    Dumplings
    Hannah M.

Really wish that I could recommend it but the food was just simply not good. I got the bibimbap lunch special and shrimp dumplings today for lunch (both were around $20 total) and I was pretty disappointed. First and foremost my delivery was pretty delayed (around 20-30 minutes later than expected). Maybe not the restaurant's fault so not really deducting a star as a result, just a note in general. The food was so average. I got a bunch of veggies and two meats (beef and spicy chicken) in my bibimbop and got it over sweet potato noodles. It had almost no flavor and the meat was so dry. Vegetables tasted like they had been reheated from frozen. It was like cafeteria food. Dumplings were the same, clearly not cooked or steamed fresh. I did like the sauce they were served with, however. Despite rave reviews on Yelp, my mom and sister both discouraged me from trying this place after their own mediocre experiences and I wish I had listened to them. Would not return.

Convenient spot if you're looking for some quick pretty good food. I liked that you can build your own bibimbap. I liked that it came with miso soup and a drink. I regret not trying it in the hot stone bowl because I feel like it would've been better but I did not like the idea of having to pay extra for that. I also feel like they could've added more vegetables, the amount was a bit stingy. My other complaint would be that there was too much sauce added at the end I felt my rice was saturated. So perhaps a little lighter or I'll try to get it on the side next time. I would like to try some of their other items so I'm sure I would come back again

Pick & Mix is a fast causal, build your own bibimbap/japchae restaurant. My bibimbap was a bit disappointing, it was average. The spicy gochujang sauce was spicy. Some aren't as spicy. I would have liked it better if they had the sauce on the side because I think mine had too much sauce. The veggies were a bit stingy and the flavors weren't there. I liked my noodle bowl with teriyaki sauce much better. The sauce added flavor and the noodles were a bit bouncy.

It might look like much from the outside but it's a great little spot! Everything is fresh and cooked to order. I prefer the sweet potato noodles- which until Pick and Mix I had never had. The staff are super sweet and friendly and the food is delicious. Definitely get the miso soup too!

Lucky us!! This was our first time at Pick & Mix and it was amazing!! They said this is the first Sunday they were open so lucky us we got to try it!! My daughter ordered Korean chicken tenders, kimchi and noodles and I got a bibimbap in a hot stone bowl. It was wonderful and filling!! We will be back!! The owner was super nice and the service was excellent. I highly recommend Pick & Mix!! P.S. my wife ate all my leftovers when I got home. So she sends her approval too!!

A really solid meal where you choose your ingredients and customize your dish and have it cooked to order. Adding $1 for the hot stone bowl is definitely worth it, it makes the dish much better and you also get an egg on top (which cooks with the stone bowl). The guys working there are also super friendly, miso soup comes with your meal as a free option. Only a couple of us ordered bottled water on the side and ate in the store, but the guy working that day came and brought us a few water bottles for the rest of the table which was very kind. Exterior isn't impressive but promise the food is worth it. If you're like me and normal restaurant portions are usually too big, a bowl will probably be enough for you to take leftovers home.

I've been a long time fan of Pick & Mix and LOVE the renovations that have been recently done to the restaurant! Located across from Stop n Shop on 1234 Farmington Ave, it is a delicious option for lunch or dinner! My partner and I came here for dinner after a long day of running errands. It was a gloomy rainy day, so this was absolutely perfect! As soon as we came in, we were greeted. You walk up to the counter and order what you'd like! I usually LOVE eating-in in order to get the stone bowl. The crispy rice at the bottom is so worth it. I recommend doing so if this is your first time! We decided to get our bowls to go this time. I ordered the white rice base with spicy chicken. I added all my favorite veggies and then opted for the gochujiang sauce with sesame oil! If you don't know what sauce to get, I highly recommend this combo if you love spice! Overall, this bowl was HUGE and delicious! I had enough for lunch the next day. Our meals came with miso soup and was packed so carefully! 10/10 I highly recommend Pick & Mix and all their locations!

I tried their veggie bowl with tofu and added hot sauce with sesame oil. Hot stone was extra $2 and kimchi came as a side for additional $. The bowl was flavorful, quick and easy. However I wish it was more affordable

My food was burnt and had no flavor!! So bad

My order was so bad today! It had no flavor and they burnt the rice! what a waste of money!

This place didn't look like much on the outside but I was pleasantly surprised inside the store. I loved the plentiful veggie options that were available and that they cooked it all through with the rice and added flavoring sauce on top. I couldn't make a decision on what to get the first time I went but the staff were very helpful. The lunch special also included a drink and soup which was a deal! This is on my short list of places to pick up something to eat that's nearby and easy to get to with plenty parking.

