They don't have most of the selections that the bigger stores offer, but their sales associates know their products and are approachable. I've been to other sephora stores where their employees pretend to be busy or creep up on you to check on what you're doing or trying on. I rate it a three because they did not have a specific urban decay powder and told me that the Santa Monica store did. Which I dislike driving over there due to parking. Wish they has more of a selection because this store is close and I like that I can come to Westfield Culver City mall shop and still grocery shop at the target. This Sephora has always treated me well. Today, I went in to browse around with a friend & Meira was extremely helpful & informative with all the questions we had. I wanted to buy something to help my boyfriend's keratosis pilaris & she was quick to suggest First Aid Beauty's charcoal body wash. This girl really knows her stuff! Super informative & she was never pushy. She gave us multiple samples of any other items we wanted to try & was even helping us & other customers that came in without making us feel like she didn't have time for us. I ended up purchasing the product she suggested. She even gave us a heads up that the cash register was running a little slow in case we needed to be somewhere. I had no issues waiting but the cashier gave us a leave-in conditioner just for waiting! That's what I call great customer service :) read more

This location has pretty bad customer service, it was a few customers in the store but i walked around for at least 10 minutes before i ran into someone that didn't have a customer. I asked her for help she was like here get this and walked away, i had another question but she didn't even give me time to ask it. I did receive help from one young lady with long curly black hair she was African American but seriously the only person that helped me was her and i appreciate it because she explained everything to me even though she was handling most of the customers i didn't catch her name but she was so sweet. However being a previous employee at Sephora my experience at this location was terrible i only gave two stars for the girl that helped other than that i have no reason to come back to this location. read more

Purchased a skin product back in Boston at a Sephora. It was the wrong one for my skin color. So I exchanged very easily within the 60 day purchase time. Logan, assisted me at the Culver City store to pick out the correct product for me and fully explained how to use it and apply it correctly. This review got 3 stars for Kevin and location which is convenient for me....it loses 2 stars for the manager on duty yesterday and lack of stocked product I came in for a concealer left with lashes and brow gel as well....Kevin helped me search for a palette that was no longer available and suggested the best lashes... On the way out decided to stop by fragrance...the manager or a.manager, assumed by the fact she was sending/ending breaks, gave me nasty attitude....I asked for a sample of a new scent by Stella and a new Gucci I hadnt seen....she corrected me twice on pronunciation of Stella ( which isnt Stila thank you much) if you correct someone be correct please... made no eye contact tossed me the two samples and said "thas all?"....it is now, after experiencing you I dont know if she assumed I wasnt worthy of a sample or had a bad day but the thing is...everyone has crap days, at work u leave your crap day at the door...im a hairstylist no one spends their money with me to get my 'tude...I didnt go in to spend my money to get hers...and if spending 85 dollars isnt worth a couple of samples to her she shouldn't be at Sephora because online I could get more... by the way most of the time what I sample I end up buying....hence the importance Sephora places on samples...nix the attitude and get the stocking issues together read more

I'm a huge Sephora buff so when i heard this one was opening (Stand alone, NOT JCPenny one) i got to it as soon as i could! Granted i went on a Tuesday early afternoon so it wasn't crazy but still had a great time! Constance whom my mom and i met in the face/body care area was super helpful and nice! She offered us samples of whatever we wanted! I ended up getting about 8 samples!! I was so surprised by this because most other Sephoras (stand alone and JCPenny ones) don't offer samples of things. You usually have to ask and almost beg. Not sure if this is a ploy to get me to spend money but damn it worked! Constance, was informative, no pressure and really friendly! She even got my mom to sign up for a Beauty Insider card which is something my mom wouldn't have done if it wasn't for Constance and her awesome and professional demeanor. The other girl who rang us up Kathleen was also very nice. She welcomed us when we first came in and was speedy when she rang us up. This Sephora isn't close to me at all ( I live in the Southbay) but between this one and the Manhattan Beach location i would do the drive to Culver City in a heartbeat! And i rarely ever go to this mall, so that's saying something! It was clean, easy to navigate through and overall a pleasure to be in. Even the other associates who weren't helping customers (there were only about 6 customers including us) were nice, cleaning and straightening the place out. Something you don't see very often in beauty stores anywhere! I ended up spending just over $100 for mom and myself. I came to the mall in need of my makeup done as quickly as possible for my appointment at 3:00 pm. First, I went to Lancôme to find out after 20 minutes, the makeup artist wasn't in. Then, I went to MAC, but they were all busy. I finally went to Sephora as my last attempt before doing my own makeup. I got there and asked an employee, Janine, if she could do my makeup really fast. She said it would take 15 min for eye makeup and about an hour for full face. It was 2:30 already so I settled for eye makeup only, since I can do my face makeup pretty well. She got my eye makeup done plus lipstick in less than 20 minutes!! And it was gorgeous! Janine is honestly a life saver! The only thing i had to pay for were the false lashes I used. Amazing job done by Janine. I highly recommend her and I'm planning to hire her to do my makeup for prom! read more

