I usually have good experiences here FOR THE MOST PART, meaning not all the time but the good outweighs the bad. Today I came to this location to purchase some Chance Chanel perfume. I immediately went to the perfume section and scanned the perfumes and did not see any Chance perfume at all. I was there last Saturday and saw it so that was a little odd. Before I could ask for assistance, here comes some female asking do I need help. I told her I was looking for Chance and she told me they were remodelling the Chance selection (Yea right!) and they were all in the back and if I knew which one I was looking for she could bring one out as they were not any samples available. (Who asked her about samples??) I told her I would need to see them first and she made up some excuse of them being in the back in bins. So I told her nevermind and I got on my phone to research which one I wanted exactly (theres a variety of them which was a little confusing. I knew it was the pink one I wanted but even then its two different kind). She made no effort to explain the two or any of them for that matter. After determining which one I wanted, I asked another employee for the perfume and she went to the girl who initially "helped" me (or lack thereof) and started explaining to her what I wanted as if she was somebody. I was confused as to why she couldn't just go get the perfume from the back so I could go on about my business. I just didn't like the vibe I was getting from the first employee so I ended up going to Macy's to get the perfume where I was treated like a paying customer and not like a thief. I then went back to Sephora to show them I got it elsewhere (pretending to look at makeup) and once again, here comes that employee again asking did I want her to bring out the perfume. I kept it polite and told her no. HELL NO is what I wanted to say in addition to alot of choice words but I didn't. I won't be so polite next time if I'm treated like that again. read more

When I go to Sephora I usually have one or two things I need to get, but Sometimes make up shopping can be your personal time for yourself and get away from everything, or sometimes it's nice to actually look around, to see if you want to try new make up. I actually felt REALLY uncomfortable shopping here. Right when I walk up to a product they ask if you need help then right after she leaves another one comes and they keep coming by to check if you're stealing or not. I felt as if they were breathing down my neck. When I grabbed I blush I been wanting but I kind of wanted to look at the product more because they had a whole collection a lady was watching me from behind the make up stand and just started a conversation Just to see what I grabbed and went back to where she was. This is not the only time with this Sephora but this just recently happened and I was really upset that I didn't feel comfortable enough to shop. I actually used to be excited to shop look around and discover new make up at Sephora but I can't do that anymore. Don't get me wrong- I love Sephora. Hey, I am a typical girl who loves hair, make up, purses, and clothes. You can't go wrong with Sephora- BUT the customer service here is so so. I once ordered some Peter Thomas Roth powder sunscreen. I didn't like it, so I ended up returning it a week after I purchased it. I've never had a problem returning exchanging items at the Valley Fair location- but one sales girl at this particular Sephora decided to be a B about it. The reason why I was exchanging it was because it was one shade darker than my skin tone. She tested it on her own hand- and said "its invisible." I replied, "its too dark for me." She just gave me a nasty look- and processed the return without saying a word. She treated me as if she was giving me a return from her own pocket. I am an honest customer, and it would be nice to be treated with respect...thanks! read more

