Coincidence? I think not. When we realized we wanted to catch the last game of the NBA Finals outside, Juan, the evening manager, was more than happy to move us to the patio. That kind of flexibility and hospitality goes a long way. Great drinks, great vibes, and an even better team. The diavola pasta had a great texture and a flavorful sauce, although it felt a little simple since there weren't many other ingredients mixed in. The crispy brussels sprouts weren't for me, not very crispy and a bit hard. The gelato was much better than I expected and ended up being a nice way to end the meal. I had to wait for a couple of minutes until someone came to take my order. Ordering my food: The lady (owner??) took my order and I ordered a carne asada burrito. She used a calculator and calculated my price manually and said the total came up to be $19.75. Huh interesting, on the menu it was $17.95 and I chalked it up to tax. As the total came up, I saw the tip options. I ordered takeout so normally I hit 0 tip but interestingly enough, there is no 0 option when you are first presented tipping options. I had to click Other and manually type in 0. When I did that, she gave me the stink eye and felt like I was being judged. I received my receipt and to my surprise the total cost came up to $20.34?? Excuse me? There was a credit card surcharge of 3% applied? I wasn't made aware of this surcharge when I ordered. Why are we expected to pay this cost? This should have been covered on the business side. If you are going to order from this place be sure to track the cost of what you are ordering. I usually avoid ordering briskets since most BBQ places in San Jose that I've been to have made them very dry. There was only one piece that wasn't juicy which I expected since it had no fat on it. It was still tender and not dried out. The ribs were also good. It was tender and didn't stick to the bone as much but it wasn't as tender where it just slides off the bone. The seasoning on the ribs was neutral and the BBQ Pit have their own special bbq sauce (regular and spicy) which goes well with the meat. My wife ordered the tri tip salad and she enjoyed it. I stole some of her greens to balance the meat and beer and the veggies were fresh. The salad came with cornbread but I didn't try it. On my second visit, I decided to get the tri tip woith a side of baked potato and coleslaw. The baked potato was $3 extra. The tri tip had really good flavor and texture. It ripped apart easily when pulling. The coleslaw was ok. I might get the mac and cheese or beans next time. My wife ate the baked potato and ate most of it. I tried a little bit where it was just the potato and it was not overcooked and not too undercooked. It was easy to scoop with the fork without too much effort. If you are in the area and craving for BBQ, I highly recommend trying this place. The portion is not as big as BBQ joints in Texas or KC but they are on par with the ones around San Jose. The pricing is decent and like I mentioned, is also on par to San Jose pricing. If you have a big group, there are plenty of tables to accommodate folks. The location is close to the highway so that's a plus. The staff is very helpful and will give you a good recommendation if you are debating on what to order.
