Having the compressor on our 18 month old Kenmore Elite refrigerator freezer die was quite disappointing. Fortunately, we had purchased an extended warranty. It took several days for the repair to be scheduled, then the technician had to order the compressor. The first compressor arrived in a box that had been split open. That compressor was damaged. So, another compressor was ordered. We waited several days for that to be delivered and we were eventually told that part was no longer being made. Many, many phone calls, being placed on hold, dropped calls that were not returned so that we had to start all over with phoning in to get some help caused a HUGE waste of our time - most calls were 45 minutes or more!! Sears eventually agreed to rent a refrigerator for us to use until ours could be repaired. They did pay $300.00 for food loss, but this did not cover the expense of replacing everything that we had to replace. As it turns out, there was a compressor available, so apparently the parts, suppliers and service departments within Sears don't communicate very well. They agreed to replace the large freezer basket that was ruined when meat defrosted. The first basket that was shipped was not the correct size. Granted, this is the basket that identified as the correct one, but it did not fit. Again, we spent HOURS on the phone trying to explain the situation. I measured the correct size and reported that to the parts department, and we even suggested that they send a technician to measure so that the correct basket could be ordered. Several days later they called to say a technician would come out to measure for the basket. The correct size basket was shipped, but it was broken. Here we go again with the phone calls. We finally received the correct basket and it was not broken. I called to see what we were supposed to do with the broken basket. Once again, another long phone call took place. We were sent to another department and were told, after several minutes, that she needed to send the call back to the original department. At that point I asked to speak with a supervisor. The question was simply whether or not to return the broken basket, and if so would they send pre-paid shipping label, or if we were being directed to throw away the broken basket could we get an email for documentation of what we were being told to do. Getting an email sent for our records got into another issue of being put on hold to check with someone else. We finally gave up on the email request. Now we have to wait for another technician to pick up the broken basket. Disappointment on every front, I'd say. First, that a relatively new and expensive appliance would break so soon, and secondly, that customer service was NON-EXISTENT. NO ONE seemed to take ownership of fixing the problem or addressing our concerns. We were the ones having to do all the leg work, taking ownership, and investing several hours of frustration to get this problem resolved. I feel that Kenmore/Sears owes us something for our efforts based on time spent, our frustration level, and the exceeded food loss above the $300 we received. At the time we purchased this refrigerator, we spent close to $10,000 at Sears to replace appliances in a house we were buying. We purchased a dish washer, microwave oven, oven/stove, refrigerator, and also a new TV. At the time, we felt that Sears was a reliable retailer with whom to make such a huge investment. We have definitely been soured by this experience. It was bad enough that such a high end refrigerator failed in such a short period of time costing us an extreme amount of loss from the food loss, but for the support to be just as bad or even exceeding the failure is very bad business from that front. Maybe this feedback will be used to improve their service, but I cannot endorse buying from Sears. We will never buy another item from Sears. read more

Did not order the correct parts have been waiting three weeks for the correct parts to my oven

This has been the worst experience EVER! My fridge went down in January. Sears was to send someone the same day, they never came and late that night I received a cancelation call and a new date. Before that appointment I received a automated call that the appointment was to be rescheduled. Finally the day of service arrived and he could not fix it as he had to order parts and said that he would return in a week. Day before that appointment, again the automated cancelation and new appointment date for another week. Guy came said that it was fixed and that everything would be good in 24 hours. If anything it is hotter! Called Sears to have someone come out and was told that it would be another 2 weeks and that I would have to pay another $170.00 diagnostic fee! I just spent $700.00! This is shameful and I have been without a working fridge and freezer for over 2 months now. I would never use Sears again and never recommend. The sears repair technician was on time, very professional, determined the problem right away, and had the part on his truck. He was able to fix my Kenmore Elite dryer quickly and efficiently. It was rather expensive, but I was happy to have the technician come to the house and make the repair on the spot. He was very courteous, respectful, and knowledgeable. Sears is a complete joke. I called to make an appointment and was advised that Sears no longer perform service calls on Saturday. I told the agent that I am a teacher and is unable to take off, since the school year is nearing conclusion. The agent said no problem, I'll make