Love this place! The women that work there are super sweet and helpful with their suggestions. I usually don't come here all the time, but when I do, my experience is always great. Their chocolates are to perfection! Haven't had a bad one ever! And I came on Valentine's day too, I was expecting this place to be super busy and for them to take forever, but it actually took less time than I thought and there was a little line too! This review is NOT about the quality of the chocolate/candy. This review is about the quality of their service. I stopped by on Thursday, September 17th, 2015 at around 6:15 pm. The first thing I noticed was that their floor was filthy. There were only two people ahead of me getting their chocolates. When we got there, there was only one clerk available, but after a couple of minutes, another one showed. Anyway, the clerk who helped me was an older woman with glasses, on the shorter side, with a tongue ring. This woman offered the two people ahead of me Kona mocha chocolates, when it was my turn, she offered me the raspberry chocolate. I told her that I really didn't like raspberry and she gave me a dirty look, a deep sigh, and said, "oh well". Are you kidding? Anyway, I started asking for what I wanted and trusted that she was giving me what I was asking for, when I got home, I noticed that she had given me stuff that I did NOT ask for. I wanted dark and light chocolate with almonds, she gave me WALNUTS instead. I'm sure they label their boxes, so it was NOT a mistake. Wtf? I also asked for the chocolate with marshmallows and lo and behold, I didn't get any. So to make a long story short, she gave me 3/4 of a pound of chocolates with walnuts, and a quarter of a pound with stuff I actually wanted. Their pound of chocolate is 18 bucks, by the way, so it's not cheap. You may say, "hey, you got See's candy anyway" but it's the principle of the thing, I paid to get specific chocolates, if I wanted to get random chocolates, I would have just grabbed a pre-packaged box. I'll avoid this place from now on; I'd rather make the drive all the way to Brea mall, at least they're always friendly there. read more

It's Easter week. Get your act together! Get there at 10:00 and it's really crowded as expected. Squeeze thru crowd to gather items and get in line to pay. Only one register because one is not working at all. The dude is adding by hand on paper. I get helped but he tells me they can't take my coupon because he has no way to scan it. So I assume the other register can do it, but no the whole system is.having a problem. No suggestions of wtf I'm supposed to do. As I start to walk out they offer me $5 in merchandise,. I'm already buying 35 bucks worth, so why can't they just give me $5 of what I'm already buying free? Coupon required $25 purchase. No offer of when system would be fixed. They don't care if people walk out or ever come back. read more

I typically love going into See's Candies for a nice treat, so this day was just absolutely disappointing and kind of a shock. We got to the counter to make my mom a box of chocolates for Mother's Day, the lady who served us was terribly rude. We told her that we wanted one pound of white chocolates with no peanuts in them cause my mom is allergic to cocoa and peanuts, but still enjoys your chocolates. She said she didn't have much of that to offer so suggested we make a 1/2 pound box. We said no, we want a one pound box and it was fine if there were repeats. She makes the box, and still makes a 1/2 pound box. We told her again we want a full pound and she looked visible annoyed and upset because she had to do it again. She was rude the whole time, didn't even talk to us, and never offered us samples. She did however offer samples to everyone that she served before us. The whole time spent there, she did not look at us and would start yelling at employees and other costumers to chime into what they were ordering. She was terrible to us and completely ruined my first mother's day. My husband also wanted to get me some treats since it was my first Mother's Day, but with such a poor experience and lack of customer service, all we wanted to do leave as to not deal with her anymore. read more

Three years ago I visited this location to buy my wife chocolate covered strawberries. I was racially discriminated against by the cashier. I was asked to show an ID for my purchase. Normally, this would not have been an issue but before I paid three older white women in the 70s or possibly older paid for their purchase without the cashier asking them for any identification. When I brought this up to to the cashier she just shrugged and said, "store policy". This is not the first instance that my family and I have been racially discriminated against by See's Candies and their employees. In the late 90s, I visited a Sees location in Downey and we were denied samples even after the employee had just offered an older white woman some. This is an unapologetically racist company with a culture of racial discrimination from top to bottom. Their racist attitudes make it all the way down to their store floor employees. After the last credit ID fiasco, I contacted corporate directly by email. They didn't even care to acknowledge my email which is why I have taken to yelp after so many years. This is the only way to right the racist attitudes that pervade Sees Candies and their employees. I have not stepped foot in another Sees ever since and I would suggest if you are minority you stay away from this place like the plague unless being racially discriminated doesn't bother you. read more

I just walked into this location and walked in with my service dog. I have SEVERE PTSD, and my service dog goes everywhere with me. Is soon as I walked in she ask in a very rude tone "Is that a service dog?" And I replied with "yes it is" and she laughed at me and all she said was "ok" in a very sarcastic and drawn out way. I then offered to show my documentation for my service dog and she persisted with the chuckles, I walked out and she was continuing her laughs as I walked out of the store. This was a trigger for me for what I have been through and hard, some people simple don't get it, but when a store hires someone, I have faith I'll walk into a place, usually get asked about the status of my dog (which I am perfectly fine with answering) and then go about my way, the way in which this lady carried out herself and the reputation of See's Candy is disposable and heart wrenching, you never know why someone has a service dog or what someone has been through regardless of the fact they have a dog or not. I was very impressed with the customer service of April. She was really friendly and made me feel welcome. Getting free samples didn't hurt.

Not sure what their names were but went in a couple of months ago and had 3 of the most charming and sweeties ladies assist me. These 3 older ladies made by little shopping experience memorable. read more

Highly disappointed! I was the 7th person in line and I waited 35 min because Sees had unskilled staff behind the counter on the heaviest holiday season. I bought 3 boxes of 3 different milk chocolates in each. When I was paying I asked the clerk "how can I tell which chocolates are in which box? She looked at me puzzled and said "you'd have to open the box. I said "I'd have to unwrap each one and rewear" oh I was so upset!!!! read more

I was putting together baskets for my friends wedding (out of town guests) and thought See's would be a nice addition. I called and spoke to AnnMarie. She was informative, very helpful and took her time with me. I settled and what I needed and came in later that week. I walked up to the counter and the woman helping me said I remember you we spoke on the phone. It ended up being AnnMarie who assisted me with my order. She was fantastic! Helped with questions and wrapped the chocolates with care and detail. She made my experience easy and fun! I appreciate her sunny attitude and friendliness. I love See's candy and being that I live less than 2 miles away The Whittwood is the cornerstone of my world and I'm so happy that ever time I come here I have a great experience. Today is Xmas Eve! I thought I would get an early start to beat the lines. I did at Costco then my next stop at 10:10am was See's Candies in Whittier. Too late! there were already 2 lines forming. I was greeted by this wonderful young man by the name of Andrew Young. He was handing out a free sample of Eggnog truffles to customers as they walked in. He has the best customer service, is a wonderful awesome employee. His personality was just amazing! I did not even notice how long I was in line because Andrew made it entertaining for the customers as we were waiting in line or shopping! It was hilarious to see him greet customers as they came in because he was so cheerful and everyone loved seeing the customers reaction! Thank you Andrew, Happy Holidays and best of luck! read more
