I've been using Yelp for almost 20 years. So weigh my words by my other reviews. DO NOT USE SEKA MOVERS. Read this carefully before risking your safety and belongings. 1. Seka's Broken Promises Seka explicitly advertises that they "do not outsource or broker out any jobs to other moving companies" (from their own Yelp page). They promise "50+ Trained Crews" that are "Background Checked" and claim "We're not a national chain sending random crews to different jobs." They violated every one of these promises. 2. What Actually Happened After spending over 90 minutes in detailed pre-move preparation with Seka Movers--measuring every piece of furniture, discussing our heavy designer Italian furniture (some pieces worth $5,000+), arranging for 4 movers, and paying for specific services--they sent a subcontractor to perform our move, not their own trained, background-checked employees as advertised. The problems escalated immediately: 3. BAIT-AND-SWITCH: We agreed to pay Seka $3,000 with a guaranteed price The subcontractor's workers acted shocked at the scope (despite our detailed planning) and demanded $3,500 paid to them directly 4. SAFETY CRISIS: One of three workers arrived intoxicated--I could smell alcohol on his breath in the morning. By midday, the smell was stronger. When confronted, his coworker admitted he could now smell it too because the drunk worker was sweating. The drunk worker falsely claimed to be the foreman (he was not) He passed out on our front lawn DURING the move (video documented) - and this was actually progress! because he could no longer damage our belongings or harass us. Seka was provided this video evidence, acknowledged passing it along via email. And, has taken no meaningful action. (See below!) 5. EXTORTION ATTEMPT: After we'd already paid Seka $3,000 in full (bank notification received), workers demanded we pay their company directly or they wouldn't unload our belongings The drunk worker got in our faces, yelling threats to abandon the job with our belongings in their truck We feared we might need to call police. 6. SERVICE FAILURES: Sent only 3 workers instead of the 4 we contracted and paid for. It was in the document we had to sign repeatedly on the day! We paid a service fee for disconnecting our washer/dryer but I was made to do it myself Refused to complete the agreed-upon work: the drunk worker refused to do a second trip despite 5-minute distance. His co-workers folder. So we have many items left to move that were in the estimate! Multiple items damaged: ripped leather sofa, dropped cabinet (photo taken), various nicks and dents The drunk worker bragged about the "white glove service" we were getting while blasting music - after harassing us. They rammed into our fence while parking - photo taken! 7. COMPANY ACCOUNTABILITY: ZERO Hey, who hasn't broken a core promise of their business and sent a drunk subcontractor to be hostile to a customer? But it takes real finesse to then pretend it never happened. We spoke with Seka's people repeatedly throughout this crisis. Starting with a man and then ending with a woman who, perhaps, negotiated the liberation of our belongings with the apparent manager of the crew that was sent. (A manager who I managed to speak to using one of the worker's phones only to learn he did not care that one of his workers was drunk!) Seka's only response during crisis: "working it out". Repeatedly I told them not to make a move that would endanger our safety or that of our belongings. We agreed that we would talk about it afterwards. We exchanged emails and text messages to talk about it after the weekend. Did they call us? Did they reply to our emails? Did they text us? No. No follow-up, no resolution, no accountability 8. Bottom Line Seka Movers falsely advertises that they don't outsource work and use only their own trained, background-checked crews. They broke this promise by sending a subcontractor with a worker who arrived drunk (alcohol on breath confirmed in morning), got progressively more intoxicated throughout the day, passed out during our move, attempted extortion, threatened to hold our belongings hostage, caused property damage, and failed to provide contracted services. Seka is now ghosting us entirely rather than taking responsibility for the dangerous, unprofessional crew they sent to our home. This is false advertising. This is breach of contract. This is a safety hazard. You are risking your safety, your belongings, and your money. read more

