I have lived at Serrano apartments for a while and now that I unfortunately have to move, I wanted to give a little praise. First off the location is hard to beat. I walk to coffee shops, movie theater, and grocery stores. The restaurants and bars are easily accessible as well. Second the amenities are amazing and they have two pools! The gym is never crowded and people don't mind if I bring my iPad to do workout from my videos. Third, the complex is quiet. I haven't had a noise issue ever and the fact that my apartment felt like a home was an added bonus. Finally, the staff are there for all my needs. Every time I walked into the office I was greeted with courtesy and felt welcomed there. Every time I saw Melisa I knew I was being taken care of. Our toilet was leaking in the bowl constantly. It wasn't critical so I scheduled a time on the weekend when I would be available. Connor arrived as scheduled and identified the problem quickly and got the flapper valve part and replaced it quickly to stop the leaking toilet. His repair was very helpful in keeping us from wasting water with a leaking toilet. read more

Currently, they are installing Google Fiber for the whole apartment buildings. In the process of installing Google Fiber, they are drilling holes in the wall and running wires inside the wall. When they drilled holes near the outside of our balcony, they did not notify us, and big chunks of debris from making the hole flew right into our balcony. We have little kids going in and out to the balcony, and it yields a serious danger to our kids. They also left our balcony as is, and did not clean until we asked them to do so after 6 days. So I called the front office to talk to the property manager, but he wasn't there. So I asked one of the agents (Marissa?) to leave him a message to call me back. But he never did. So I called back again, and even gave them a specific time (during a business hour, in a reasonable time) to call me back. But of course he didn't call me back. All I ask is for them to follow through and be courteous. read more

Great community with great amenities! The leasing office management is wonderful and are always happy to help. The community is walkable distance from anything you may need. The landscaping, pool areas, and fitness center are always clean and well managed. The clubhouse is a wonderful place to rent and host a party/get together. I read the other reviews prior to this writing and some reviews are accurate and some former tenants seem jaded. I just completed a two year lease at Serrano. Bottom line...great value. Before I moved to California, I visited six different apartment complexes and chose this location. Move in experience went well and the neighbors we very quiet. Pool and recreational areas are maintained well and the area is clean. Location is in close proximity to major highways and is only a short drive to the Irvine Spectrum. The maintenance and management were very responsive. I had two issues with the sink and maintenance techs has it resolved within the hour. Only issue I did have was with security. There was a break-in to my garage and things were stolen. However, this could have happened and any complex or home...thieves will be thieves and security cannot be everywhere all the time. My move out experience was pleasant and there were no "surprises" in the end. Overall, I would highly recommended this location as the value for the money (in Irvine) was definitely worth it. read more

I was about to give this place a three star rating because of the weird/ bad experience I just had at the front deck but then I remembered how awesome the manager and the maintenance guys are. The head manager was not in the office or it would have went differently today. I have been here about a year now and I wouldn't leave but I am for personal reasons. The head manager Sam has literally been the best to me and has treated me with nothing but respect. IE: first week I was here I had issues with my washer as it was soaking my carpet. Sam gets a guy to come fix it. 2 days later same issue. He then calls me and lets me know they are completely replacing the unit. Thank you sir!! That is the best customer service you can get. Jonathan one of the maintenance guys is freakin nice. Remembers my sons name, says hello to him and wife. He is literally the icing on the cake. Keep up the awesome work Jonathan and happy bday to your son! This place is quite as can be. Nice vegetation all around, kids play areas, super nice pools, sprinklers, Gardners, dog bags for dog poop Etc.. TO BE CLEAR IF YOU ASKED ME WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS PLACE I WOULD SAY 100% YES. Front desk Jason and I can't remember her name it's Silvia Or Cythina (pretty deep accent) were horrid. My day experience is below you be the judge. IE: today April 16 2019 I walked in to the office to grab air filters. Mind you I know I am suppose to fill out this whole form request thing and I decided I'm just going to walk up to the office with my son and see if they can literally just hand me the filters and I'll replace them myself. No that hard. The women with the broken accent initially tells me no maintenance people are here I look left and there is no joke a group of them standing there. I start to walk towards them and she goes "whoops I lied" it's about 5:25 at this time so I am assuming she is just checked out mentally. She then proceeds to tell me that it will have to be tomorrow. So I shrug my shoulder with my son in my hands and walk up To one of the maintenance guys and ask him "where do they keep the filters? Is it in the main maintenance building? " He goes "yes" I then tell him " do you mind walking with me there to grab me some? It will take no joke 4 mins" He says he is already off and I respect that. Now back to accent lady. She then says "told you." I respond with "what's your name? I'd like to yelp this whole Experience" she says in a much louder tone "why would you do that?" I say "I am elitist for yelp and I actually get invited to free yelp parties for these reviews. so it has its worth. Also I have legal right to do it" Her being upset and me realizing this conversation is going no where I b line for the door. Jason is at the other desk and I ask him and no joke gives me one of the hand gestures like you are brushing off your shoulder. Hard to explain via text but he didn't want to deal with me clearly.( mind you I have given this place about 30k in rent this past year. I deserve respect) "Sir when do you want us to show up tomorrow" she says. I do not respond and walk out. 5 mins later I get a random call from Melissa (a different front desk/manager) and she is sending some one to my place. I just don't see why this couldn't have been done in the first place. Squeaky wheel gets the grease? Idk I just hate being that guy but she forced it out of me. Hats off to Melissa. read more

