    Salted caramel cold brew
    Miranda R.

Super quick, affordable, comfortable and quality coffee chain spot! I went here per a recommendation from a friend for their cold brew, and boy, it didn't disappoint! It was so good that I came back the next day to get another! The regular cold brew (only $3 for a small) is extremely smooth, I must say one of the best cold brews offered by any chain. It somehow does not posses any of that sharp, acidic aftertaste you often get from cold brew- it is truly so smooth and almost creamy even when it is black. The salted caramel cold brew literally tasted like a latte, so somehow when mixed with cream/ flavor this cold brew tastes of espresso , but has that extra caffeine kick! Both of these drinks were absolutely delightful. You definitely have to try the cold brew! As far as this specific location- the baristas were so delightful and helpful. The service was extremely quick. I will say the first time I was there, it was a little bit messy, but could probably be attributed to the busy hour. There are plenty of seats - and even outdoor seating, but no parking, so I would walk or park (only for quick run-ins) at 7-11 across the street. Pretty accessible and on a busy street with plenty to do! I 100% recommend stopping by just to try the cold brew!

Employee then handling customer's sandwich mid-eye digging. Didnt even think about washing her hands.

Allergy season sucks, right? What does this have to do with my coffee/breakfast sandwich order? Well, while waiting for my food, I couldn't help but notice an employee standing behind the counter. And for a total of about 4.5 minutes, I watched her rub her eyes. Like finger deep into her eye goop over, and over, and over again. I couldn't help but stare, and think, why does she have to do this in front of everyone, or right over the fruit to make my smoothie with, or next to the toaster that would toast my bagel, instead of going in the back and handling her business? And yes, allergies or getting something in our eye, happens to the best of us. But the clincher is this. In between all of this eye digging, she proceeded to go to the touchscreen register, and start ringing someone up, wiping that eye goop all over that screen for the next person to rub on. AND THEN, a customer had an issue with her sandwich, something like, it needed to be reheated or something, so the employee reached out with these unwashed fingers, and grabbed her sandwich and started handling it. I was just disgusted watching this all happen. Have these people been taught any food industry/sanitary standards? Luckily, I watched another girl make my sandwich, and used this to justify eating my breakfast since i was starving. When i got up to leave, the same girl was still standing in the dead center of the service counter, now stuffing food in her mouth with one hand, playing on her cellphone with the other. Am i the only one who doesn't want to eat here ever again after seeing this? Make sure to check out my 2 photos showing this - one of her digging at her eyes, and the other of her grabbing the woman's sandwich. If you see her working, tell her you want someone else to make your food!

I got small hot latte and it was the BEST latte I've ever had. It had very rich taste and I liked the smell of it. My friend got cold latte and it was also good, but that hot steamy latte was the best thing I've had in Philadelphia. Wish I could find Saxbys in NY!

~Student run ~Study friendly ~Clean bathrooms ~Long wait (food) This place was pretty wicked-ish. The coffee was decently balanced and the space was nicely decorated and had plenty of large tables to sit at. The food was affordable, and was ok tasting, but for some reason took a good 10 or so minutes to come out. It wasn't a issue for me as I was sitting with my friend enjoying my coffee, but I wouldn't come here for a bite unless you plan on sitting.

Always been a big fan of Saxbys. The sandwiches are great size and so are the drink qualities! Some of the baristas I've encountered with are friendly and helpful. I understand the frustration below Yelpers have experienced with their customer service; although there are more friendly baristas than "not". I definitely can cut them some slack, balancing school and work is a difficult task. In conclusion I love being there!

We ordered our drinks on the walk there and we hoped they would be ready when we arrived. When we walked in the time changed to add about 15 min on which was a bit annoying however we were not in a rush so we calmly waited. I got the hot matcha latte and it was really good. I like only a drop of sweetener bc I like to taste the matcha. I like it served temperature hot (not warm)- and this drink arrived exactly the way I like it. Would def come back for another one. My bf got some kind of coffee w cardamom in it (sorry I forget which kind - I'm not a coffee drinker and they all sound the same to me ha). He really enjoyed his drink. He had a BOGO coupon so we each actually got 2 drinks. I planned to take my second one home but the drink was so good I drank both of them ha. Will def be back again.

What…read moreI appreciated about Haraz on the day I visited was the late hours they kept, I visited on a Saturday night and it was buzzing. It's the fanciest looking coffee house I ever visited, there's outside seating which is nice and the inside is lit up with warm yellow lighting throughout, very spacious with tables and wicker like chairs. It seems like a great spot to meet up with a friend or to visit, find a corner read or work. It looks like a family establishment, as I noticed there were children behind the register, a young man, maybe 10 years old took my order and did a great job doing so! Bravo! I purchased a vanilla hot matcha latte and a pistachio milk cake, the total was about $21!!! This price was expensive, visiting establishment like this often is not feasible to my budget but there's so much more I need to try so I'll be back. The matcha was amazing, actually the most authentic I've tried!!! And the pistachio milk cake was delicious, being a person who literally puts milk on cake lol, this was amazing!!! It wasn't too sweet and the pistachio gave balance! The slice is enough to share or split for 2 servings, which is what I did. Bottom line, I'll be back! I'd love to try their coffee and another pastry and possibly sit outside on a nice day. Please visit and enjoy!!!

Avril 50 was a regular stop in my patrol days and I loved walking into the shop. Always the wonderful aroma of brewing coffees and chocolate dancing with other exotic smells and the smells of fine papers and magazines. It always felt to me like stepping from West Philadelphia into a magical pocket of Europe. As it looked exactly the same, I wondered if anything had changed in the past 22 years and as soon as I crossed the threshold, I found that it was the same - like stepping back 22 years, yet somehow I was that much older. The proprietor was still there, still the same and looking no different - something that confirmed my belief that this was a magical and wonderful pocket paradise tucked away on a small West Philadelphia street. A brief catch-up chat, a shopping bag of fine teas and a perfectly brewed double-espresso to takeaway later; I stepped back into the bright Fall sun of West Philadelphia. I found myself smiling as I sipped the espresso, happy that one of the best things for me in that neighborhood has remained unchanged for others to enjoy and to continue to discover. It will not be another 22 years before I make my way back - that is for certain.

I'm still not entirely sure what the shop is supposed to be but it was an experience going there for sure. The coffee is self serve and there are several different selections, each with a short description up on the wall. My boyfriend and I each got a medium (I believe it was $2.25 per) and loved our coffee. Both were tasty and exceptionally strong. I'm not sure if they do anything fancier (lattés, etc) but I doubt it. Nonetheless, if I were a student at penn and needed a coffee this is where I would go.
