I came for dinner. I thought the food was good, but for a Nicaraguan joint in Little Havana, I felt that their prices are a bit too high. My churrasco was $17.07 including tax and without a drink, and the portions did not impress me - a big portion of sides and a small churrasco. The sides were only okay and the service was not too great. It seems like they're basing their prices off of a bigger Nicaraguan chain - Los Ranchos maybe? Even though they don't have anything much to show off. In Little Havana, where there's a lot of Nicaraguan places, a good churrasco is not hard to find, and for half the price too. I'll give this one a pass until more reviews come in to convince me that there's something else about this place that I'm missing. Free parking in the back. read more

A hole in the wall which is characteristically for me a sign of good food in the Little Havana area. The decor is very nice. The waitress was kind but the only good thing were the White Sangria, Margarita and Queso Fondue. Burger tasted and looked microwaved. The Yuca was hard and dry. Overly seasoned short ribs, steak, chicken AND tomatoes. The refried beans looked and tasted like they were sitting out for a while- dry crusty beans on edges and top of plate. And it looks like the rice was cooked with the dried out bean sauce. I would have taken more pictures but I was disgusted and asked for the check. $80! Don't waste your money here. There are other Nicaraguan places in the area that are better for the same price. I just ordered food from Uber eats to pick up. I thought that because the app doesn't really give you options to choose the only 2 juices, that I would be able to tell then what I wanted upon arrival. The lady gave me attitude when I asked her to change the 2 random drinks she went to hand me. She changed them for me, for what was what I thought I had asked for, but when I got home, the passion flavor juice tasted like watered down Tang. Not worth $4 per juice at all. I have been to this place like 6 times. Every time I come there is something wrong with my food. Today was the last time I came here. When I asked for a fillet mignon medium. when it came it was well done. I sent it back. It came completely raw. I sent it back again and it came completely burnt. I told the lady to forget about it That I did not wanTed it anymore and this guy came out of nowhere with an attitude saying "if she wants another one she needs to wait" I told the waitress and who is this? He's very disrespectful he left laughing and that's when I ask for my check. I was celebrating my stepmother's birthday and couldn't even sing happy birthday to her. When you go please ask for the appetizer with all the mixes you won't go wrong they give you alittle of mostly everything they have and it is enough for 2 hungry people the meats are fresh and the sides are plenty full service isn't always number one but it makes it up with the food when I go I always ask for ariela she is great if she not there well I might not go but that is my personal touch I probably go 1 time a month but wish I could go more they have entertainment at night on the weekends again before covid they did and they brought it back which is great it is Spanish music but of course this is a Spanish restaurant they have a valet parking in the rear and they watch your car and you give the guy a few bucks it is worth it as you don't have to worry about anything when you go there just good food and good times read more

I have never been fond of Central American food so I reluctantly agreed to try Selva Negra with a friend. I am still not a fan. The atmosphere inside the restaurant seemed nice enough so we ordered dinner even though the menu seemed somewhat pricey. No bread was offered with the entrees which were ok but not great. The Churrasco was served cold with rice and red beans that can only be described as dried out. Tostones were tasteless and nothing special. The seafood with rice was better but the Shrimp had an ammonia taste. Sweet plantains were stellar and the best part of the meal. All in all a waste of $50 for food brought home for the dog. The service was adequate but the food was so mediocre I wouldn't go back. Not recommended. read more

Came in on a Saturday afternoon with my family of 6 and ended up eating a $47.50 fish. It was a Tipitapa style fish which had a price marked "Market price". To me, I thought i was ordering a personal style fish like most Nicaraguan take out food and restaurants. They served me this humongous fish that 4 people could eat it. They never tell you the size of the fish. So, you better ask. The flavor was good and the fish had a fresh taste. I had the fish with white rice which to me was dry and had no flavor, didn't tasted like rice. My 2nd side was tostones which I think they used frozen type because all 3 pieces were exactly the same size; small too. Service was also good. The waitress we had did not served us water, like the table next to us. Restrooms were clean. 15% tip was automatically added for 5 people or more. As far as food, its not the worst Nicaraguan or Fritanga place I've been to but certainly not the best. I ordered the lunch special which is basically Carne Asada(grilled beef), Gallo Pinto(rice with beans), sweet plantains and a slice of fried white cheese. Now this is not fancy food but there are places where they make it better than most, not here. Yes the beef was cooked medium well like I asked and it was juicy but it lacked flavor, hence the side of sauce they place in front of you. I've been going here for a while. I think the food is great and the place has a nice atmosphere. The desserts are pretty good too. Not expensive for a nice restaurant. My only issue is with payment. If you don't let them know everyone at the table will be paying separately before you order anything, they will force one person to pay EVERYTHING. This is not good if you're with a large table and have to pay $80+. I think it's ridiculous they can't split a check. So if you keep that in mind, definitely give this place a try. The restaurant is overpriced. $27.95 for fried fish! Plus I had a small bottle of Perrier. When the bill came out to $38 and change I noticed the bill was not itemized. Horrible service. I Went to this place mano times bit the Manager on site is the aires. My party of 8 was consuming about 5 buckets of beer plus food. The manager made a comment to the karaoke guy of not to put on the request my brother in law made. She made this comment in the bathroom area so no one would hear but we were in that are and that is where everything exploded. While everything was fine the manager on site was rude, and had no reason to make that comment. He ordered the filet and he asked for it to be medium done but it came well done in the edges and raw on the inside. The mashed potatoes and beans were mediocre. The churrasco was good and so were the plantains but the chimichurri was awful and the cacao tasted weird. I know what good Nicaraguan food tastes like and this ain't it.
