Giving 2 stars because no one outright insulted me in the times I've been here... I've been going to this Sephora for the past 5 years, when I first started wearing makeup. Sephoras are usually over staffed and helpful for this reason, but in the last few times I've been in here (3 times in 2 months) they've been way, way overly concerned with theft. I feel like I'm a suspect within minutes of walking inside. On top of that, the employees all seem on edge the last few times I was in there. I pretty much shop only at Sephora for makeup, and I'm partial to the online shop. Over the past year and a half I've shopped so much from this retailer in general that I'm VIB Rouge. I know probably too much about makeup and skin care (jk there's no such thing), but I mostly keep to myself when I'm in store and just go in if I want to compare two similar products irl. This Sephora location really sucks. How can you be so damn suspect of a person that is just keeping to themselves, swatching things, buying one, then leaving? The alarm goes on when I exit Sephora. One of the employees, she has blonde hair and big, the first thing she asked was "Did you pay for your perfume?" Tonight (8/14 around 6pm) I anxiously went in to this Sephora prepared to feel overwhelmed with all of the different products and leave empty handed. Luckily, the stars were aligned and I was met with some incredibly friendly and patient employees. I was looking to change my makeup routine, particularly I needed a new liquid foundation for my acne prone skin. From the moment I walked into the store to the moment I left, I was continually met with smiling staff asking if I needed assistance and letting me know they were there if and when I did (but not in the nagging annoying way that some businesses practice). I was finally set up with Destiny who alleviated my feeling of being overwhelmed. I explained to her what I was looking for and explained my skin type. She immediately knew the products that would work and took me over to each one, gently removed my makeup, applied the testers, and had me view the results in appropriate lighting. She did this for multiple foundations, and even setting powders. I left so satisfied with my purchases, thanks to Destiny. I also would like to mention that all of the other employees were so friendly, attentive and helpful. read more

