Even though the check out line is long, I feel like a lot of the employees try to make sure it goes by fast (but still gives you samples YAAAASSSS). I remember going on Nov. 9th, and I was on a mission to find my husband Devacurl, and an employee came to assist, explained where it was, how it works, what reviews she has heard on the product, and was super chill! As a very outwardly heterosexual male, I don't often get good service at Sephora. I'm often overlooked by employees as they probably think that I'm not going to buy anything or don't belong in the store. I will admit that my last few experiences in this location have been great. I've been promptly acknowledged and greeted by staff and staff has generally been happy to make me samples of masks, shampoos, waxes, etc. My only issue with this store is the location. It's in the uber-crowded Valley Fair mall and this is hands down the busiest Sephora I've ever been to. Meh. The store itself is huge and they carry many brands here. Most of the staff is friendly, but today one of the employees kept blocking my view from one of the shelves and didn't even say excuse me or acknowledge me. I was hoping to have someone check if a product was in stock but I went unnoticed by someone who was right in front of me. I came here a second time to return two Urban Decay eyeshadows. I believe it's their policy, but they opened each eyeshadow case and inspected in front of me, to make sure that I did not use them. WTF. I do not need to feel like some ghetto-ass chick. I felt slightly irritated and somewhat offended by the entire process. The cashier lady was not friendly and did not explain their policy. This is one of my favorite Sephora locations. It is always super clean, organized, and there are always associates floating around offering assistance. I went in today to return some Armani Luminous Silk foundation because unfortunately I could not find a proper shade match for myself. I was assisted by a super nice and helpful girl named Alli. She was super helpful, sweet, understanding, and very knowledgeable! I had casually mentioned I couldn't find my correct (summer upgrade) shade and Alli offered to help color match me right on the spot. She showed me the color chart and asked my current regular shade, she then swatched the colors to compare on a palette for me to compare to my skin tone. Sooo super helpful! &The color she recommended looks very promising! I'm waiting for the VIB sale next week to purchase, but I will be taking miss Allis recommendation. This place is a zoo! Crowded even on a weekday. Other shoppers were bumping on me and it was really difficult to locate the nice associate that was helping me even though she promised to find me at a certain section. The store is organized but everything is crammed close together so it's difficult to browse while also getting pushed and shoved by other shoppers. read more

I like the Sephora because it's really big, but it is often very crowded. The employees seem very knowledgeable and very helpful. The only thing about this location is the lines can sometimes be long. Unfortunately I tend to shop at this store on the weekends which may be why it's always so busy. The bad review is for the manager of this store (a white tall male named Mark or Mike if I didn't hear wrong). The line is crazy long but there's only two at the cashier desk. While I am enduring my back pain and wait for over 30 minutes in the line, the manager and his girls are chatting and laughing by the side doing nothing. I shouted out to him and he pretend he hear nothing. I can clearly see multiple staff standing idle but I don't know why they are not getting more people to help at cashier desk (there are 5 cashier desk in total). After I finished paying I walked up and talked to the manager and advised him to solve the issue. He didn't apologize and didn't listen to me at all. He says 'can you not see I'm busy?' I asked what are you busy with? He says I'm managing. This is the worst joke I heard this year. Otherwise The staff are nice and product are good. read more

Sephora has relocated to a new spot in the mall. It is more spacious with a ton more "MUAs" walking around, but I feel like that's literally all they do. The same or even worst customer service still exists. My niece is new to the makeup world and we wanted to get recommendations on which makeup would best match her skin type. Now, I've noticed everyone else being asked for help around us, BUT us. We needed to flag people down asking for help with multiple responses saying they'll get someone else that can help us. No one would ever come by after we asked and then we would have to find another person. First question was "Which ABH dipbrow would match her?". The MUA simply swiped a line on her own hand and said, "This would match her.". I looked at her and asked if she could put it directly on my niece's brows so we can actually see, especially since it's on her own skin and not somebody elses'. I didn't get why she didn't in the first place, but I guess she needed to call a "specialist" to help since she couldn't just swipe it on my niece's face instead, so we got redirected again. The layout of the location can be confusing only because everything is labeled so small. You have to walk down every aisle in order to see what brand of makeup that section is, so be prepared that if you want to do a quick run it probably won't be quick. I won't be returning to this location especially just reading how much better the service at Sephora in Santana Row (literally across the street) is. I always feel like I have to put on makeup prior to entering the store just so someone would actually take me serious and approach me and offer any help. read more

