Came in on a Thursday for brunch with my daughter. We were seated as soon as we walked in (). There aren't many items to choose from for their Brekky menu, which I like. Makes it somewhat easier to decide what to order. We settled for the milk n cereal pancakes and shrimp and grits, portion size was perfect for the both of us to share. Service was good. Throw your hands in the air for their new location in the south shore marketplace!!! So convenient and easy! Parking is located in their parking structure. It is facing ala moana and the playground. It is also referred to as queens lane. They are right next to core power yoga. This is location is a lot larger than their other location and is also open for dinner unlike the other! I've been here for dinner and breakfast. Of course their breakfast menu is awesome because I love breakfast foods!!! Milk n cereal pancakes are hands down my all time favorite! There truly is no other pancake like it! Sooooo good!!! Stacked nice and fluffy with fresh fruit on top! Yum! Not to mention their milk syrup!!! I've also had their French toast, which is stacked so high!!! And filled with fresh apples!!! The apples are still crunchy too!! Health food? no. Yummy food? Yes. I'm a breakfast gal, so If you love comfort food- this is where it's at. A couple of staples are the milk and cereal pancakes & egg Benny. I've gone here a few times and my only quarrel would be to make sure you ask for a runny eggs benny, my yolk was fully cooked on one and runny in the other - so that was junk. I was too hungry to ask for it to be made again lol. I try to keep it moderately healthy by asking for the Sauce on the side , that way I can control how much is on it. The meal was flavorful and that's always a plus. Service was friendly but my water glass was empty for over 30m before I flagged someone down. Now let's address the wait time- if you're coming on a weekday, it's not that bad. Maybe 20-30m for a 2-4 person table. Weekend? God that's another story.. you can wait 1.5 hours for a table! Personally I don't wait that long for anything, especially not food. So make reservations. They actually take them so there's no reason to wait that long, Parking: 6 floor structure. You can find some. Don't be that a hole that circles the 2nd floor for 15m when you could've parked on the 3rd or 4th! Scratch has a open kitchen, so you may smell a little funky going home. Went to Scratch Kitchen with a friend after our latte date. We got seated immediately when we arrived and the service was wonderful, staff are understanding and nice! We ordered the Milk n Cereal pancakes and the House Burger which were both their most popular items! You should definitely try the house burger as it's stacked with 2 patties and comes with crispy potato fries. The pancakes were definitely not my favorite as they were dry and not all that special (I could make this at home!) the only thing that was holding this dish together was the syrup. I checked out the Instagram page first because I always like to see pictures before I order. My best friend and I decided to order the milk n cereal pancakes AND the sausage shrimp n grits so we could try both dishes. The pancakes are A1 however, very very dense. They soak up any and everything you put on them. They come with a milky, sweet cream but they even soak that up so you have to drench them in syrup so they won't get dry. The shrimp and grits were the best dish I have ever had. I would recommend them to everyone who comes to this place. So full of flavor and taste. No need to even add salt or pepper to the dish. He waited for my entree but after a while I was concerned his meal would get cold. So I told him to start eating and I took a few bites of it to make him feel better. The chicken was super crispy and the biscuits were very yummy. Not enough gravy though and he ran out before he finished his biscuits. He was almost finished with his meal when my fish finally came out. The food server quickly brought it, said thank you for your patience, and jetted our of there! I was a bit disappointed with how long it took but was grateful it came. However, the fish was dry and over cooked. Totally not what i was expecting from Scratch! I wondered if the cooks were having an off day? Our server came and asked if everything was ok and I couldn't hide my disappointment about my food. She asked if i wanted a new one or a different entree and I asked for a dish I ate before at their brunch. The entree came out and it tasted good but this experience was not the best I've had here. My sister and brother in law were in town getting ready to go on a family trip when they asked my other sister and me where did we want to go to celebrate our belated April birthdays? We ordered a round of drinks and four appetizers- Pastrami empanada, Boudin Balls, Fried Green Tomatoes, & Mexican corn. They all were quite good, but none really spoke to me. We ended up ordering 3 dinner entrees to share family style- Pastrami Egg Benedicts, Shrimp & Grits with sausage, and their famous Milk and Cereal pancakes. The Pastrami Egg Benedict was quite tasty and satisfying, mixing the crisp potatoes with saltiness of the pastrami and creaminess of the hollandaise sauce. The Milk and Cereal pancakes are quite inventive topped with fruit, cereal, and a milk syrup. The Shrimp and Grits were the biggest surprise. Instead of a lot of butter in the grits, SK made it quite a savory dish with sausage and brown gravy over it. I think that was my favorite of the night! Throughout the main course, everyone got a second round of cocktails to drink. Total for 4 apps, 3 main dishes, and 10 drinks with tax and tip came to a little more than $200- average. I've been hearing about Scratch for a long time, but never made the time. I finally went today with my girlfriend, and it was amazing! Our server was not only friendly, try legitimately had fun and enjoyed serving everyone, and that's just the beginning! The food was phenomenal! We each split both the pork adobo loco moco, which had absolutely delicious garlic rice, and tender pieces of pork.... And the pork belly eggs benny, and oh. My. Goodness. The pork belly.... The eggs.... Even the side of greens.... all the flavors worked together like a symphony of taste! Can't say I've had anything like it. I definitely want to try more of their menu, but their portions were sized well enough that we had to hold back a little. Next time though.... Next time.... read more