I came to this location and I was so excited because the VIB Rouge started today with the 20% off!... I picked a few items that I was waiting for the sale to begin, I went to the resister and I payed as I was leaving I noticed that the discount was not applied (I used my VIB Rouge card in my transaction). I go ask one of the employees and she pretty much told me that I had to let the cashier know that I was a VIB to get my discount (other Sephora's automatically apply it when I hand them over my card) I told her that I had given her my card and she said that I still had to let them know... (she pretty much blamed it on me) so she does a refund and then charges me again.. and now my refund is going to take up to 3-5 business days to process; worse customer service. read more

So this place is always ridiculously packed and probably slightly under staffed, the perils of having a store in a popular shopping mall after all. Overall though their staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and really super helpful when figuring out your proper skin tone and makeup shades with the little shade IQ machine they have. I definitely recommend baring the wait and allowing the artists to test the makeup you're considering on your before purchasing. Just a super convenient wy to ask questions, try a few things out, and make sure you're buying something you like verses making the trek back later having to return an item. Final Verdict: Eh, it's a makeup store. I'll be back when I run out of my Lauren Mercier and Marc Jacobs products for sure. read more

I was about to buy the fenty cosmetic. Until I noticed all the associates purposely avoided all the black women in there. Like purposely avoiding ALL Black women. I walked around for 15 mind with no help. One associate was soo rude, I was looking at the Sephora collection, he just walked in front of me with a customer. No "excuse me" or anything. Another associate was so damn rude, she blocked the whole fenty display, of course it was 4 black women standing there looking.When I told her excuse me, she looked at me up and down. After she helped the another lady with her transaction. She went back to standing in front of the display. I put down that foundation so quick. Thank God, an associate at E.L.F was helpful and suggested Ulta and yes I will be going to Ulta. I have never shopped at Sephora because I've heard they are not too particular about black people shopping in their store. Every black woman in that store had to ask for help, while other people were being greeted. I heard they get paid commission, that's even more of a reason to help everyone. You guys just lost a sale. Hello - this is a review for the artist during my custom makeover appointment I visited Sephora on September 8, 2018 for a 1:30 PM custom makeover appointment. This is my first time doing a customer makeover with Sephora so I was really excited about it. I am 29, filipino, black hair with olive skin. I was assigned to Annie (I believe that is her name). She greeted me and led me to our station. I told her I will be attending a wedding and want a natural look with slight enhancement on my eyes and light coverage. I showed her a picture of what I wanted. I also told her I am looking to purchase a tinted moisturizer after the makeover. During the session, she did not explain the products she was using on me or what she was doing. She did not feel welcoming, helpful, and seemed like she just wanted to get the job over with. I was not pleased with the results. I looked like a ghost at the end of the session. It looked nothing like the picture I showed her! I told her "I look really light/white" due to the foundation and other makeup she applied. She said "well it's the color that matches your neck." I wish she had asked me if the foundation color was okay before proceeding with the session. I also asked for light coverage and the makeup was just too much. After, she asked me "what would you like to purchase today?" and I said "I mentioned earlier I am looking for a tinted moisturizer so do you have any recommendations?" and her reply "Um.. well this is what I used on you." sounding annoyed and not wanting to help. I walked out very unhappy and dissatisfied with the results and the service. Overall, my experience was terrible. Thank you. read more

I came to get a makeover for a friends wedding and I had such a terrible experience. The girl who did my make up had terrible customer service, seemed annoyed through out the process and literally rushed thru the whole 2 hours. Which was supposed to be only 45 min but she kept doing my make up wrong she had to start all over. In the beginning I told her what I exactly wanted as a look and what colors i wanted her to use and it's like she didn't listen to anything at all. Left me looking like a raccoon I literally went to the wedding and redid my makeup myself from makeup I bought at rite aid. I usually get makeovers for special events since the ladies at Sephora are superb with their make up skills but not this one. Well the entire store was just plain negative, the black lady who arranges the makeover times and who does what makeup or whatever has a bad attitude and was bitchy as hell when I asked her a simple question. The rest of the girls there also seem mad and like they hate their jobs. In general all the people that work at this location are bitchy and have attitude. Seem bothered when you ask them for help. I will never come here and I already told friends and family not to shop at this Sephora. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

