i am so sick of being suspected of shoplifting. everytime these people think i'm shoplifting or something, they hand me a freaking "sephora basket" and was like " a basket for you to put your items in" like, are they stupid? way to be freaking subtle. i saw a redhead talking into her speaker staring at me going like "this girl has YSL in her hands and she's been staring at them for a while now, i think shes gonna steal them" or something along those lines cause a minute later when im on the other side of the room, some SA gives me a basket to "put my YSL in"... i'm so pissed at this crappy staff. i was also outright wrongfully accused of stealing a benefit benetint bottle and they even asked me to open my bag. thats against my legal rights and i'm sorry but i hope that black girl gets fired. i coulda gotten her ass fired right that minute by asking for the manager. the next time i face this kind of atrocious behavior from the SA's. i'm seriously going to act on it and get at least one person fired. no one screws with me. read more

Worker lady named Vanessa accused my friend of attempting to steal a brush when we were simply looking around and holding our items and finding another of the brush since ours did not have a tag. I'm giving Sephora 5 stars! It seems the one complaint is with the employees. Yes, they do follow you around alittle too much, but they've all been nice to me. I don't think they follow you around and ask you if you need help because they feel you are stealing (unless of course, you are), but it seems there are quite a few of them with nothing really to do. One lady in particular has always been nice to me and my boys (older lady with short brown hair). She gives them samples of their favorite Philosophy body wash. I actually feel more bothered by Department Store employees (Macy's, Nordstrom etc.). Sephora has everything you could possibly need. The only bad thing are the prices, but that's not Sephora's fault, that's our fault for spending $22 on mascara...really, shame on us! This is not a place for kids since you can sample all the makeup, it's like a candy store to a 3 and 5 yr. old (boys even). They walk out looking like the Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran. I don't think you can really walk out of there spending less than $200. It's exciting until you get home and realize you only got 4 things for $200! And when you have time to spare, you can go online and look over their website, which sells a trillion times more things! Whenever I walk into Sephora, I'm always greeted and offered assistance no matter how busy the store is. But this time, I experienced superior service by the sales rep Jade. As I was standing in line at the register with the sales rep Jade yesterday, I noticed and experienced how unbelievably warm and friendly she was. She went above and beyond for myself and the customers in line (ahead of me). Her customer service was impeccable and I look forward to going back to Sephora with wonderful sales reps like herself! Gosh, why does this Sephora have 4 stars?! It's just OK, not great. It's such a small store, first of all. It's also not particularly clean and organized, unfortunately. Plenty of icky tester items, if not missing. The customer service is hit or miss. One of the girls was helpful to me without being smothering; she went to the backroom to look for an item for me that was from the last holiday season. The other girls are either so harried or aloof. sephora valley fair, I WORK THERE!!!!! ok people... so our job is to HELP YOU! We are required to help and greet every single person we see. So if you walk in through the front the employee closest to the enterance will ask you if you need help. Then when you make your way to the middle of the store someone who didnt see you walk in will ask you if you need help. Then when someone comes back from their break who is seeing you for the first time is gonna ask you if you need help. We don't do it because you get on our nerves as much as we do you. WE do it cuz ITS OUR JOB! Just so you know.... Not all of us are experts at everything in the store. Meaning.... we have specific people who designated to certain areas of the store according to their expertise. WE have skincare experts, color ( makeup) experts, fragrance experts, and cashiers. If you are looking for great makeup DONT ASK someone in skin! IF you need great skincare, dont ask someone in fragrance!!! GET IT? I've read tons of reviews about you all complaining how we don't know what we are doing and blah blah blah.... To make it easier for you ask the employees what area they specify in. Or ask how long they have worked there. That usually has a lot to do with them providing you with the right product or color for your skin. If the employee hasnt been there long, then I suggest you ask someone else. Imagine all the miliions of things we sell at sephora. Then imagine trying to remember every single product and what the ingredients are and what the history behind it is, and what makes it better or worse than the same product from a different brand, and what skin its great for, and what color eyes it would look best on, and so and and so on. I guarantee that you wouldnt remember everything. SOOOOOO...my point with that is.... new (er) employees dont have as much knowledge. JUST ASK PEOPLE!!!! this will avoid you having terrible experiences. If you need your makeup done ask someone who's makeup looks good. Chances are they are a color expert and not a cashier who is just covering a break for someone who will match you to a wrong foundation color or make you look like the grudge instead of giving you a smokey eye!!!!! Most of our regular clients get and understand the world of sephora. Thats why we LOVE YOU!!! We are a very busy store with very saavy employees who know what they are talking about. So i was doing some Christmas shopping earlier this week at Valley Fair and I was optimistic as I was able to find parking right away. Of course, though I only live five minutes away from the mall, the motherf'ing retards who swarm to this place like bees returning to the hive, prevented me from getting here for an additional fifteen minutes, and I thought that was absolutely incredible. Anyways, I started wondering around, a list in hand, searching for my first destination. I reached Sephora and starting walking around, confused as hell, searching for Shampoo for my mom. Why is it that women have the absolute necessity for that one shampoo/conditioner? I believe it is all a conspiracy that Vidal Sassoon has concocted to get people to buy more hair products..Regardless, aimlessly wandering around, this nice employee saw that I was floundering and offered assistance. Not only did she show me what I was looking for, but she showed me something better and cheaper that was actually the best stuff they had...That was great..As someone who makes a living out of telling people what to get and what is best, its reassuring to know that Sephora wasn't trying to gouge me. I thought that was cool...Though I am not sure how Shampoo/Conditioner/Detangling Mist (fucking hilarious) for 75 bucks isn't gouging...It didn't matter, I walked out of there happy and thankful...Overall 4 stars! i like the idea of sephora.....getting to try any product before you buy it...how could anyone complain about that? but the customer service at this particular store is terrible! i kept going back over the last two years, thinking that it would be better, but i was continually disappointed. the staff were often rude and/or clueless about the products they sell. oh, and they don't always honor the return policy that is printed on their receipts (which i just found out recently when i tried to return a $52 product that sucked). read more