note for your appointment to be the last service call of the day. I was instructed to be home by 5. I received a phone call from the repair person at 2:15 stating that he was at my residence. I don't get off of work until 3:15. When I called the repair center, they told me that they didn't make a comment about come at 5 and there's is nothing they can do. I asked so I can not get my appliance repaired because of my work hours. The agent stated I guess so. They had the audacity to call me the next day to reschedule. I have a service agreement with Sears on my washer and dryer. I called them out because the washer's lid was beginning to rust and I wanted the lid replaced. The tech, ( ID 0733055), tells me that it isn't covered under the service agreement because it's older than 3 years. Why don't they tell you this stuff when they are badgering you to renew your agreement?? I then asked him to price the cost of replacing the hinges where the rust is; that I would replace them myself. I told him I wanted 2 hinges with the screws (screws cost extra!!!). I get the parts 5 days later and receive 1 hinge and 1 screw!!!. Each hinge needs 2 screws (at $7.24 each). I then call the 1800-FORMYHOME and get transferred twice to a guy in Texas that tells me ANOTHER dept. will be calling me to find out what parts I need!!! It's been 4 days and NO ONE has called!!!. They made promises to us to fix our broken ice maker but not only refused to complete the job, but rudely told my wife the the person who made the promises was misinformed. Horrible experience! I called them out to fix my freezer, which required me to sign a year agreement. I had to call them back for the same issue 4 times, and it is still not resolved. In fact, it is far worse. I had to wait 2 weeks to get today's appointment, and I waited 9 hours for a technician who never showed up. I called sears 3 times and could not get through after waiting for almost an hour. I texted 4 times on their chat app and was left hanging. They don't care about anything but taking your money. I purchased my washer and dryer from Sears 11 years ago and had a great service experience back then. My washer stopped working 2 weeks ago so I contacted Sears service center to have someone come take a look at it. The washer and dryer are stacked in a very narrow space, blocking all of the cords and hood vents. I told the representative over the phone and I placed it in writing online that I needed 2 service men to come out because of how narrow the space is. It has always been a 2 service man repair job historically. The customer service representative reassured me that she confirmed 2 service men would come to my house during the date of service. Only 1 service man showed up. When he got there he couldn't even pull the washer and dryer out by himself to diagnose it. I got charged $89 for absolutely nothing. When I called Sears customer service the same day to complain the male and female customer service representatives named Lucas and Criz told me there was nothing they could do but offer me a $50 Sears gift card. I even asked for a partial refund because what the customer service rep for Sears reassured me would occur did not happen. I was declined a partial refund. I asked to speak to another supervisor higher than Criz. She told me someone would reach out to me in 24-48 hours and that never happened. These phone calls took place on 10/21/2021 at 9:28am. Don't do it. Waste of time and waiting for appt. Technician check for hot 5 secs of diagnoses and never review full issue. They look at internal guide to follow the steps to repair (very robotic). They will sometimes not show up and cancel last minute after waiting for a whole day. Warranty is waste. Find a qualified repair shop in town that is experienced or YouTube your issues to repair yourself. Customer service does not do much either and will give you the fine print and run around to avoid all issues presented. Take your time, energy, and money elsewhere. I have First American Home warranty and they scheduled me with Sears to fix a broken appliance. I was scheduled for 10am-2pm window. Obviously that means they can show up at 1:59 and expect us to be ok with it. You know what, I would be OK with it to be honest. But noo here's what happened: At 12 the tech called said he is running late. I'm like, no problem the scheduled time is till 2pm anyway. So come 2pm and no show. I called the cell that he called me from and no answer. It took till 6PM till the Sears tech told me he wont be able to make it because he has 2 more customers ahead of me. BOYCOTT all SEARS. Buy all Appliances elsewhere! And certainly do NOT EVER buy a 'Service Agreement,' with them. They seriously just need to go out of business already. We were traveling for the holidays and thought we'd drop it off (at the only, far away=another inconvenience= termed Sears repair facility) and just pick it up when we get back, because they "have to send it out for servicing." Another inconvenience, as you're without for at least a termed "2 to 3 weeks!" Seriously? Mind you, there was nothing seriously wrong with it, besides the suction not being on par as it usually was, we just wanted it to be cleaned out and have them take a look it to see if any of the parts were needing to be replaced soon, so do it, and make the suction stronger, type of request. That IS what we paid for! Well, we get it back and use it, it worked just ok once, but was running heavy, heavier than it did before we took it in and then it started to smell and smoke up like it