Honestly, Secreto is one of those places that just gets it right. From the moment we walked in, the vibe was warm and inviting -- upscale but still comfortable, not stuffy at all. Perfect for a date night or a nice dinner without feeling over the top. The food was excellent across the board. Everything we ordered was full of flavor and clearly made with care. Nothing felt rushed or thrown together -- you can tell there's real attention coming out of the kitchen. Service was great too. Friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable without hovering. We never had to flag anyone down, and everything came out at a really good pace. Drinks were solid, atmosphere was on point, and overall it was just a really enjoyable night out. We were a group of 4 on Saturday night having more expectations of the place based on reviews , unfortunately the service was over rush and the food was mediocre and very expensive the appetizer shrimps croquettes was 22$ ridiculous for two small croquettes $11 each !!! Secreto recently moved from right across the street from where I used to live to a new location in South Miami, so of course I had to check it out. The space is definitely an upgrade and beautifully decorated, much more spacious, and it gives off cozy date night vibes. The menu hasn't changed much, but they did have a few specials of the day of which we tried. We tried the croqettes (a special of the day), and it was very tasty. Pear pasta is always my go to when it's offered on the menu and while I remembered this particular dish being slightly better before, I think it might've worked better with a white sauce instead of the pink they used this time. Overall though, the service was amazing per usual, and the new location feels like the perfect spot to enjoy classic Italian comfort food in a more elevated setting. read more

We have been coming here for many many years and this restaurant never disappoints. Now at its new location Secreto restaurant is elegant and classy. It offers a full bar for when you just want a drink or wait for your table... it has very friendly staff and a service that is rare in south Florida. All staff members are knowledgeable and ready to help. The quality of their food and the menu they have created offers a variety of dishes for every palate. Their subtle changes to original recipes is balanced and it doesn't compromise the integrity of the dishes. I think what I like the most about coming to Secreto is the fact that their daily specials are so good I actually never even look at the menu. We started out with the Gorgonzola Portabello - Delicious, followed by the Secreto salad- it was a little too much lemon and Truffle for me but my friend loved it! Main Course - Pesto Risotto with Shrimp was perfect! Dessert was light and tasty... if you're on the full side and just want a small bite with a hint of sweetness then the strawberries and some sort of mousse will suffice The pizza oven was not working g at this time since they are still in the "opening phase" and the wine list isn't huge... The pasta is always cooked to perfection and their wine selection never disappoints. I have celebrated serval special occasions here like Father's Day, anniversaries and birthdays. Everyone in their staff works together to give you the best experience including the chef, they truly make you feel special. This restaurant gives a romantic and intimate ambiance. Depending on the holiday they tend to have live music, one year on Valentine's Day they had a violinist which was a very nice touch. They also fill up pretty quickly, so I recommend reserving a table in advance. Dishes I have tried: Fig Ravioli: salty meets sweet, my number one choice. Fiochetti: cheesy, sweet and savory. Pear filled pasta with vodka sauce. This was wonderful, walking in it's a great ambiance and had mood lighting, straight away the menu was nothing special, I enjoyed the specials the most so I recommend asking. We started off with a pearl martini which is a lychee cocktail, that was delightful. I had the guavayita which is basically a guava margarita, which was also very good. For appetizers we had the lobster croquetas which I definitely recommend getting and the yellow-fish tuna (special) which was fresh and savory. For main I had the filet migon with a champagne risotto which was amazing and a little overcooked but amazing nonetheless, I also tried the rib eye which was limey and super flavorful and I tried the Hallandale fish (specials) with mashed potatoes which were amazing. For dessert I had the guayana pastry with ice cream, the cheesecake and the creme brulee which were all really fantastic. Overall the service was great , and the food was really good. Came here on a recommendation from a friend . They started us off with delicious fresh bread with an olive oil and balsamic dipping sauce. We then had the burrata with blueberry appetizer special . Not your typical combo but yummy. I had the fettuccine with shrimp in a bread bowl- omg. I ate it all !!! Amazingly delicious. My friends both enjoyed their risotto and fiochetti. Secreto is a hidden gem in a Kendall strip mall. Ambience is a gently lit dining room with white clothed tables surrounded by walls covered in eclectic art. Saturday night was busy, but we had reservations which are recommended. Upon being seated, bread and an olive oil dip was brought to the table along with water with or without bubbles (I love this). The bread was not the best choice for an olive oil dip; a crusty baguette would have taken this review to a 5 star (seriously, bread composition is not to be taken lightly). The real shine to this little gem is the food and service. Appetizer of 5 cheese croquettes on top of a tasty guava sauce was super tiny (just 4 breaded cheese balls the size of half a golf ball), but the flavor explosion was intense. I highly