Have been living here for two years. Love the property and only have one complaint. The amount of noise from the months of construction is ridiculous. I work nights so I sleep during the day and after an hour or two I'm shaken awake by the construction rumbling past my window every weekday for months. My wife has been working from home and has had to drop calls because of the noise level. Overall, lived here happily for a while now but the nonstop noise from construction and workers yelling is getting too much to handle read more

I would just love to say, i absolutely love living here and all of the staff are incredibly kind! I've never had an issue. Rocio has been incredibly kind and supportive with all my needs & questions. She's made sure everything has gone smoothly upon moving in, and even when moving in to a new unit as well. That eased a lot of my anxiety. I also really am thankful for Miguel for helping me with questions too! The property is amazing, the pools are gorgeous, and the walking trails here are incredible. The best part would be how close to the market place this community is, you can walk to just about everything you need. I also have never had any issues with putting in maintenance requests, the staff has always been quick to respond. We moved in when covid first started and amazed at the friendliness and professionalism of Miguel. I shared I was 3 months pregnant and he helped me find exactly what I needed: within budget, first floor with a nice courtyard, quiet apartments with a waking trail right outside my apartment. I love that they have guest parking as it's more welcoming to offer our guest a worry free spot to park. They've also been so quick to respond and resolve any maintenance issues. Now that things were starting to open up we've taken advantage of the pool that offers nice places to comfortably grill and shade or sun to sit and relax, on to of the gym to help jump back in shape, and their clubhouse to host our first get together. We've been very happy with Serrano and their staff. Miguel has been our go to person, very courteous, knowledgeable and eager to help. read more

This was the worst property that I have ever lived in. Whee do I begin? When we first moved in, our gate keys were not working and apparently it was an issue with everyone's key. So, the gates were left open for anyone to come in including non-residents. This defeats the whole purpose of having gates, which made me feel unsafe. Second, we experienced package theft (probably from the gates being left open). They have the parcel service now, but that's too late for us since our wedding programs and menus got stolen DAYS before our wedding (imagine the stress!). Third, the office staff were not friendly at all. Every time I came in there for something, they always gave me a mean look as if I'm BOTHERING them (isn't that their job though? To help the residents?). Even during move-out, we still have issues with them. They charged me $50 for the parking sticker that THEY LOST. All of our keys/remotes/sticker were left neatly in a small bowl prior to move out and they claim the sticker wasn't there. When I spoke to the office, they said they would check and call me back to confirm whether or not they re-checked the bowl. No call back.. Instead, I get a bill for $50. I know for a fact the staff probably threw the bowl away with the sticker stuck on it and now they are charging me for their MISTAKE. $50 is not a lot of money. Even if they were charging me $1, I would still be upset. They are making their mistake my fault. Additionally, my husband left a bad review of how he felt as well and they can't even own up to their own poor service. I'm surprised their rating went up from 2.5 to a 4. That was definitely rigged. I have no issues with Irvine Company because we had an excellent experience with Anacapa. It's just this community. Awful service, awful attitudes, dishonest. read more