Sephora is surely a favorite for anyone who likes beauty products - cosmetics, haircare, skincare, and perfume - because they carry top brands and you can get makeovers there. The merchandise is constantly changing, they have exclusives and they send catalogs and e-mails to tempt you. Plus there's the Insider program where you save points to earn free goodies and you get a free b-day gift. They have testers everywhere. Each location seems a bit different. Sephora Stonestown carries cosmetics from Nars, Fresh, Dior, Givenchy, Kat Von D (a newer line), Laura Mercier, Makeup For Ever, Bare Escentuals, Korres (also fairly new), Benefit, etc. Their house line of cosmetics, skincare and accessories is decent and reasonably priced. They had an item of the week by the register and when I was there, it was a sparkling gold Nars eyeshadow single called Silent Night (regular price $22, on sale for $9). What a steal! I love Sephora. I'm glad that they have one at Stonestown now. However, this location's customer service isn't that great. I was in there five days before my birthday, and I asked if I could have my Beauty Insider birthday gift. The guy that was ringing me up said, "Did you get an email?" I said, "No, but my birthday is next Tuesday." He said,"Well you have to wait for the email you get ON your birthday." In past years when I'd been shopping at the Sephora downtown around the holidays, the sales associate has always been the one to say, "Oh, i see your birthday is coming up. Let me get you your gift." The next day I logged into my Sephora.com account, and it says (and I quote): "During the two weeks before and after your birthday, place an online order or stop by a Sephora store* and we'll gift you with our Sephora brand Super Shimmer Lip Gloss *No purchase necessary to receive your gift in store." I was finishing up my Christmas shopping at Stonestown four days later and was buying some gifts in Sephora, and I again asked the associate who was ringing me up (different one this time) if I get my birthday gift (one day before my birthday). She said,"Well, the computer didn't prompt me, but I guess I can give it to you." WTF!? What's with all the attitude? It's very off-putting to go to a store that you normally enjoy shopping at and get treated like that. Note to the staff at the Sephora store at Stonestown: brush up on your customer service skills! So I see I'm not the only one who thinks their customer service needs improvement. 8/13/12 This is my first time in Sephora because I don't wear makeup. I have no idea how to even put anything on besides nail polish and mascara. My friend, J, is a makeup enthusiast and decides to bring me in to find a shade of foundation for my skin. J asks one worker if she could help us find a perfect shade. She has to call another worker to help us. Okay that's fine. So J is explaining to her " My friend here(me) is trying to find the right shade for her skin and which product would be best for her and blahblahblah" The employee says, "Well this shade is pretty close to her and blahblahblah.." and I say "Ooh yeah, that one is pretty close." And she says "Oh she talks? I thought she was mute." -____________- Uh, no, you did not just say that to me. GIIIRL, you do NOT say that to ANYONE. In case you've been napping for a few decades, Sephora is a CANDY store for the sort of woman who enjoys glamming up with skincare/make up/scents...and would NEVER consider leaving her house with wet hair in a ponytail (with a SCRUNCHY no less) and no make up! For one thing, you probably wont commit vehicular hari-kari like a person is oft tempted to do trying to park their car in Burlingame at any time for any reason! Sephora-Stonestown is in a mall with acres of parking/underground lot! 2nd of all, it's busy, but not PACKED to the gills like Burlingame or Downtown SF locations so you can most likely get some help with finding an item if it's not already jumping out at you! (The layout of this and frankly, all their stores, is pretty amazing..showcasing the goods in their most attractive light but also to make even a casual or first time visitor able to get in/get out with exactly what they want in record time! Which never happens for me personally...I'm seduced by all the colors and samples and smells and potions!) This locale has better lighting than Downtown...for some reason, it has this yellow hue that makes most look like they have hepatitis...or at the very least, the shade that looks great in the store looks wonky once you are back in "the real world" which can really ruin a girl's day...thinking you have pouty diva red lips and suddenly you're in magenta-ville because the evil lighting faked you out!! BOO!!!! Burlingame Sephora has ** great lighting** too, btw. The sales folk here are SUPER nice! AND very generous with the samples!! My fave selection of late?? The Sephora Fragrance Sampler...comes with 10 small vials of top selling fragrances, a gorgeous atomizer AND....a certificate for a full size bottle of whichever fragrance you liked best from the sampler once you've had a chance to try them all out, wear them, see which one is most divine and pleasing to the senses!!!! For $50.00!! Awesome for when you want to treat yourself to something OR if you're buying a gift for someone and you're not entirely certain which fragrance they would like best! WTF at people saying the service here sucks?! I'm by no means a regular, but once a month I mosey my glitter loving rearend in here and spend some cash money to cover up my mug. I'm always greeted by someone and they seem pretty friendly and welcoming enough to me! It might be because my daughter is so effing cute she just adorables the mean out of them, but I'll take it! Several of the pretty ladies approach me during my trips and ask if I need help or offer their opinion on a product I'm looking at. They compliment my purple hair and one associate even helped me find my didn't-know-it-was-my-favorite-yet mascara from Lancome, a brand I don't usually buy. HOOKED now, BTW. I once lusted after a glitter powder that was out of stock and they located it and had it put on hold for me at another location and a girl even showed me how to get points that another Sephora was too lazy to ring into my account. A few months ago I thought my daughter kicked her boot off in there and the entire staff scoured the store looking for it. Much to my embarrassment, the shoe was in the diaper bag the whole time. But they took the time to look and no one gave me the side eye or snark. Soooo...not sure why people are all bent out of shape, but I dig this place. First off, I am Sephora VIB. I'm not exactly sure what that stands for but just know that I spend a lot of scrilla there on a regular basis. When I walk into any Sephora, I don't necessarily need anyone to kiss up, check on me, ask if I need help. I'm well-informed on what product does what, what my options are, etc. I'm also confident enough to interrupt employees having side conversations to get help when I do need it. But why...are the employees here so rude? Not even aloof...just straight up bitchy and snooty. It's like, "um honey...we're at Sephora, not Neiman Marcus. And...remember, you.are.working." I walk in to spend money and when I want something I don't leave until it's in my hands, so honestly, I don't care. But employees, not beauty consultants or stylists, to put themselves on a pedestal are just annoying. Okay, no one say hello when I walk in. That's ok. Don't make eye contact because you don't want to be asked a question while you're having a riveting conversation with your counterpart, that's ok too. Everyone at this Sephora seemed to care more about looking at themselves in mirrors and reapplying makeup rather than helping customers! Even when I did get someone to help me, the answers were short, like they were too busy to help me when they were doing nothing! The only nice one was the red head at the cash wrap but other than that, everyone else was pretty unhelpful and rude. I shouldn't have to spend 15 min trying to hunt someone down to answer simple questions. If a customer looks inquisitive, go and help them! Stop looking in the mirror and being so vain... read more

