These guys made an $8 toast almost seem worth the price which in and of itself is amazing in my opinion! I stopped in with my girlfriend for a quick morning bite and was surprised by how many options they actually had. Lots to choose from if you're an omnivore and a couple classics for vegans. They also have a small pastry case and a few other drinks like sparkling water and juice. We ordered the avocado toast and the PBJ with the strawberry chili jelly (be sure to say vegan, they said they put some butter on each selection). We also added the ghost pepper tomato chutney for the avocado toast. Everything was fantastic, loaded with toppings, fresh and delicious! The toast was thick cut and had good flavor. The space itself is very small but bright, clean and cozy. Service was helpful and friendly. This is just around the corner from our new apartment, so I look forward to coming in again for some coffee and bites! I wish it were a smidge more affordable, but the quality was there and I can understand their rent is likely high. read more

My husband and I stumbled upon Scullery while walking around during our visit to San Francisco. The space is small and hard to miss but watch out for it and give it a try! They specialize in coffee but have a bunch of tasty toast options to go along with your coffee. I had their latte and my husband had their macchiato. We both loved our warm delicious beverages on this cold San Fran day. I ate their cream cheese toast and my husband had their peanut butter and jelly toast. The toast was made to perfection, we ate them so quick! Also, the employees were super sweet and talkative. We enjoyed our time and conversation with them. Stopped by for coffee while waiting for breakfast sandwiches from bandit. The barista was so wonderful! I ordered an oat milk dulce de leche latte (for my sister who is lactose intolerant) and he double checked with me about lactose intolerance since the latte syrup has milk in it. He even offered to wait for me to check with her before starting on the latte. Both the latte and my cappuccino were amazing (check the adorable latte art!). They're also dog friendly -- met an adorable pup waiting eagerly for a treat from the barista while his owner got coffee. read more

Omg, such a great little coffee shop! I had the burnt Carmel latte and it did not disappoint. Not too sweet and plenty savoy. I was passing by after getting pasteries at a different shop and saw Scullery and looked on yelp at the reviews. About the right amount of choices for coffee and food - not too much going on so the queue doesn't stack up with long wait times on drink orders. I'm sure it backs up later in the morning and/or on weekends. Foods good. Not cheap but not overblown prices either. I've walked by this place a handful of times whenever I visit my parents. I love supporting local coffee shops so I swung by to get a cup of coffee. I ordered the Tenderloin as I couldn't resist as I grew up in the Tenderloin. It was a cold brew with condensed milk. It wasn't overly sweet and was pretty good. The place is small and has a couple counter space to eat. They offer food but I didn't get any. Street parking. No bathroom. Would recommend walking here, using public transit, or carshare. read more

i always drive pass this restaurant but never knew what it was. i went the other day. i ordered an avocado toast and a vietnamese iced coffee. the presentation is amazing but goddamn, it was salty. it was a nice toast with butter on top, i think they put too salt. the coffee was like a knockoff version of vietnamese coffee. it wasn't as strong or creamy as i thought it would be. i hope to give this place another try some time soon, ordering it without salt and a different coffee. it is a cute little cafe. read more

The avocado toast left a little to be desired: it's just avocado on a very seedy bread which I wasn't a fan of. Garlic oil was overpowering. The owner is nice and very knowledgeable about coffee and the machines he uses. The bald man, on the other hand, was not very nice and pretty rude. The best avocado toast i've ever eaten!! Everything about it was perfect, down to the actual bread used. I ordered mine with an egg on top and it was absolutely delicious.. On another note, ordered the matcha along with my toast and it was simply ok. Probably will try out another drink next time. Definitely a huge fan of the drink art. As far as the inside, not a whole bunch of seating inside and it's all bench styled seating against the wall. Wouldn't be a good place to go with a larger group. As I walked into the cafe, I was welcomed by the savory and delicious aroma of the Yorkie (a pastry with bacon, egg and cheddar) - I just had to order one, and it did not disappoint. I also got a Vietnamese style latte, a honey lavender latte, and an avocado toast. The Vietnamese style latte was a little disappointing, but I already knew it wasn't going to be like a legit viet coffee. The honey lavender latte was perfect, lightly sweet and the lavender taste was not overwhelming. The avocado toast had some garlic oil sprinkled on top, which added a great twist. If you stop in for an avocado toast, make sure you 1) grab napkins and 2) have a place to sit and eat! The seating outside is very limited, but was open on a Wednesday morning. Visited this morning - Avocado Toast and Welsh Rarebit and a couple coffees. Loved the cold brew chicory (low-acid good for my tummy!) but the toasts were great-tasting, lovingly prepared and a good value. Two guys behind the counter were friendly and hooked us up with some Tomato Chutney to go with our toast. Soooo good amazing complement to the cheese on the rarebit. Toast! Welsh rarebit, no less! What a treat. I loved the smoked fish and cream cheese as it almost reminded me of Iceland. The chutneys all look fab, though a bit of Branstons would also be welcome. We ended up at Scullery on the recommendation of a random San Franciscan who took pity on us waiting a tad too long at a nearby brunch place to order. Apparently Scullery had the best toast of SF! We took her word for it and walked up the street to Scullery's little hole in the wall. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. As soon as you walk in, you can appreciate the cute little shop (and its awesome logo!), you get wafts of the freshly delivered bread and you look to a chalk board to see what to order. Two friends and I each ended up getting different toasts. I got the smoked trout, another got the avocado toast and the other got a shakshuka-like toast with lots of waterey tomato topped with an egg. We were all kind of underwhelmed to be honest. The trout was pretty dry and overly salty, the tomatoes really runny and making it uncomfortable to eat, only the avocado toast seemed decent. Maybe the basic toast was the way to go? In any case, as soon as we were done, we kind of regretted not having our lunch at Bandit next door, those burgers looked amazing. read more

My first experienced I enjoyed the peanut/jelly toast and designed chai latte... one incident, a man trying to pass. I did not know the table was a pathway. I didn't know my cup was on the way on stop of a table. I have trouble sleeping, most I get was 4hrs and I worked graveyard so I am not alert. Cashier bald with every glass grabbed my cup and gave to me and he flipped the table upward to have it open space for the biker to get in. I haven't seen those type of table before. I was startled. Second time I went to store, I got off work and off the bus, I stopped by to try their salmon at 06:20AM. Same man bald inside the store said to me that the store is not open until 07:00AM. Oct.02nd, 06:24AM, same man bald with eye glasses is serving the man. I felt discriminated over small matter that I did not know about table is also converted a doorway. That's very immature. I deserve equal respect as a customer who just want food! I only give stars for food. The services threat meant I have gotten is disgusting to have soar eyes. I am not homeless to be treated this way! No person should be treated the way he did to me! My Filipino & Asian & islanders do not visit this place! My boyfriend and I were staying in SF for about 3 days and our hotel was within walking distance from Scullery. All 3 days we were there, we got coffee everyday from them! My boyfriend would get the vanilla latte with oat milk and I would get the burnt caramel latte with oat milk. Both were really delicious and really hit the spot. I am seriously disturbed by the cleanliness of this place. The bald guy with the round glasses prepared the food in unsanitary conditions. I first noticed he used a dirty rag to wipe the counters and appliances and then proceeded to use that same rag to clean the knife he used to prepare our food and put it back in the clean pile. I then saw him use his gloves to clean the trashcans. When a customer came in, he used those same gloves to prepare the customers food. He even kept the gloves on when he dipped his hand inside a bucket full of food without changing the gloves he used to clean the trash. I for one do not plan to go back after seeing how they handled the food. read more