I came here a couple days ago before making this review and I'm still thinking about my order that day. I have to come back soon. Bi Bim Bap is like the best thing ever in terms of filling your self up with carbs, protein and vegetables for a cheap price and also tastes AMAZING. But Pick & Mix being one of the first Bi Bim Bap restaurants in this area really opened my mind when I tried it about 5 years ago. I always remembered Pick & Mix being there and I never came back (even though I always wanted to because it was amazing) until 5 years later. Wow I feel like an idiot! Alright you can get Bi Bim Bap, high quality Bi Bim Bap at like any Korean Restaurant but here it's different. Pick & Mix is a restaurant dedicated to Bi Bim Bap. For an extra dollar you can even have it in a hot stone pot! But I did take out this time and let me tell you this now, if you want lots of food that fills you up quickly for lunch.........Bi Bim Bap at Pick & Mix is the way to go. $10 at lunch gets you a large serving of Bi Bim Bap full of rice or noodle, vegetables (lots of them), and a ton of meat along with a sauce of choice. Oh wait that's not all! They even give you a drink and a small bowl of miso soup all for $10!!!!! Is this a dream?!?!?!! I ordered rice, all vegetables and scrambled egg w/o jalapeño peppers, and beef with a teriyaki sauce to finish everything off. This filled me up, it's hearty, it's cheap, it's amazing! Wasn't over sauced, wasn't too salty or sweet, it was perfect! As for the service everyone was super friendly! Just because this place is Korean doesn't mean they have all Korean staff, it doesn't take a Korean chef or any chef to put things into a bowl. But in the kitchen there is a Korean chef who makes the meats and finishes your bowl of Bi Bim Bap so don't think of this place any less when you see someone who isn't Asian at the front table, it means nothing as the food was still easily a 10/10. Just saying for those who judge in that way, don't judge like that! We're just used to seeing Asians in Asian restaurants hahaha, this topic is so over the top. Staff was trained well and very nice! But yeah! The inside is clean and small but there's plenty of seats for you to eat, they also have other orders for the side, the staff is super friendly, and most importantly the food is AMAZING for the price. Definitely stopping by everytime I'm in the area. I love the concept picking your ingredients like you're at Subway but it's Bi Bim Bap. I hope to keep my word and become a regular because if I don't, I know I'll be missing out big time.

From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was already welcoming. Chick-fil-A is known for being clean, organized, and efficient, but this visit went above and beyond. The dining area was spotless, the line moved quickly even though it was busy, and everything felt calm and smooth instead of chaotic. You could tell the team was working together like a well-oiled machine. Now let me talk about Tyrone. Tyrone is hands down one of the best employees I have ever interacted with at any restaurant. The first thing I noticed was his energy. It wasn't forced or robotic -- it was genuine. He greeted me with a real smile, made eye contact, and made me feel like he was actually happy I was there. That kind of customer service is rare. He was patient while I decided what to order, answered my questions without rushing me, and even made a helpful suggestion that ended up being perfect. You can tell he knows the menu well and takes pride in doing his job right. He wasn't just "taking an order" -- he was making sure my experience was great from the start. What really stood out was how consistent he was. I watched him interact with other customers while I waited, and he treated everyone the same way -- respectful, upbeat, and attentive. Whether it was a family with kids, an older couple, or someone just grabbing a quick meal, he gave every person his full attention. That kind of professionalism says a lot. When my food came out, it was exactly how I ordered it -- hot, fresh, and perfectly prepared. The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, the fries were golden and seasoned just right, and everything was neatly packaged. Even the presentation felt thoughtful. Tyrone didn't stop at just handing off the food either. He checked in to make sure everything was correct and asked if I needed anything else. That extra step made a big difference. It showed that he genuinely cares about customer satisfaction, not just completing tasks. Chick-fil-A already has a strong reputation for customer service, but employees like Tyrone are the reason that reputation exists. He represents everything great about the brand: kindness, efficiency, attention to detail, and positivity. It's clear that he takes pride in his work, and that pride shows in every interaction. In a world where customer service can sometimes feel rushed or impersonal, Tyrone stood out in the best possible way. He turned a simple meal into a memorable experience. If every restaurant had someone like him on their team, the world would honestly feel a little friendlier. To management: recognize this employee. He is a huge asset to your store. Employees like Tyrone are the reason customers come back again and again. Five stars isn't enough. Outstanding service, amazing food, and one truly exceptional worker. I'll absolutely be coming back -- and I hope Tyrone is there when I do.

By experience from a different line of work, most people can't distinguish the two and call it in Hartford though some may bed to differ. I have visited this establishment on a number of times during bingo night. It's a fun engagement to the crowd while also grabbing dinner. It's most convenient that the foyer leads to both the ordering counter and dining area. It is even more convenient that QR codes are placed at each table and you can order from the app while being comfortable in your seat. It's most helpful if someone is trying to limit contact. The staff will bring your food right to you too. The food is always amazing!! Can't go wrong with any kind of chicken sandwich. My children do not care for the bread and usually opts for tenders. The Chick-fil-A sauce is also one of the things we love taking home after a visit. The overall expense is high though I think paired with an event, it makes it all worth it. There is also a "playground 4 little chkn eatrz" that my children love and tucked in a corner in the back is a comfy red couch for selfies. I can't forget to mention that the staff are friendly. They come around and refill, refillable drinks too! That is so hospitable! The whole place is really clean.

The wings were bigger in those days at the Ithaca, NY location, and back then they still had ribs that were delicious and fell off the bone. Since moving to NYC in 2005 the only chance I have to experience their wings are when I visit my parents and go to the West Hartford location. This location is pretty small with hardly any parking and only one or two tables in the restaurant. It's more of a take out place. But the garlic parmesan wings are still very tasty. They have many other flavors too. Similar to Buffalo Wild Wings in terms of flavor options. They even have garlic parm and lemon pepper options for the fries too. I got take out today. A 14 wing group pack including fries cost me $29. The wings seem a little smaller than they were a few years ago, but still not bad.