Stop throwing money at them to treat your loyal customers like dirt. I was in the other day and the woman I asked for help from literally rolled her eyes when I said I needed help finding something and then turned on her heel and walked away after she pointed to it, without bothering to ask if it I needed anything else. She looked so upset that I'd politely asked her for some assistance. Mind you, I'd just overheard her spend the last ten minutes talking about skateboarding with another employee, so I'm pretty sure she wasn't in the middle of a project. No one else asked if I needed anything the rest of the time I was in there. This kind of service is unacceptable; sarcasm and apathy are a dangerous combination in customer service. Every single time I go into this store, they have 3-4 staff behind the counter just talking and no one working the floor, except for the rude girl at the door that rolls her eyes at people when they enter. The only time I have ever received "okay" service from this place is when they have staff from the downtown store come to help out! I went into this location for the first time since moving to the sunset and there was this girl named Alex at the front. I asked her for her opinion. That's it. Just her opinion and nothing else about blue mascara. She gave it to me and then in a pushy manner wanted to show me where it was. I have been a Sephora client for a long time, and when I said no that was ok, I just wanted your opinion, this Alex girl rolls her eyes and responded with whatever... because I would not let her show me the location of the blue mascaras when I only wanted her opinion. I thought to myself, "Wowww that was really rude... this girl has major attitude.." Then, I go and purchase my items and she happens to be ringing. I thought hey maybe she didn't like to greet and attempted to be nice but Nooo. As I tell her my e-mail for Sephora card, She types it in wrong and says in her attitude manner that she typed it right and she is not lying and maybe I said or wrote it down wrong... My reaction: Excuse me?? I get your emails and here is the proof (I show her my phone) and since it is my e-mail I would not get it wrong.." Then she was like: "Fine! Come type it in then!" I typed it in and it worked. Turns out this dumb girl Alex typed it in wrong and gave me attitude and was really rude about it. She didn't even apologize. She just went oops I thought it was something else... I say how about an apology for being rude and giving me attitude for YOUR mistake... Ughhh I've been to many Sephoras before and I even used to work for them on Union which is my favorite location because the service is WAYYYY BETTER but I never have been treated sooo rudely or so unprofessionally by anyone in my life! ** SOLELY BASING THIS ON MY LAST EXPERIENCE** So I am a VIB at Sephora which apparently means that you get certain perks & invited to special events. I wish I could say my last experience was that of a a true VIB. It was hardly that. I received an invitation to an event that Sephora was hosting on November 11th from 6 - 9pm. When you made a purchase you got a special little tote bag filled with extra special samples because you were a VIB. I love samples as I find they are perfect to travel with. I decided that I was going to be there at exactly 6pm to make sure they didn't run out. I plan accordingly knowing exactly what I want. My boyfriend and I get to the store at 6:04pm, he gets in line and I run to go get my makeup and meet him in the line. I am super excited and upon approaching the counter I hand the lady my little paper that says I am eligible for the Tote bag with goodies. It is now 6:15pm and she tells me they already ran out. Ran out in 15 mins?! Point #1: If you have a HUGE line of people who are there for makeup lessons, samples, a tote bag and you RUN OUT you should tell people so they don't sit in line only to find out you have run out. She is extremely rude as we ask to see a manager as I hear a few other people complaining about the same thing in line. She says something like the manager is busy. My boyfriend and I leave the store to cool down from the rudeness of the cashier. When we walk out we see a couple girls and ask them if they received the bag, they say no because they ran out. I ask them what they had gotten there to which they respond they had been there since before 6pm and saw no one leaving with any sort of "tote bag" A few moments later we decide to walk in and find the manager. She is at the register. We ask her if they are truly out of the gift bag, she says yes. We ask her how many gift bags they were and about what time they ran out. . She said they had ABOUT 200 bags to give out and they ran out about 10 mins after the start time of 6pm. Now I'm not mathematician but 200 bags in 10 minutes with 4 registers? Not possible. I notice she has 2 bins full of samples so I politely * with my last shred of patience* tell her that I made a purchase and received no samples as I normally do. She asks me for my receipt and says "well these samples are for people who spend 50$ or more, but I'll gladly give you one anyways" YOU STUPID BROAD. I take it and look at the tag attached to the Ziploc bag that says "thank you for being a beauty VIB" no where in the invitation does it say spend 50$ or over to receive samples or the tote bag. I read it, my boyfriend read it and each piece of paper that came with the invitation. I truly believe that the people at this Sephora were scamming people. As I have spent a lottttttt of money at Sephora I would expect some level of customer service and RESPECT at that. I received none. I have filed a complaint with their corporate office. For my birthday I was given a gift certificate to Sephora..I normally don't shop here but was excited to do a makeup application.. earlier this week I called this location and scheduled for 2 people ...the earliest and only time they had was 4 so I took it.. my friend who had recently lost her mother loves makeup and i thought this would be a good experience for her and to put a smile on her face boy was I wrong! to say I'm angry and disappointed is a understatement.. Now the actual day.... we were in the area so I suggested that we go in and see if they can take us early... there was a gentleman who asked for our names and what time we were scheduled for so he walked over to check which I thought was nice and a good customer service skill comes back and says that they can't accommodate us early..we both said that was fine and we would be back at 4 (that would of been the time to say we weren't on the list) carry on...... so the last place I want to be is the Mall Saturday before Christmas but we walk around to kill time..4pm comes along we go and check in and we are now told that our names aren't on any lists and to add insult to injury a girl named Alyssa comes over and makes statements like I must of called the wrong location and starts putting the blame on me...EXCUSE ME (mind you I checked my phone records and I called your location Tues so maybe the staff needs to be retrained) I will say that after no apologies they said they could see if someone from Christian Dior could help us but we would still have to buy the minimum of 50 in products... Okay so you dropped the ball on your end made no apologies and still continued to say we must of scheduled for another day/location..I've been in customer service for over 30 years and this situation was not handled well at all.. my friend and I looked at each other and walked out..we then walked to Nordstrom mind you where the customer service is on point (thank you Mariah) and between the two of us spent over 300. I've been to this Sephora location twice: I came back a second time because I hoped the first time I just got unlucky. Now I can confirm that this place has consistently bad customer service/ attention. I asked for assistance and I was told that the wait time was 45 minutes (it was busy, but not to justify such a long wait to ask about the shades of a lipstick). The second time I didn't ask, grab what I needed and went to the cashier. Since there were no tag prices on the stuff, I asked them. The service here sucks. This place needs to step up. For some reason, every time I come into this store, I always catch employees in the front talking to each other instead of greeting me. No one really asks if I'm looking for anything in particular. There's this one lady there that is totally unfriendly and unapproachable. The way she speaks, you know she needs to take a 101 course in Customer Service. She made me feel stupid, she looked pissed off at me for asking a simple question, and I knew she obviously didn't want to be there. I thought she was having a bad day, but I approached her on a different day months later (BY ACCIDENT, didn't recognize her because she grew out her hair) about a foundation product and she gave me that same rude attitude. read more