This is my favorite spot for cosmetics. Whenever I need perfume, skin care, teeth care, anything cosmetic I always come here first. I enjoy coming in here and looking at the variety of brands of cosmetic and perfume that they carry. The workers are always very friendly. They always come up to me and ask me if I need any help. If I need any help they never hesitate to answer my questions and give me samples to try. I also like their rewards program. For every dollar you spend you earn 1 point. So if you buy a lot from them you can earn enough points to get free cosmetic items. The return policy is good. If you don't like what you bought you can return it for a full refund or exchange it with something else. I've never had a bad experience with them. The only downside is that its always really crowded inside. read more

I'm make-up illiterate and sometimes I need the associate's help but every single time I am there, it always fails me. I usually spend at least 30 minutes at that store because I can't make up my mind since I don't really know what to do with it. I understand that customer service might not be a big deal to them since they have plethora of merchandise that sells itself but if I am going to spend at least 100 dollars here every time, I want to be noticed at least. I don't even ask for samples because I JUST DON'T. It's not like I'm going to waste their time asking them questions and not purchase anything. I REALLY NEED HELP! Instead, I just go online and look for the things I want and just grab it and go. Every time I go, I always see the guy that seems irritated about his job. I understand that working in retail isn't a career but it's still a job that you need to do or else don't bother at all. Everyone has to pay bills and despise our jobs but we still do it. Other than that, I like their beauty insider giveaways. I just reached their V.I.B. which means I spent at least more than $350 dollars the whole year.. just for make-up products that I hardly use. Service is practically nonexistent in this store. My friend and I walk into the store and were greeted with a "hi," but the girl who greeted us didn't even smile and looked like she didn't want to be there. We walked around the store for about 30 minutes. I needed a new foundation and my friend was looking for a lipstick. There were many employees working, but no one came up to us to ask us if we needed help or had any questions, and all employees were too difficult to track down. We finally got an employee's attention, but she stated that she wasn't on the clock at the time and directed us to another employee. The employee helped me match my foundation color with their color ID, but she wasn't friendly at all and didn't even attempt to strike up a conversation. She did help me find what I wanted, but i thought that ultimately, the employees didn't really seem to care about what the customers wanted or needed. read more

