    Special menu item, Salmon

A hidden gem in the town of Kanab. Located inside of a hotel lobby. A Asian and American fusion style restaurant. Similar to Spanish tapas style, small plates for share. Services were attentive and friendly. Time to serve is slower than typical, but they did emphasis that they want you to enjoy conversations and time spent with each others. Foods are really tasty but on the expensive side, since the plates are smaller portion than typical. Highly recommend it.

Great Selection Of Small Plates..... While in Kanab for 5 days to visit the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and some national parks, we needed a supply of places for dinner. Sego was our first stop and our last one on the 5th day. - Overall: 5 - Location: 5 - Exterior: 4 - Ambiance: 5 in the Sunroom...4 for the rest - Menu: 5 - Food Quality: 5 - Food Portion: 5 - Service: 5 - Price and Value: 4 - Parking: 4 - Location: In the northern part of Kanab inside the Canyons Hotel off the main north-south road. - Exterior: The hotel seemed fairly new so Sego is probably the same. - Ambiance: A casual yet nice restaurant. There's a fairly large darkish area to the right when you walk in and a smaller "sunroom" to the right. Some people were also outside on the patio. - Menu: A good sized variety of "small plates" to share including fish, meat and vegetables. Note: They only give one printed copy for every 2 people. - Food: Creative, tasty and good portions. On our first visit, we shared 4 dishes: - Cantonese Shrimp and vegetables ($19): We'd order it again - Spinach salad with berries ($13): We'd order it again - Grilled cheese ($13): Very good, but we'd try something else - Wok tossed broccolini ($10): Very good, but a bit too spicy for us On our 2nd visit, we shared: - Cantonese Shrimp ($19): As promised, we ordered it again - Utah Trout ($29): Big portion of fish and vegetables. Tasty! - Cauliflower ($13): A seared version and lots of it - Potatoes ($7): Roasted. Excellent. For dessert, we each had a scoop of sorbet with a small cookie ($5 each). Both times. For drinks, I had a draft beer ($6) and my wife had 2 small glasses of chardonnay ($11 each). Both times. - Service: Derek, our server, was friendly and helpful. Both times (in different sections). - Price and Value: Reasonable. The first visit, our total before tax and tip was $93. The 2nd visit, our total was $97. Not cheap, but we ate a lot. - Parking: Fairly easy. Little problem finding a space by the hotel/Sego or across the street. Sego is a very respectable choice for dinner. Of our 5 nights in Kanab, this was the only restaurant we returned to.....even though the other 3 places were great in their own way.

    Pork belly with watermelon

This restaurant recommends all food is shareable. We ordered beet salad, Mee Goren and pork belly with watermelon. All items were good taste. Servers were helpful.

Surprisingly nice flavors. Love the ribs the most, the broccolini and the shrimp are also great. The goat cheese flavor is a little too strong and covers the flavor of the mushrooms on the toast. But overall a very nice experience.

This place was amazing. Its attached to a hotel so its easy to miss. As soon as you walk in you're greeted by the nicest hostess. Recommend to call ahead as they take reservations. The place gets busy. We had the shrimp fried rice. It had a little kick to it but it was perfect. The brocollini as well had a small kick but was delish. The AZ Fillet was aamaaazzing, so much flavor and cooked perfectly. We had the bread pudding and pistachio ice cream with the pandan shortbread cookie and was also amazing. The only problem i had is there wasn't enough portion we ate everything till the last bite! Highly recommend. We will be coming here everytime we come to kanab!!

Artichoke and foraged mushroom toast. This is the half portion. Great flavor.

We stayed at Canyons Boutique and enjoyed a dinner at Sego. Great flavors. Intimate setting.

Could be the most annoying table I have sat at in a long while

First off the food is amazing, the chef has curated a great menu with a lot of varied tastes. I usually eat here 3-4 times a year while visiting Kanab. That said the service was lacking enough that it makes me not want to return and explore other options in Kanab. I made a reservation for 5pm and noted it was for my wifes birthday. We were the first party seated, the only party there at 5. For some reason they stuck us this cramped corner table where you are at a 90 degree angle to the other person you are sitting at which makes conversation awkward. When I am sitting with someone either sit me next to them or across from them. Looking at an empty restaurant I made a light hearted comment to the waiter thinking she would offer to move me. Nope, she doubled down and said it was the best table in the restaurant, I could see everyone coming in. Unfortunately, the only person I wanted to see was my wife of 24 years, on as previously stated her birthday. We started with the charcuterie board which I would highly recommend, it is my favorite dish they serve, well thought out and the flavors balance beautifully. The waiter asked if we would like it served first separately which was appreciated. Unfortunately, it set a precedent for the rest of the meal. Each dish was fired and served separately (beet salad, ribs and foraged mushrooms). I can't imagine that it was the chef's desire when he designed the menu that each dish stand on its own instead of as a part of a meal of eclectic flavors that blend together. That is one of the benefits of serving food in a tapas style, you have a bite of this plate and a bite of that plate. Also, the choice of serving everything on its own put in some awkward pauses in the meal where there was no food and no server in sight. She was nice when she was there, it just wasn't very often. We decided to end the meal with the banana bread pudding which was fantastic. unfortunately, 30 seconds after one server dropped the desert our waiter showed up with the bill, giving the impression that she wanted to get rid of us as soon as possible. I really did not appreciate being rushed out the door. I have had several meals at Sego that were fabulous, this unfortunately was not one of them.