Being a VIB Rouge, I don't think I need to say that I'm a huge fan of Sephora. My actions speak louder! This location is probably one of the smaller ones I've seen. It doesn't carry as many brands, and the brands that it does carry don't have all the items they have online. With that said, I still go here often because it's close to me. The staff is very friendly. A few remember me now (because I go so often) and give me friendly greetings each time. This place is always well-maintained and clean, which is important for a makeup shop. The stations are well-stocked with makeup removers, pads, and such. I had one 45-minute makeover here. The lady who did my makeup was really friendly and gave me great tips. I wasn't completely satisfied with the way she did my makeup though but not everyone can do Asian makeup well (personal preferences). They are also great with returns. I've been to stores where the cashier glared at me when I brought returns. The cashiers here handled it very kindly and professionally. Since they encourage you to buy makeup and try it out at home, it's important to have returning as an option. They make that process really easy! I'd say the staff here is also pretty knowledgeable about the products and give great recommendations. read more

I used to go to Sephora at least twice a week-- working in beauty and also just liking to shop for new products. Here's the net-- Almost standard Sephora in the mall with same level of great service you expect. I usually will give most Sephoras five stars. Why the single star off? Why the "almost" modifier? Gripe 1: this location is small. I don't feel like I get everything or a lot to choose from. Finding my signature parfum, Hanae Mori, was tough. Gripe 2: there weren't a lot of stations with tissue, cotton swabs, etc. (related to gripe 1 Gripe 3: sometimes, it's dusty in here, on products, and on shelves Despite those three tiny gripes, I enjoy shopping here. 4 stars!!! read more

Came here on a Sunday and it was a little busy. I asked one associate for help but she completely ignored me. I was turned off so I was about to leave when Jasmin came up to me and asked if i needed help. I just wanted foundation. She helped me find the right color of foundation right away. I asked her advice about blackheads and a couple other things. She recommended a couple products to me which was helpful. I was impressed by how knowledgeable she is about skin care. Everything she explained to me about my skin and the products made perfect sense. So i ended up buying more than just the foundation. I had a great experience because of Jasmin. It is a small location, but luckily they had a section for first aid beauty which is why i came into the store. The lady helping me also gave me a free sample of the new first aid beauty mask (I never get free samples without asking for them at the 3rd street location). I've been to this Sephora location on multiple occasions and made several purchases. They carry a good selection of makeup brands. I made a trip to the store today and bought a mascara. The only thing I hold against the place right now is that they had some semi-dry liquid eyeliner testers out. I'd been looking for a waterproof eyeliner and after finding some I was disappointed to see that they felt like they were starting to dry up. I hope that Sephora staff make the effort to check for and replace makeup testers that are running low on product. read more

My go-to Sephora due to proximity to my office. The ladies and gentleman here are always friendly but not obtrusive--some recognize and greet me by name since I come so often! The store can get crowded (as can the whole mall) but the cashiers always keep the line running smoothly. Things are generally clean, in-stock, and where they are supposed to be. Sometimes the testing stations are short on kleenex, etc. but I can imagine it'd be hard for the staff to keep stocked with the volume they get! Parking at this mall stinks but it's not Sephora's fault. I'll keep coming back! read more

Love Sephora, hate this location. Their online system that indicates what items are in stock is mostly never accurate. I've come here on multiple occasions looking for items that were supposedly in stock to find none. Service and employees are sparse and dispirited. I don't think in all my years of going here I have ever been asked if I need any assistance or if I'm doing okay. During new releases and big sales, this place is a circus. Good luck trying to crawl over people to test the products or flag an employee down for help. The tester products they put out are usually so destroyed or dirty you can't even truly test the product. Way too hard to find some makeup remover and a cotton pad (which most Sephora locations put on every other aisle) to remove whatever products you tested. I'll stick to other locations. read more

Walked into Sephora yesterday hoping to walk out with most of the Dior make up line however , I walked out with nothing. I had to flag someone down to help me find the Dior makeup section but once I found it he quickly scattered away. Ok not a big deal. I then have to find him again and I asked if I could be matched for the products foundation. He informs me that he can't but radios someone who can . I walk back over and start looking at the products and selecting what I already knew I wanted. Many minutes later a woman walks up to me asking if I needed the match and I said yes and she says "someone should be coming". Long story short NO ONE CAME. First of all the store was a mess- the makeup samples were all FILTHY- covered with fingerprints and smudged makeup, and displays were all pretty disorderly. A handful of employees and NOT ONE asked if I needed anything help or even acknowledged me at all, the opposite of my experience shopping at other Sephora stores. Visited this location twice in one day and the service was drastically different. First visit was on my lunch break. I was dressed in formal dress attire. I was approached and helped promptly. The girl that helped was super sweet and recommended a few things I was looking for without being pushy. When I got home I realized I didn't like how I looked in one of the products in actual lighting not the store lighting. So I went back and returned it later that evening. Now I'm in leggings and a sweater. Messy ponytail. NOBODY approached me. Associates made eye contact and kept walking or talking. One even looked at me from head to toe and kept working.