Every sephora in general sucks ass. I literally walked around the store for about 15 mins waiting for someone to ask me if I needed help and did I get help? Nope. I had to go and ask because everyone was to busy talking to each other. She comes and with no energy what's so ever she puts on lines of foundation and tells me to pick which one I wanted? Like okay. Manager is a complete stuck up lady . I asked for help and she was so rude didn't even want to help me out they thought me and my boyfriend were going to steal the whole time which WAS NOT the case . I'm a make up addict so why would I steal and burn myself at a place I love. One of the Anastasia pallets were completely destroyed and my boyfriend opened the package to help me see the actual colors bc the display was disgusting and the fat lady who worked over there comes over really rude " DO YOU NEED A SAMPLE?" And my boyfriend was like no she just wanted to see the colors because everything looks nasty and she had a discussing attitude. And then my boyfriend wanted to by me the orgasm blush from nars and asked " hey are there anymore of these ?" And the manager goes " no there's none " extremely rude and walks away so I walk over to the nars section after being told extremely rude there wasn't none and would you look at that there is some left. Your so worried bout stealing but yet I drop over $230 on your store . Poor customer service and I sweat I thought Sephora was supposed to have girls work there that know make up a lot of them didn't even know how to blend foundation or what shades go with what. This was my go to Sephora for years! I love the size of this store along with the product the carry. I have never had an issue with the staff intact they were very typically pleasant and informative on products. So quick to give me samples and recommendations. The shorter hispanic girl with teased hair was always my favorite! She always had a full face on and she knew so much of variety of product. She even did my make-up once for my birthday. I never left disappointed! I recently moved closer to the Burlingame location. Let me tell you the employees are so rude, hesitant to give samples and if you come in with no make up on and in sweats be prepared to receive a handful of attitude! Seems lately they are sold out of many products since Christmas .... here we are in April now. The associates on the sales floor are usually helpful and friendly, but that is not always the case with the cashiers. Once in a while I get someone less then friendly, but that happens sometime, so that wouldn't keep me from shopping there. I popped into the Oakrdige Sephora today to try to find a new foundation. I wandered around the store for a bit before I caught the attention of a staff member who was prompt in finding me a makeup artist to help me chose something. So far, so good. After explaining that I wanted, I got exactly what I didn't want (a heavy foundation look with a matte finish). The foundation color was decent but only after the application of a green powder which made the look too heavy. When I mentioned that it was too powdery, the "artist" didn't offer up any alternatives. Nada. Nothing. So I ended up buying nada and will continue to buy nothing at the Oakridge store. I am disappointed because I looooove Sephora (it's he Happiest Place on Earth!) and have never had a bad experience at any store location or online until now. read more

I always go to this sephora when I get off work because it's so close by. Came today just tog at my sunblock I usually buy. So I went directly to that spot and I saw a box that looked like it had been tampered with and I didn't really want that because I was afraid it was a return or some thing. So I went to this one associate that was working right next to the skincare section. I politely asked her if she had anymore of the item left somewhere. She was a Hispanic associate that looked like I was taking up her time by asking that question. Honestly the look she gave me made me really just want to throw that box of sunblock I was holding in her face. So I asked her and she just opened the bottom shelf with her foot and said no more sorry. I was thinking to myself like are you serious. If you hate your job so much or you're having a bad day, just fake it at least so you won't have customers like me reviewing your store. I was very disappointed for the first time in this store. That associate or whoever she is really needs to be put in her place. Next time I got back to that store and see her, I will write her name down on here! Why can't this store just ever get it right! Every time I ask for help in this store the employees act like I am bothering them or they talk over me while they are on their headsets. It's so rude!!! I try avoiding them now. But the day before I was color matched and it wasn't in stock. The employee offered to pre order it for me. I went home to try out the sample first. Called the next day and inquired about preordering. The girl that answered said I would have to come in person to pre Oder can't do it over the phone. And yes I called the right location. I came to this Sephora on September 24th 2015 at about 3:30 to get makeup for my wedding that was the following week. When I came in not only was I not greeted, I couldn't find anyone to help me. When I finally found someone I asked if she was busy helping someone and she smugly said no. Then I told her I was getting married the next week and I really needed help because I don't often wear makeup and don't know much about makeup. She just looked at me and rudely said "so what do you want? " I said I needed to even out my skin, whatever or takes. She then said she could color match me with a device that does an exact match to my skin, then she rolled her eyes and walked over to the do-hickey. She said it wasn't charged, and I said okay I'll just come back. After shopping around the mall I came back hoping to find someone else. Again, no one helped me and that same lady saw me and then avoided eye contact with me. I couldn't believe it! I almost started crying when I left. I really needed help and was treated so poorly. Needless to say in the end MAC ended up taking great care of me and I spent over $200 on makeup there that I was willing to spent at Sephora. Awful experience. read more

This sephora is so much better than the valley fair location. The staff is so much more friendly and helpful than the valley fair location.