4 of the stars are for the girls who work there the last one is for the good stock they have of what I need. I come here probably once a week (that's how I became a rouge) but I always, always get my make up done and I've been a rouge for long enough that I've pretty much have had my makeup done by everyone there. I'm so much of a regular that if you're not a seasonal worker you know me by name by now -- that's how obnoxious my presence is in this store. My go to girl us Alex and I try to revolve my make up schedule around when she's working but the other girls who do amazing work on your face are Sim, Sylvia (who works like once a month now), kat, fuhar (spelling?), and Eva. Lexi who I absolutely adore isn't doing makeup anymore and is now one of the managers! P.s. the lines here are always long and they tend to be under staff so that's something they definitely need to work on as I hate waiting in that line. read more

Didn't even double check or offer to see if another store had it. Second time, I returned something and the guy was not polite at all and asked if I had tried on the product TWICE. As if I was lying. This place is usually a hit or miss for me. There are some really, really, REALLY nice employees here who are genuinely so kind and helpful, and I give them 5 stars. Sometimes this store gets crazy crazy busy, and I'm seriously impressed that they can keep smiling and being so nice after helping customer after customer! Unfortunately there are also some unhelpful employees who give off the vibe that they would rather not help you. Some employees are pretty snooty and not really humble at all. I think the most disappointing experience I've had however was one I had with this one gentleman. I wanted to try one of the lip mask products. I did notice that he seemed like he was either restocking products or making sure that the samples had enough product left inside. Either way, he looked busy, so I asked him if I could ask him a question about the lips masks, and he said sure. He didn't stop doing what he was doing, which I found off putting. I asked him which he found the most popular out of a certain brand, and he said "either one of those" without really looking up. I nodded and awkwardly inspected the lip masks, and asked him if I could get a sample for one of them. He told me that he didn't recommend it, and that I should just buy it and return it if I don't like it, since he told me that people put their fingers in it all day. I did appreciate the honesty, but that statement combined with the fact that he wouldn't look up while talking to me just made me feel awkward, like he didn't want to help me at all. I've had other experiences where employees greet me and ask me if I need help cheerfully, but once I say I do they start giving off a weird vibe, as if they don't really want to help, and lose their cheerful attitude and smile. It's really off-putting. Overall I like this store since their stock is pretty great, but I wish some of their employees were a little but more accommodating. Do you Sephora? Sell for who? Such excitement over a cosmetics store, grand opening banners plastered all over Stonestown. How could you miss it even with a seeing eye dog? Even 'tho I've been in a Sephora store before, my curiosity got the better of me after a lovely morning of shopping at the annual Nordstrom's sale, and I had to venture in to meet the new kid in the mall. Gotta put in a plug for beloved Nordie's where the handbag lady, Helen, is a Godsent. Ask for her if you're shopping for a new bag. Friday is a weekday and summer is here so what do I behold at Sephora but a barage of teeny-boopers in the store, getting free make-overs for their youthful, fresh, elastic, wrinkle-free, nubile faces. Why? I ask myself. These young girls look lovely enough but they want to cake on layers of pore-plugging cosmetics to look like a Geisha? I trot over to the Bare Escentuals section to price their 0.42oz of Mineral Veil (finishing powder) and I vaguely recall (Alas, senior moment) it was $18, which is 1 dollar less than at the BE store. Sephore sells one other - the glittery veil but the BE store has 4, including their new moisturing one. The lady standing next to me was grabbing 4-5 containers of BE products, brushes, and eye make-up. The store basically looks like their Downtown mothership store with lots of lights in the background and stark black labels, signs and employees in black attire. Side walls full of name brand fragrances overwhelms you. The whole store is overwhelming with the sheer volume of products. I'd have to say the salesgirls were much friendlier than the ones at the BE store. You love costmetics for your nubile face? Then you have to come visit Sephora. (sell for eye?). read more

