This place was amzing because it was all gluten free and the food was incredibly good. It could be a little pricey but it is worth the price for sure i had the chicken parasite and it was amazingly good. This place had great service, and our waitress, had a very unique name was very sweet. We were inside but decided to sit outside and it got even better and somewhat romantic. The place was sort of loud, but its new york you have to expect that from time to time, but not to where you couldn't enjoy your dinner and night out. Check this place out you wont be disappointed especially if you are gluten-Free.

Amazing gluten-free Italian option steps from Washington Square, Park. The inside of the restaurant is super charming as is the outside seating. We unfortunately had some mosquito issues and weren't able to fully enjoy our dining experience, but the restaurant management tried to help us as well as they could. We will definitely visit again and sit inside during the summer! We enjoyed everything we had

Please note that Senza Gluten is a totally separate entity from Senza Gluten by Jemiko This restaurant was GREAaT. Bread service-- just like non gluten free people take for granted! The pastas were all excellent. My favorite was the mushroom ravioli. It had a creamy sauce and strong but refined mushroom flavor We had a good wine The tiramisu was delicious. It was better the day after other desserts were also good It's a good Italian restaurant --and it's also gluten free. A real winner Nice neighborhood restaurant feel. Good for an average night or special occasion.

Senza gluten was nothing short of a magical experience. With the menu entirely dedicated gluten free, safe for celiacs, it's a rare celiac experience with tons of choices (good for vegans and vegetarians too!). They start you off with a complimentary basket of table bread. This is the highlight of the meal for a celiac. I haven't had such warm, fluffy, bread-smelling baguette bread since diagnosis. It was marvelous. I are an entire basket on my own. It appears they use the same bread but toasted for the bruschetta, which is a full Garlic experience. The pasta was amazing and indistinguishable from gluten pasta. The sauce was rich and flavorful. I asked for the four cheese gnocchi to have a pasta subbed for gnocchi and they recommended penne shape. It was fantastic. The tiramisu is heavenly. It's light and airy, the complete opposite of your average gluten free experience. Nice coffee taste, a delicate set of flavors. Service was very friendly and enthusiastic but a little slow. Our water ran out and the server did not notice or bring us more. We had to try several times to get their attention for more water.

Came here for dinner and absolutely loved it. Everything is gluten free but many customers come because the food is great. I had the lasagna (some I have not had in over a decade). I was in heaven. We loved enough we came back the next day for brunch. And let me tell you, get the French toast. They were amazing. The service was great. Got to meet the owner and her son - interestingly they are from Georgia (the country) and not from Italy. Still great job and I place I recommend especially for my gluten free friends, but everyone will enjoy this place. Note: bathrooms are down stairs and not accessible to disabled folks.

Senza has been on my list of places to try as I don't get to eat fresh Italian food a lot due to my gluten sensitivity. I went there for lunch when they first opened so the restaurant wasn't crowded which I liked. The staff was very nice and prompt. The bread and oil were so food. You could taste how fresh the bread was and it was super soft. I ordered the lasagna which was very good and I couldn't even tell any of the meal was gluten free. I would love to come back for a dinner to explore more of their menu and try some dessert.

This was my wife and I's second time coming here and it did not disappoint. Food was absolutely amazing and the service was phenomenal. The restaurant is always clean and nicely lit great ambience.

