I've recently ordered to-go food from here a couple of times. The food was packaged up nicely and stayed warm. We tried the ravioli appetizer which was nice and toasty. We also had a few different pasta dishes and chicken. The portions are very large and enough to have leftovers or share with someone else. The owner is very nice and provides excellent hospitality. We were 2 friends catching up over lunch and it was the first visit for each of us to Scuzzi's. It's a nice restaurant inside and our server, Rudy, was good; professional and attentive. We ordered the Scuzzi sampler to share and each of us had the Rainbow Trout as a main. The starter was nicely presented and tasted fine. The fish was presented upon a plate of spaghetti and both components were properly cooked. In my opinion, though, our meal lacked flavor and would have benefited from seasoning or the addition of a small amount of compatible sauce or other embellishment. As far as pricing is concerned, I really had a problem paying $18 for a 9 oz glass of Prosecco. These days you can find plenty of good bottles of Prosecco at that price. read more

We made a reservation for 2 at 7:00. We arrived 30 minutes before 7 and checked-in. We were told our table would be ready close to 7. We said "ok, that makes sense." Well, we had to re-check in at 7, told that our table would be ready in 15 minutes. A party of 3 checked-in shortly after we did (for a second time), they were seated 10 minutes after they checked in. Which was before we were seated. Now it's around 7:30, we had to check-in again and remind the hostess of the name and time (for the 3rd time now). We were finally seated 15 minutes after checking in for the 3rd time. Why have a reservation system, if you don't know who has checked in and who hasn't checked in. This was a horrible experience for our first time dining at this restaurant. The veal was cooked perfectly (most places in SA usually overcook the veal), the chicken parmigiana was tender and came with a very flavorful red sauce. We went for Happy Hour drinks and food with friends. The server did not speak good English and could not communicate with us. There was mass confusion with our order and he did not know the menu. Oysters on the half shell was a menu item and when we ordered it he did not know what it was and asked if we wanted it with spinach. Some of our food was delivered and some was not and he had to go back and order it and it was delivered at the wrong times. Two of us ordered drinks which never came. Some one should have been with this server to assist with service if he was in training. The food is over priced and was only fair at best. This restaurant gets very noisy. We bought a Groupon to try out the restaurant Friday night, we arrived about 5:30pm. The place was not busy and we were greeted and seated immediately. We ordered the fried calamari and shrimp Scuzzi from the happy hour menu and both were delicious! The shrimp was absolutely amazing! The calamari was good too. We ordered the chicken cannelloni and sausage cacciatore and both were exceptionally prepared. The sauces from all the dishes were full of flavor and everything was piping hot! When it was time to pay, we were told e couldn't use the Groupon because we ordered from the happy hour menu. Good to know for next time. The server did his job minimally, took our orders, refilled the water, etc. he also spoke minimally, answered questions in short sentences, no smiles, not welcoming. Food rating: 5 stars. Just had a wonderful dinner at this beautiful restaurant. Right from the beginning I knew I'd love it because of the gorgeous front doors. The wait staff was amazing, JR was especially great. He had great recommendations that accommodated our likings. We were really impressed with the taste and quality of the food. My husband and I tried some place new for date night last night and after ordering the chicken lasagna I had to send it back. It was overwhelmingly salty. Like someone dropped the salt shaker in it type salty. I couldnt get passed the first bite. I order the chicken Parmesan and it seemed fine so I boxed it up and took it home. This morning I noticed there is a shrimp tail in my food! Shrimp tail in my chicken Parmesan. This is disgusting and I'll never go back here. The food was subpar at best anyways. The spaghetti that came with it tasted like it came out of a chef boyardee can. I will NEVER recommend this place. read more

Just had the best meal. Wish I had taken photos, will next time because there will be a next time. Let's start with our waiter Manuel. He took such good care of us. We started with the shrimp scuzzi. Amazing!!! Then Cesar salad. Followed by chicken saltinbocca. Of course we had to have desert. Cream brûlée. I have never seen a presentation like that. They lite it on fire with some sort of liquor. Went for the Happy Hour, and it's one of the best in town for the quality of food and service you receive. There was no one there when we arrived, but it filled up by the time we left, full and happy. We shared bruschetta and spinach artichoke dip, then ordered some minestrone and mussels. Everything was absolutely delicious and refreshingly light. Ended with cannoli, and though we couldn't finish the order, it was the perfect end to a wonderful meal. And again, because it was happy hour, my wallet was happy too. Rudy was our server, and he was attentive without being overbearing and gave suggestions but didn't push anything. I didn't realize it had been 4 years since I left a review for my favorite non-chain Italian restaurant in San Antonio! I'm a creature of habit, so I usually order the "Chicken Napolitano" or the "Chicken Fettuccine." Both absolutely delicious! I've also ordered the "Wrapped Prosciutto" from the appetizers menu and the "Charcuterie & Cheeseboard which was way larger than I expected. Last night I went there, nobody cared about me, they sat me near the window, suddenly a beautiful, elegant, nice lady came and introduce herself saying she was under training, her smile made me forget how long I was waiting. She brought the wine menu, the bread and water, she had a beautiful smile, she is so pretty, she took my order, and got my food just like I wanted, plus her beautiful smile, she said her name was Lis , I was going to tip her and she said, no sir please I can't, I am learning, I thought that the other server she was working with will take her money, he only went twice, but she went 10 times, I had a great time because of her. When here with the family to try something new. I wish we would've just stuck with our favorite Italian place, Milano's on Stone Oak pkwy. The staff here are very attentive to all tables and friendly which is the biggest reason I gave this place the number of stars I did. Otherwise the food is... meh. I think it's definitely overpriced, especially for the serving size. The bruschetta is four small slices of crostini and it's $12! I got the chicken parmigiana and the cutlet was very thin. I understand that chicken parmesan is typically made with a thinner breast but this dish had a cutlet thinner than my pinkie (and I'm not a big person). My husband got the chicken Marsala and he said it tasted like his chicken was freezer burned. The mini cannolis are not worth the price and the tiramisu had maple syrup on it . Go to Milano's instead if you're looking for authentic Italian. read more

