99c pizza tastes better and fresher. Stopped at the cash register and the person on the sode taking orders didnt even greet or welcomed me until I ask if they were taking orders. Pizza soggy and sauce was pretty dry after re warming it up.
Tho I really enjoyed the ambience of this place and wanted to like it. Everything felt normal to me. The pizza wasn't even warm when reheated and the under carry was not there. Tasted like your average hot honey jalapeño slice you can get at a normal cornerstore.
Of course I had to stop by Scarr's pizza. We ordered three slices of pizza, forgot to take the pictures because we just started eating and the pizza was delicious. Crunchy, thin dough, cheesy, and an amazing combination of toppings. We got the spicy slice, regular pepperoni, and a Caprese, all the slices were good. The Knicks championship game was on, so there was no way I was sitting down to eat here. I grabbed my stuff and ate it somewhere else. It's a typical New York neighborhood. It's a nice experience, I would say...
The crust of the pizza is amazing; and I normally don't like crusts. The hot boi honey didn't taste as hot or honey as I would've thought. The Caesar salad was a surprising standout--the cash dressing was amazing. The takeout line was quite short, but we were also able to walk in pretty easily with a group of 7 Sunday at 5:30 for seating.
This has been on my bucketlist for a really long time but every time I pass by, its a super long line. Until my friends and I got miraculously lucky on a saturday night, was at a bar across the street and we noticed ZERO line. So grabbed some slices and chowed down on the street. Its definitely a good slice of pizza, but I feel pizza in general is so good in nyc that our average is someone else's best. I don't have a good meter or my tastebuds aren't refined enough to be able to tell apart the best pizzas in nyc. They all taste the same to me. So this is up there with the L'Industries to me
Great pizza. Got a large and that was $33 so it was a little pricey. I also ordered the meatball appetizer. It was good too. Total bill was around $80 with tip (and ordered three non-alcoholic drinks). Split the food with three people.
Food: I was excited to try this pizza place which is pretty well-known, but I was disappointed and underwhelmed by the food here. We tried the chicken parmesan appetizer and three different pizzas - original, hotboi (hot honey, pepperoni, and jalapenos), and the vodka pesto. Everything was just okay and nothing special. Out of the three pies, I liked the hotboi the best, but overall, we didn't find this pizza to be amazing and won't be returning. There are much better pizza places around NYC than this one. Service: Service was excellent. There was only one server in the entire dining area which was very busy. Given that she was the only one working all of the tables, she was very attentive and efficient. Ambiance: The place isn't big, but there are a good number of tables that can accommodate both small and large groups. They also have two arcade games (for free) in the dining area that you can play. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant.
Did a pizza tour and this was one of the stops. This slice was delicious and the guy who was working the bar seating was so kind and attentive. The bottom crust of this wasn't as crispy as I would've liked but the flavor was there. Perfect amount of cheese. The best part of all is that their pesto is nut free! Lots of tables and seating inside. On the day I went there was a chase event for the finals so there's was a little line outside.
New location. Still always a line. I continue to be baffled as to why. Don't get me wrong, the pizza slices here aren't horrible, but they're just not all that special. I think the best part of their slice is the thin crust that's has a nice char. However, though somewhat crispy, the dough lacks flavor and has that cardboard-ish texture. The sauce is one of the worst part of the slice because I think they use tomato paste, which creates that sweetness that I don't want on my pizza. I could be wrong about why it's sweet, maybe they just add sugar, but it's overdone regardless for me. The cheese is fine, but I wish they didn't reheat the slice and char it to the point where it's firm. The fresh pie on the counter looks pretty good, but my slice was dry and felt like what you can get at Costco. Hate to say it, this is a head scratcher. Never understood the hype from decades ago, and I still can't figure it out today.
This had been near the top of my NYC pizza list. While it was great, my expectations may have been unrealistic. The hotboi was very tasty but messy -- definitely requires two hands to get started, but after that it was smooth sailing. Anytime hot honey, jalapeños, and pepperoni are having a get together, I'm in!!! I did have a margherita slice too but it's impossible to say much about it after the lingering taste of hotboi on my palette. Service was good. Overall, while it wasn't my favorite NYC slice, it was still good and a very worthwhile visit.
We wanted to go to Bar Belly originally but it was standing room only and then saw that this was nearby, and it ended up being the perfect Friday night bar The indoor seating is so nice and they have drinks! What a fun vibe. The food was great and it was so nice being able to get service for pizza at 12am.
The wait can be long, but it's definitely worth it! Pro tip: call ahead of time to place your order and pick up a pie because the pizza is seriously worth it. Definitely get a whole pie if you can it's delicious and one of those places you have to try!
Visited Scarr's Pizza while in Manhattan. The atmosphere was classic NYC slice shop -- busy and energetic, and the service was good, with a slight wait. When you're in Manhattan, you better have a food plan, good runners, and an appetite. We popped in for a few slices -- the pizza was good, but not quite through-the-roof memorable. Overall, a good experience and worth stopping in if you're in the area, but not a must-go destination. Saluti.
It was good, but I do not think it lived up to the hype, especially with the wait. The Hot Boi slice could have been a little more flavorful, and the honey would have complimented it better if the base had more depth. I might come back to try a different slice, but I probably would not get the same one again. read more
With anything in NYC, be prepared for a wait at this popular pizza spot in the city. They sell ny the slice, which is nice when you don't feel like having a whole pie. Be prepared for a longer wait if you want to sit in dining service. Tried a slice of the Original and HotBoi, both great flavors. Only issue with the pizza is that they were floppier that I normally like, but great cheese and crust flavor on the original, and great mixture of sweet and savory flavor on the hotboi. Staff were friendly and efficient without making customers feel rushed out. read more
Quite of few food lists have this as a must try in New York but after eating here I have no idea why. The pizza crust was overly floppy and the flavor of the cheese on the Margherita pizza I got was relatively bland. I didn't try the Artichoke Basille's in New York, but I have eaten at the one in Berkeley and think that this pizza tastes exactly like the pizza from there. Not the worst pizza I've ever had but far from the best. read more

