They're back after being closed for a decade. Brand new digs and a new owner. Actually the cooks are back from previous owner. They keep the place spotless, was a little shocked that they were doing a deep clean three hours before they close, but that probably helps them getting out of there on time. Perhaps they do another cleaning after they serve breakfast? They don't make their own beef, but Vienna makes a good beef also. My first time back I went with their chili cheese dog. The fresh cut fries were piping, hot and tasty. Perhaps they took note of some of the others who complained. I was bummed they don't have root beer and the Coke seemed to be weak on the syrup. I haven't had a Mountain Dew for decades, but that hit the spot. Surprised to see that they are actually offering breakfast and are open 6 AM and serving breakfast until 10:30 AM every day. Yes, today is August 14 time is 7:00 PM. I just left scooters I ordered a cheeseburger with like mayo like ketchup, light mustard with pickles only I ordered onion rings, vice french fries and I ordered a shrimp basket. The onion rings were burnt crisp the shrimp semi burnt crisp and I haven't even looked at the cheeseburger. Ate here on 7/11/26. Ordered Italian Beef and wife ordered Chopped Brisket. Paid on the kiosk and waited for our orders. After a few minutes the red headed young man said they were out of brisket. We substituted a second Italian Beef. Had to remind the young man that the Italian Beef costs $1.00 less and we were due a refund. When our order arrived the sandwiches were overflowing with tasty beef and the fries were plentiful and delicious. Definitely a cute little shop that sells a good selection of hot dogs, burgers, and gyros. From what I've seen, there isn't too much around North Chicago, but I wanted to visit somewhere with good hot dogs. Searched the area, and Scooters popped up. I got the #1, which is a Chicago-style hot dog, fries, and a drink. The Chicago-dog was pretty standard: pickle on top, small peppers, onions, and mustard. The bun though definitely made the hot dog top notch. It was a poppy seed bun that was so soft and tasty. The fries were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and reminded me of Five Guy Fries. As for the drink, I got a Cream Soda and it was also delicious! A great solid meal for around $6. I recommend this place for anyone in the area looking for good hot dogs. The burger my fiance got was a from frozen patty that resembled a Dairy Queen patty. Oh, and the grilled onions? SKIP THEM! They are the slimiest and oiliest slugs of an onion I've ever encountered. I was sent out to grab lunch for someone and happened upon scooters. I had to order a polish and then I got the Greek chicken pita for myself. Also got a cheddar cheese fry. The Polish looked a bit sad, it was shriveled and a bit soggy looking. I was assure that it tasted okay, but people usually eat with their eyes first and it didn't look to appealing. I purchased a gyro this afternoon and when I got home, I opened the wrapper there was a lighter inside the gyro.
