I previously tried the Shrimp Scuzzi at a local food festival about 8 months ago. The shrimp was very flavorful and left a great impression. I ordered the Shrimp Scuzzi's a few nights ago for delivery. I figured ok one of the most expensive items on the menu ($26), no biggie. The shrimp was great the time I had it before let me get the dinner entree. When I got my food, I was deeply disappointed at the potion size. With only 5 shrimp and a small bed of pasta for $26 which was probably only a $4 food cost. The shrimp had good flavor and was the reason I selected this entree, but I feel a dish with the the name Scuzzi's associated with it could have at least 3 more shrimp in it. read more

Fantastic! I planned a party for 20 people, Mazi was wonderful in helping me with the planning! He was very flexible and understanding. The evening of the party we got there a bit early to set up and thee entire staff was kind and helpful in the process! Our food was phenomenal and our waiter, Rudy was so attentive! Great spot for a date night! The pasta is delicious and the portion sizes are massive. I've never been a huge fan of chicken parmesan, but since trying more vegetarian food, I gave the eggplant parmesan a try. I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. Super cheesy if you're into mozzarella and there was enough pasta leftover for dinner the next night! The husband got lasagna and a salad which he also thought was great. I've also had the shrimp parmesan in the past and it was awesome. The Italian margarita is the best I've ever had! I wish I knew the recipe so I could make it at home. My only complaint is the glass was only 3/4 of the way full so that sucked...prices weren't bad for a Saturday night and we had a coupon which made it even better! read more

I came here for a work lunch and it was absolutely delicious. I ordered the Scallops app, Tortellini, Caesar salad, tiramisu and a cappuccino. The waitstaff was very attentive, and it was very busy! We had our main waiter, another to clear plates/clean up crumbs, another that topped off our drinks, and another ensuring we were happy with our meal. We were a large group and ordered a lot of food and the timing on bringing our food (apps all together, entrees all together, desserts all together) was great! No one had to wait to eat their meal for others, everyone's food was hot as needed. We are a very patient group (knowing we are a large group) and we were very impressed with the staff. 20/10!! read more

I really wish I would have taken pictures of the food, my apologies! We had a fairly large group (22 total) and we called with only one day's notice. Scuzzi's was very happy to accommodate our group for lunch on a Saturday. Food was great and service was amazing! We brought in a cake for dessert and they let us know the day before that there was a $1/ person "cake fee", which included them slicing and serving the cake. I was appreciative that they made sure I was aware of the fee the day before and the day of that this charge would apply. Would definitely recommend the wedge salad, their pizzas, and their chicken Alfredo. Yummmmm!! With special events, service can make or break your experience. Scuzzi's went above and beyond and should absolutely be considered for an excellent and delicious dining experience. read more

Made reservations for 7, didn't get seated until 7:30 and that was after they kept seating other people. Restaurant totally overbooked themselves with large parties. We ended up eating in the bar area. HORRIBLE service and definitely not worth the wait. Food was mushy and mediocre at best. Olive Garden would've been a step Up from this place. UPDATE 3/27/18: it was very clear that the management did not take below excellent reviews very lightly and wanted to do everything possible to ensure an outstanding guest experience. We decided to give them another try and I am so glad we did. This time I was sure to order different dishes just to try them out. Once again the service was completely outstanding. I did not have a minute of unfilled water and the servers were very diligent and attentive. This time we ordered the scuzzi sampler appetizer which came with scuzzi shrimp, baked scallop, and calamari. TIP: when ordering this let them know that you'd like eg: 2 scallops instead of one to share. We got one but later found out we could have asked for one each. This appetizer was absolutely exquisite! The scuzzi shrimp, considering that I haven't been loving shrimp as of lately, was completely mouthwatering leaving you wanting more. The scallops were a great size as well and tasted great. This time around somehow the calamari also turned out to be better. For the main dish I ordered the three cheese manicotti and oh my! It was amazing! Definitely 10 times better than the ravioli I had the time before. All in all this was a million times better than our first visit and our palettes definitely thanked us for going back. I now have a favorite appetizer dish in town! TIP: for vegetarians, the manicotti is definitely a recommended dish to try! Not an impressive outing by any means. We ordered the fried calamari, the chicken Parmesan and the three cheese ravioli. The calamari was just ok - deep fried not in a high class restaurant style. Had it not been for the accompanying marinara, I would have thought it was frozen and fried at home. The ravioli itself tasted like a good bag of frozen ravioli you would buy from a store (a good one though). The creamy sauce did help uplift the texture and flavor but without the sauce i would not rate the ravioli more than 2*'s. The chicken Parmesan on the other hand was something hubby actually did get disgusted of. Based on his entree choice, he said he never wants to go back... The service to the contrary of the very unimpressive food choices was actually excellent. All the servers were incredibly attentive and did not let our water run out before refilling it. I've recently ordered to-go food from here a couple of times. The food was packaged up nicely and stayed warm. We tried the ravioli appetizer which was nice and toasty. We also had a few different pasta dishes and chicken. The portions are very large and enough to have leftovers or share with someone else. The owner is very nice and provides excellent hospitality. I'm looking forward to enjoying food on the patio in the near future. read more