love the vibe of scarrs. Truly feels like a cool retro ny pizza shop. I got the hot boi slice. Personally feel like they could have left the slice in a little longer but regardless the pizza was fire. Waited about 15 min in line not bad. read more
We tried a few pizza spots while in NYC, and Scarr's was the best. The pizza was good at all the other spots, but there was always some issue - there wasn't enough sauce, the cheese didn't stand out, the crust lacked flavor, etc. But at Scarr's, everything came together nicely - good cheese flavor, good balance of sauce and cheese, and nice crust. We ordered a cheese slice and a beef pepperoni slice, and both were excellent! read more
I really enjoyed Scarr's pizza. I loved the mushroom and the spicy pepperoni. My friend had the margarita and she said she would not get it again. From what I heard it's kind of a hit or miss but I would come back for the mushroom and spicy pep. I opted to get hot honey on top and it was delicious. I've always wanted to try this place and I'm so glad I was able to! We ordered the Hotboi pizza which was a nice combination of salty sweet! I know it has jalapeños and the hot honey, but it wasn't too spicy! The dough was fluffy and the pizza still held its shape! I definitely want to go back to try more pizzas! I absolutely loved the garlic knots! I'm a sucker for garlicky bread and this one was great with the marinara sauce on the side! The staff was really nice! It was late in the afternoon and it was a pleasant experience! The inside of scarrs feels a little old school with some arcade games and diner like seating and decor! Definitely a fun little spot for some pizza! read more
I would give this a 3.999999999 almost hitting that 4 for sure. Overall: the hot honey roni is the only slice I had. Nice crust, lotta cheese and that honey! Taste: I love that they drizzle the honey right on top every slice but I wish there was a little more flavor coming through. The slice was nice and thin but with the amount of sauce and cheese on top the flop was a little too much. The honey really kicks through, wish there was some salt or heat since the jalapeños weren't that really spicy. Would i have it again? Yea! Cheap still a solid slice and the honey is *chefs kiss* Outside: was on the line for maybe 18 mins on Saturday @2pm when NYC first had its 70degree weather so it was not bad! Inside: Lotta a/c so it was nice. Has some seats but couldnt get a table since it was a weekend and getting packed. Took my family of five to scarrs and had a bad experience. We sat down for table service. Waiter with raiders jacket needed major work on his customer experience skills. His attitude was poor for the whole meal right from the start as we sat down. No smile. No how are you folks doing. I understand wait times are long for food, but when we asked to check on the food, his response was "everybody is waiting". No napkins were given and we had to get up and get some. We ordered a bunch of food and one dish was forgotten about and had to be taken off check. Meatballs were served cold. We didn't want to stay any longer and wanted to get a pie for takeout and was told they aren't allowing takeout. So we left not quite full. I don't usually write reviews. But you deserve this one Scarrs. One star read more
Solid spot for that quintessential New York slice. Scarr's serves classic pizza in big, hearty slices. I loved the usual Pepperoni Pizza and how cheesy and slightly crunchy it was. They also have a selection of local beers on tap, which is great for visitors looking to try new brews. Do note that seating here is limited in the evenings, as you do need to buy a whole pie if you want to be seated. During the day, it's more lax and you can be seated if just ordering slices. Service is pretty solid and the venue is charming. Definitely a spot to try for those looking for good pizza. read more

