We use senate for the quarterly pest treatment. They typically just spray the exterior, but will do the interior if we ask. They also promptly visit the house if we have any pest issues (no additional charge) within each quarter. Although we typically don't need additional visits. They also have a environmentally friendly exterior product that you can opt for as well! read more

Darryl was great! I'm a big chicken so having mice was not an option! Darryl came back regularly to check my traps. He adjusted the type of bait and locations when necessary. He also gave me great advice about how to store my food until the problem was eliminated. I am happy to say it took less than 3 weeks to get rid of them mice. I can now rest easy! Met with Kris first to talk about the problem that we were having at our house. After explaining all the detail step by step what was going to happen once they come made me understand the process better. He answer all the questions that I had about the issue that we were having and we were able to schedule a appointment that same weekend. Kris came out after 6pm when we were available and that made it work out very well. When Craig came out he was called and asked if he could come a few mins early for the scheduled time and it worked for us. We walked around with him as he was explaining what the device would would be doing. Both were great to work with now I hope are issue that we have goes away. =) read more

We have been using Senate Termite and Pest for a while now. The technician came out on 3/23 at 6:43 a.m. to do our quarterly service. The sun was not even up for him to be able to complete the service. He got out of his truck with the lights left on only long enough to drop off the invoice. He did not even take the spray canister out of the car. The stamp on the invoice has him at our home at our home for 11 minutes total, which must have included the time that he was sitting in his car. I called to cancel the service and get a refund. They told me I needed to give them something in writing. Why would I was my time sending them an email. I have already wasted having to call. I told them to cancel my service and refund my money. They have not refunded my money. I called again today and they said they would not refund the money, but they would schedule someone to come back out. Why would I have them come back out to not do the job a second time? Do not use this company! They are not even apologetic. Poor customer service. read more

How about hiring better programmers (or a programmer) before "bugging" people? I signed up with Senate Termite in 2000. I paid somewhere around $3000 to have them place down termite traps and got the $100,000 damage insurance. It was my understanding that I would need to pay $100 every quarter and my protection would continue as long as I owned my home. In 2008, Senate came back and told me the traps I had down needed to be replaced and I needed to pay another $3000+ for this. I was super frustrated and got the salesman to insure that this was the last time they would come back to me for more money and that I would just pay my $100 a quarter going forward. Well... Senate just came back and let me know that I needed another liquid treatment applied for around another $3000 if I wanted to keep my $100,000 damage insurance. I am canceling my contract with them and will shop around. I suggested to Senate that they work with their salespeople to be clear about expected costs with future customers. If you plan to have your house for 10 years or less, I think Senate would be fine since they won't likely come back to ask for more money. I would not recommend signing up with them unless you feel they are very clear about expected future costs. I could go on and on about my frustration with how their story changed in my eyes over time. First it was the traps had to be replaced and paid for again. Now it is the liquid must be reapplied or my insurance lapses. I always felt good about using a local company instead of a National chain, but I can't recommend them. read more

Although I am from out of town I was in town visiting my sisters home in Fairfax. She told me she thought she might have termites and that she had called a company to come check out her home. At first I was skeptical because being from California the first thing we think of is people putting nothing but chemicals in our home in a big tent and having to be out of our home for days. When Craig got there, he thoroughly inspected the house and gave us a step by step description of what he was looking for and what my sister should look out for. Once he finished he informed us that she did not have termites. My sister was not only relieved but also very grateful that he was able to explain everything very well and simplified things for her to understand. Because of his honesty and willingness to help and educate my sister she signed up for their pest control program. I have no idea how they got my number, but I cannot imagine this is a good business model for any legitimate company. Initially picked Senate because they were immediately available. However, once we met with their representative, we were most satisfied and felt no need to contact any of the others (only one of them bothered to contact us). Kris met with us on the day we put the request in to Home Advisor. He was extremely knowledgeable, professional and helpful. Set up appointment for the next day. Craig arrived right on time. He was also very knowledgeable and professional. Treatment was thorough and efficiently carried out. Seems to have solved the problem of the wasps; found a couple dead ones and haven't seen any more live ones. Bought the termite warranty as well and as a result will be saving the $300 fee for the certification document required when we sell our home next fall. About a week or so after the initial treatment came across another live wasp. Called Senate, and true to their warranty immediately scheduled a retreatment at no cost, no questions asked. Sold our home sooner than expected. They came out promptly to do WDI inspection and provided necessary documentation for home sale. At the same time they treated a shed for carpenter bee damage. Both services at no additional charge. This company is first-rate and really knows how to run a service business. read more

I have been a long time customer of Senate Termite and have had 2 contracts (2 houses) since the 1990s and then moving in 2006. Until Sept 2019 the service was outstanding. I had to write this post as a technician named Carlos and his manager named John B tried to force entry into my home after I canceled an appointment as first I was lied to stating the visit for an interior inspection was part of my quarterly termite service. I called back as I felt uneasy about having someone come in my home and was explained that it was not part of the service BUT had to be done to upgrade my bait and traps for the termite service. I stated I did not want to upgrade I was fine with my service and have never had any issues with termites and Carlos stated I was not going to be taking money out of his company like he was an owner. He was aggressive and argumentative on the phone while lacking customer service and kept stating he needed to come into my home for an inspection and would cancel my service if I did not abide by the rules. I asked for him to mail the policy that stated I as a customer needed to let Senate into my home to which he refused. I ended the conversation as it was verbally abusive. I called Senate to reach out to his manager and was given Nick Durei's name who I left a message with Gabriel (call center manager) who was very polite- (Gabriel )This guy should get a raise. This all took place 9/23/19. I did not receive a call back. I came home from work 9/26 and received a call from Senate and it was from Monique who stated she was confirming my appt for 9/27 @ 1300. I never made this appointment nor had I spoken with anyone from Senate since Gabriel. This is very concerning. Per the audit trail from Monique, John B who I found out to be the service tech's managers (Carlos) has made the appt on my behalf BUT had never spoken with me. Nothing has been resolved and I am now scared of these individuals who think they can force their way into my home by scheduling a false appt. Prince William County police were called in this instance. While I did try to contact Nick the owner, I was told he was on vacation and there was no manager in place to follow up with this concern. I could not verbally cancel the contract and was told to send written notice. This company has gone downhill with the individuals they have representing them, go somewhere else for business as you will never get anything resolved. read more