recommend you try these. The corvina and shrimp ceviche appetizer was very good and big enough for 4 to enjoy. Another appetizer that I recommend. For the entrees we selected the branzino and the filet mignon specials. My sautéed brazino with capers in lemon sauce on top of capellini (my request, the special was served with mushroom risotto) was sooo good, I'm thinking this was the best dish I've had in a long time. The fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The pasta was incredible: all dente but with crispy edges (what? So awesomely good!). My hubby said his filet mignon was outstanding. The presentation was very pretty, actually; a cute medium Rare filet resting on a little hill of mash and asparagus. For dessert we opted for the crème brûlée (winner!) and the ice cream topped guava pastry ( which was ok but didn't wow). The service was top notch. The servers were professional and on the ball. We were excited to visit the restaurant in its new loc. The space is very nice, the atmosphere was a bit loud, we could hear the couple's conversation next to us. The service was excellent, attentive and welcoming. Unfortunately, the food has not kept up with the same standard. My mashed potatoes arrived cold, and my friend's risotto was bland and disappointing. I truly hope the kitchen can return to the quality we have enjoyed in the past. This restaurant is nestled in a small strip mall and is very small but it makes up in the excellent service and cuisine. They have a Osso Bucco appetizer that they make with the shredded meat over tostones and covered in a dark wine based sauce that is not only unique but delicious. The Shrimp Scampi is a dish that you want to have. Unfortunately they will be closed for a few weeks while they move locations to South Miami to a larger space. This venue is very intimate and romantic. If you don't mind paying higher than usual prices, this place is a must. The service is impeccable and prompt. I can eat here everyday and never get tired of it. This place is scrumptious. I absolutely am in love here. It's so close to home in a small plaza with an intimate setting. Its dimly lit and the menu although not large has some serious flavor. And the daily specials not listed on the menu will make your mouth drool. My family and I came for my birthday and I had been craving a simple dish of shrimp in a vodka sauce. There was nothing simple about my dish. It was delicious flavors dancing in my mouth. The sauce was life, the shrimp seasoned and grilled to perfection and the pasta was tender. If I was home I would've gladly licked the plate. No effs given. Let me get back to the beginning though. Our waiter was perfect eye candy for me and totally attentive. We had made reservations which I highly recommend to do so as the place was completely full within 10 minutes of opening. They started us off with complimentary warm bread with EVOO and red wine vinegar. The EVOO was so good I dipped the bread just in that alone. We ordered 2 bottled of red and it went fabulous with our starters and meals. We had the crab cake appetizer which over flowed with crab and a lobster croquetta. Our main dishes were mother had the brown sugar coated salmon ( one of their daily specials) brother had the veal marsala, and stepdad had the salmon with fettuccine. Noone spoke at our table till our dishes were completely done. All of us cleaned our plates. There was nothing more we could eat. These flavors have me feening for more. So now I'm ruined because now I must eat here a couple times a month to satisfy my craving. Come here and try some Italian with spanish influence dishes that will too feen for more! read more

Let's begin with the positive and the reason I gave them two stars instead of one. The new location is a good choice - still in a shopping strip, but much nicer location in SoMi. They have done a great job with the decor, nicely set tables with white tableclothes. Also they now have a full bar, which is always a plus. The service was generally good, although our server seemed rushed and a bit arrogant. Now for the negative - the food: First of all, the bread! Why change from crusty Italian bread to cold mushy dinner rolls?! We were perplexed to see this, especially since they make a point of pouring OVOO and balsamic vinegar for dipping. Following this, we ordered the appetizer Caprese salad, which is comprised of tomato with mozzarella cheese, drizzled with pesto and basil leaves. This dish would've been delicious if it had been prepared at the time we ordered it; however, it was clearly prepared ahead of time therefore, the tomatoes were runny and soggy , which made everything else mushy. For our entrées, my husband had the chicken Cordon Bleu against my advice. It was a complete disaster and probably the type of food you would get served on an airplane flight. I don't even know where to begin. It was soggy with sauce on top of it, I didn't even see the cheese or the prosciutto that was supposed to be inside of it. My entrée was the veal Marsala, which was a little bit better than my husband's entrée. However, the veal was hard and the sauce tasted like it was prepared ahead of time and just poured over the veal. Both entrées were accompanied by cold mashed potatoes and vegetables. The vegetables were the worst I have ever had - soggy and colorless with a strange acidic taste. The best part of the meal was the crème brûlée dessert. We were so disappointed as we were hoping their food would continue to be as good as it was in the Kendall location. However, unfortunately it certainly was not. I would suggest the restaurant takes a good look at the negative reviews and considers them as much as they seem to acknowledge the positive ones. There were many empty tables at 8;30 pm and beyond on Saturday, August 30th, so that speaks volumes. We will not return. read more