THANK YOU STONESTOWN! No more trips all the way downtown to the only other Sephora I know of in SF! I'm so thrilled that I can drive to the closest mall to my house and now stock up on all my essentials at this new Sephora store on the 2nd level. It's right next to Gap and near the food court so be sure to drop by :) It's not as large as the store downtown but it still holds a wide array of makeup, tools, lotions, hair products, perfumes, and etc. You'll find all your favorite items from Sephora at this very store. The brands range from Dior, to Urban Decay, Bare Escentials, YSL, to their own Sephora brand makeup and tools. My favorite?? They have some of their top selling products in a smaller size (therefore smaller price tag) surrounding the cash register line. When I don't want to spend too much for some of my favorite product or to try out something new, I just get the miniature version from this area. I racked up 100 Sephora Beauty Insider points from the items I bought so my chosen complimentary gift today was a mini Make Up For Ever HD Primer. Wonderful! Definitely sign up for the Sephora Beauty Insider card to rack up points and get little free gifts too. Don't worry boys ;) there are plenty of other girls boyfriends wandering aimlessly around the store pretending to be on their phone or looking bored as well. Customer service is HORRIBLE. My sister and I were trailed around by a high-pitched sassy ass male and he watched our every move. (I suspect it was because we were young. For your information, I work hard for my money and have two jobs, thank you very much.) We were walking around the store and testing out products for about 45 minutes. He told his co-worker, "Oh, they're martini shopping?" and she just laughed and agreed. Obviously if we don't find anything we like, we won't buy it. Duh, that's common sense. We may be picky buyers, but that doesn't give him the right to judge us and talk shit about us behind our backs. We were so uncomfortable and this has never happened to me at this Sephora before. Congrats, you just lost yourself a customer. To Sephora management: I think you need to thoroughly check your worker and brush up his customer service skill or hire someone new who will be more productive and courteous. Extremely upset, 10/17/18, I'm just walking out of the store now, I've asked 3 separate individuals for help since the item was not on the shelve besides the testers, two gentleman and a Filipino lady. All informed me that they'll help me and to wait in the back. I stood in the back for over 15 minutes, still with no one that came to help me. As I walked out, the two gentleman whom I had asked for help was just standing there at the door conversing with each other and didn't even apologize! Taking my business elsewhere. I wouldn't think to leave a review on a Sephora typically, however, the service I received was subpar. I actually really like the selection of this Sephora (they had a Huda Beauty palette that's been sold out at other stores). I received adequate service from one female associate with dark hair who helped me quickly pick out an alternate shade of foundation since my usual shade was sold out (thank you!). One male associate answered my question but didn't even look up as I approached him and made me stand there a while before saying "yes?". Make your customers feel invisible, I guess. Upon checking out, the cashier was pushy, rude, and rushed me every step of the process. I didn't catch her name but she was on the petite height-wise and had vibrant yellow eyeshadow. The employee asked me if I needed a bag and as I was opening my mouth to answer, cut me off and said "yeah, you do". Okay, I bought a bit of merchandise so I can go with that. Scanned my items and asked for my number, but when I went to ask her if I was to put it in the keyboard/card scanner, she rudely said, "No, I do it on this side". Alright, chill with the tone. Then she hurriedly mumbled if I would like a receipt printed or emailed, and when I asked her to repeat herself, she gave me a look of annoyance and unnecessarily raised her voice. She was not even knowledgable of the sample she gave me which was apparent when she struggled to read the word "Origins" from the label and hastily said "bye" so she could move on to the next customer. I understand that it's tedious to work in a mall with predominantly younger customers (high school and college nearby), but that does not mean that the associates should be lacking manners or rushing their customers in any way, especially when I'm buying a lot of product. I'll opt for other Sephoras. Until then, work on customer service at this store. read more

