, not too cheesy or creamy and with just the right amount of flavor. My son who only eats burgers tried the salmon and he even liked it! The only thing we are slightly disappointed was the pizza, mostly the crust, it was bit too doughy. It was not bad, just we are more of the neopolitan type pizza lovers. It was well executed with gorgonzola, caramelized onions, arugula and prosciutto cut thinly. Brittany the manager came to check on us several times. She's also in charge of the wine program and I have to say, it's an excellent, well-thought out wine list. I recommend making reservations for the weekend; we called the week before and they were able to accommodate our group of 10 for an early dinner. Beautiful restaurant! We decided on Savoir for a night cap and arrived about an hour before closing. We sat at the bar and were greeted immediately upon sitting with water and menus. I asked for a dessert menu since that was about all I wanted, but ended up ordering a Winter Thorn mocktail. My friends ordered cocktails and for food, I got the bread pudding and they ordered a side of fries. Everything was quite delicious. I had seen an article about this restaurant closing and recently reopening under new ownership. Since it's August, aka Houston Restaurant Weeks, I checked if they were on the list and sure enough, they were! The menu was intriguing, so we booked a dinner for 4 on a Wednesday night. All the food we ordered was excellent (foie gras, octopus, gambas al ajillo, lamb shank, chicken Provençal, beef short ribs, s'mores tart, tiramisu, and crepe suzette). Delicious flavors and beautiful presentation. The only thing I was slightly disappointed with was the lack of marrow in the lamb shank bone. We started with cocktails, which were all good and unique, but not quite as exceptional as the food. What really stood out to me was the service. This place is still working out some kinks, but they take their mistakes with grace and are quick to make things right. Still learning, but very professional and they obviously have good mentorship. We ordered a bunch of apps to share. We ordered the burrata tomato salad, frites, jamon, and cheese and honey. I had full view of the kitchen and could see our order just sitting at the window. There was food for other tables as well. Everything sat for a long time with no service staff around. Granted 3 out of our 4 apps were cold dishes it was just wild to see it sitting there for a long time. The food arrived and they were good. The frites were crispy, jamon had a nice hit of black pepper and the cheese plate had a great blue cheese, Brie toast points with fresh strawberries and honey. The burrata salad could've used more burrata and the balsamic was a bit watered down. We added a margarita pizza. It was fine. Needed some pepper or herbs to offset the tomato. We sat at the bar and had a really good experience with the bartender. Even though he was covering the whole bar, he was attentive and friendly. We both ordered the steak and eggs. The first thing that catches your eye is the ambiance of the restaurant. If you're looking for a place to feel a bit elegant in the Heights this is definitely one of the places I recommend. I went here for an event for a friend, and they had a breakfast spread. From bacon, eggs, avocado toast, fries and all. The food was a bit bland, but in terms of flavor everything was pretty delicious. I highly recommend the honey butter chicken. That was probably one of the best ones I've had in awhile.
