Stopped into Scuzzi's today for lunch with a guest. My guest had the Stracciatella soup and sucked it down. I had alfredo pasta with grilled scallops and my guest the Rainbow Trout. We both loved the flavors and the attentive service. I would have preferred to have the scallops be fresh, but we are land locked in the heart of Texas. My guest took advantage of the $5 martinis on Thursdays and I had a most excellent old fashion. I rarely have a bad meal here and I caught myself asking why don't I come here more often? read more

Always a great meal and great service with Mazi at the helm. Our last visit was Christmas Even and the place was packed. Fresh baked bread with oil, basil and garlic to start. They could use larger portion cups for the delicious oil. Caesar salad is a must to start. This time I enjoyed the Shrimp Scuzzi's. Large shrimp lightly breaded and fried. My family and I came in for a late Mother's Day lunch and boy were we surprised. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable (thanks to our server, Dan). I ordered the chicken alfredo which was delicious and flavorful. The bar area we sat in was good, but could've been a bit cleaner in my opinion. Still, this wasn't enough to detract from the amazing service Dan provided us. He was very attentive to everything we needed. Very tasty authentic Italian without a long wait time. Parking is easy and convenient. Me and my wife actually tried to meet some friends across 1604 at Paesanos but the wait time was an hour-long and parking was a nightmare so we decided to check out Scuzzi's across the street. Have not been here in person but ordered food via DD and it was excellent. We absolutely loved our dishes.

This was our first time at this restaurant. Our server, Rudy, was attentive without being overbearing. My husband particularly enjoyed his lasagna! It did get progressively noisier as more people arrived. My husband has hearing problems, so that much noise can be painful for him. That's the only reason I rated 4 stars instead of 5. read more

Great location. Wonderful food and atmosphere. Only caution is that it's very loud inside. We had no trouble talking across the table but the chatter from other tables definitely fills the air. If you decide to go, and I recommend that you do, Rudy is an excellent server. Ask to sit in his section. read more

Made reservations to come here for Mother's Day Lunch. They sat us down in a timely manner. They were busy though but they maintained their cool during the entire time. It was our 1st time there and our waitress Illissa was very helpful and patient with my dad's order. He wanted gravy for his mashed potatoes Their bread was soft and tasty, could have more olive oil for dipping though. They have a great wine selection. Their salads are huge and fresh. We then decided to get the dessert menu. Saw that they had crème brûlée, I had to order it of course! Illissa reported that they don't do the flame on dessert anymore for show. Which is fine by me, just get me my dessert. Dessert was brought and it 4 slices of strawberries around the dish, i was expecting an array of different berries. Then proceeded to break the hardened caramelized sugar..... The custard was runny like pudding, it was not solidified at all. Don't know if it skipped a step or what happened. It tasted good but it was not in the form it was supposed to be. Asked Illissa to please take it cause I couldn't eat that. She apologized and removed it from our tab. Not her fault at all. Up in San Antonio for the weekend and needed an old school italian meal. Bada Bing , it's Scuzzi's. A supper club environment on par with Chicago or New York. The experience is complete with waitstaff in vests and booties and linen napkins. Every dish worthy of Mama's approval. Crisp calamari, rich Sunday gravy, fresh bread with oil and balsamic. They even serve veal! Some of the socially "woke" will turn their nose but it is a traditional dish that had lost favor but is still is a standard. Knowledgeable staff, friendly and always ready to make a recommendation or cater to most requests. Until I go back to Chi-town this place is it! Our waiter "J" was AWESOME! We actually popped in here because we came in from out of town, wanted pasta and didn't know where to go. Paesano's was a little fancier than we wanted (though you could definitely come here dressed for a date night) so we were looking for something different. We were so glad we gave this a try. I came here for a work lunch and it was absolutely delicious. I ordered the Scallops app, Tortellini, Caesar salad, tiramisu and a cappuccino. The waitstaff was very attentive, and it was very busy! We had our main waiter, another to clear plates/clean up crumbs, another that topped off our drinks, and another ensuring we were happy with our meal. We were a large group and ordered a lot of food and the timing on bringing our food (apps all together, entrees all together, desserts all together) was great! No one had to wait to eat their meal for others, everyone's food was hot as needed. We are a very patient group (knowing we are a large group) and we were very impressed with the staff. 20/10!! read more