I hired them in December of 2021, They came to my home, took photos of everything and asked me the size of the home, which was 3240 SF.. When they showed up they didn't bring a truck that was large enough and then I found out they only had my home at 2200 SF.. This was not enough room for approximately a 1 car garage that was fully packed. They had given me a flat rate of $11,000 to move from ************* ********** to ********* **********. On the day of the move it was the same day of their company holiday party. They stopped in the middle of the loading the truck to go to their party, This was a great opportunity to exchange trucks with one large enough for the move, but they refused. I was forced to leave behind $1000'S in personal belongings. I had no other options because I had to be out of the home by 8:00 A.M. the next morning. By the time they returned after their holiday party, they did not finish loading what they could until after 1:00 A.M. in the morning. They were so far behind in the move they stopped wrapping the furnishings in blankets and so many items were destroyed. ****** claim department, is a joke. The photo attached is just 1 of many items severely damaged, They are not professionals in any way. They refused to settle with me for even the $.60 a lb., per federal law. They told me they could not decide whether to offer me either $50 or $150 as a insurance claim. WHAT A JOKE. I ended up taking them to small claims court and I won, but the *** of the company has refused to pay the judgement and I have had to fly back and forth from ********** to ********** now twice and the expenses are just piling up. The judge told me on the last hearing that as soon as I serve him she will issue a bench warrant for his arrest. They did file a document with the court claiming they are a family owned business, claiming they cannot afford to pay the judgement. If you look at their Website, They brag how big they are, and how fast they grown into a million dollar company.I cannot express enough to stay clear of this crooked company. I suggest prior to hiring to look them up on the BBB, they have 14 complaints in the past 12 months alone as of 3/26/2024. They are REALLY BAD PEOPLE. read more

I'm moving my family from LA to NJ for work. The images in the SEKA website and SEKA Yelp of uniformed employees, including the phrase on Yelp's images of "Always Uniformed", are not accurate. Movers wore gym attire with no SEKA branding. Google Search Results lists SEO badging for "always wears masks" and Yelp images shows booties, while the movers more neither masks nor booties. The packing supplies brought by the mover lacked bubble wrap, foam, and 4 reusable wardrobe bins. The movers said they would pack our china with paper, and repeatedly said bubble wrap is not necessary. The 3 movers stated their moving experience as each 1.5 yrs, 6mo, 6mo. I asked the lead mover (1.5 yrs exp) about how the deposit worked. He asked me if I want them to leave. I said I'm interested; I don't feel comfortable with this company; but I want to understand the deposit. He made a phone call and said someone would call me and then he left. I then received a What's App and phone call from Egypt, where my SEKA point of contact is visiting. After telling what happened, she said something like -- no problem, full refund, we're not that type of company; I'll take care of it. Customer Service Manager (CSM) called me later and said my point of contact isn't in charge of anything and can't make those decisions. CSM offered to send a different, more professional crew the next day, with proper supplies. I declined services for the next day. CSM said SEKA will keep my deposit. -- Best of luck, Sam. I am confident that you have a rapidly growing business, and I hope this feedback can help you grow even further. Here's what happened: A different moving company arrived at our house, saw how much work there was to be done & then got in their truck and left. The movers were very professional and extremely helpful. They arrived within the time stated. I wasn't quite completed with the packing but they pitched right in and assisted me--taping boxes, etc. They took the dining table and beds apart and put them back together as needed. Moving from LA to NYC is no walk-in-the-park EXCEPT when you are using Seka LA. The experience was extraordinary from the time we met the project Manager Barbara through the quote process to the packing and unloading. We got three quotes, none of them compared to Seka. Only Seka took our belongings from Cali directly to NYC! Our belongings arrived in excellent condition! if I could give them zero stars I would. They moved a few rooms of furniture and boxes from Los Angeles to Dallas. They picked it up with three guys from a storage space and those three guys struggled with weigh of some of the pieces. When it arrived in Dallas there was one mover from Seka and the truck driver to move all these items into the house and up stairs. This was a minimum three guy job, and not the truck driver who did not want to move one thing. My daughter ended up helping the mover move most of the items. The idiot truck driver and the mover scratched newly installed hardwood floors in multiple places, dented newly painted walls and ruined a $5,000 piece of furniture. they also delivered on Sunday Father's Day which I was specifically told they would not deliver in sundays. I called to complain, they lied and said they would have their claims department call, they are ignoring my calls, they are awful DO NOT use them! read more