We made a reservation for 2 at 7:00. We arrived 30 minutes before 7 and checked-in. We were told our table would be ready close to 7. We said "ok, that makes sense." Well, we had to re-check in at 7, told that our table would be ready in 15 minutes. A party of 3 checked-in shortly after we did (for a second time), they were seated 10 minutes after they checked in. Which was before we were seated. Now it's around 7:30, we had to check-in again and remind the hostess of the name and time (for the 3rd time now). We were finally seated 15 minutes after checking in for the 3rd time. Why have a reservation system, if you don't know who has checked in and who hasn't checked in. This was a horrible experience for our first time dining at this restaurant. Other than that, the food and our waiter was great. We loved our meals and the bread was to die for! 1 star for the "reservation system" 4 stars for the meal. read more

The wine list is extensive, moderately priced, with best deals on Tuesdays. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable, with outstanding customer service. The veal was cooked perfectly (most places in SA usually overcook the veal), the chicken parmigiana was tender and came with a very flavorful red sauce. We were 2 friends catching up over lunch and it was the first visit for each of us to Scuzzi's. It's a nice restaurant inside and our server, Rudy, was good; professional and attentive. We ordered the Scuzzi sampler to share and each of us had the Rainbow Trout as a main. The starter was nicely presented and tasted fine. The fish was presented upon a plate of spaghetti and both components were properly cooked. In my opinion, though, our meal lacked flavor and would have benefited from seasoning or the addition of a small amount of compatible sauce or other embellishment. As far as pricing is concerned, I really had a problem paying $18 for a 9 oz glass of Prosecco. These days you can find plenty of good bottles of Prosecco at that price. read more

Met friends at Scuzzi's on a weekday and service and entire staff were super friendly and attentive. We had drinks, appetizers and full entrees which were all spot on. The chef special was the sea bass with crab and shrimp which was a big hit. Overall we had a great time and Scuzzi's will see us again soon I'm sure. read more

We bought a Groupon to try out the restaurant Friday night, we arrived about 5:30pm. The place was not busy and we were greeted and seated immediately. We ordered the fried calamari and shrimp Scuzzi from the happy hour menu and both were delicious! The shrimp was absolutely amazing! The calamari was good too. We ordered the chicken cannelloni and sausage cacciatore and both were exceptionally prepared. The sauces from all the dishes were full of flavor and everything was piping hot! When it was time to pay, we were told e couldn't use the Groupon because we ordered from the happy hour menu. Good to know for next time. The server did his job minimally, took our orders, refilled the water, etc. he also spoke minimally, answered questions in short sentences, no smiles, not welcoming. Food rating: 5 stars. My husband and I tried some place new for date night last night and after ordering the chicken lasagna I had to send it back. It was overwhelmingly salty. Like someone dropped the salt shaker in it type salty. I couldnt get passed the first bite. I order the chicken Parmesan and it seemed fine so I boxed it up and took it home. This morning I noticed there is a shrimp tail in my food! Shrimp tail in my chicken Parmesan. This is disgusting and I'll never go back here. The food was subpar at best anyways. The spaghetti that came with it tasted like it came out of a chef boyardee can. I will NEVER recommend this place. read more

Just had the best meal. Wish I had taken photos, will next time because there will be a next time. Let's start with our waiter Manuel. He took such good care of us. We started with the shrimp scuzzi. Amazing!!! Then Cesar salad. Followed by chicken saltinbocca. Of course we had to have desert. Cream brûlée. I have never seen a presentation like that. They lite it on fire with some sort of liquor. I didn't realize it had been 4 years since I left a review for my favorite non-chain Italian restaurant in San Antonio! I'm a creature of habit, so I usually order the "Chicken Napolitano" or the "Chicken Fettuccine." Both absolutely delicious! I've also ordered the "Wrapped Prosciutto" from the appetizers menu and the "Charcuterie & Cheeseboard which was way larger than I expected. We went for Happy Hour drinks and food with friends. The server did not speak good English and could not communicate with us. There was mass confusion with our order and he did not know the menu. Oysters on the half shell was a menu item and when we ordered it he did not know what it was and asked if we wanted it with spinach. Some of our food was delivered and some was not and he had to go back and order it and it was delivered at the wrong times. Two of us ordered drinks which never came. Some one should have been with this server to assist with service if he was in training. The food is over priced and was only fair at best. This restaurant gets very noisy. The whole evening was a struggle and expensive. There are better options for Italian food in San Antonio, TX. read more

Just had a wonderful dinner at this beautiful restaurant. Right from the beginning I knew I'd love it because of the gorgeous front doors. The wait staff was amazing, JR was especially great. He had great recommendations that accommodated our likings. We were really impressed with the taste and quality of the food.
