Modern, spacious, heart-warming space and coffee. This is an excellent neighborhood coffee shop. From the outside, it looks like any old shop in the block, but in the inside you feel like you're in a different place. This is a small 2 story cafe with many single and group table tops - perfect for catching up with a friend, a small team meeting, or finishing up some personal work on your computer. There is plenty of natural lighting from the skylines and windows. Everything so clean and modern! The service I received was quick, friendly, and inviting. I ordered a mocha and was very pleased by my drink. It was the perfect temperature to drink when served and the garnish of whip and chocolate powder was my favorite. Used to come here all the time but lately has been less than pleasant. Upstairs every time it rains the skylight leaks and when you walk past the dish window there is a swarm of flies. I have also gotten the gluten free lemon bar and it tasted rancid. I've let the employees know but now months later nothing has been done. Workers have been more than nice about complaints but nothing seems to have changed. Drinks are great and service is great but flies and mold are gross. read more

I came here for a cup of sunshine and that is EXACTLY what I got. I walked in on an early Saturday morning hoping for something sweet, so I asked if they could add flavors to their hot chocolates. The barista recommended either a peppermint or a toasted marshmallow.... toasted marshmallow?! It was absolutely incredible. Of course you'd have to have a sweet tooth to enjoy it, but I savored every second of that drink. There was a subtle hint of marshmallow, smooth texture and the fluffiness of it, ugh I want more. It felt like a warm s'more in drink form. I came here to get some work done and for the most part, it was a good environment. I really liked the upstairs and the peacefulness of it, but because of the neighborhood area, it got a little distracting and loud with kids (but boy were they cute). It was spacious, cute interior, friendly people. I would highly recommend if you're taking coffee to go or trying to catch up with a friend, not as much for working. Definitely try all the flavors they have or ask to customize! I can't comment on coffee yet, but I'll be back to try it (or maybe I'll just get the toasted marshmallow again..). read more

This is one of my favorite coffee spots in Seattle. Their chai latte (the only thing I drink) is delicious and served by some really nice baristas. The price is what you would expect from a Seattle business. As a student I really come here for the atmosphere. There are two levels, the first being a more open and lively space while the second is nice for a more casual study area. Free wifi and outlets are a plus. A small but nice detail is that the hot sauce on deck is surprisingly good. Its not a tabasco or a cholula, but a smokey, rich sauce that I like to douse my pesto turkey paninis in. My reasoning for giving this spot a 4 stars out of 5 is that they do seem to have a fly issue. Not a fruit fly, but like the big black fly type. Its not always an issue, but I've seen it enough to know its not a one-time problem. Overall, while this cafe seems to attract customers of a buzzing sort, I love this place, and you should check it out. read more

Like some other reviewers mentioned, downstairs is super loud, so wander upstairs for a bit more quiet if that's what you need. Also, coffees aren't very hot, so you should ask for extra, EXTRA hot. This is a great study spot. It is warm, quiet, spacious, and... sunny! The upstairs may get a little too toasty and if it's getting too much you can request for the heater to be turned down. Their huge windows let in lots of natural light and their soft music makes it a relaxing place to study at. The barista was also super sweet! But like one of the previous posts I read, some may have to request their coffee to be a little hotter. Anyway, I think their name is quite fitting and we all know Seattleites could have some more sun in our lives! read more

It was on the sweeter side, so that might be something to consider according to preference. I selfishly don't want to post this review because I want to keep this cafe a secret! If you're looking for an awesome cup of cappuccino and a great place to study, you need to check out Seattle Sunshine Coffee. It's fairly new to the scene but already well on its way to becoming a neighborhood staple. Their cappuccino blew me away with its delicious foam-to-espresso ratio, there's a ton of seating (two floors!), and the baristas are super friendly. Not the most eccentric and artsy cafe but it fits the bill for a wide range of customers: students, families, friend dates, etc. SSC shares the building with other local businesses and the internet was a little funky the last time I went, so check that out before you settle in for a work sesh. read more

I think it's a bit ironic that any cafe in Seattle would have the word "sunshine" in it, but this new cafe definitely brightens up my day! Came here on a early weekday morning and got the whole place to myself. + (Pos) - easy, open street parking all around the neighborhood - super nice barista who makes a mean latte! - bathroom is huge and clean - spectacular, clean space with windows everywhere, so even on the gloomiest days this place is bright! - the loft upstairs is quiet and great for getting work done and studying - pastries/ food look high-quality and delicious (I got the blueberry scone warmed and it was HUGE and not too sweet) - espresso drink was professionally crafted and smooth - minimalist, modern, and neighborly vibe without the snooty, hipster-y environment that some places have - gorgeous blue glass chandelier in the middle of the room that brought some color and fun to the place Honestly had a wonderful experience here and can't complain much. Besides the chandelier the place is pretty monotone and plain (white walls, black wood seating), maybe in the future they will have some art on the walls. It got pretty lively around 9:30am so the only complaint you might have is finding a table once the secret is out that SSC is awesome. read more