New American restaurant with influences from what seemed like Vietnamese, Japanese, Chinese, Italian, maybe French and more! All kinds of fun stuff here done in unique ways. Glad we had a reservation as this place filled up very quickly. Dim lighting, fireplace and glass decor made for a fancy cozy ambiance. Servers were all very attentive and helpful. Restroom available around the staircase. Food - everything was so good!!! Felt like a fine dining experience. I like how they offer Half/Full sizes depending on how many you're sharing with. A place meant for sharing dishes. Satay - chicken skewers were juicy and I found myself not even needing sauce. Wok brocollini - reminds me of Chinese brocolli at dim sum restaurants but lots of flavor. The fermented beans were a nice tasty touch. Street style tofu - lots of very fresh bean spouts on top with a really delicious sauce. Tofu tasted fresh. Pork dan Dan noodles - personally my least favorite dish as the meat texture and taste was just odd to me. Honey agave ice cream came with a little purple cookie maybe a shortbread type. Small scoop for the price. Maybe because I ate the chocolate cake right before but I didn't really taste honey or agave and much just like a delicate sweet ice cream. It was tasty but wish it was a bit of a bigger scoop. It's a very small mini scoop size. Did not expect such a lovely fine-dining like experience in Kanab! Definitely would return. Of 3 restaurants I visited here, this was my favorite!

    Table for one.

There's a reason this place is so busy. It's fantastic. Will got me in as a single on a busy Wednesday night. I'm forever grateful. The drink was perfect, the food amazing and the Chiluly inspired glass everywhere is a nice touch. I went with the corn fritters and AZ beef filet. Based on reviews and yes a solid choice. I would've made a reservation for the next night but they are closed on Thursdays. Definitely a place to eat in Kanab.

If we book a reservation for late May where would you recommend we sit...inside or outside?

I am not sure about the weather in summer there but I quite like the ambiance inside so I will recommend inside.

Is it affordable ? Or more pricey? We'd like in between, if that helps. But if the food is a delicious as they say, I guess we'd be happy

It's pricey but very tasty. Go with the beet salad if they still have it and the wings and ribs. Those 3 were amazing. Also the forraged mushroom on some type is crust ini bread. Don't have the broccoli and the noodles with duck were just ok.

    Does Sego do takeout orders?

Yes we do! Our hours are 5pm to 9pm. We will also be offering takeout for thanksgiving. 4pm to 8pm (this will be a special menu for that day)

Can we bring our dog if we sit outside?

Our two chocolate labs would have been too disruptive, but at the table next to us was a couple who had a much calmer chocolate that lay quietly at their feet during their meal. So yes, they allow dogs on the patio.

The guy at the register was helpful in a genuine way- poor dude is sporting a shoulder injury, but didn't slow him down. I got the Cuban steak plate with the grilled onions, which was amazing! The tres leches is beyond amazing though! It's soaked, but not soggy with cinnamon on top. I got it to go and gave my boyfriend exactly one bite then claimed it all for myself. They also have a pay it forward wall where you can give an amount of money for people experiencing a hard time. While I was there someone came in asking to wash dishes for some food and the register guy made sure he saw the cards and got fed. That is something special for this business to not only not look over those in need, but go out of their way to take care of them. It really says a lot about the kindness of owners and employees.

I didn't expect to see Cuban food in the middle of Utah, yet here we are. Grab a menu from the counter and have a seat or just order. Between the four of us we had: 1. Cuban Pork plate - tender pieces of roasted pork with rice and black beans. 2. The Smothered Burrito - a stuffed burrito covered with cheats sauce. My buddy had this and ate it heartily. The only comment I received from him was that it was very good. 3. Steak sandwiches- Slices of tender sirloin steak, wrapped in deliciousness. 4. I had the double western cheese burger. Two patties, cheese, bacon and an onion ring. It was very good but a little over cooked for me. All in all we enjoyed the location, the service was very helpful and attentive.
