Yum! I'm a fan of the ciders. Anyone who knows me, knows that I get a little obsessive about pumpkin beers in the fall. Last year I was slowing down and this year, pumpkin beers are definitely out and ciders are so IN! I was trying some bottles here and there on my own, but they always ended up being so sweet and gross. Despite my failure to locate a good cider, I kept hearing so many people say that in fact good ciders really do exist! Enter Scrumpy's. We did a flight. I honestly had no idea what I was in for. I didn't even know that many ciders existed, let alone existed all in one place and on tap. I'm sure we're all familiar with seeing ciders as just an afterthought, maybe 1 on tap and a few bottled options. The bartender was so friendly, he asked us what we liked, he described all the ciders in front of us. There were definitely some that were over the top. I now know that I am not a fan of chocolate tootsie roll flavored or fruit flavored ciders, but it's good to check those off and get them out of the way forever. Then we had some sips that changed the way I look at ciders. I'm just a newbie, but they were crisp, refreshing, and not even close to being overly sweet. He let us work our way up and gave us some tastes of more traditional ("big kid") ciders. Now that I know ciders can be more than just an alcoholic version of Martinelli's sparkling juice, I find myself craving a cider. Thanks Scrumpy's for showing me the way. I got a cider sampler first thing, since that's their gig. The sweeter ones were especially delicious and refreshing, though I'm normally a beer guy (being in Fort Collins and all), and have nothing educated to say about them. The sandwich I had, the Peter Rabbit, was money. Guac and cream cheese is a surprisingly great combo. They rock the British theme strongly, with lots of ciders on tap (many are craft), but they also have a bunch of great microbrews on tap, including the new Black Bottle. They're apparently going to be brewing their own ciders pretty soon. We had a great server. I had a hankering for a plate of Brie after eating my sandwich, and he happily set me up even though their actual cheese sampler wasn't store-ready yet. The sandwiches are definitely unique - lots of cream cheese and jelly. Come to think of it, a couple of them are slightly reminiscent of Backcountry Provisions sandwiches, but that's quite the compliment because that place is the tits. The ambiance is awesome, with old, dusty looking chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, yet not over-the-top. With Crank right next door, the north side of old town is getting some great life breathed into it. read more

A cider bar in a beer town? Sounds fun to me! My friends have been waiting for this place to open for months, and at long last we were able to go check out this neat little place. First of all, we were greeted by the owner right when we walked in. She shook all of our hands and gave us a rundown of all their ciders, specials, and upcoming news (they'll be serving their homemade cider in the next couple months). I tried a sample of their blueberry agave drink, which was a pretty awesome concoction. It even had blueberries floating in it. My friends and I ordered 2 taster trays, so we got the whole shebang. I ended up ordering the blue agave and a wild turkey sandwich (turkey, bacon, guacamole, cream cheese, sprouts, tomatoes, and salsa - YUM). Their menu isn't complete yet, but they should be up and running at 100% soon. They do accept credit cards, but it's much easier if you pay with cash. The layout of the place was pretty cool too. The exposed brick was nice, and the booths were perfect for seating 4. The restroom can be a little hard to find (they'll be putting up signs soon), but basically all you need to do is follow the hallway all the way to the back and through the door. It feels like you're about to step outside, but really you're just stepping into the hallway they share with CrankNStein. I've got high hopes for this place, looking forward to seeing how it turns out! read more

They aren't open on Mondays. Just as a warning. I made the mistake of not checking the first time. They have pretty great Cider! The chocolate raspberry is a treat. Love the numerous cider options! They have some of their own and many taps from other cideries. You can get a sampler or pints or both! I recall enjoying a tasty blueberry cider and some friends had a jalapeno version of the same. I definitely recommend getting a sample prior to a pint, just in case. The service is great, the ciders are hit or miss depending on your taste and the food is OK. The queso and nachos were weird and I am not sure I would order them again. But, they weren't bad, just not great. The layout is interesting, a variety of odd seating and the bathroom is an adventure. But, I like that! This is a cute little bar/restaurant with fantastic ciders ranging from spicy to sour to sweet. They also have beers and mead on tap and delicious sandwiches. Easy to order and very open space. Staff was very friendly. Also an earth friendly establishment which prevents food waste. read more