I am a resident in serrano apartment and like their maintance system. Jorge and Luis helped to replace and fix window blind! They are very polite and professional. However, their office staffs must be professional, especially old lady. She treated me like a Covid patient even though I was wearing a mask to wait outside of office in order to get a key for the printing station. I dislike her attitude so much. I'd like to give five stars for Jorge and Luid, but due to office staff's attitude, I can't. read more

I almost never leave a review but this rubbed me the wrong way. I moved into Serrano Apartments in August, At first everything was good for the first week or two. On move in date i was promised a brand new ice maker to be put into my freezer which they came to my apartment several times to install and was always the ''Wrong Part''. Several months go by still no ice maker and then my Washer and Dryer stops working. I have to run the dryer 3-4 times just to get it some what dry and its still doesn't dry my clothes. They come out soaking went and if i let it sit in dryer to long i have to rerun the load cause they STINK. This is only the beginning of my issues i had here. My car is very wide and when pulling into the garage it takes a few tries to get it lined up because some of the garages here are smaller on the initial entree of the garage which i didnt know. I have people yell at me out the window ''Shut the F*** Up" when all i am doing is just trying to PARK the car in the garage. Another issue someone yelling ''I bet you think you're F****** cool because the car i do drive. Whats the need for that? Oh yeah you want parking after 7-9pm if you have vistors. GOOD LUCK. Go play the lottery instead its impossible to find parking and they know it here as well. They put a bunch of letters saying they are inspecting garages and since ive been here within the 4 months or so it did not improve at all and if anything got worse. You think that would be all lets add in the fact i have kids DING DONG DITCHING my door. Even STANDARD BASIC stuff like having the directory at the front gate call me DOESNT WORK. They say its your phone provider and after talking to AT&T they said they dont have anything that would block ''spam calls" from coming in to open the gate. I explained to the Leasing office i am not happy, i am being harassed, They failed too do there obligations of fixing basic essentials and in return when breaking the lease they said ''There is nothing they can do'' I said having people harass you, knock your door running, yelling Profanity at you isn't a valid to break your lease and they said. ''Nope''. Not willing to help me out in any sort of way after all these issues that are not my fault The gentlemen who works there is very by the books and refused any sort of understanding on breaking the lease. $6200 LATER to break my lease and im out. Serrano has been a wonderful place to live for going on five years. We moved in a couple years before the pandemic and have seen the neighborhood change in this short amount of time. There's now a grocery store (Amazon Fresh), ice cream (Handel's), Costco Gas, and car wash within convenient walking and driving distance at the Marketplace next door! Work orders are handled quickly and office staff are always ready to help when available. Luckily we are on an upper floor so we only have to deal with pests once in a blue moon (comes with the territory of living in an apartment). My only wish is that they would add barbell equipment to the gym, but they have enough dumbbells and other machines to suffice. Would highly recommend Serrano to anyone working or studying in the area! read more

Living at Serrano was the worst I've ever experienced. The problems were never ending. Rats, coyotes coming into the grounds (which attacked my dog & a few others - THANK GOD no kids). Parking is HORRIFIC many nights I drove around over a hour then choosing to park at hobby lobby and walk home. I got blocked in our garage on many occasions from rude neighbors parking in front of garages. My dishwasher had a drain issue so I cleaned it myself then called maintenance to assist me (I was 8 months pregnant and couldn't reach back inside) he told me I had to bend over and put a piece back BECAUSE HE DIDNT REMOVE IT! My sink was leaking and his words were "you seem like you want a new one so I'll give you a new faucet" what is that supposed to mean? I want a sink that isn't spilling water all over my counter - yes! This man had issues whether it be with me or women he was always extremely aggressive to me if my husband wasn't around while he fixed things. I had a neighbor above me who watered plants that leaked dirty water all over my patio for months before anything happened, who used his garage as a workshop and leaked car oil in our walkways and stairs and left a dog on their patio to cry for over 7 hours a day - a neighbor below me who blasted music 24/7 & played dodgeball with our floor / their ceiling- a neighbor across my patio / courtyard who allowed a child to scream for hours on end that I actually called the cops because I could hear the parents laughing and going on with their day despite the child in distress 24/7. I also had a neighbor with mattresses on their living room floor because they had so many people living with them (hence the parking issues) The staff did NOTHING for each complaint except send me a plant HAHA. I cleaned my apartment from top to bottom and shouldn't have I read horror stories on here about deposits - they charged me nearly 2000 to replace my carpet which was dirty from the HORRIFIC CONSTRUCTION ZONE THEY NEVER CLEANED AFTER EACH DAY! Our shower had zero water pressure if washer / dryer or dishwasher was running! Cockroaches everywhere at night & rats running through bushes as well as climbing walls! I was home with a 2 day old newborn and they were mad at me that I wouldn't allow them to paint my front door which required I leave it open for 12 hours to dry - leave my door open for 12 hours allowing the fumes from paint as well as the dirt and debris from the demolition in our hallway all for my newborn to breathe? NO! I will NEVER ever in my life live in an Irvine company home again! I also gave 30 day notice and had to pay EXTRA for moving out a week early - comical! If you live here good luck if your thinking about living here don't. Serrano is a disaster & the staff is incompetent. read more