At first, the customer service was horrible. I came because my daily makeup routine was very simple, and i wanted help in picking some products for contouring and highlighting, as well as skincare, and false eyelashes, which i am not accustomed to.I asked the first associate i saw for assistance in finding the products i was searching for, and she rushed to me to a product, and then left. I asked another sales associate for help, as i did not know how to apply the product, and she told me i need to make an appointment, even though there were multiple associates standing around doing nothing, and it was certainly not a busy time. Another associate came, and provided the same horrible customer service. Then, i met an associate named Rose, who, as soon as she realized i was absolutely confused, took me to her station, and spent well over an hour finding every product i wanted, trying out different products, recommending items, and teaching me how to use them correctly. She used vitamin c wipes, and a mask treatment before applying makeup. She also brought me water, and did not rush me at all. She has provided, by far, the best customer service i have ever received in any Sephora. Because of her excellent service, i bought over $400 of makeup products i am in love with, and it has been a win-win for me and Sephora. However, had i not seen her, i would most likely have been fed up with the service, and left unsatisfied. Rose made me feel like a valuable customer, unlike the other associates. I highly recommend going to see Rose for any help choosing makeup, learning how to apply it, and any further recommendations. Oh Sephora, you are my weakness. My feeling are unfathomable for this store. It's beauty supply euphoria and all of the above. Everytime I walk into the store I get into this trance of ecstasy, aint' no one stopping me from sampling those generous tester products. You won't leave the store without your hands covered in different colored lines, your neck and wrists mixed with different aromas, and each of your nails different colors. Some of my favorites are Urban Decay, Too faced, Escada, Stila, Smashbox, Bare Escensuals, Pop Beauty and Vincent Longo. Now I'm a little conflicted about those workers. Sure, friendly faces and welcoming, informative staff. But stalkers who follow you aisle to aisle? Part of me thinks they're following me cause they think I want that 5-finger discount. This is the main Sephora location I go to as it is the closest to my house. I have never really had any problems while visiting this store, as the staff is usually very helpful and attentive to my needs. With that being said, customer service is somewhat a hit or miss. Some days I walk in with an immediate greeting and multiple gestures to help me find what I'm looking for while other times I am not even acknowledged, or even worse, faced with a rude associate. With that being said, the last few times I have been here I have had a good experience - particularly with Jasmine who is one of the make up artists on board. She always takes the time to help me find what I'm looking for and while doing so, makes her own recommendations to help find the best product for my skin. Love her! Being one of the larger locations, they have a wider selection of products in comparison to other Sephoras. However, if you come to find the item you want is out of stock, tell an associate and they will provide you with a free shipping code to order it online, which I find helpful. Overall, I'm happy with this store and look forward to my many future trips being the makeup enthusiast I am. :) read more

What happened to the great customer service I used to get at the Valley Fair location? Went in to the VF store on a weekday and still couldn't get anyone to help me. My foundation color was not out on the shelf and I needed someone to check in the drawers for my color but couldn't find anyone and no one asked me for help. Kept looking for someone and even saw another set of ladies get approached twice and were asked if they needed help, ugh. I'm a VIB customer, buy all my make up at Sephora but will never go to VF location again. If you want good customer service go to Sephora at Oakridge instead. Way better customer service. I'm saddened to say that I have had the worst customer service ever. The two girls working there really made me feel bad about my self. I was asking for make up advice and they looked down on me and giggled and gave so much attitude when I asked for a product that consumes less time for face contouring. Sorry I don't like layers of make up. First off I don't know much about make up, it's their JOB to educate the client if a product is right for you. I never had people make me feel bad as much as these girls. First off I'll start by stating the obvious, the new location is BEAUTIFUL! It was a bit crowded but that's to be expected. I do love how everything is laid out and easy to find I will say. Being that I work in makeup and are a frequent buyer at Sephora, I have somewhat of a high expectation in their customer service. I would honestly have put this location at a 5 star but unfortunately when first walking in I didn't get the best service with the gal I had been asking to help me but I'll put that off to the high volume of people in the store. However, Maria from skincare and Evan from luxury turned that all around! Maria gave me an in depth lesson about skincare and how the products actually work to target your skins issues, and what would actually work with my skin regimen and skin type. Well also providing knowledge of what I was currently using and advice on what might be the problem. Even definitely helped well inform me on the products I was interested in, such as the Giorgio Armani luminous silk, and what products would best pair with that product and work with my skin type. Not only that but all the gals at the cash wrap were friendly and very helpful. All in all I'd say this was definitely a great Sephora experience and I will be a returning guest. read more

