We usually love this place. We eat here at least 2-3 month and they have always taken good care of us. But since they have changed management things have changed. For example: last night we go in for dinner and order a hot sake. Sake comes we have a taste and it taste different( not good). We ask the waitress and she said they just recently changed the brand of sake they serve and she would be happy to take it back if we wanted and bring something else. We agreed and ordered a cold sake, our favorite cold sake and it was delicious. We put in our usual order for assorted sashimi 25 piece ($70)and ask for it to be only tuna,salmon,and yellowtail. We waited almost 15 minutes for them to bring out a tray that has 8 pieces of niguri. We nicely tell them that isn't correct, they go and get the order she put in from register and they confirmed the order that we made was not that niguri and it was a 3 fish sashimi tray. While waiting for them to put our tray together, we ordered an order of amaebi and o toro. Again we waited almost 20 mins for any part of the order to come out. While waiting we ask for them to bring out some edamame because I starving and getting grumpy. They brought it out and the lady said edamame on us , and it was delicious. I finished the entire bowl and still haven't received any part of our original order. Now keep in mind it is not busy it there at all. I think there were maybe 5 tables with people sitting at them, and 2 had come in after we had gotten there. Those 2 tables received their food before we received anything beside edamame. Sashimi tray comes and it has 5 different fish on it with only 2 of the fish being the kind we requested. I still did not complain because I was so hungry it just felt good to eat something. Amaebi and o toro get delivered and I take a bite of the amaebi head and it tasted like guts and sand. Amaebi is one of my favs but I could not even choke 1 of the 3 of these down without gagging. So I nicely told the gentleman that came to pick up the dishes that "the amaebi wasnt cooked correctly and wasnt edible, I not complaining but wanted them to know" . He thanked me and took the remaining pieces. The o toro was amazing by the way!! We also ordered 2 more rolls (the pearl and shelby roll) which are always delicious and I highly recommend . So the bill comes out and its $176. I was in awe. We are ok with the cost, we have no issue paying that much if we at least get that much worth. They charged me for the hot sake we couldnt drink, the amaebi which was unedible, and the edamame which was "on us" according to the waitress. This place needs to reconsider the management decisions they have made recently if they want to stay in business. The miso soup and salad were flavorless. Beyond that, the salad was full of water and seemed to have a dirt flavor to it. California rolls also had no flavor at all. To top it off, there was no ginger or wasabi provided. Salmon teriyaki came out later and was good. A little bit too much sauce, but the dish was well cooked. I don't know how to put it nicely. My experience from eating food from Senro Sushi wasn't great. Look at the photos I took. We ordered a ton of food and none of it was memorable. We spent over $120 dollars before tip I think and I'm in disbelief how below average the food was. My sister put in a huge order for us for take out. We love Japanese food and sushi, but I am at a lost for words at how unhappy I was with this entire experience. Where do I even begin? My mom ate their teriyaki chicken and told me "This is the weirdest tasting salmon I've ever had." I told her it was chicken and she was repulsed by how chewy/rubbery it was. The katsu was not crispy and the pork was spongy. The beef tasted like chewing hard rubber or what an eraser from elementary school would taste like had I decided to eat it. I can not say anything particularly great about the sushi rolls either. Some of them were pretty uninspired visually. Nothing gave me a moment where I thought "Yes! This is great! I would DEFINITELY order this again." Everything just made me mad/irritated that people in San Ramon is paying good money for this kind of food. I can't recall even if the tempura was crispy. I don't doubt that the owners/employees are nice and good people. I'm glad they have loyal customers and people who enjoy this place to keep them in business. Since we're living in strange times, this review is for a to-go order placed through DoorDash. This is now one of my new go-to spots for ordering sushi during the pandemic. I've been ordering from several sushi places in Danville and San Ramon during the last 3 months as restaurants are closed, and I think Senro is the best quality I've had. We had the Hot Night roll, Ecstasy roll, and Shelby roll. We also ordered nigiri: unagi, salmon, and hamachi. Everything was delicious and fresh. I'd definitely order the same rolls again, but also want to try more of their menu in the future. read more