I was visiting my sister who recently moved to Fort Collins and decided to go to Scrumpy's before leaving on the last day. I'm so glad we did because this place was great! I absolutely love hard cider and I'm glad Fort Collins finally has a cider bar (in the midst of all the breweries). I've already been here twice this week, had a flight, and then a pint of the wyder's pear cider. They said they're brewing their own peach cider, which will be ready around thanksgiving. What I want to know is, can I get a growler of cider from here instead of beer? I also do wish they had Kopparberg - I liked that cider when I went to England. Scrumpy's is named after the scrumptious cider it's known for but you can also enjoy this neighborhood bar while downing your favorite local brews and spirits. The friendly owners have gone to great lengths to make this a fun place yet unique place to visit. One entire side of tables is made up of old church pews while snugs on the other side are surmounted by stained glass. Plenty of board games are on tap to keep both kids and adults entertained. Scrumpy's proudly brews, serves and locally distributes its own cider, along with some of the best names from around the world. I've been into Scrumpy's a couple times, although I often forget to check in. It's a very cute little building, the staff is always happy, and the Cider selection is always great. I've never had the snacks on offer, but it always looks tasty when it goes by. I most appreciate that they offer other ciders in addition to the varieties made in-house. Being able to try ciders from Europe and other fun locales helps keep visits interesting. I however find myself returning time and time again for their Raspberry Habanero cider. It is tart, spicy, fizzy, sweet, and absolutely wonderful. read more

Wow, the new Scrumpy's. Don't be fooled by their past - they have lots of beer now. And food. And still have ciders. Really great interior now, lots of different places to sit. I'm going to try to bring groups of friends here for gathering or maybe board games. My only complaint is that the sandwich I got was $11 and pretty small really. Ingredients were adequate, but $11 seemed excessive. Maybe the food costs are high on purpose to take advantage of us while we are drinking. I came in with some coworkers for lunch. Their sandwich offerings are interesting and unique. Everyone was able to find something regardless of diets and restrictions. Paired with that, are good beers that could also be enjoyed. Despite it being pretty empty, the wait was a bit longer than anticipated (but well worth it). It's a bit pricey but worth a visit every so often. Also, they can seat 10 people for lunch no problem without any planning. read more

We were on a long, long road trip and ended up passing through Fort Collins. Looking for a good sandwich, we ended up finding an EXCELLENT sandwich at Scrumpy's. My mister is definitely a beer guy, so he wasn't a fan of the cider. The sandwiches, candied bacon and the salsa bacon ranch on the other hand were top notch tasty! The service was a bit odd. We came into the place and they told us where to sit, but told us to come to the bar to order. The food was delivered to our table though. We didn't have a "waiter/waitress" per se, but someone did come around every now and again to ask if we needed anything. The candied bacon is a must try for any bacon lover. It comes with peppered jelly for dipping. I actually used a couple of pieces on my divine sandwich. The food, overall, made this a great experience! We will definitely go back when we are traveling through, again. read more

Good food and good cider. The sandwiches we had were very filling and all on HOMEMADE bread. Yum! They have two flights... one with their ciders (Flight A) and the one with 'other' ciders (Flight B). I wouldn't waste your time with the Flight B as you are at a cidery and should give respect to the quality cider they produce (not to mention the 'guest' ciders are commercial and not that great). If you are in Fort Collins, stop by, grab a flight, and enjoy 8 ciders that (if you are not from the Colorado area), you may not have known about. I wasn't sure what to expect from a cider place, but this was definitely a fun experience. You're able to get tasting flights to sample a variety of ciders, some made on site and others brought in from around the country. We didn't get a chance to sample the food, the menu looked like smaller portions, sandwiches and such. We came in at 6 PM on a Wednesday and they were offering buy one get one free of pints from their 'A Flight' menu.