was going to blow up! I quickly unplug it and turn it over and notice a long black scuff mark along the bottom right side of it, that was NOT there before I took it in! No Joke! So I called and (being nice as I could) explained why I took it in and the condition it was in before, then after... Basically, I was given the same stupid arss song and dance, "Well Ma'am you need to take it to a Sears Repair facility for them to send it out for repair." Me: UMM NOOO.... I just described to you that you actually broke my vacuum and scuffed it up, and you are telling me to take it back to the same place for repairs? Put yourself in my shoes and then try to repeat back to me what you just said. "I'm sorry Ma'am the process is what it is." (Mind you this is after being hung up after holding for over 8 minutes for a CSR) Then I was given a different # to call, just to be put on hold again, to then speak to another careless drone CSR who said the exact same thing! So I then firmly asked for ONLY a MANAGER, to which I speak to 'Eric' I describe everything as calmly as I could, referencing just how poor their customer service is, " I'm sorry our policy it what it is, there is nothing I can do for you." I said really? You broke my vacuum and there's nothing you can for me? I said, let me speak to, or get the information to your VP! I will find it online, come hell or high water, because this is upsurd! To which, "What do you want me to do for you?" This call turned into a 40 minute conversation (longest from the previous calls where I was tossed around uselessly..), after speaking to a 'retention specialist' to where I demanded a refund for the crap service contract or a brand new vacuum! Well the nice lady, 'Tiffany', tried to do what she could to get me a new one, after holding for numerous minutes while she obviously spoke to different areas: Conclusion: I got my service contract $ back! 1. Your serviceman cut the water line to our ice maker/water and was surprised to that he couldn't jerry-rig it back together. 2. He left our $50 water filter sitting in the sink and when we called him right after he left TWICE to ask what to do... put the filter back or not he never bothered to call us back. 3. It took 3 days for part he broke to be ordered under you "high priority" rating and no one can tell me when it will arrive. 4. When we called to find out when this part will arrive your operator said that they had no idea and "it's not our problem". 5. We had to call back several times because the operator would hang up on us when we asked for a supervisor or just say there isn't one. Your servicemen are poorly trained, we've had two so far... one told us there was problem and the other came ill prepared TWICE. Wish we could give a negative review. We went three weeks to the day without a refrigerator. It (Kenmore Pro) quit running 17 days after the warranty expired. First response was a misdiagnosis, which required a week of waiting for the wrong part to come. Second visit diagnosed the broken compressor. Another part had to be ordered which added another week. Then they could not come for yet another week to install. This is so sad, and indicative of the many problems Sears is experiencing as a company. Sears, A once great company with excellent products and service is alas, no more. We purchased an LG dishwasher two years ago from Sears. With the warranty it cost $969.00. After just two years of light to normal use it stopped working. No problem we thought as we have a warranty ! Then the nightmare began. Instead of sending a technician ( that's what they call them now ) to our home they do a over the phone diagnosis. Then they order the parts they THINK are needed. They then schedule the tech visit to your home 2 weeks out. When the parts arrive the customers is supposed to call the help center and they will reschedule ( hopefully ) for an earlier date. Forget About It.. The parts arrived ( all 8 ) in two days. We called Sears. The next available tech was in three weeks !. When the techy finally arrived he informed us that the wrong parts were sent AND that the diagnosis was wrong. he admitted that if he came first he would have seen what was really wrong. New parts were ordered and they tow arrived in two days. The tech could not come for another 18 days ! It is now almost 2 months without a dishwasher. Forget about calling Sears. You will get a different answer from whoever you speak with. Nobody knows anything, everything is above their pay grade. If you hate bad surprises and worse endings stay away from Sears. Their warranty service is next to worthless and they will not extend it to compensate for the time it took to repair your appliance. I needed a bake igniter for gas oven and the tech offered to replace for $460!!!! Talk about racket. Do yourself a favor and STAY FAR FAR FAR AWAY from this company. They come with a bag of tricks.... they offer to replace igniter for $240 if I go with home warranty program of $49 a month. I DID NOT CALL them for a home warranty program. The 2nd technician apparently 'diagnosed' the problem and that wasn't considered a repair visit. The 3rd tech broke the part that the 2nd tech ordered and ordered a new part! If there was ANY way to give a zero,or below, believe me that is what I would give this company that has nonexistent customer service skills! After waiting all afternoon and calling a couple of times to ensure they were on schedule, I got a call from them saying (and listen closely to this) "Your repairman is in Covington is all the way out in Covington