I really like this location because the shop itself is big, but never too packed like the one at valleyfair. The people working there will help you if you need it, but they will never bother you. If they see you doing just fine, they'll leave you alone which I really like. I hate other places where the hover you and keep talking to you but maybe that's just me... overall, they always are in stock here whenever I come which is nice! read more

Worst shopping experience i've ever had; yesterday i was there for 15 minutes with my cousin and my brother, and not once did anyone offer us any help. two of the employees made eye contact with me and i smiled but they just ignored me and walled away to cheerfully ask two white women if they needed any help when they walked in. i work in retail as well and to be honest i know that when a customer walks in with expensive clothing you create the stigma that they will be more likely to spend, but neither did me or my other family members (who also noticed this besides me) wore anything that you could consider bummy or "ghetto": we wore clothing similar to those white women so there is no way where you can insinuate a loophole where you can blame "an issue on appearance" this is never okay to treat people of color. im honestly disgusted with what happened and i'm never returning to this store again. i'm 18 and for me to write a review like this should NEVER happen. read more

Every time I go in this store they throw my drink away. Every time. We are at drink #3 this week. I go to Teavea buy a frikin $6 tea and like its no big deal, someone at Sephora tosses it out. I cant try on makeup and hold a drink in my hand. First time this happened I made a big deal and insisted she give me back my drink. She said oh sorry to late it is in the trash...I was like dig it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No can do. I would have taken it back to Teava and explained what happened for a replacement but I would of at least needed to have the "damaged cup/drink" to give back.....Last time I was like oh fricken great. The drink was so hot I had put it down, so the person who tossed it knew it was fresh but didn't give a crap. Why? becasue no one does anything about it and its not their $6 tea. Right? Maybe I've been lucky all those times I've been inside because I don't feel the pressure I've felt at the Vally Fair store. I came in yesterday to exchange a foundation I had bought. The first time I came in before this, I wasn't greeted by anyone, and even though I looked completely lost, no one seemed to show interest in helping me.. So I had to figure this out on my own. I ended up buying a foundation that didn't match my skin tone, so I went back in hopes of someone being able to help me there. I was surprised to be greeted by multiple different people, but I thought I would be able go handle myself so I opted out of having help from them. A few minutes passed and I decided, I did need help. I looked around for an employee and eventually found Briana, and asked her if she could color match me. She lead me over to where they try things on you, I had a seat, and we got started. I have never had such great customer service at any other make up counter. She suggested different brands, tried two different foundations on each side of my face so I could see the difference, and was super fun to talk to. I ended up exchanged my Laura mercier foundation and powder for smash box (which is what she was wearing and i loved how it looked on her) Briana even gave me samples of two different primers to try. Who doesn't love free stuff? Anyway... To end this book of a review, Briana totally changed my attitude and outlook toward this particular sephora. I had a wonderful experience and because of her, I will be back. read more

Sephora is my preferred beauty source. Love the rewards program and the VIB goodies. But the sales associates tend to not acknowledge me. I don't know if it's because I still look young and assumptions are being made about what I could or could not afford OR if it's because I don't look like I wear a ton of makeup. I do the basics and some contouring, but nothing MAC or drag level. (The latter is no way intended as an insult. RuPaul's Drag Race fan here.) Whatever. Also, this is a general complaint that's not specific to this location, but I think it's lame that you don't get VIB points on gift card purchases. I'm still spending my money at Sephora, so why the heck not? But to end this on a positive, Alex the sales associate who rang me up was nice. This store is a bit smaller than the Valley Fair location, but you know what, the atmosphere is waaaaay friendlier. The staff here are actually sweet, helpful, and actually care about what you are interested in. They remember you, ask how your past purchases are working out, and offer to make samples of anything I want. No one hovers around me if I'm just browsing, but if I have a question on a product, they're more than willing to stop what they're doing and assist. And if I return any items that didn't work out, there are no questions asked, no condescending looks or attitude. That goes a long way in where I shop for my cosmetics, since I probably drop a few hundred bux a month there. read more

This Sephora is alright, besides coming here to get your perfect color match and the makeup itself the service does lack. This place is filled with your typical girls, the cocky ones that is. I have way too much makeup (but never enough) so at times I do hate coming here just to get some new items on my wish list or the same eyeliner I'm obsessed with. Whenever employees are slacking off (not makeup related) and there's plenty of people looking for one of them they give you these stares like they're part of some weird cult. It's odd but guess it's just the cocky wannabe know it all females that work there, I've had great experiences with very very few employees, sad I know.