Cozy, romantic restaurant where you can feel the owners love. First off, everything in this restaurant is gluten free including the free bread they bring out to you to start your dining experience. I started the meal with a Montepulciano wine and was taken aback how wonderfully sweet it was. For my second drink of the evening, I tried their blue fizz gin drink which I also enjoyed and packed more of a punch being it was a liquor drink versus wine. My gf and I shared a mushroom bruschetta which was decent. If I could have a redo I probably would order something else but that is just due to me not loving a hard and toasted bread which yes, I am very aware is the nature of brushetta ; ) I ordered the grilled veal which came garnered with mushrooms and I subbed out the string beans for Brussel sprouts, the meal also came with roasted potatoes. The roasted potatoes were exceptional. Brussel sprouts needed some more seasoning, which was an easy fix, just pour a dabble of salt on them, ez pz. The veal could have used perhaps a dipping sauce or a sauce to enhance the flavor, but it was certainly delicious, I finished it all without fail. The gf went with the spaghetti and chicken parm dish. She stated she enjoyed it but was expecting more leading to the lead up to coming here. Now FYI, this is a monster piece of chicken, so you are getting good value for your buck as you should definitely have a number of leftovers. I was studying the light fixture on our table, and it looked like the owner who came over to me and gave me all the details on the beautiful piece and was very friendly. If you are celiac or need to eat gluten free, I think you will enjoy your dining experience here. As always people SYOY!!!

My husband, son and I went to the city just to try this place out. Being gluten free and in New York we knew we were not going to be disappointed here. We were seated right away. We ordered their fresh bread and calamari to start off with. All of us really enjoyed both I forgot to picture them. I enjoyed a non alcoholic strawberry margarita it was refreshing and sweet. I loved it. I ordered pollo allá milanesa, my husband the pollo allá parmigiana and we specifically ordered a pasta with white sauce mushrooms/shrimp for my son. Food was delightful and portions were big so we definitely ended up taking some home. We ended with tiramisu which was just as good as we had imagined. The reason I took off one star was because the waiter got lost in the mix of people who would come up to check and see if we were done. There were at least three people checking on our table which was very odd in my opinion. They almost took one of our plates when we weren't fully done. Just really felt rushed out of there and it did take away from the experience we were hoping to get. Ambiance other than that felt chill so maybe I would give it another chance next time.

Had a great work lunch in Greenwich Village this past Sunday! This is a fantastic spot for gluten-free dining, and my co-worker with celiac was so happy to have a worry-free meal. The staff were friendly, asked for any other allergies (if any), & made us feel comfortable. This establishment is on the smaller side but very lovely. The ambiance gives Italy all the way, felt fancy like, but also authentic. We started with warm bread served with olive oil, which was comforting, though I would've liked a bit more crunch. The fried calamari had a nice texture but could have used a little extra seasoning. These are just my personal opinions, but the real standout? The lasagna. Light, flavorful, and genuinely impressive for a gluten-free dish-it didn't feel like a compromise at all. To top it off, I tried their tiramisu and couldn't believe how light and airy it was! I love tiramisu, and I was so glad it wasn't heavy--it was the perfect way to end the meal. This meal has me excited to explore more gluten-free spots. Senza Gluten was a great find! I will be returning another time to try more as well as the missed out on cocktails, which looked delicious per their IG! Tip *** They only take AMEX or cash, atm on site, & downstairs towards the small restrooms.

Six of us came here for my birthday dinner. While only one of us is GF, we all really enjoyed our meals. My GF friend was SO happy to be able to eat all the things. Gio (sp?) our server was helpful and quick. This place was very busy and we had to wait a bit before our table was ready- about 30 mins after our scheduled reservation. They were very busy, obviously a need in the world. Quaint place with a solid menu for everyone who enjoys Italian. I can't say I liked the bread, but my spaghetti a la vongole was great. We also got calamari for the table and some burrata. The calamari was super light and tasty. We got some cannoli for dessert- not my fave and actually quite pricey for the size of what it was. Everything else was great. I'd recommend.

    Rigatoni Funghi e Speck
    Luis S.

I have no reason to eat gluten free, but I came here because I heard the food was good. I was not disappointed! The Rigatoni Funghi e Speck was delicious. It was the right amount of creamy and mushroomy. Plus the smoked prosciutto really brought it all together. The portion was also huge. I was so full at the end without even finishing it. My wife and I got the fried rice balls to share. They were creamy, cheesy, and had a nice crunch. The bourbon cocktail I ordered was really well balanced and I enjoyed sipping on it throughout dinner. Service was great. Very friendly and attentive staff. The space was nice too. It was a cozy spot that didn't feel cramped. Definitely felt like I was at an Italian restaurant from the decor. Overall, very great food. I recommend trying and even more for someone who needs a gluten free option.

