Friend and I wanted to try something new and had found this close by to the farmers market we were at. Swung by on a Saturday during peak lunch and made us a little worried seeing it empty but decided to try it and support a local business. The menu had lots of options. Starting from different seafood pancakes to different Korean noodle soups or bimbimbap dishes to a few combo options of beef or pork. We chose for the all beef combo that was about $80. Banchan included some classics; kimchi, pickled soy onion and jalapeños, potato salad, salad, pickled radish, and a shredded beef. Nothing really stood out about the banchan. The shredded beef was definitely something new, but it was dry and kinda chewy. I don't know if this is how the dish is supposed to be, but it didn't really wow me. The meat for the bbq was good, and would say that the waiter did an amazing job cooking everything for us. The meat was well marinated and presented. The hard part is for the price that we paid we could have gotten even better quality and options at an AYCE price. We think the reason why was because the prices for what you get was lacking in the value department. We got the small combo, choosing the short rib, and the meat was all decent, but quantity for the $79 price tag was lacking. Pickled cucumbers were probably our favorite part, and the service was good, since we legit were the only people in there the whole time we were there, which was sad. Another cozy kbbq spot in OC. Ordered the beef combo which came with an assortment of three cuts cooked for you right at the table-boneless short rib, briskets, and choice of rib finger. Came in a large and small. They also have pork combos and beef/pork combos. They all came with a choice of soy bean paste or kimchee stew. We chose the soy bean paste stew. And just like the Korean way we had to order cold noodle to share to wash it all down. Overall good choice for kbbq. Meat was tender and good quality. Moved to irvine from LA recently. Rather than going to baekjong, we decided to try Seoul n spirit. Menus were very similar menu so we ended up getting the beef combo, cheese corn, and seafood pancake. As a whole, it was not as good as baekjong. We ordered brisket, LA Kalbi, and two different short ribs. All the meats were good. Corn cheese was good. The banchan was also good! One of them was even a shredded pork (or beef) thing. Service was also fantastic. There were 6 of us and they gave us a room. The ladies that work there are so nice and this is one of those places where they cook for you. My jaw literally dropped to the floor when they brought out the Beef and Pork set (Large) we ordered. Just peep the picture below to see this masterpiece! All of their sets include rice, your choice of soybean or kimchi stew and refillable side dishes (banchan). You can order the meat a la carte, but I think the sets are a better value. The kimchi stew was really soothing and warmed us right up! The banchan was authentic and plentiful. Love that they offer fish cakes, kimchi, broccoli, potato salad, radish and even green onion kimchi! Highly recommend ordering the cheese corn and steamed egg, which even came topped with lots of cheese - definitely unique to this place! Loved the ambiance, as we didn't have to wait long to get seated in a booth, which was private, relatively quiet and well-ventilated. Will definitely be back, as we were highly pleased by the quality and taste of the food, as well as our whole experience. Seoul N Spirits BBQ is a good choice for Korean BBQ, but I wouldn't call it "the best Korean BBQ in town" as advertised. They also claim to serve the finest cuts of meat, but I've had better at both Baekjeong and Marble Steakhouse also in Irvine. I read a few Yelp reviews and I def felt like some of the 5-star reviews were misleading bc I didn't share the same dining experience. The restaurant can be found in a plaza at the intersection of University Drive and Michelson Drive, and they do accept reservations. We ordered the Large Beef & Pork Combo which includes choice of Sirloin or Boneless Short Rib, Brisket, Short Rib Steak, Pork Belly and Pork Jowl. We were told it feeds 3-4 people. Our favorite by far was the Short Rib Steak, but I noticed cuts like the Brisket were too fatty and Pork Jowl was too lean. All combos are served with soybean soup, banchan and sauces. We also supplemented our meal with Steamed Eggs which I recommend. This is a full-service restaurant, so you can expect the staff to cook the meats in front of you. From a service perspective, it would be best described as mixed. We had different staff members servicing our table, and some were definitely friendlier than others. At times, it wasn't the easiest to track down a server. For the price, I'd prefer to go to Marble or Baekjeong but Seoul N Spirits is still a solid choice for KBBQ in Irvine. read more

We had a very unpleasant experience. There were six adults and two one-year-old babies in our group. We arrived around 2:30 PM. An older server had just warmly said goodbye to the previous table, but when it was our turn, she greeted us with a very unfriendly expression. What happened to this place??? This restaurant used to be pack ed and very busy. At a peak dinner time on a Friday night, there were only three parties of two and our party of six. It wasn't the food. The service was the culprit for lack of customers. There was only one server and her back up. The server was slow and not responsive. She did not appear to be happy to be working. When we asked for refill of banchan, it took her awhile and gave us very small amounts. The food wasn't bad, but her horrendous service ruined the dinner. We will not be returning to this place, but take our business to premium Korean BBQ restaurants where the service is also premium. read more

Service was mostly solid, very kind friendly and hospitable. - At times when they got busy, we had to ask several times for boricha (barley tea) refills and napkins - But ultimately they got us everything we needed All the ban chans were great! They gave us plenty of refills of everything we asked for. Their kimchi was perfection (very well made). The meat quality was really great. The meat was all so tender! - I think their marinated meat could be less sweet The set combo also comes with either soybean soup or kimchi chigae (we opted for the latter), it was well made and tasty. We came on a Monday night and we're able to walk right in and the managers Erisa and Charlee greeted us and did a great job making sure our order was taken right away and that we received our banchan quickly. Matthew delivered the meats to us and delivered any additional sides we had. As for the banchan we weren't huge fans of the selections. There was pickled lotus, salad, salsa, fish cakes, beans, and kimichi. Overall, we felt the price point didn't quite match the restaurant. The meat was amazing but, unlike competitors with pre selected high quality meats, they do not cook the meat for you. The combo comes with half a kimichi stew - the egg and corn cheese is additional. Another great kbbq place has come to Irvine!! I visited on a weekday and there was no wait. We ordered the Pork/Beef Combo small and it was the perfect amount of meat for 4 people (1 was my grandma though so she doesn't eat as much). As you can see in the picture, Seoul n Spirits provides high quality meat (look at that marbling) plus quick service (they help grill the meat). I love going to place with combos since it feels the most convenient. Prices were similar to all kbbq restaurants in Irvine. Some highlights: my family LOVED the kimchi!! we refilled our kimchi maybe 6 times. It's homemade and has a great spicy crunchy flavor without being too sour. I've been coming to this location since I was little. They switched ownership two years ago and the food is just as great. Sometimes when I'm not looking to feel super stuffed with the variety of AYCE KBBQ places in Irvine, this place is where my family and I go. I didn't know Korean food could ever be this bad. I am so incredibly disappointed in this place, all the main dishes we ordered were practically inedible. Meat was so tough i couldn't even chew it. This was so good! I order it each time I see it on the menu. My only complaint was how skimpy their banchan were. There were only two I liked, which were the cucumber and kimchi. Not only that, but they were also so stingy to refill it. We asked our server to refill our cucumber side dish, but she made an excuse that they stopped serving it after a certain time of the day, which was BS and such lame excuse. Our server did all the cooking for us. She was so patient and nice and knew when to stop and come back to do more cooking. The place is nice and with an upscale vibe.