I called Senate For a service of mites, spiders and any small bugs, to cover my 2nd flr resident in Upper Marlboro Md, well i have cameras thru out my home, they sent someone out on 2/12/21, to exterminate for those services needed,, which did't kill anything, within 48hrs, we notice the same problem, i signed a contract that covers 30 days, all issues with mites, small bugs, spiders and all still there, i called them back because after 48 hours i should have seen a difference, they sent someone back out, and all he did was set off a bug bomb, well i could have done that, for less then $425, as i said i have cameras, i called them and all they said was the contract was only for 30days, well it hasn't covered 30 days yet, i sent pictures to Senate to show still receiving bug bites, i was never covered for 30 days let alone 2 days, now we have to resort to court, cause i am suing them, always make sure Senate is doing the job and not taking your money. read more

Had an issue, not only did a number of their technicians on several occasions come out WITHOUT the proper equipment to get rid of mice and ants (which is what I had)m but each time they sent someone else they came out and told me all about how "fucked" their own company was and all about their turn over in management/personnel etc.. (their own words) spoke with several managers, this is over a period of a few months, each promised to send out someone and then to have them follow up. I figured I'd counter some of the negative publicity. I've used Senate for years, both at my previous house and current house. Each house ended up having termite damage near the front of the garage within a year or two of starting the service, and both times Senate paid for all repairs. I also have a contract for treatment of indoor pests, and Senate has been responsive and come quickly whenever I've called. I'm not sure the indoor policy is as crucial as the termite policy because the damage from termites can be extensive, but I like the peace of mind it provides. read more

Legitimate companies don't have boiler rooms of telemarketers making calls up until nine o'clock in the evening. (I was called at 8:45 p.m.) The person who called my home number refused to provide the company's address or telephone number. When I telephoned the company's Manassas location the next day to complain, one of the managers told me that the company does not consider its telemarketing calls to be "sales calls" because they are offering "free inspections." Yeah, right. I'm sure the president of the company just loves being called late into the evening with offers of "free inspections." I'd never have anything to do with this company, and if I could give zero stars instead of one I'd do just that. read more

I had a very good experience with Senate. Although I am also on the national do not call list, I did get a call offering a free termite inspection. Since I plan to sell my house in the next 15 months and had never had a termite inspection, I decided to schedule the free inspection. I am always skeptical at these "free" inspections, but it went very well. Nothing was found of concern, and not much of an up sell, really. They offered a warranty, for one, two and three years. They explained the benefits of such a warranty, and with my plan to sell within two years, it seemed a reasonable thing to buy. The price was reasonable, and there was no attempt (yet) to follow up with "additional services". I suppose since I am now a customer, they might start calling offering pest control coverage, etc., but for now I was actually quite impressed. No "bait and switch" or "oh look at this" etc. The representative seemed experienced, explained what he was looking for, showed pictures of what they look for, and explained the treatments needed if infestation or damage was found. Since they found nothing, it builds my confidence that this company is honest. read more

I had an amazing experience with senate termite & pest control we've been with them several years now I can't complain I was also called to set an appointment they were polite I set the appointment they came out were were courteous and inspected my home i didnt have termites and i still havent had termites thanks to senate for maintaining my home pest free they have never upped prices like most companies the price has stayed the same they call to make appointment to check my home and have given me a warranty to make sure I stay pest free for a small 1 time payment every 12 months if I see anything like ants or bees I call them they come very quickly to help me with my problems and ask for no extra money I couldn't ask for anything more and I'll be with senate for a very long time you should give them a chance have your home checked they didn't charge me anything to check my home and I'm glad I did it best decision I've ever made read more

Senate called me and like other reviewers we are on the do not call list. I went ahead and let them come out anyway. The rep was here early but that was ok. The inspection took about 15 minutes total. During the inspection he told me that my redwood burl, which is in my garage, should be moved as it would attract termites. Even after I told him it was redwood (redwood is naturally resistant to termites) he didn't change his statement. Continuing around the house nothing else was seen. Next was the "selling" portion. I listened and that was all. I never ever sign contacts without having a few days to think about it. After considering all the aspects, including the fact they were going to pump gallons of termiticide in the ground around my home and into the cinder blocks that are my first floor really made me think. We are also on a well and that was the biggest reason I didn't sign. No one in my neighborhood has ever had termites and I just couldn't take the chance the chemicals could poison my water and yard. The fact that nothing was said about our well (plainly visable in our yard) was more than a bit deceptive in my opinion and is the main reason for this review. Please don't be pressured into signing anything without really thinking about it. Another thing is that any damage done to your home will NOT be repaired so please tell me what is covered? They want to charge you yearly for the rest of your time in your home for one treatment for termites. ???? read more