I love where I live. Why you may ask? First the staff at the leasing office are the most professional yet friendly and accommodating people. Special shout out to Chris and Garrett! Prompt, faithful and funny. Just good guys willing to listen and help. They both deserve a raise and or bonus (eh um, that's directed towards you Donny Bren) The floor plans are spacious and logical. The cabinets are deep so you can actually store stuff in them. Lots of storage in the units. The amenities are kept clean. Safety: when the fires hit, the Irvine company was prepared, they sent several alert texts to let me know when to evacuate and when it was safe to return. Maintenance: The staff always responds promptly and in an emergency, they are there to address the problem. The neighborhood is quiet at night, there is plenty of parking for guests and the community is conveniently located close to restaurants, grocery stores, shopping centers, and freeways. But really, the staff here is the best. They do deserve a shout out...and a raise. read more

Do yourself a favor and avoid anything owned by the Irvine Rental Company. You will end up "hating where you live". All of the Irvine Company properties look really nice and have nice looking amenities, but dont be fooled. Once you move in you will realize what myself and countless others have and you will regret it. For starters, driving accidents are frequent. It's so bad that Serrano has a reputation with the Irvine Police Department. But this is a common problem with all Irvine Rental Company properties. Dogs bark during all hours. Night, Day, Sunday morning, you name it. They bark, and nobody cares. Not to mention the fact that the tenants let their dogs crap and piss everywhere on the premises. Again, another common problem with all Irvine Rental Companies. The bottom line is you will be sharing a apartment complex with some of the worst neighbors you could imagine. There is a 24 hr gym on site, but good luck because half the equipment is broken and the other tentants never put the weights away. In fact, it's not uncommon to see people just hanging out in the gym on their phones, talking loudly, and watching the free TV. The management is VERY poor. They do absolutely nothing to fix any of the issues because the corporate office doesnt give them the authority too. They simply dont care about dealing with the issues. So when you call or email your management's bosses, good luck even getting a response. The truth is, Irvine Rental Company owns just about all of Irvine and they operate like some sort of mafia. You would think that they would care about this negative reputation they have but instead their attitude is more like this... when I told them I was going to move out, the management said to me this: "Where else are you going to live, we own all of Irvine, so you might as well just deal with it." Moving out of their apartments was a nightmare also, because they do everything in their power to keep your deposit. Charging ridiculous cleaning and paint fees that were never in the original lease agreement. They tried taking $500 in move out charges. Seriously?!?!? They are crooks in every sense of the word. And the management see's these reviews. You would think they would try to email me and fix the issues? Nope. They simply flag these postings over and over because they dont want the truth getting out about their properties. Go look up the reviews on Google if you dont believe me. read more