My co-worker and I were looking for a new coffee shop to try around our office. We were tired of Starbucks and the quality of Met Market's coffee has gone down in the recent months. I stumbled across Seattle Sunshine Coffee while perusing Yelp! And I'm so glad we did. The simple modern industrial design was refreshing. How many coffee shops do you know have an awesome glass sculpture hanging from the ceiling!? The coffee was divine. The espresso didn't taste burnt, the milk was velvety, and they add the perfect amount of syrup for a hint of sweetness. I'm on a mission to try out new cafes, and decided to check out this place. This cafe is located in Bryant neighborhood, which is nice because it's away from crowded areas. There is plenty of free street parking. This place is a lot more spacious inside than it looks from the outside. There's plenty of seating for customers, both solo and in groups. It does get noisy, like most yelpers have pointed out due to the bigger tables on the bottom floor, but luckily, there's a quieter upstairs area where you can study or work. The crowd seems geared toward college students, which shouldn't be too surprising since it's a few minutes away from UW campus. Although this place seems to be getting busier, I'd likely come back here. The mocha I ordered was the perfect cup of coffee I was craving. The barista was super friendly, and service was pretty fast for a busy place. read more

Customer service was excellent Shot pulled for my Americano excellent --they use La Marzocco, a top ranking espresso machine. This feature is something I always consider when scoping out a new cafe. For me, it produces the best shots. Layout and ambiance was really vibing me. The treat selection was prime --they carried gluten free items for those gluten free patrons (nuflour bakery). This is our absolute favorite coffee shop in the neighborhood. We have come here so many times that we lost track. Seriously, every coffee drink is great! Our favorites are the cortado, iced or hot latte (so rich and flavorful!), and any flavored seasonal latte. Such a great place to chill and study, too. I find that the hot chocolate at most cafes taste like dark chocolate/bitter, but this hot chocolate was sweeter and more milk chocolate tasting, just the way I like it. Seattle Sunshine is my new favourite coffee shop to work in. I feel like a total fraud saying this, since I've said this about quite a few other coffee shops in the past, but... I think this is *the one*. The space is huge, the coffee is great, they even sell Mighty-O Donuts, the bathroom is a *single-use* one, and they have one outlet next to *every* table. A mind-blowing fact is, the owners themselves made the beautiful Chihuly-like chandelier that graces the top area (yes, there's an upper room, what-the-heck-is-this-a-cafe-or-a-mansion?). But the best part? The location. Being more than a mile from U-District, the crowd here is very non-undergraduate. So the people that come here are there to _actually_ get work done or just catch up _quietly_ with old friends. Looking at you, Cafe on the Ave/Allegro/Sureshot. I came here, wrote good code, while my boyfriend got a good proof for his paper. Hats off to the thought put into designing this space. Every bit of it is so well thought out. So this place has a mezzanine with a Chihuly chandelier. I mean, come on, who doesn't like that? I recommend the bacon cheese biscuit, toasted. Coffee is great. I had the drip and a mocha on two separate occasions. I've been working remotely and looking for a great place to work. The internet connection is okay and no time limit. This place is it. The music ain't too loud, the temperature ain't too cold. The mezzanine level is pretty quiet for a coffee shop. It's close to where I'm staying. Seriously, this place is hard to beat. I been to Zokkas, Top Pot, Starbuck's, and Grateful Bread for comparison and I like Seattle Sunshine Coffee the best. Zokkas has great coffee, but not much selection for food. Also, I think internet is on a 3 hour limit. Top Pot on 35th, the coffee is great (may be the best?) of course has donuts and ice cream, but the keep their seating area very cold. U-village Starbuck's is just really too busy and noisy and the coffee is pretty well y'know what to expect. Grateful Bread (across from Top Pot) still doesn't have their inside seating open yet (only their enclosed porch is open) but has great food (bagels yumm!) and coffee. read more

Cute coffee shop! There is ample natural lighting with a gorgeous chandelier to look at. I came on a Saturday afternoon in the summer and there was plenty of seating upstairs and downstairs. Definitely a very spacious environment to catch up with a friend or do some work at. The location is nice because it's still close to University Village and UW but there's not as crowded.