God, I'm a fiend for product. They've got everything but Chanel (couldn't find it!) and MAC here (I'm sure there are more missing, but these are the things I look for) and a great selection of eau de toilettes and eau de parfum. And a knowledgable staff to tell you the difference between the two. The answer: Perfume (or extract or extrait perfume) is the purest form of scented product = more expensive. Eau de parfum is cheaper and has a stronger concentration than perfume= longer lasting. Eau de toilette is a lighter scent and doesn't linger as the other intense variations. Eau de cologne is pretty much the same thing as eau de toilette. Help is hit or miss here, but I'm always greeted-whether it be a genuine "hey whatsup girl!" smile or "make that $$$$" smile. I know they pay and educate their staff well, so they're generally pretty nice through and through. You don't gotta be in some elite posse (except the Beauty Insider Club, but just give them some info and you're in for sample heaven!) to make the cut. Just bring that cash money! They've got good deals for face stuff (Murad face wash, lotion AND toner) for $23??!! (This is what they cost individually btw) and their recommendations and best sellers are helpful. They're pretty good with impulse buying, so ignore those little cubbys of sample sized "best buys" product on the way to the registers ( I swear, they keep a line on purpose just in sync for you to figure out if you want that 4oz of Daisy by Marc Jacobs with a bonus MJ coin purse or that mini Evian mister). If you can't, that's okay! I've found tons of things there that I now live by. But please, use that cotton swab to apply that eyeshadow or gloss. I think this Sephora is slightly bigger than Oakridge, but that doesn't mean it's better. I prefer the Oakridge location. I went in over the weekend needing face powder and to find a new face cream. Turns out this location doesn't carry the powder I needed (should have gone to Oakridge). As for face creams, they had just one girl working in that area. I was looking at the selection tool they have and she walks up and immediately seems annoyed, like i'm in her way. Sorry you don't have more than one of these things... not really my problem. Anyway, I printed the slips for the ones I wanted to try and asked for samples. That took a lot of effort, and most of the samples were practically empty. Not sure how I'm supposed to make a decision based on a dab that isn't enough to even put on my face! ugh. Lines are long at this store, though they seem to move pretty quickly. I ordered an eyeliner online for $25 and it didn't work out for me. So, I went to this Sephora to return it, but they only refunded me back $20. I asked to speak to the manager and she totally gave me some BS excuse to get me out of the store, instead of doing the right thing and admitting they made a mistake and giving back my money. The next day I called the website number and they refunded me the rest out of courtesy, but said the store I went to was suppose to do it, and that they didn't know why they didn't deal with it. 1 star because I love Sephora. 1 star because the website customer service and associates are good. 0 stars for that manager--PLEASE GET FIRED! read more

Best makeup store ever! It is always busy and crowded though, no matter what time you come. I buy all my makeup here. They have all the best high-end cosmetics. I just went in to re-up my skincare arsenal. Caudalie has an amazing line of moisturizers and serum, box set is on sale now for $79 and comes with a full-size serum ($79 on it's own!). Everyone loves the Shiseido Benefiance eye cream. They have Clarisonic machines and refills here too. Also, Peter Thomas Roth makes an amazing glycolic/salicylic acid skin pad if you are breaking out. They also have a lot of exclusive colors and sets here made just for Sephora (like my favorite Buxom lipgloss). Having difficulty finding that exact shade of foundation to match your skin tone? No worries, they have a new device (Skin IQ) that scans your skin and returns brands and tones that match your skin color exactly. Very cool. There is a rewards program- Beauty Insider, Very Important Beauty (VIB) Insider & VIB Rouge. Different rewards come your way based on how much money you spend here annually- $350 gets you to VIB, $1000 gets you to VIB Rouge. They are very cool about letting you sample everything in the store. Just because you don't see a sample for a product, don't sweat it, they can make you one :) One thing- it does get irritating when they say "oh are you having fun playing?" or "I'll let you keep playing, let me know if you need any help" when you are testing out products. I'm not "playing"- that word reminds me of a kid eating crayons and dumping a bowl of spaghetti on their head lol I still love them though. read more

Been here quite a few times lately and figured I'd swing by here and say this is one of the better/best Sephora's I've been to in the US. (I travel a lot and visit Sephoras often.) Way more options in Japanese/Korean skincare. While super busy, enough room in the store to pass people by. And very well-maintained. The staff are much more knowledgeable about skincare than other locations and very friendly. Last time I was here, one of the gentlemen staff straight up talked with me about the different ingredients for two of the Kbeauty products I was debating between. The cashier was kind when she saw I was a VIB Rouge and explained the ENTIRE in-store facial process for me. And when I really am just totally needing my space to search around, headphones in and all, they just smile nod and move on. (I've been at other locations where they still force conversations and /spoilers/ that's really annoying.) All in all, a really good Sephora. I'd just suggest not coming on a weekend if you want to explore, as it gets really crowded with folks and families. read more

My face is my canvas and this place supplies the paint. OMIGOD... I love how friendly the sales associates are! They give honest opinions and feedback on their products and make good recommendations. I don't like how majority of the Sephora branded items are made in China, but I'm a sucker for the Sephora and OPI partnership. My favorite tweezers are the Swiss Made Sephora Branded tweezers. They yank out my extra fuzzies around the eyebrows leaving them perfect. They're more than generous when you ask for skin care samples. I hate how my sensitive skin tends to react with a lot of different ingredients. That way I don't have to buy a full product, use it twice, realize that I'm in hives, return it, and have them cancel it out. I can try it out at home and realize that it's sensitive skin safe and then buy the entire jar. read more