I've lived in Serrano for almost three years. It's very pretty on the outside and is a pleasure to call home in that regards. Especially using the pool area, it's great & photogenic. My neighbors haven't been entirely terrible., they are tolerable. Maintenance gets things done fast. Situations don't often rise up where things need to get fixed though. It's quiet on the weekends. No crazy parties. Courtyard view is great. No bugs inside the apartment. Their pest control service is great at fixing the massive roaches seen on the property. It's also nice there is a trail access and very convenient shopping with plenty grocers nearby. For the low score would be that parking is really bad, gates don't work, very expensive but with no upgrades to property. There are more than several, more than at least 20 garages that are being used as storage units. I see them when I walk my dog and drive around. Mind you we pay over $2100 and can never get a spot passed 9pm. You almost have to risk whatever repercussions and park in front of your garage which you're not allowed to do. Over 3 years, only one garage inspection has been performed and they tell residents so far in advance that they have enough time to take their items out and look good for inspection. It's gotten bad over the past couple of years, I chose the complex for its parking but now not so. Rent goes up $150 a year and I used to pay $50 for pet rent & that has gone up to $75 now. That's a negative to me. Especially since this no longer guarantees you'll get parking if you work a later shift at work. The interior is somewhat dated. The carpet is really cheap. It flattens and also becomes loose as you live in it. The installation is done by a bunch of goons - they might want to change their installers. Also the gates are always dysfunctional. They serve no purpose. Any & all cars come inside the property. Sometimes one end won't work so we go to another. I'll update if my moving out process is a nightmare. My job will be paying for my lease break so I'll be able to provide information on how that goes. I'll be moving to a much more luxurious place on the east coast for half the price. The complex is NOT safe, although it is gated community, there have been numerous break-ins and vandalism with cars parked inside the parking area and not enough security cameras. Incidents have been reported to the management but haven't seen any actions to keep residents safe. read more

I have lived here for just about 4 months and I can truly say this apt complex is truly a great place to live. It's always extremely quiet and the maintenance staff are great and fast. I had an ongoing issue with their gas unit outside my apt which fell under the gas company responsibility to repair and one of the service men Steve from this complex was honestly a great help. He always checked in on my family to see if the repairs were done yet and gave me updates. He was truly a huge help. The apt complex eventually was able to get the gas company to fix this issue and now we are back to normal again and happy. The only complaint is the front gate to the apt complex . Multiple times it's had issues working correctly so I do hope the complex rectifies that issue permanently but other then that this is a great apt complex. read more

My fiance and I recently moved into Serrano and we've been here for almost a month now. This is our second-time renting an Irvine Company apartment in the last 2 years. While we did have a good experience in the Anacapa complex, the front-office staff and service we've received at Serrano has provided a contrasting experience in the first month since our move-in. The service was great when we first moved in; however, everything went downhill after that. ANYONE can access the community which leads to parking issues and gives way for delivered packages to be stolen. Even though there is a security gate in front of the complex, pretty much anyone can drive-in and access the community at any hour as the entrance gate is always open. However, for residents leaving the community, the gate is closed which causes traffic and build-up of residents trying to leave the community which is especially painful in the mornings when everyone is leaving for work. How is it logical for them to keep the entrance gate open for anyone to access while leaving the exit gate closed to leave the community? We've already had issues with packages missing that were supposedly left on our front door which includes wedding programs for our wedding that is less than a month away. FRONT OFFICE - It is funny that every time we've tried to call the front-office for any question or clarification since day-one, they never respond and we have to call back at a later time to get a response; however, when they give away a key for a unit to a random person, they call my fiance and I while we are at work. My fiance received a call from a lady in the front office, asking us to return a key for a vacant apartment which we supposedly borrowed on Mother's Day, to use the restroom while maintenance was changing the water heaters in the building. My fiance and I were not even home for a majority of the day for Mother's Day. We confirmed with the front-office that we did not borrow a key to a vacant apartment. However, this made me question why they would give a key to a vacant apartment to someone without at least confirming they are a current resident. And why would the front office think we borrowed a key? Did some random person just tell them that they lived in our apartment number and the front-office just gives them a key to a unit without verification? PARKING - Each resident is given one parking spot and one garage parking spot. A sticker is supposed to be required for those parking in non-guest spots. Parking is NEVER enforced. Good luck trying to find parking when coming back home anytime after 9pm. Residents with parking stickers still park in Guest spots with no repercussions. Perhaps if only residents could access the community, this wouldn't be a problem. MAINTENANCE - Anytime we've needed something from the maintenance department, they've always been quick and responsive. No complaints whatsoever with these guys. read more

We held a bridal shower in the Apartment Clubhouse and it was seriously amazing. Booking as a resident was so so easy and the space was incredible. They have a bathroom, fridge, couches, TV, tables, kitchen, and a lot more. It was the perfect space to host a party. read more