Ask the Community - Senza Gluten

What are the ingredients of your pasta? Unfortunately, I've got so many allergies :-( including eggs, dairy, oats, and nuts. Thanks so much!

Hello! Most of our pasta is corn based. Please call us directly, and one of our team members would be happy to discuss which of our menu items are appropriate or can be modified to fit your specific needs. Thank you!

Is it true they only accept Amex or cash?

That was true when we went there a month ago.

Do you accept visa credit card?

When I visited in June, Senza Gluten accepted cash only - no credit cards.

    Are there vegan options?

There are limited vegan options. They do accept alterations. One person at our table ordered penne pomodoro (penne with red sauce and no meat) and it didn't come with cheese on top, they offer it on the side. They also accept alterations to dishes…

Just wondering about the current Covid precautions! Are there effective outdoor heaters? Or should we be prepared with lots of layers?

Thank you for reaching out! We’ve recently made some changes to our space. Please call our restaurant directly between 5-9pm Wed-Sun, and our staff would be happy to explain our current precautions and setup.

Are there safe options for egg allergy as well?

Thank you for reaching out! We are happy to accommodate other food allergies and intolerances, including eggs. If you have multiple allergies, we urge you to call ahead and discuss your dietary needs with the chef directly. If you have airborne…

    Is there a dress code?

No, there is no specific dress code.

What type of pasta do they use? Do they make it?

I believe they made their own. All types. Not sure if it was corn. I can't answer really except to tell you it's the best gluten free pasta we've ever had.

Our family also has an oat, buckwheat, and rosemary allergy in addition to being gluten intollerant. Are there any dishes we should avoid on the menu?

I would call the restaurant directly. They were so helpful to us.

Is this place byob or do they have a bar?

Wine and beer. Not sure about liquor.

Do they have dairy free items? Or dairy substitutes?

Yes my daughter eats there and and she is dairy, free, gluten free and corn free. Just be sure to alert the server to any food allergies.

Is the pasta big enough for two people to split with no appetizer?

Hard to answer. How much do you eat? We always get an entree each with no app but get bread and tiramisu after. Always filling. If you are GF, lasagna is what we travel 2500 miles for!

It was somewhat busy but not at full capacity for full-on hustle bustle busy. Seating for one, please. Me, myself and I. Friedman's is located adjacent to Hotel Edison and restroom facility is in the hotel's lobby. Access to Hotel Edison's facility is limited as the hotel's staff will stop all who enter as I am not a hotel guest. I believe Friedman's is very overhype, and overrated. My male server/waiter calls all the female patrons "love" which does not bother me and does not irk me at all. But please do not call me "babe", "baby", "mamma" or "mommy" as these are too sexist, outdated and stereotype in some cultures/race directed at women. Friedman's is certainly a modern American luncheonette. No comment for alcohol as I not order any. There are no business cards for keepsake. The pastrami is NOT brined, seasoned certainly not smoked and not a hot sandwich. It is not cured pastrami. The mustard was mild spicy which gave the meat a zesty kick for aliveness, but very minimally applied. The pickle was average. The vinegar chips were very stale and harden. The rye bread was average with caraway seeds which was blah. I am uninterested in caraway seeds. Katz's Delicatessen continues to reign supreme in pastrami on rye as the meat is excessively abundant quantity piled high and very flavorful taste without the need of mustard or mayo condiment. I prefer this sandwich accompanied with fries like Katz's Delicatessen offers. At the bottom of the sales receipt there is a suggested gratuity in intervals of 20%, 22% and 25% where customers do not have to perform math calculation.