Crispy bottom and enjoyable crust. I got the pepperoni pizza and it was just extremely salty. I'm a huge fan of pizza but it was hard to finish. Or maybe my taste buds were off that day. My bf got the hot honey pizza with jalapenos that he really enjoyed. This was his favorite pizza! read more

Been meaning to check out Scarrs on one of our NYC trips for a while now! Preferred the classic slice over the sicilian (for texture as well as the fact that the thicker slice didnt get heated up enough in the oven). Not busy at all on a weekday (Monday) at lunch, so you'll def be able to swing by and easily grab a slice or two (or three) to eat there. The margherita is a solid pick per usual, but the hot boy is a nice sweet and spicy kick! read more

This has to be my favorite pizza ever!! We are from out of town and I chose this place as the pizza looked amazing and it took reservations which was definitely a plus!! Very friendly staff! Highly recommend!! read more

Well, probably my fault for not ordering 'well done' on the warm up but it was just a tad soggy and not that snappy crispy thin crust I was hoping for. Take nothing away (except 1 star) because when you go be sure to order well done or order your own Pie. There is a nice seating area at the Bar, high tops next to the Bar and seating in the back with table service. Scarr himself, the Owner, is there to oversee and is most friendly and hospitable. I enjoyed the experience as I'm sure you will too. Scarr is a most stop when in the area or near. I walked over from Chinatown to experience the 2nd best Pizza in the World! Great pizza spot! We found out about Scarr's Pizzeria on YouTube and decided to check it out. We made a reservation, and when we arrived, we were glad we did--there were so many people waiting outside. However, it would have been fine to walk in, as they offer to-go orders at the front. The pizza was delicious! We tried about seven different slices, and every single one was amazing. The service was fast and efficient, and the atmosphere had a cozy café-style vibe. Definitely a place we'd come back to and highly recommend! read more

Scarrs Pizza has a great vibe right when you walk in. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, which made the experience better from the start. They recommended the Hot Boi which is a pepperoni pizza with jalapenos and hot honey. I usually love hot honey on pizza, but this one was just okay for me. I have definitely had better slices with a stronger bite. I had heard amazing things about Scarrs, so I was a little let down by the pizza itself. That said, it was still better than Joe's Pizza in my opinion. The people working there were genuinely nice and made the stop pleasant, even if the slice did not fully live up to the hype. read more

In A Nutshell: -Scarr's is a nice representation of a NY pizza. -I enjoyed 4 different slices of their cheese, pepperoni, Margherita & hot boy pizzas. -I loved the taste of each of these, especially the burnt crust. -Paired w/ a couple of ice cold Bronx Pils, this was a lovely combo on a cold, autumn evening. Overall, I especially liked that this place is on Chase Sapphire Reserve's list of NYC restaurants where you can use your $300 annual dining credit. read more
Decent pizza spot. I came here on a Sunday evening and there was a small wait. The spot has two sections: a sit-down, restaurant section and a to-go, by-the-slice spot with only bar (aka, you would have to stand and eat your pizza). I got a mushroom pizza and a jalapeno/pepperoni pizza and both were pretty solid. They're both on the thinner side and the toppings were pretty solid. I just wish that they had a bit more options and variety in their by-the-slice orders. Nonetheless, it was pretty standard pizza (loved how they added a hot oil to the jalapeno/pepperoni pizza though!). read more