and won't be able to make to Roswell so you'll have to reschedule!" I went ballistic as this very same thing happened to me when I used them several years ago. I asked him what the problem was with their scheduling and he said they had overbooked him. I asked if HE was the repair person and he said "yes I am, do you want to reschedule or not?!" He never offered an apology of any kind. I told him I was furious that I had wasted my afternoon waiting on them to get there and his response was "you can call customer service if you want to complain!" I told him that I had already been that route several years ago and it did no good whatsoever, so I wouldn't waste my breath! He responded with "well do you want me to reschedule you or not? I said go ahead & see what's available. There was an 8am-12noon available & I took It. I reiterated that I wanted a phone call when the repairman was enroute. Lastly, I asked his name and he just said Adolf. Well, this morning at 8:33am my doorbell rang. You guessed it! No one called before coming! At least THIS technician was very polite & courteous! I asked why he didn't call before his arrival and he said they never call before the first visit of the day!! How stupid is that?? How am I supposed to know that I'm the first visit?? And what difference does that make when the customer has explicitly asked that they be called when the repairman is on the way? They would only give me a window of 8am - 12noon and I had no idea where our visit would be during that time! He said that was just their policy. Arthur was very nice and polite, but nonetheless I've just decided to NEVER use this company again !! Terrible customer service. I wait almost 15 mins to get a refund and still didn't get it and had to leave to go back to work. The manager said she only had to go to the back to look at the barcode on my item. That takes no time and while the other person was on the phone with another Sears rep, she just stood there instead of going to the back to retrieve the barcode. Now I have to drive back up here to get the refund. This kind of customer service is why I canceled my order and went to Best Buy instead. read more

I have the Home Warranty Service for appliances and it is awful. I called them originally to repair my refrigerator and the repairman suggested the warranty service. He stated they would cover all the appliances in the home. When I called they gave me a price and stated three times it would cover all the appliances in the home. When I made my first call a few months later to repair another refrigerator in the garage, they sent a tech out who said they didn't make the parts I needed for this refrigerator anymore. I called Sears and they verified that if it couldn't be fixed they would replace it. After not hearing back for several weeks, I made three additional calls and finally got a supervisor who said they would send another tech out. Over a month after my original call, a new tech comes out and says the warranty does not cover this refrigerator -- the first time this had been mentioned after specifically telling me otherwise. When I said I wanted to cancel, they said I could by paying the penalty specified in the agreement that is not posted online. Call Sears to fix a dishwasher. Repairman came out late 2 hours late. After diagnosis he order a part. When the part came in the repairman came back out to put the part in and said they shipped the wrong part and part was reorder. A different technician came out and said that the wrong part came in and order another part. I cancelled the order after this because it was a month and called another company out. The other company fixed my dishwasher within a week and the part that was replaced had nothing to do with what your technicians diagnosed. Once I cancelled I was suppose to get a refund $220.68 for parts and labor for job that was never completed. I have called and get the run around and this has been over a month. Sears Home Services is very unreliable. I waited days on an appointment to get my refrigerator serviced. I got the appointment scheduled then called the 888-213-2746 number when I did not hear from them I was told they would show up between 4:30 pm and 6:00 pm. The technician called me and hung up. I called back twice and when I was leaving him a message he left me one saying he would need to reschedule me five days later. I took off half a day for this appointment. This was a Sears repair van and employee named Roberto. He knew exactly how to fix the noisy, rough running dryer. He had the rubber wheels in the van and quickly put them on the dryer. The difference in noise and vibration was astonishing! We wish we would have called them sooner since it runs so much better. read more

Seriously the largest disappointment I have ever had with appliance repair. I have been a customer for over 14 years. It took two appointments and my working from home to diagnose the problem with my oven. On the third scheduled working from home day to have the oven part installed, my technician never showed up. I wasted 10+ hours on and off the phone getting the runaround with customer service, dealing with an extremely rude supervisor, getting disconnected from customer service, and being lied to. I was texed asking "how was my service?" when my technician never even showed up! After hours on the phone and via chat with customer service representatives and supervisors, I finally got someone out here the next day, my FOURTH day having to work from home, and we got a technician out here to install my oven part. When I asked for a discount because of all of the headaches I had been through, the best they could do was 10% and I still haven't received that. Run, don't walk, away from Sears Home Services when considering your appliance repair. I am a customer no more and have encouraged all of my family, friends, neighbors and community members to do the same. read more