Absolute wow to this restaurant. Our hotel lost power so we had zero options for dinner on a Saturday night. Luckily we were able to book a table at Scoozi's restaurant. It was fun. This restaurant instantly makes you feel like a local. The staff was very sweet and accommodating. The place was packed and of course it was because of the delicious food and environment. If we lived in San Antonio we'd definitely be regulars. I didn't get to investigate but I'm sure this venue also has event space. When we arrived it looked like a baby shower was tearing down. Then by the time we left it looked like they were possibly setting up for a drag show? Really sad whatever it was we had to leave and miss it. Will definitely visit again. read more

We were charged $22 for a $21 entre, $25 for $23 entre and $48 for a $42 bottle of wine (which costs $12.99 at HEB). WARNING***Waiter committed credit card fraud after my visit to this establishment*** This was my first and probably last experience at this restaurant. My girlfriends and I made reservations for 22 October to celebrate one of their birthdays. Upon arrival it seemed as though our waiter was irritated with us, nonetheless I brushed it off and thought maybe I was just reading into it too much. After the waiter brought out our appetizer order he asked if we wanted anything to drink. We asked him for a cocktail menu again he just had a look of annoyance on his face with anything we responded with. After taking our drink order one of the other individuals in our party pointed out his impatience and irritation towards us and all of us stated we had. Upon bringing our meal he asked if we wanted cheese and pepper which we all stated yes. He proceeded to reach across the table with arms over our drinks to grind the cheese and pepper. Too lazy it seemed to walk around the table to each of our plates. Long story short Ricardo just did not seem to want to wait on our table and rushed us throughout our meal. As for the food itself, the appetizers we order were extremely salty (Wrapped Prosciutto and Fried Calamari). Everyone of our dishes was a very small serving and just drowned in sauce with very little taste (Capellini Basil Pesto with chicken, chicken parm, spaghetti, and chicken Florentine). Needless to say, with the extremely poor service and food that was not really worth the price we were not satisfied with our visit. However, this was not the worst part of the experience. A few days later I noticed that the charge to my credit card was more than my bill. Ricardo changed his tip and charged my credit card with the amount he seemed fit. Once I found out I called the restaurant and asked to speak with the manager, and the person who answered the phone (Mori) stated he was the manager. I explained to him the situation, and he was extremely difficult to deal with almost making it seem as though I was the problem. During our phone conversation, he told me he would refund me the tip that our waiter gave himself and that was it. He then asked me for my credit card info and when I told him I did not feel comfortable giving him my card given the fact that some of his employees committed credit card fraud. At that point I asked if I could speak with his boss and he stated I could leave my contact number for his boss (Mazi) to call me but that he wasn't going to do anything outside of refunding me the tip Ricardo charged on my card. Again I told him I wasn't going to give him my CC number and he stated "I can't help you" and hung up on me. Caution you on your visit, whether this is a first and only time the wait staff as done this the fact that management took it so lightly is rather concerning. read more

Had my daughters High School graduation party here last night. Awesome time! The staff was phenomenal, the service was great and most importantly, my daughter got her Alfredo! First off, the ambiance of the restaurant is great, and our seats looking out south across the city at sunset was wonderful. Both of our dinners were fantastic. The sausage cacciatore was a full portion, cooked to perfection, and tasted excellent. My wife got the cannelloni, and as much as I enjoyed my dish, her's was next level. The sauce was truly something special. Beyond the food, our waiter Daivd was attentive, polite, helpful and not at all overbearing. The place was bustling on a Friday night, and everyone seemed to be having a great time. We had the intentions of trying Scuzzi's for the past year, and we finally (and thankfully) made it in and discovered a nearby gem. Five stars, would partake again. read more