I have been to 4 sephora stores in the area where i live and this the first time where i experienced worse service. When i got there the workers were just talking to one another and didn't even bother asking you for help. I believe it was just the cashier who i had called Chloe that i think isn't that well. I bought 3 bottles of perfume which was near $200 and it was near my birthday also. so i got the free birthday gift but the cashier wasn't willing to give me a bit of samples except for one -_- . Also at last minute i bought a hello kitty nail sticker but she didn't add in my email address to get the beauty points. overall i think she is a worker that should be nicer and wiser. but i guess at least she added in the beauty points to my first purchases. at the same time she also seemed annoyed. I have always been a big fan of Sephora as well as a good customer. I walked into the store yesterday evening having a list of things that I needed($200 worth). I began to search for each of those things. One of the employees asked me if I had any questions but seemed like she was only asking because she had to. I did have a question and before even being able to finish asking my question she interrupted me and shot me a half assed answer that didn't even answer my initial question if she had been listening. The rest of the time in store I was not given any help searching for all the items as well as pulling out the drawers underneath to get the product I needed since the shelves weren't stocked and no one was offering assistance. Once I collected a majority of the items I needed I got in line and just to my luck I got the same lady who greeted me initially when I walked into the store. She began ringing up my items and when it came time to pay she just started shouting at me what to push like she had no patience, yet the store was not busy. Halfway through ringing me up she left the register with no explanation or apology, as I stood waiting to finish the transaction so I can carry on with my evening. Jessica and Jamie are very friendly and awesome to say the least. I went in there to get my bridal makeup done.I bought a 50 gift card and they treated me like i spent hundreds of dollars. They made me look and feel so beautiful. First was getting my skin prepped. the results were great. my skin looked flawless and felt good. Then on to makeup Jessica did it exactly how i wanted it i couldnt have been more happier.She took her time did not rush explained everything she was doing she used hd makeup forever which i loved and also purchased :) She does great eyebrows everyone kept on commenting on how good my eyebrows looked!!! Margaux in Sephora was top-notch. She understood what I wanted exactly to the T. It was almost like she finished my sentences. She got all the beauty products at the makeover session that fit exactly what I wanted. I just wanted a basic "starter kit" for skincare and makeup without any frills. She delivered exactly that. Bear in mind, I never stepped foot into Sephora until that day and she's sold me into coming back in the future. She made me comfortable with makeup (as a person who never uses makeup and is often intimidated). She was honest about the brands and incredibly knowledgeable about the products, how they worked, and how effective they are. She gave me makeup tips and showed me how to use tools and how to clean/maintain them. She was an all-around fantastic consultant that "GOT" me and it was at a level that I can really relate and I was incredibly comfortable. I didn't realize I was sitting in a busy store! I go to Sephora to buy fragrances, tools and specialty make up items. I usually like this store but the last time I was there no one bothered to help me as I walked aimlessly around the store looking for a frangrance for my daughter. I agree with a fellow yelper that if you don't look like you just walked off the set of "the hills" your're going to be hard pressed to get some help. Customer service here is horrible. This location San Jose,Sephora is HORRIBLE customer service!! They're rude & snobby! They are very discriminating. I am a Sephora fan and I just could NOT believe how I was treated! Every customer who walked in including myself, was treated like we were a "THEIF". I understand they want to monitor safety & protecting thef but there are other ways to do that positively without customers feeling like they're the bad ones. I would NOT go to San JOse Sephora. Pleasanton is the same way but San Jose is WORST!!! I would choose Oakridge or San Francisco Sephora location out of all of these. Sephora's motto is "Clients comes FIRST, and customer satisfaction is a priority in meeting their needs" San Jose did NOT follow that mission statement. I am floored with my horrible experience there,from years of being Sephora's loyal customer. They give samples in very SMALL amount that doesn't even last a whole day. In Oakridge, they fill up the jar so the client has time to explore if they like the product or not. I will never go to San Jose ever! They're HORRIBLE! IF you want to enjoy shopping in a Sephora store, do NOT go in this location, they will embarrass you and rob your excitement and make you feel the worst person in the world. The managers are the worst management I've seen! SAN JOSE SEPHORA, you need to be replaced or learn from Oakridge, Jessica Gerlt. Its usually an utter shame that such stores even want to carry mens items...but they do and most usually none of the employees no nothing about them. On more than one occasion, the clerks have always geared me into the wrong skiing programs, and they usually have to guess about what supplies are better for men. They always lead me to Clinique for men, which is basic(and rather affordable then Lab Series, but I don't have an issue paying for quality). The selection for men sucks! Overall the associates are really nice, and often times when supplies don't work they exchange/return them without little fuss. I never reciveve any free samples( yes yes they have tons of samples for men in those drawers, I mean tons, but only received a sample once)! I just wished the selection for men was wide, and abundant, and that associates actually new more about the mens products! read more