I love Sephora over other branded stores because Sephora carries all brands! Be warned though that their selection online is a lot more extensive online so I usually just order online and bring my returns to the store. Still, it is nice to get some recommendation from the employees there. For the longest time, I hated all of the products made by Sephora themselves. Eye shadows, concealers, eyeliners have all failed me but alas, I have found the ONE item that is truly amazing in their line; their waterproof eye make-up remover! I swear, it's better than the Lancome one that I used to use, but for less than half the price. For $10, a bottle of this stuff will go a long way and it takes off make up so effortlessly. Plus, it's a lot less greasy than the other waterproof make up removers I've tried. Sometimes I do find the employees to lack a bit of knowledge of their store stock, but there are ones that know their stuff! There's this one Asian guy who works there and is great to go to for advice, and he's really fun to talk to! read more

Apparently they moved their location in the mall to the new one, which is FABULOUS! Huge! Much better than that L shaped, cramped store they were in before. I had scheduled the 45 minute makeover online a few weeks before for a new overall look. They emailed me a confirmation for the appointment and called the morning of. Luckily, I was able to switch to an earlier time. I was just doing it for fun & to feel prettier with a different look. I had no idea what to expect. First, they prep your face so your makeup goes on smoothly. This is done in the skin care section. A really sweet girl (sorry I don't recall her name) did my skin prep. It was fast - cleanser, toner, moisturizer, & primer, but my skin hasn't felt that smooth since my last facial. She gave me some cream for acne treatment which is terrific. Second, my skin prep tech took me to the makeup studio section to introduce me to Rubi, who would be my artist. I knew which products I wanted to try - a look inspired from Kim Kardashian's VMA's - contour with gold emphasis. I'm already pretty good at doing my own makeup, but I'm constantly learning new tips. Wanted some contouring tips and I asked her to help teach me how to use fake eyelashes, which she did. She didn't push any products on me, found out they don't work on commission, but do get recognized if we leave nice comments on surveys (which I will do later today). I figured Yelp would be helpful too. She spent much more than 45 minutes with me. Maybe because I was so specific in my needs, I dunno. Anyways, she did a great job! At the end she even gave me some dry shampoo to use as I was heading out on a date and my hair looked tore up from the floor up. Much better. She was sweet & helpful. Didn't know what to expect from a girl who looked like Kylie Jenner with blue hair but it turned out great! Lastly, I was able to buy the products I chose directly from her, instead of going to the checkout line. You need to buy at least $50 worth of product for the "free" makeover, but that's easily done with like 2 items. I ended up buying the fake eyelashes (LOVE - Sephora brand Mink #23), Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara (OMG - I'm the mascara queen & this is def in my top 3 now), and ABH Brow Wiz in dark brown. Sephora is average at best. It has a lot more items than MAC cosmetics, but they tend to not restock! I was looking for the Murad concealer for acne, but I had to come back several times in order to get the concealer in my skin color! However, I like how they arrange the little stations with the many different brushes for you to test out make-up with. Makes it a lot easier on your hands since you don't have to use it as a canvas .. or a brush. The eyeshadows are expensive, but I guess that's the price you have to pay for putting cake on your face to cover your imperfections or to bring out your eyes. read more

The only reason I'm putting 4 stars is because of the outstanding Beauty Advisor (Lalli) who helped me a whole lot today. I give her 5 stars, but I took 1 off because of how hard it was to find someone who cared to help me. I asked about THREE different beauty advisors that I have been struggling a lot with my foundation routine. Every single one of those beauty advisors would either just point to the brand that they *thought* was best for foundations/concealers, or they'd just drop me off at one of the brands and leave me there without assisting me, even tho I informed them that I NEED the help. It seemed like they were soooo uninterested and blah, I felt brushed off. I was contemplating on leaving until I asked the 4th beauty advisor Lalli for some help. Thankfully she assisted me on different foundation and concealer brands, consistencies, color matching, comparing products, which products pair best together, etc. I'd say she spent about 45 minutes helping me. She was by far the most helpful, friendly and understanding beauty advisor with A-1 interpersonal skills. She was very honest about the makeup products which I appreciated so much. If she wasn't working that day, then Sephora wouldn't have gotten my coin. Lalli is the reason why I rated this Sephora location a 4/5. Without her help, I'd rate this location a 0/5. The rest of the beauty advisors need to learn from her and work on their customer service and interpersonal skills, it could benefit the Stevens Creek location a whole lot. read more

I then asked again thinking she didn't hear me due to the loud noises and she turned around and pointed a finger at me really angrily and said something I couldn't hear due to the loud talking in the background. I was going to leave but boyfriend kept insisting me to ask for help despite the really bad attitude I got. I did get my stuff eventually but the service really left a bad taste in my mouth. She helped me pick out the right products that didn't cause me to break out or seem cakey throughout the day. She truly took her time on me and made sure I knew how each product should be used. I did end up loving the makeover and bought the products she recommended. The store was packed but I didn't feel rushed or pressured by her.