First, I heart Sephora. I love to go and am always shopping online. Even though I live closest to this location I usually shop at the one in Cow Hollow. After my visit yesterday I will continue to do so. This is the worst Sephora I have ever been to. I had no idea that was possible. The young male who "greeted" me when I walked in the door reeked of attitude and arrogance. I'm sorry, who made you King of Sephora? Sorry kid, at the end of the day you might be working at a nicer retail store, but it's still retail. He followed me and looked down on my ever move. I finally ditched him only to go to the counter to make my purchase to find him there gossiping with the checkout girl. So high school. I don't need to hear drama while I shop or wait until you're done telling your story to get my one item rung up. Thank you to the woman employee who said goodbye as I left, you were the most professional person working in the store. At least she was pleasant and had a genuine smile. read more

I vowed not the write a review on another Sephora but Sephora and I were reunited again at Stonestown. I have been away from you for three weeks now but we both know it was just a matter of time before I came back to you. And that day has come. Yes, my girlfriend needed to get a back-up for her Urban Environment ..... Shiseido sunscreen. I tried to remember what it's called but the name is too darn long. Unfortunately, they did not carry the sunscreen she wanted. This is the worst news because now I have to find a distraction while my girlfriend leisurely peruses the rest of the store. So I walked up and down the aisle and noticed that they are fairly well-stocked, even compared to the one on Powell street. There aren't as many brands and the space is smaller but most of the items were available, which surprised me. I enjoyed this Sephora because it was so quiet and peaceful. Everyone is doing their own thing and the workers were relatively hands-off. But all of this only held my attention for a minute. Thank God for Apple right downstairs. read more

I love Sephora. It's fun to play around with the various samples of different brands in the store. But I was on a mission. Not for myself or the BF, but a present for a friend who was allergic to a lot of things. I was on a mission to find some makeup/skincare gift package that she wouldn't be allergic to. One of the girls was super helpful. I think I got one of the nicest ones in the store judging from all the other reviews. But she helped me with the organic makeup section and she knew her stuff. I asked about Korres and a few other brands and ended up with Korres since they had a cute gift package that didn't contain any red dyes. Thanks for the wonderful experience! read more

First of all, this Sephora is at Stonestown, which means free and plentiful parking. As a driver in San Francisco, this fact alone deserves a star. This location is smaller and there is much less foot traffic compared to the flagship downtown. I feel less stressed out here, meaning I can calmly browse the products and hone in on what I need. I don't have to worry about bumping into people or looking like a lost puppy due to the store's size. Skin care, makeup, hair products...they have it all, and in all the brands that you expect at Sephora. They also carry Bumble and Bumble products, which are not easy to find in non-salon shops. Now I don't have to order directly from Bumble and instead, just go to the mall for my hair product fix. Happy girl. Floor staff, both guys and girls, is friendly and helpful without being intrusive. They let you know they're available to help and then politely let you browse. The female cashier who took care of me was particularly informative and nice, characteristics that cashiers at other Sephoras rarely exhibit. read more