My overall experience was amazing I was greeted by every worker at Sephora. I was helped by Sara who was amazing, she took her time to find my needs and showed me different brands that were very similar to the more expensive brands I had in mind. Because of her expertise in different brands I was able to SAVE & EXPERIENCE the SEPHORA BRAND. I would have given a 5, but I wasn't helped by other MUA that were just walking around. I recently starting shopping at Sephora. I went in to Sephora to purchase foundation for the first time in October 2013 after years of using MAC. I went back in December and a couple of MUA walked by me without asking if I needed help. I then was told to wait by the makeover counter and that someone would come to help me. I waited about 5 minutes, then I was asked if I had been helped and I said no. Jade introduced herself and was very helpful!!!! I showed her that the foundation that i was using wasn't working for me and she put it on and immediately told me that I had been given a darker color of foundation. She was very helpful in helping me find the right color. During the time that she helped me find a new foundation and introduced me to a primer, she was the nicest and respectful person working with customers I had ever met! Basically every Sephora is the same. The same products , the same sampling policy, good to great service depending on how busy it is/ how educated the staff is. This location, however, has something the others lack and her name is Jamie. Jamie works in skincare, she has been there quite awhile and she has introduced me to so many great products. She is not pushy about making me buy all of them, instead she always offers a sample and I buy what I love and skip what I don't. The only thing is I LOVE 99.9% of her recommendations. This woman is my skincare guru. She is so knowledgable and passionate about skincare it's contagious. She is a true asset to the company. I feel she truly cares about not only my skin but life, she always greets me warmly and asks how I'm doing and tells me that my skin is looking beautiful. She has even converted me from someone who used to obsessively UV tan to someone who has mastered the art of self tanner. Thank you Jamie, you're fantastic! I love you!! read more

I have been shopping at Sephora many years, however, today I got my worst experience at this particular store. I was trying some unwrinkle product on my hubby's forehead when out of sudden an employee standing behind said loudly: "What did you put on him! What is on your pad!" I was scared a little 'cause usually an employee will come and ask if you need help, not shouting at you. Then I tried to explain but the lady intreputed me and said in high volume:" You should not use this! HE HAS ACNES! You should use that!" I said I can make decision by my own but she kept on blablaing in a rude manner. I was pissed off, hey, did I ask you for help? I did show my respect because the bossy lady looks like over 60 yo even with scary makeup on her face. Also what she said was not correct (like 10% saIicylic acid, wtf?) I was going to ask her to leave us alone but at that time I saw my big little guy. He was ALL RED. He must be ashamed by his not-so-perfect skin. In fact, he didn't have any acne, only some red scars from blemishes long time ago. I felt too bad to say anything and we walked out asap. Okay, basically, the only reason why I go to this Sephora is because it's the closest one to me. I mean, the store is nice and neat, and they have like 98% of the products that I was looking for in stock every time I get there, but the only thing that bugs me to THAT point is, you guessed it, the customer service. I'm fairly young, fifteen. I still have braces, so I guess that makes me look even younger. Well, I guess the workers there sure notice, because they don't want anything to do with me. They just follow me around as if I'm a crazy teenager who's going to stuff as many things possible in my purse. Do they even help me? Nope. I just wander around, helplessly trying to find a worker that actually is kind enough to help me. I remember there was only one worker there who was nice. I was carrying a couple of items, and my hands were getting full, so she offered me a basket. But all of the other workers ... they're snobby and stuck-up. I don't know if this is how it goes, but I feel like they help out the richer ladies who wear diamonds and Juicy Couture with high heel stilettos that cost thousands of dollars. I guess it's true, since whenever I come into the store with a regular v-neck, skinny jeans, and flats, they just brush me off to the side. The lady at the cash register wasn't very friendly either (no surprise). While I was getting my coin purse out, I could see that she was annoyed and impatient. And she didn't even say ANYTHING to me besides the total amount I owe. And when she handed me the bag, she just pushed it forward, and turned around for the next customer. I mean, come on, are you really going to make me REGRET buying something? As I put my wallet and coin purse into my bag, I see that the new customer was a tall, pretty, sophisticated women. Automatically, the cashier was filled with joy and asked her "And how are you today? Did you find everything okay? Oh, that eyeshadow is to die for." Wow, really? Next time, I think I'm going to make a list beforehand, and just go in and grab my stuff, pay, and leave, as soon as possible. And all of the reviews you read when they say that the workers really do watch you as if you were shoplifting, it's all true. read more

This Sephora can be a hit or miss. Sometimes you get great costumer service and sometimes you have to chase the sales associates through the store to ask a simple question. I like the make-up and also that they have Tocca products (Love Love Love!) They have a large selection of make up forever and have most of the chanel products I use. read more
