Rachid, our repair technician, was great! The rest of the customer service and the program were horrible and I will not recommend or use it again. We were somewhat surprised when our refrigerator was not fixed on the original service date. We had indicated the compressor had gone bad, yet on September 6th when the technician came out he brought no parts. He did an evaluation and then ordered parts and set our appointment for ten days later. That is somewhat understandable although disappointing. Then things got even grotesquely worse! On Saturday, September 16th (our original repair date) we were told to sit home from 8 to 5 and await our repair service. We arranged our schedule on that day so that could be accomplished. Halfway through that day, we got an email out of the blue that said our appointment was now moved to September 25th, another nine days later. That was totally, 100% unacceptable!!! Nobody had the human decency to call us and nobody came to the house. I was shifted to and talked to a dozen different people at Sears Home Services and NOBODY could give me a reason, let alone a valid reason, we had to wait for another week+ to have a working refrigerator. I am still awaiting that answer! When my warranty program is one year old and I can cancel it, I will. I will not use this service again and I will not recommend it to my worst enemy. read more

They sent multiple people to fix our fridge and ordered parts. As soon as they realized they needed to come back to fix the problems, the guarantee to fix the issue within 30 days went out the window. People were sent and never showed, or they claimed we weren't home even if I had the guy inside my house. When I went to get a refund, they said I would have to pay for the faulty parts they installed that didn't fix the issue. Shady practices all around. Reported them to the BBB and performed a charge back on the credit card. Sears (really Transformco) is impossible to contact, and when I finally got to a live person, they were useless and wouldn't let me speak to anyone else that could actually do something. I was promised escalation and a call within 48 hours 2 times and no one ever called. It took over 2 months and 8 appointments for my microwave to be fixed. What an embarrassment to Transformco. I have been a warranty customer since 2009, I was treated with such disrespect that I'll be taking my business elsewhere. Not too happy with the intake interface or with the information available to the consumer. Make the technician map available as part of the order for repair. This will mitigate the customer having to sit tight for several hours. I say this because my first appointment was between 12-4:00 PM. Tech showed up after 6:00 when my family and I were having dinner. Not to mention, I had already rescheduled for the following morning. The next day appointment was from 8-12:00, at 3:00 PM I called and tricked the system by choosing reschedule or cancellation to be able to speak to a real person. Once I got Marina on the phone she was helpful and we discovered that I had an appointment but no technician was assigned to my repair. Today I finally got Brian and he is magnificent. read more

Your technician did absolutely nothing, he didn't like that we have a dryer on top and wanted us to move it before he can service the washer, My son who is 200LBS and 6'2" could have helped him, it took me 5 minutes to unscrew the two screws holding the plate and moved the dryer out of the way. I sent photos of the stack and the model number when they were requested and no one says anything about removing the dryer. I took off from work one day, my wife one day and my son stayed home one day because you all canceled the call and re-scheduled twice. After getting no response from local service companies, I contacted Sears Appliance Repair. Scheduling the service appointment was straightforward. The technician showed up and informed me that a part was required for the washing machine (which I knew because I requested the part to be replaced (Washer door boot) when I made the appointment). After paying for the part and the service call, the technician left but only after confirming the next appointment to install the part. After receiving the part at my home, the technician arrived on the scheduled appointment date only to inform us that we received an incorrect part. He then reordered the part and scheduled a new date for the service. On the third visit everything was taken care of. I would use them again as the only issue was the wrong part being delivered however, I could do without the home warranty sales pitch. Met my very low expectations. Let me preface by saying that I generally never buy warranties for appliances. In my experience, the most expensive portion of the repair or replacement--the labor--is not covered, and the process for invoking a warranty is ridiculously cumbersome. Also, the warranties that come with appliances usually expire long before the appliance breaks down; so I rarely get service under warranty these days. I think the last time I bothered with one was 15 or 20 years ago. However, my Kenmore water heater had a 12 year warranty and it failed last week after only 7 years; so I had the perfect opportunity to see if warranty service has improved or not. Spoiler alert: It hasn't. My review below is broken down by each step of my experience. I assign each step its own star rating. Step 1. Filing a claim (Easy - Five Stars) If you keep your owner's manuals (...and shame on you if you don't), the number for warranty service was under the "Warranty" paragraph. The operator was professional and collected my information cheerfully even though I had not submitted my warranty card. He also set up the appointment for the technician to arrive. Step 2. Obtaining Service (Ridiculously hard - One Star) Here we go. I received a call from the "technician" on the day of service. He explained that my problem could be solved by a plumber and tried to get me to cancel the appointment. Of course he got nowhere with me--this was a warranty call; and if the "technician" dispatched felt that he did not have the skills to address my issue, then he was welcome to contact Sears and let them know a different technician would need to be summoned. He grudgingly agreed to show up for the service appointment. The "technician" did show up in a Sears van, took a quick look at the water tank, and--once again--declared it to be a plumbing issue. Long story longer, I told him that I spoke 'plumber' and that he could simply tell me what part I needed to pick up from the local hardware store or order from Sears. He could do neither--because it was the tank's coldwater inlet stem that had rusted through and sheared off. He took some pictures and sent them to his manager. Then, it was her turn to argue that this was a plumbing issue. She was clearly the 'bad cop' and was basically huffy, angry and rude. I finally got her to send the pictures to one of her in-house plumbers--who promptly declared it NOT to be a plumbing issue and certified that the tank needed to be replaced. Hallelujah. Note that I had to pay $99 for the pleasure of arguing with the "technician" and his supervisor while they did everything they could to get me to withdraw my warranty service request. The only useful thing that came out of this step was that the 'technician' measured the water pressure coming into the house. (It was 80 psi if you were curious.) Step 3. Obtaining a new tank. (Hardly worth my time - Two Stars) The "technician" informed me of the process now that the tank was declared unrepairable. I politely listened and promptly called Sears 24 hours after the service call to find out what I needed to do. As I suspected, his fantasy process bore no resemblance to reality. It took three calls to Mexico before they finally put me on hold for four minutes and came back with a resolution. Sears would pay me the 2014 list price for the Kenmore water heater ($699) only after I bought a new water heater and sent them the receipt. Sears would not reimburse for the $99 warranty service call, inflation (...that Kenmore now costs $1,100), sales tax ($47.16), shipping ($75) or the labor to install the new water heater ($200 estimate). Needless to say, I did not buy another sears product; and I will not be using Sears "technicians" for the new installation. Conclusion. Sears' warranty paid 62% of the total cost to replace a water heater that was 58% through its useful life, so I guess I came out a little bit ahead economically on this transaction. However, their process stretched out the resolution from 4 - 8 days to 15 miserable days of cold showers. Also, they lost the last Sears appliance in my house and any 'foot in the door' they had to sell me more. Bottom Line. My decision to refuse to buy additional warranties above and beyond the factory warranty was validated, and Sears is now out of my life. read more

I set up a window for 12-4 service, they arrived at 9am when I wasn't home and then said they'd be back at 12. Came back at 5pm. No warning, no calls, no communication whatsoever. When my AC broke down this week at temperatures soaring above 95, my home warranty Cinch assigned my service request to Sears Home Services. I scheduled an appointment on their site for the following day between 0700 and 1100 a.m. i took off from work but nobody from Sears Home Services either showed up or called. After several attempts, I finally able to talk to one of their customer service representatives. She apologized and scheduled me for the following day between 0800 and 1200. I took another day off but once again nobody either showed up or called. They wasted 8 hours of my time in two consecutive days and did not even have the courtesy to contact me.