I went to scars to try their hot boy pizza as I've heard a lot of good things about it from my friends. This pizza, incorporates, sweetness, with spiciness by having jalapeños, along with pepperoni and hot honey. The crust was very thin and easy to eat, and the flavor just oozed out of this amazing piece of bread, cheese, sauce, and toppings. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting New York City. read more
I enjoy their regular slice, but I recently tried their sicilian slice and I have been thinking about it for days. It was more of a grandma style slice than a true sicilian in my opinion, but that is also really tasty so I'm not complaining. The mozzarella cheese used on the slice was really tasty and the sauce was great too. I also tried a mushroom slice, which was only okay; I would have much preferred a plain cheese slice over the mushroom slice. Try the sicilian! read more

Stopped in while running errands around the LES! Scarr's has been on my list since moving to NYC and there's always been a long line each time I've tried to go, but NOT today. Got the beef pepperoni slice with hot honey and a Mexican Coke to wash it down. Did not realize how spacious it was inside! Plenty of space to sit and catch your breath from wandering the city. Friendly service and tasty pizza, will be back! read more
Stopped by this popular Pizza shop near Downtown NYC and happened to be there when the line was short. I had a slice of the Vodka Pesto. It was the last one on the tray. I asked if another one was being made and they said not for a while. Once I paid a new tray was put on display. It was good but smaller and not as fresh so I was a little disappointed. They offer inside dining but not for counter service. read more
Honestly, probably the best NY style pizza I've ever had. Someone else described it to me as a perfectly balanced pizza in terms of crust, toppings, flavor and oiliness and I absolutely agree. We made a reservation so we could eat in. The actual sit down area is fairly small so not sure what standing by looks like in terms of wait. The front of the store is for to go orders, which may block you from seeing the host stand if you happen to dine in. The line wasn't super long when we went and it went fairly quick. We opted to order a large round pepperoni pizza. Their pepperonis were really tasty, and just the right amount of oily. I dream about this pizza often. The one reason I'm knocking a star down despite my amazing experience with the pizza was that they took forever to bring out our pizza. Like 30 mins after sitting long. Other parties who had come after us started getting theirs, when this is generally a quick place to eat. The server was great and checked in for us without us even asking upon realizing this, but it definitely made my dine in experience less pleasant. On top of that, they made me wait 15 mins after my reservation to actually seat me. That I'm a bit more ok with given that's dependent on people leaving, but definitely added to the less than stellar dine in. I would maybe get it to go instead next time, because that pizza? Visited because of the hype on tiktok! And Scarr's pizza did not disappoint!!!! We opted to get the hot boi slice which comes with hot honey, pepperoni and jalapenos! This quickly became my favorite bites as the crust was perfectly crispy/burnt and had the perfect amount of sweetness and spice. Service was fast and friendly, there wasn't a huge line around 8pm. The store itself is small but there is seating in the back! I truly think about this slice frequently.. read more

Got the vodka parm, Hotboi, and DJ Clark Kent. Amazing New York slices--perfect crust, balanced amount of grease, and great flavor. More of a hearty slice than the fancy spots like L'Industrie. Went on an off time and wait was 10 minutes! read more
The hot boi sicilian was HOT but i liked it a lot, I thought I would like the vodka pesto better but I didn't but the crust was good. While visiting NYC recently. There were so many pizza places around, but we wanted to try the best. I heard from others where to go but we decided to try Scarrs Pizza!! We took a Uber over and sat at the bar with hip hop playing in the background while we waited I ordered an adult beverage rum/coke. We ordered the favorite slice of many which is the hotboi slice with jalapeños / hot honey giving it a nice spicy flavor just right for me. Definitely will come back and recommend for fire pizza! read more

We walked right in on a Thursday at 4pm felt we were lucky there was no line
Anybody know where I can get those metal pots they use for the dough? Looking I to minimizing the use of plastic or aluminum pots that take up space.