I previously tried the Shrimp Scuzzi at a local food festival about 8 months ago. The shrimp was very flavorful and left a great impression. I ordered the Shrimp Scuzzi's a few nights ago for delivery. I figured ok one of the most expensive items on the menu ($26), no biggie. The shrimp was great the time I had it before let me get the dinner entree. When I got my food, I was deeply disappointed at the potion size. With only 5 shrimp and a small bed of pasta for $26 which was probably only a $4 food cost. The shrimp had good flavor and was the reason I selected this entree, but I feel a dish with the the name Scuzzi's associated with it could have at least 3 more shrimp in it. read more

Great spot for a date night! The pasta is delicious and the portion sizes are massive. I've never been a huge fan of chicken parmesan, but since trying more vegetarian food, I gave the eggplant parmesan a try. I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. Super cheesy if you're into mozzarella and there was enough pasta leftover for dinner the next night! The husband got lasagna and a salad which he also thought was great. I've also had the shrimp parmesan in the past and it was awesome. The Italian margarita is the best I've ever had! I wish I knew the recipe so I could make it at home. My only complaint is the glass was only 3/4 of the way full so that sucked...prices weren't bad for a Saturday night and we had a coupon which made it even better! read more

I really wish I would have taken pictures of the food, my apologies! We had a fairly large group (22 total) and we called with only one day's notice. Scuzzi's was very happy to accommodate our group for lunch on a Saturday. Food was great and service was amazing! We brought in a cake for dessert and they let us know the day before that there was a $1/ person "cake fee", which included them slicing and serving the cake. I was appreciative that they made sure I was aware of the fee the day before and the day of that this charge would apply. Would definitely recommend the wedge salad, their pizzas, and their chicken Alfredo. Yummmmm!! With special events, service can make or break your experience. Scuzzi's went above and beyond and should absolutely be considered for an excellent and delicious dining experience. read more

The wine list is extensive, moderately priced, with best deals on Tuesdays. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable, with outstanding customer service. UPDATE 3/27/18: it was very clear that the management did not take below excellent reviews very lightly and wanted to do everything possible to ensure an outstanding guest experience. We decided to give them another try and I am so glad we did. This time I was sure to order different dishes just to try them out. Once again the service was completely outstanding. I did not have a minute of unfilled water and the servers were very diligent and attentive. This time we ordered the scuzzi sampler appetizer which came with scuzzi shrimp, baked scallop, and calamari. TIP: when ordering this let them know that you'd like eg: 2 scallops instead of one to share. We got one but later found out we could have asked for one each. This appetizer was absolutely exquisite! The scuzzi shrimp, considering that I haven't been loving shrimp as of lately, was completely mouthwatering leaving you wanting more. The scallops were a great size as well and tasted great. This time around somehow the calamari also turned out to be better. For the main dish I ordered the three cheese manicotti and oh my! It was amazing! Definitely 10 times better than the ravioli I had the time before. All in all this was a million times better than our first visit and our palettes definitely thanked us for going back. I now have a favorite appetizer dish in town! TIP: for vegetarians, the manicotti is definitely a recommended dish to try! Not an impressive outing by any means. We ordered the fried calamari, the chicken Parmesan and the three cheese ravioli. The calamari was just ok - deep fried not in a high class restaurant style. Had it not been for the accompanying marinara, I would have thought it was frozen and fried at home. The ravioli itself tasted like a good bag of frozen ravioli you would buy from a store (a good one though). The creamy sauce did help uplift the texture and flavor but without the sauce i would not rate the ravioli more than 2*'s. The chicken Parmesan on the other hand was something hubby actually did get disgusted of. Based on his entree choice, he said he never wants to go back... The service to the contrary of the very unimpressive food choices was actually excellent. All the servers were incredibly attentive and did not let our water run out before refilling it.
