I'm so glad I tried this place. I had been craving a good breakfast burrito and luckily the menu options at this restaurant are wide enough to satisfy. I ordered one with sausage, eggs and cheese and was not disappointed! The tortilla is soft, ingredients are fresh and the salsa was AMAZING. I don't handle spicy/hot very well (usually going for mild) and the salsa that came with the burrito had a burst of flavor but just enough heat to not make my throat burn but still made my nose run a little. So so good. I also ordered a hot white mocha which was good (kind of hard to mess up coffee). Service was pretty fast considering they were crowded on a saturday morning (every table was taken). As for the ambiance, it was pretty loud inside because it was crowded but there's a small outdoor space and even tables out across the way by the fountain that you can sit at. Came here casually on a Monday holiday and it was pretty consistently busy with people getting in and out frequently. Placed my order at the front and went with the breakfast sandwich as I had read a sign in store that they were famous in OC for their English muffins. After eating my breakfast sandwich I could see why. The English muffin was SO GOOD. It was also great with hot eggs cheese and bacon. Ordered a nitro cold brew and honey lavender latte. Drinks came out suspiciously quick but no complaints there. Nitro had ice in it and looked like a regular cold brew. Asked barista if this was right and he rolled his eyes. Worst drink I've ever tried. Somehow this "nitro" was sour from underextraction and yet the coffee was stale. Really impressive that they can make a coffee this terrible. I think the barista fell asleep on the sweetener pump for the latte, also very bad. Man o man where to start.... We are visiting from another state and wanted to find a cool spot for breakfast and came across Scratch Bakery Cafe, get some breakfast and maybe a few treats for the hotel room. Pete greeted us and was so awesome, he explained some of their items and when he said they were known for their English muffinsI thought, that is something you don't hear often, so naturally we had to get the breakfast sandwiches to try the English muffins and I'm going to be seeing if he will start mailing me some back to Utah they were so good! We picked out the Apple Tart and the dolce de leche cheesecake to have there with our sandwiches and holy crap the flavors were amazing, the cheesecake texture was phenomenal! We had them load us up with some of their favorites. We have been trying all the treats since leaving there and the knock knock(ding dong) was crazy good, the strawberry croissant was light and flaky, the oatmeal almond chocolate chip cookie, snickerdoodle, and chocolate chip cookies couldn't have been any better, and for the chocolate lovers the chocolate decadence has so much rich flavor, I'm normally not a huge chocolate guy but between the different layers and flavors, it's a must have. Over all this place marks off everything someone could want with great food, drinks, and desserts! Must try if you are anywhere near Newport Beach! Oh and get the snack mixes for the ride home! I stopped by Scratch in the afternoon for a quick bite. The place was packed, so there was a bit of a wait to place my order. I went with an iced latte and the Grilled Tuna Melt. The staff was friendly and welcoming, which was a plus. The sandwich comes with a side, but if you want fries, it's an extra $2. Since it was so busy, there was some confusion about the line. Standing near the tables where people were eating felt a little awkward, especially as we tried to stay out of the way while making it clear we weren't in line anymore. The Grilled Tuna Melt was fantastic--crispy on the outside and packed with flavor from the mayo, tuna, and gooey melted cheese. The iced latte, however, was underwhelming. We just had breakfast here this morning . I must say I've never been treated so poorly in my life . We ordered and were given complete attitude from the tall girl taking orders. You get your choice of cheese - cheddar for me, and your choice of protein - sausage for me. What I liked about the breakfast sandwich before was how fluffy and hefty their signature English muffin used to be - it was homey because it felt like it was baked in house and this justified the cost of the sandwich.