I like other sephora locations. This one is missing that whole service concept in 'customer service' & missing many simple items. You don't need to kiss my @ss but you also should not be gossiping about some random hookup when I'm patronizing your store at your counter nonetheless. Trashy. Manners are missing. Sadly, some females don't know how to keep their personal business personal. It taints our gender's rep. Stonestown Galleria was great when I was, say 15. Not a fan indoor malls anyway. Will stick to the nice helpful & more mature staff @ the Sephora locations in Burlingame & Stanford. Don't bother here. I cam here to return something and was told Sephora changed their return policy to 60 days IN JUNE 2020, meaning during the pandemic and was not able to accept my return or exchange. I have passing by Sephora stores many times but because the lines were always long and I wasn't aware of the policy changes so I thought I still have to time return. They cannot accept my return which is 2 DAYS late ( purchased on 09/06 and try to return on 11/08). Sephora, if you change your return policy you should give customers some buffer time to be aware of the new policy, as not everyone buy something and immediately go to your website and read the return policy every time, not like "hey, we changed our return policy 3 months ago and you are 2 days late, there is nothing we can do about it". And to be clear I was ok with store credit but the SA still said NO. The SA that helped me (African American with braided hair) said she is the manager when I asked to speak to the manager and said she cannot override the system. I dont believe a big brand like Sephora would have that kind of customer services to their customers (Im a VIP rouge) so I went to another Sephora in valley fair and was able to get a store credit. The SA at valley fair was reasonable when I explained the situation. So if you get a bad service at stonetown, please go to another store! Im for sure will not give my business at this store ever again! read more

Purchased a lipstick on November 7th and when got back to my car, it was broken into. I guess this was a sign not to shop there. Long story short, I came in yesterday, January 7th to return that lipstick. It was 2 moths later and apparently, it was not within their 60 day return policy, but 61 days since December had 31 days. The girl asked me if a store credit was ok and I said that I'd like it back to my card, but she still issued a store credit. This is so lame. Why would I ever bother to shop there again? It's not like I can't get the same stuff at Nordstrom or Saks? Better service anyway and don't let me start on a return policy. Amazing how rigid Sephora is. read more

Wanna know how long it has been since I've been to Stonestown? Since last Christmas. And to my surprise - there's a Sephora there now! Woo hoo! I HATE going to the one in downtown SF, because it's so crowded all the time. This one is smaller - but it has everything I need. Really nice sales folks, good selection of everything I use and more. I'm not a make-up junkie, but this place will definitely satisfy the itch. Love that it's at Stonestown because I can make it part of my one stop shopping day. Store is clean, product placement is perfect but I'm so upset that they stopped selling Soap and Glory products in their stores :( I never bought much of their products anyways but their lip balm was my holy grail of lip balms and now I have to purchase them online #sadface read more

I ended up here because the Sephora closest to me didn't have a particular foundation in stock. So I called ahead and asked them to put it on hold for me and then they promptly hung up on me. They didn't take my name, number, or any kind of identifying information so naturally I was a little bit worried that the item I wanted could potentially sell out -- after all, it's sold out at my local shop and online. But yeah, so I ended up rushing here. I get the foundation but I wanted to make absolutely sure that this was the one that was right for me so I had to interrupt the sales associates conversation in order to get help. The sales associate helps me out and tells me I've got the wrong colour, advises me to grab a lighter colour then bounces. Didn't ask me if I has any additional questions (which I did) and left before I could even say "Wait!" Maybe I'm spoiled because my local Sephora is great to me and have helped me with everything and are attentive. This location? Yeah, not so much. I wandered around the store for a bit before just deciding to grab the things I needed and saving questions for another location. I've had much better service at a Sephora so I'm not sure what the hell is going on at this place. read more

Went to the mall on 10/28/20 late afternoon, around 6, because I needed new eyeliner. Store only had a few people in it, but the entrance was blocked off. Their was an employee outside talking to their friend. I got in line to get in the store, but I wasn't sure was was going on so I asked the employee outside if I could go in. Haven't been to a makeup store since before quarantine so I wasn't sure if there was a new way of doing things. She looked at me up and down, scoffed and said "I'm with someone right now". Then she turned around and kept talking to her friend that was obviously not there for makeup. She was no rude for no reason, so I just left and didn't even go in the store because I felt embarrassed. She was a small women with ombré hair. Not coming back. read more
