Ew- this was disgusting. We came early to pick up our order and it was already cold. Low quality and thrown together with half the ingredients missing. To make matters worse, the girl who we ordered from over the phone had no idea what a gluten allergy was and said the cooks had no idea either-- but when you go in to pick up the food, there's a big sign saying to inform the staff if anyone in the party has an allergy! As a stand-up comedian I've done a lot of traveling in my time. I've eaten at many mexican restaurants from Los Angeles to New York. The sad thing is that seven out of ten times I get Montezuma's revenge (MR). A friend had told me of a take out place in Mt Sinai called Senior Taco so I hesitantly tried it and to my surprise there was no revenge. I ordered a Chicken Taco Soup and a Taco Salad and to my delight I was overwhelmed by their taste and flavors. Everything is made fresh which may be the reason I never get (MR). I've been trying other foods on their menu and find them also enjoyable. There is a waiting period and it's better to call in first. This review is about the Nesconset store. I've been there 3x. The food was pretty good but getting food is very very slow. The first time I sent back my taco because flies landed on it. The second time I walked out because wait so long. The third time there was no A/C- very warm in there. The staff are very friendly & helpful but I think it is the kitchen that is the problem! I have been a regular customer to Señor Taco since I was young. I have not once been disappointed by the quality of food offered at this fine establishment. To start off, service is always fast and accurate, and you always get fresh and warm chips while you wait. They offer you a small salsa bar to choose from if you would like some condiments to take along with you. The food here is spectacular. If you order tacos, get both hard and soft shells- maybe two of each- as I always find it impossible to choose between the two. Their empanadas are a mouth watering blend of seasoned meat and potatoes fried to perfection. For a period of time I was a vegetarian and I found that the taco salad without meat was a very satisfying and tasty alternative to what I would usually eat here. If you want something lighter, go for a quesadilla. They are so deliciously grilled and come with a side of sour cream and guacamole. All in all, Senor Taco is the kind of restaurant that is great for when you want a quick, but refreshing meal that also won't hurt your wallet. I'll never return. My wife ordered takeout and I went to pick it up. Three disinterested teens behind the counter....one asked what I ordered and I told her I didn't know, my wife had placed it. She asked for the phone number, handed me a bag and rung me up. When I arrived home the order was completely wrong. I called the store and was told, "Well, you didn't know what you ordered. You'll have to pay the difference." Not, " Oh, I'm sorry sir, we made a mistake," which I would have been satisfied with. I was pissed that this snotty kid, who supposedly checked the order against my phone number, was essentially blaming me for the error. I asked to speak to the manager. She lied and said she was the manager and became more argumentative. I returned to the store with the incorrect order and for a refund. I didn't want their food. They refused to refund my money, citing store policy. The "manager" on the phone was now just a worker. Bottom line, this place employs illegal aliens to cook their food and snotty high school girls who treat the customers like crap. This place is permanently off my list. read more

Amazing food, I go there almost every week after work and the staff is always overly kind even when they are over stressed with a lot of orders and customers. Highly recommend the señor taco box, it's probably the best deal on the menu! If you're going after 4 Thursday-Saturday, expect a 30-1hr wait because they get really busy on those days. Best days to go are Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday because those are their least busy days with around a 15-30 min wait. Also, Keep in mind this isn't fast food, this is a restaurant. It's gunna take restaurant time to make your food, so please don't stress the waitresses out. Hope this helped :) read more

If a business can afford to let customers hang up without ordering, they must be doing very well for themselves....or they are poorly run...i think it is probably the latter in this case. read more

Hands down the best enchiladas around. Served in aluminum tins. The cheese crisps around the base of the whole dish and finds its way into the rice and beans making every bite wonderful. The taco salad is also fantastic. Best Mexican food on Long Island! Chicken and beef empanadas were delicious - full of great flavor and fresh meat. Spinach soup is creamy, filling yet healthy and includes chicken. This is only for the Mt. Sinai location. I have never had a problem at any others. First, I love their food. Which is why I've given it so many chances. For the third time in about a month, they have messed up an order and/or the food was cold. Tonight, when I ordered I was told the wait was 40 mins. Great. It's Friday you're busy, no problem I get it. We picked up the food- we arrived actually 45 mins later. We were told we had to wait for the food- it wasn't ready. Again, ok no problem. We waited only like 5 more minutes. Get home (literally a 3 minute drive) and everything is cold. Not ice cold but cold enough we have to heat everything up. A taco was forgotten AND after specifically asking for NO SOUR CREAM- due to an allergy- there was sour cream on 2 items. I called them. They said all they can do was to bring it back and they can warm it on the grill.... I ordered nachos and tacos. How's that getting heated on a grill? Oh! And blue cheese dressing that came with something my husband ordered was bad- like funk and don't eat kinda bad. The normally delicious empanadas- grease soaked the bag. The bag broke when I took it out. I get you're busy. I'm happy that a business in my area is busy. Get better people to run it who can speak to a customer and don't say "yeah... all we can do is you bring it back and we can heat it on the grill...". I wasn't looking for food comps but they could have offered to remake it or something else other than the answer I got. I don't normally comment like this but I was actually upset. Order a taco salad with steak tonight . .... First difference was lettuce was on top... About 1/3 of the way thru, I tasted something terribly spicy. The counter girl has asked my husband if he wanted mild or spicy on the burrito ..... I brought it back to the counter.... I explained and the girl said it wad not her problem and called the chef up. He asked if I ate the salsa..... I had ... And he said there was nothing in my salad hotter than that. I asked about the rice and beans etc.... He insisted no,,,, was not about to debate him ..... Walked out and will never return. I dont care for spicy food anyway. But have tried wings etc once in a while... This was by far the spiciest thing I have ever eaten !!! Ive tried almost everything there and everything is AMAZING.. highly recommend this place to anyone in the area..
