First off, great corner location and atmosphere. Place fills a void for an Oyster Bar that, embarrassingly, does not exist in Oyster Bay proper; at least now there's one over the Bayville Bridge. Oysters were fresh and properly chilled. Shrimp cocktail was also done right with nice sized shrimp. The New England Clam Chowder had a nice rich and creamy texture, but was lacking is seasoning/flavor (maybe add some Sherry, malt vinegar or bay seasoning?). Other glitch was the service. Owner (very nice guy) was trying to fill the roll of bartender/server/host), during a busy lunch crowd. It was week In between Christmas and New Year, so may have been short staffed. I went to Schultzys this evening with four friends. The food was delicious...we started with the crab cake, calamari, Mexican corn, and New England clam chowder. The halibut and lobster rolls were excellent....the fries were divine! Unfortunately, our server Jennifer was obviously feeling overwhelmed...she was abrupt and brusque throughout the meal. We waited quite a long time between appetizers and entrees so I was surprised when she brought the check to the table and said "we have another reservation " as she and another woman frantically cleared our table. When she came to collect our credit cards I pointed out to her that we had waited a long time for our meals and we did not appreciate being rushed out because " there was another reservation". Look no further if you Love Lobster Rolls. This is the place! Schultzy's in Bayville is a lovely restaurant. High top tables are in the front by the bar. Regular tables in the back and outdoor dining is available. My friend and I were on a mission to find the Best Lobster Roll on Long Island. Tasting the New England Style Lobster Roll was met with sighs of pleasure. The grilled bun in which it was served was crunchy adding to the delight of the tasty mouthful. Succulent claw meat filled the bun to overflowing. This cold version wasn't over chilled and that added to the flavor of the meal. The accompanying fries were sliced lengthwise and crispy. Even the Cole slaw which seemed homemade was delicious. A generous slice of pickle topped it all off. The server was attentive and the friendly manager who greeted us upon our arrival came over to check that we were happy with our meal. We both felt that we completed our mission. Food was great and the service was lovely EXCEPT!!! it seems that servers and bussers were actually told to make as much noise as possible with the dishes and silverware: stacking plates loudly while clearing right next to someone's ear, hurling them into the dish bins just behind the bar, rushing to throw silverware into glasses while gathering the mise en place. They need training in effective and pleasant service. The constant noise of dishes and silverware crashing all around us every few minutes really affected the enjoyment of our meal. As environment is important and these aren't diner prices, the noise means I probably would think twice about going again or would need to sit outside. read more

My wife and I had heard such good things about Schultzy's in Bayville that we decided to try it today From the friendliness of the servers to the modern chic decor it's a great addition to the north shore The onion soup was to die' for prepared like the finest French restaurants . The oysters were fresh and tasty , The surf and turf was on par with any top steak house The side of Brussel sprouts was done perfectly as were the garlic potatoes. Well there we were late afternoon going to a local place past there that we sometimes frequent or the marina by boat (in the summer, water view, sunset , , locals and crowd mainly bar and not too many eating So we left leaving back thru town ) and again said hey , we should try Schultzy's Looks new , freshened up , hmmmm just stop , seafood and raw bar , , high tables , regular bar ,Tv ,open kitchen , greeted right away , sat at bar , 5p, ice tray with huge oysters , fresh clams with an array of great seafood and color , bartender ,owners all pleasant and locals , nice afternoon ambience, ours , mew england clam chowder , so yummy , better than just your regular taste ,raw clams ( succulent , one instance of "just out of the water flavor taste and octopus grilled with a phenomenal simple sauce and taste , not tasty bread rolls crispy w butter , simple but so perfect !!! Peeking at other plates ! Well the scallops over risotto could win tops with shallots or onions but the delivery was great as well as the lobster Mac and cheese and a fish special next to me Making raves and waves !!! A great destination for a drive out from NYC! Bayville is a quiet seaside village and Schultzy's Restaurant is a wonderful place to enjoy lunch. Cory makes you feel welcome and is prompt with service. The shrimp and lobster bisque and French onion soup were delicious. Ok. Sorry to rank this low. But expensive. Especially for what you get. Service not good. It wasn't horrible but not good. Okay the food - not great. They need better oyster shuckers - had shell in almost every oyster. Lobster roll just blah (stew leonards grocery store has better). Dessert (pie) was warmed in microwave so that it could come out warm - came out dry. Drinks were good. I am not mentioning the "routine" things that happen like dirty utensil brought out, etc because those things happen and it's okay. But the food and service should carry the place. Okay, the food is good and the menu leans toward seafood. But; the prices are VERY out of line with the product. This restaurant doesn't offer waterfront dining, or anything really, that sets it apart from any other nice place. The service wasn't good.
