NEVER RETURNING TO PLUMMER'S. Went to buy a lamp. ready to pay for it and sales guy asks for name, address and phone number. Tell him no - he can get my name off the credit card but otherwise I am not providing information. He throws my credit card back at me and says he can't make the sale. Ask to speak to the manager. Manager shows up and I tell him I want to make a credit card purchase. He tells me that he must have my name, address and phone number. I tell him no - the VISA sales agreement says I have to present my VISA card and a picture ID if necessary but it does not require me to provide address and phone number. Response "We have 40 stores and that is the way we do it so too bad". Response is no I am not giving you that information. Response from manager: "Take it up with our corporate offices. Now give me name address and phone number or we can't complete the sale". Response "Fine my phone number is (111) 111-1111. My address is 1 First Street San Diego CA.". Manager smiles "Now we can complete your sale!". Bastards. Do not support this invasion of privacy. Tell them to go to hell. read more

I ordered 4 huge bookcases (7' tall, 40" wide) with two sets of doors on each. Kathleen made the ordering a breeze, made sure that all of my questions were answered, and set up delivery and assembly for the following weekend (at my request -- I needed some time to make room). The delivery contractors (Norse-Men) were the best. They gave me a 2-hour delivery window and showed up on time. They took great care to protect my wood flooring during assembly, lined the doors up perfectly, made sure the bookcases were leveled, and cleaned up everything. I can't say enough about how smooth the entire process was. The experience at Plummers was good, but it was the care and attention of the delivery folks that really made this a 5-star experience. read more

Some of the pieces are 20 years old and still look new. Good quality furniture especially for the price. Good value. A friend recommended this place to me when I told her I needed to remodel my living room. The pieces are more modern/contemporary but beware of the quality. ALL of the coffee tables I saw looked like the screws that were holding the pieces together were starting to go through the veneer on top. If you go for something from this store, I would recommend to go with glass pieces or to make sure that the wood is real. For the quality, I would say that it is a bit too pricey as well. The prices should be comparable to IKEA. read more

5 stars for sure and we'd give them 10 if we could. Our experience started by viewing a wide array of attractive and reasonably priced furniture. It was almost immediately improved by interior design assistance from Art, their manager. Our situation was complicated in that we were furnishing a new home in southern Utah, generally figuring it couldn't be done from there. Art worked out all the shipping details and today the items were delivered even earlier than promised, flawlessly, by two very customer friendly representatives. I have no idea where else you'd find this level of service in San Diego. This was a flawless as a local delivery. Art is a master at his craft and a refreshing can-do attitude. Totally recommend. We looked at maybe 20 different furniture stores for the "right" set of chairs for our living room and most didn't fit our decor or were too expensive Scandinavian Designs had several chairs that did fit our room and their prices were great too. Large selection of sleek elegant furniture, at decent prices. Beautiful spacious store, no sales pressure whatsoever, very pleasant atmosphere. The clearance section is also worth perusing. We had to come back a few times to make sure we selected just the right reclining sofa. Corrin was very patient and pleasant with us and helped us with all of our pesky questions. When we found our two red leather chairs at Plummers we loved the style and bought them. We certainly thought they would last for more than 4 years, we do not smoke or have children or pets. In 4 years they completely disintegrated and when I called the company I was told that it had one year warranty and nothing else could be done. Do not purchase from Plummers! After they make the sale, they will not care about customer service. We bought a $3500 woodcastle bedroom set and was sent a defective piece. Although it was covered under warranty, after the sale, the salespeople and customer service was terrible and painful to deal with. The Manager never got back to us and acted annoyed in regard to the defective product. However, he called us incessantly before we made the purchase. We spent $3500 and feel swindled! At had my 1st senior moment at 59. was trying to take the legs off my newly purchased leather sofa. Due to my spine surgery. I could of sworn the bolts were stripped. I've got even Allen tool out there. The gentlemen in the warehouse in San Diego is a super nice guy and all about customer service. He ordered a new sofa sent out. When the guys got here. Told them the sofa was fine and if you can get the original legs off we can save some back pain of moving and in-wrapping. I was Positive, bolts were stripped. They weren't, just very hard to see them and uses a 6mm Head. And a little torque from battery drill tool. Anyways the guys got the legs off and gave me a Allen tool for the future. This is why I buy at scandanavian designs. 14 day return policy and they just want to make you happy. Not you're dead after the sale. read more

bf and i have eyeing a specific bedroom set at plummers...the manufacturer of the furniture is an oregon company and its items are all solid wood and made in oregon which both he and are big fans of... by a stroke of new year's luck...one of the two designs went on floor-model sale and an awesome deal was scored with two nightstands, queen headboard and dresser for about $500 less than the originial price! as for the rest of the place, it's pretty typical as far as furniture places go...not as friendly as other locations (like RD that just moved locations from mercury street), but better customer service than others (ahem, a certain place in chula vista...)... read more

We just purchased a leather sofa sleeper from Scandinavian Designs and are very happy with it. Fits just right in a small TV room and matches closely with other Scandinavian leather pieces we purchased elsewhere. My experience working with Scandinavian Designs San Diego was such a joy! We recently bought a new home in San Diego and wanted to furnish with contemporary flair. I worked with Dora, a special designer-sales-representative at the store and relied on her expertise so much that I would always request her when I wished to order another item for our home. When delivery day arrived, the two men that brought our new furniture were so professional and careful in every aspect. We have three levels in our townhouse so that meant a lot of lifting up stairs. They worked quickly and efficiently and assembled everything and put in place. I would recommend Scandinavian Designs to all the folks out there who have an appreciation for contemporary furnishings. We have been shopping here since 2012, slowly finding pieces to coordinate with our mid-century Scandinavian furniture, the service is always great. We purchased a beautiful leather Ekornes recliner last July, but I've had an asthmatic response to the fumes from the leather, despite allowing it 3 months time to clear out the smell. I haven't been able to sit in the chair at all. On 10/25/20 "chatted" on line to inquire, and was directed to the store. I left a message for Kevin, and spoke to him to determine if there was anything I could do to clear the odors. I didn't expect such an empathetic response to my customer inquiry. Kevin contacted the Ekornes sales rep for suggestions, he had none. Kevin has been so gracious in taking care of this customer, attempting to help me find a suitable chair to fit my short body. I returned the chair for a cheerful refund, and will return to Scandinavian Designs based on the great service. read more
