My wife and I had heard great things and we decided to try it out for date night last night. We ordered a variety of things to try - tenders & waffle, four-piece fried chicken (they said they were out of the double-fried...how does that happen? Wouldn't you just fry the original again, or do they use different chicken? I need answers!), cole slaw, baked mac n cheese, mixed vegetables, and garlic green beans. We ordered all of our food to-go. Counter service was great. Wait time for food wasn't bad. Cole slaw was good. The mixed vegetables and garlic green beans lacked flavor. They taste kinda like the frozen bags of veggies you'd get at any grocery store and microwave them at home. The baked mac n cheese was good, but, again, not much flavor. My wife really liked the waffle, even though it was a bit soggy due to traveling. (Not Scratch's fault...) The tenders and fried chicken were big and juicy, but... no flavor! We did get some of the Korean glaze and honey pecan sauces, which were amazing. Unfortunately, killer sauces don't totally make up for bland food. read more

I've only been to Scratch twice, with my most recent time being this week. The consistency of the food is unmatched. I'm a dark meat kinda girl so the leg and thigh was my choice. I will say the chicken was a little small in size--my only complaint, if you want to call it a complaint. My mouth is literally watering right now! The waffle was THICK and FLUFFY! Listen, I'm not a waffle girl or a chicken and waffle girl but I just wanted to try it because the reviews raved about them! It did not disappoint!! I've NEVER in my life craved a waffle before having Scratch. After my first experience, I craved their chicken and waffle and had to go back! The next time I go, because there will definitely be a next time, I will try their chicken dipped in one of their sauces just to explore the menu a bit more. Now, for the mac and cheese. I was at work craving some good fried chicken. Now yes, there's kfc and Popeyes, however I was looking for some local establishments that had what I was looking for. After work I was using the trusty Yelp app to help me feed my craving of deep fried chicken. Came to this place and I was surprised that it was a walk up and order and sit, but I was not disappointed. The chicken had a great flavor and it was not t too greasy or dry. It was just right. The potato salad on the other hand did lack some flavor, I added some of the buffalo sauce, and it helped a little. I do plan on revisiting Scratch again while I am here. The Korean sauce was great so was the siracha but I think for this the most appropriate one is the latter choice. I also ordered a 16 piece jumbo wing, Cajun seasoned, large French fries and a small okra. The Cajun seasoned wings were moist and cooked well but they were too greasy for my family; the breading held a lot of grease. The French fries were okay but the okra needs to be hit with a dash of salt as soon as it is done cooking. Wish I could give this place 3.5 stars.