Senro Sushi is by far the best sushi place in the entire state of California. In the past couple years I have moved around Northern and Southern California. Sushi is my favorite food, so I have tried countless restaurants. Each time, I would cross my fingers and hope I would find a roll like the Shelby Roll. Not one establishment met the standards that Senro has to offer- not even close. Yes, I have enjoyed some, but there's just something that Senro has that no other place can touch. Senro's food is mouth watering. I can never just walk in and get a single item. They have the best sushi rolls, udon soup, and even their chicken soba noodles are unbeatable. However, their Shelby roll is heaven in your mouth. I don't think I have ever had anything that has come close to how tasty that roll is. I swear it's the only food that I let out an audible "mmm" whenever I eat it- as cringey as that sounds, it's true! Whenever I'm in the area, I need to stop by. I can't drive past Senro without eating there. I also love the ladies that work there, they are so welcoming and I leave without a doubt that I had an amazing experience. My wife's food came right out and we waited for sushi for about 50 minutes. They were pushing out DoorDash orders right and left and the customers who actually took the time to come in to eat there were just waiting for food. They need to remember why they have their business both eat in and take out. Because customers who started eating at the restaurant liked what we received. My friend and I had never been to this restaurant and were desperately craving sushi. The servers were not too helpful with advising us on what we should order for the best experience. Good find. Stopped by for lunch with a coworker a few weeks ago and we had a good time. We went on the later end so it was pretty empty. Service was fine and on par with that of family-owned Asian restaurants. So your food will come out fast, but your water won't get refilled as much as you need it to be. We shared the Seaweed Salad, which was mediocre. It was oversauced and featured a lot of iceberg lettuce. I then had the Orange Blossom Roll and Unagi Roll. The Unagi Roll was fine, but a little oversauced. The Orange Blossom Roll was pretty tasty. Fresh salmon and avocado, what else could you ask for? I got 5 sashimi , choice of 1 roll and 3 pc nigiri and a salad for $17.95,and my friend got a bento box 2 items and come with 4pc Ca roll , soup, salad and rice for $14.95. I've been meaning to try Senro Sushi for year and just happen to be in the area the other day when my son was craving California Rolls. The menu only lists real crab but the lady who answered the phone said it's also available with imitation crab meat for about $1.75 less so I opted for that. I also ordered their hamachi lover roll just to try. $5.25 is pretty reasonable for 6 large restaurant-grade California Rolls with imitation crab meat. My son really liked them and gobbled them up in the car. The hamachi lover roll was great. However, I'm not sure if it's worth $13.50 but the fish was fresh and there was a good amount of it. The ordering process was smooth with the host asking for my name and number. My order was repeated to ensure accuracy. Senro used to be the spot my family would go to for sushi at least twice a month. It was our favorite, well priced sushi in the area... until it wasn't. On May 12th I ordered over $40 worth of food for my friend and I. We both got food poisoning. It came on very quickly and lingered for the rest of the week. We were sure it was the sushi as we had not eaten anything else out of the ordinary. I called the restaurant and then received a call from the owner? manager? and I told him how sick we were. The man was rude, not sympathetic, and plain unprofessional. He refused to do anything about it and told us to go to the hospital and get proof from a doctor! I've unfortunately had food poisoning many times and am familiar with the symptoms. He offered 50% off my next meal but I told him I wasn't interested in coming back. Deserves zero stars for this awful experience! I never order from Senro Sushi...and last night I decided to give it a try, and I not only didn't get the rolls I ordered...but this is what I got! Never ever ever again! I ordered something totally different; I don't like fried rolls, and to make things worse...they looked and tasted burnt! I tried it, as my partner said..."give it a try" and I should have listened to my instinct, as I woke up with a stomachache! Absolutely gross! Got seated right away the place was about half full but when I left there were people waiting for a table. I ordered the Chirashi bowl since seeing the the pics on Yelp. The chirashi bowl is $17 and is served with miso soup and salad. The bowl came out and looked a lot bigger in the picture. However there were three cuts of snapper, tuna, yellowtail, albacore and two pcs of tamgo. It was satisfying and good. This was the first time i tried Senro Sushi. The menu is very traditional Japanese with you basic fish, however the assembly line sushi bar makes it fast. Good option if you want to sit down and don't want to wait in line across the center. Chirashi is fairly pricey so I can't have this daily as well as sushi rice can be my achilles heal and trying to lose weight and having a ton of rice isn't the best idea. Anyways, I decided I should try Senro Sushi's chirashi and overall, a lot of food for the price you pay, but just felt okay overall. L O C A T I O N Senro is located in the same plaza as Safeway. It's right near Frozen