Needed a quote on a new heating and cooling system for the home. They came out and after accessing our needs he asked me to sit to go over proposal BUT FIRST he wanted to tell me about sears and what they do. This led into a 30 minute + power point presentation on sears. I was getting a headache.... I just wanted a quick quote on a system. He finally got around to the prices on the two different sizes of systems. I asked to email them to me so I can go over them with my husband. He explained that they do not email people. I said please print them. "oh, we don't carry printers!" he said! So how am I to recall all of this. His answer was.... Sears home services is NO GOOD. On March 1, 2018 a tech came to my house, decided what part had to be ordered for my refrigerator. He ordered the part to be delivered to me and told me when it arrived to call Sears home sevice for tech to come install. I paid him 50% for this service and installation at that time, March 1, 2018. Now I cannot get Sears to keep any appointments -every time they give me an appointment time a recording calls me to reschedule. I have called and resecduled 6 times in last last 2 weeks, but Sears keeps calling with this recording to reschedule. Why does Sears set up appointment only to call a few hours later with the recoding to reschedule??? Every time Sears sets up an appointment I arrange my schedule accordingly and then this recording calls to reschedule. I cannot keep doing this. read more

We bought a LG washer from Sears several years ago. We bought the 5 year warranty. On 1/11/20 the washer stopped working. We called for service. On 1/13/20 the tech arrived. He diagnosed the problem and started looking for the parts in the Sears system. I parts available. Said he would order and then return. We waited several days then called their repair service. We were told would not be available until some time in March! We told them this was unacceptable. They said we had to wait 21 days before they would replace the washer. We waited and we were told that we have debentures approved for a replacement. Went to the closest Sears store (still open). After much discussion we were told that no LG washers were available anyplace in their system. The salesperson (very attentive) called their corporate offices. She was told no LG washers until April. Indicated the problem was with LG. We went to Best Buy. They had 95 of the replacement washer in their warehouse. No wonder Sears is going out of business! After 4 visits the dish washer still does not work. I have paid for the services and parts and will not get the refund for the service ( or no service) as the dish washer still dos not work. Tried calling multiple times but customer support will not help and will not refund the amount. each time a different technician arrived and refused to take accountability for the previous tech's diagnosis/ repair. He already took the part that I already paid for. And yes the previous 2 techs did not give a receipt so be careful. Luckily I have my credit card receipts. read more

PSA: If you are going to purchase an appliance from Sears just drive to The Home Depot and pretend it is Sears. Warning: Long if you want to avoid disaster, read on. We have a washer/dryer set from Sears that is just barely 2 years old (purchased 1/6/16). It has a protection agreement (which cost a lot extra) until 2021 that includes service, repairs and replacements as needed during that time. The washer is a Kenmore. On Jan 8, after barely 2 years, the washer just stopped working. I called and report this to Sears and they said somebody would be out only 2 days later. The service technician gave me a time and when they did not show up I called Sears. Sears rescheduled them. They came the next day and said that they couldn't get the washer apart (specifically they were unable to remove the tub) and would order a new tub and try again in 5-7 days. They said they would let me know via phone. No one called, so on Jan 11 I contacted Sears and asked when they would come. They directed me to call the actual service tech. The number I was given had a full voicemail. I called repeatedly and no one answered. First available appointment was a full week out when our refrigerator broke. We waited the week only to have the tech never show up. When we called customer service, they were not only difficult and unprofessional, but they told us the best they could do was to re schedule the appointment for 8 days later. After much discussion they moved the appointment up by one day. The tech did show up the next week but the computers were down so he couldn't order the parts. He told us that he would get the parts ordered and be back in 6 days to finally repair the refrigerator (now three weeks later). A few days before the appointment the tech called to say that due to scheduling error they were changing the appoint and we would now have to wait another 4 more days before they would fix it. We will have been one month without a refrigerator at that point, And that's if they actually show up and fix it. Never going to buy a Kenmore appliance again and will definitely never use Sears Home Services again. read more