Cafe, Orient Express, and Fish on the Grill (or something like that). Parking here can be really crazy during lunch time and I lucked out finding a spot. S E R V I C E I called in my order and they quoted that I should pick up in 15 minutes and I came a little less than that and it was definitely all ready to go. They do ask for your phone number and name and double check that the location is San Ramon in Safeway. I guess they might have had folks order for the San Jose location. F O O D ~ Chirashi Bowl - $18.43 (including tax) ~ For 16 pieces of sashimi, you're basically paying $1 per piece which isn't too shabby considering you get a nice layer of sushi rice, salad and miso soup. The slices felt small, but perhaps this is normal sized slices. One of the fishes didn't feel fresh, but the rest did which isn't that bad. The tamago was nice and sweet. the ginger didn't feel fresh, but I still ate it. The salad had your standard sweet creamy mayo based salad dressing with iceberg lettuce. Miso soup was salty but that's typical. O V E R A L L I feel like Yayume had better chirashi, but my memory might be incorrect. I'll have to revisit it, but for the chirashi in the area, it's definitely better than Sakura Japanese. If I'm ever craving chirashi I'll either go here or Yayume. read more

Came here with my friends ordered a ton of sushi. The food is good but the service can use a little more attention. No one refilled my water and I had to ask twice for them to bring me something. I've only been here for lunch but when they get busy, I feel like they forget about you and just do a half decent job. As for the food, the rolls actually aren't bad. The fish tastes pretty fresh and the portions seem to be just right. Usually order three rolls between two people. It's not cheap sushi but it's not overly expensive either. Out of all the sushi places in the work area I definitely would come here over the others if I am looking for a not as pricey one like Amakura. read more

So, my hubby and I ate at this restaurant by accident because Poke Don (which is in the same shopping area) was closed until their grand opening this Thursday, 3/10/16. Well, like that old saying goes, "When one door closes, another one opens" and boy were we in for a treat! This Japanese restaurant is delicious. We started with the warm garlic edamame and it was different compared to other edamame's we've had because this one had a zest to it like a lemon favor or something and it was yum! I wanted to try something new so I got the Unagi Fried Rice and that was OK. It's your typical fried rice, but just add Unagi to it. We also ordered two rolls. One of the rolls was the REAL CRAB California Roll and that's right folks, it had real crab in it and by golly, did it make me look at California Rolls in such a better way! The second roll, The Baked Scallop Roll, was also a flavorful treat. The Chicken Karage was delicious as well and I believe that was fried in a tempura batter. I ordered a spicy mayo on the side to compliment the Karage and to me, it made it all the better. So, would I come back here.... HECK YEAH! read more

The decor of Senro Sushi is nice; it's well-kept, clean, and comfortable. The booths are pretty intimate and can be a good place to catch up with old friends or take a date. We came here on a weekday for lunch, so it wasn't super crowded but still had a decent amount of people to not seem barren. I've read some reviews that say the service here isn't so great, but I feel it's adequate for a normal sushi restaurant. Most of the waitresses had smiles on their faces and were more than happy to explain what was in the rolls or how they were prepared. There was one waitress who was more aloof and had a somewhat unhappy look on her face, but maybe she was just having a bad day, and her expression didn't affect her willingness to be a good server. The sashimi and oyster shooters came out super fast, but the rolls and ankimo did take a little longer. Oyster shooters: These were actually pretty good, but they're somewhat different from other oyster shooters I've had at American seafood restaurants. The alcohol here isn't overly detectable, but that can be a plus for some. There was also a quail egg cracked inside, which I thought was a nice touch. There is green onion and fish roe inside, and that lent a good flavor to the overall shooter. The shooter itself is rather big, so it's a little hard to get everything in there at once, but I recommend drinking some of the liquid first and then throwing the oyster, quail egg, and leftover liquid back together; pretty delicious! I will say that the oyster wasn't very big though, and the texture was a little rubbery, so I don't know if they were the freshest oysters out there. Sashimi a-la-carte Large (assorted): The portion of this sashimi is pretty large; the pieces of sashimi themselves were thick and generous. As for the freshness of the fish... I think I've had fresher. The salmon was good, but the hamachi and tuna definitely had a gummy texture that I didn't like. Shelby Roll: This roll was good, but nothing special. The sauce can be a little overpowering, so if you're not a fan of overly creamy sauces, maybe go light on that. Green tea ice cream: Pretty good, but pretty standard. read more
