View of the restaurant. I thought these pictures were amazing.

I finally decided to check this place out for lunch. It wasn't busy when I arrived. There was one other table seated. The two people working were very friendly and attentive. I had to get their queso. I would put it in my top 5. The one thing I couldn't figure out was something was sweet...I could not figure out if it was the queso or chips. For lunch, I tried their tacos which they are known for. I got the Baja grilled fish taco and carne asada steak. The fish taco hit the spot. The steak was a little chewy. As I was eating my lunch, more people started to come in. I'll definitely be back for the fish taco and to check out some of their other items.

I'm giving 4 stars because the bartender was excellent. The food was mediocre. I got 2 different tacos. The bbq chicken wasn't very good. The chicken was over cooked and the tortilla it came on was obviously sitting out for too long. I forget the name of the other but it was ground beef. It was good but not great. I also had the chips & guac. It was okay, but nothing to write home about. I also got a mission margarita. It was good, but too sweet for my tastes. I prefer margs made without the sweet & sour margarita mix, but this definitely had it. The restaurant seems clean, but is extremely loud. I guess that's what I get for going during happy hour. I've been to the crossroads location one time and it's definitely better quality than the Leawood location.

I love where this place is located. It's great for date night or if you are wanting to enjoy a nice day on the patio. I came here for their new brunch menu and I tried the breakfast empanadas filled with eggs, breakfast potato, pork potato, salsa, lime crema and queso fresco. The Churro French toast was interesting, they are made from French bread which I don't care much for. They come with a strawberry compote and you would think because it was a churro French toast it would have churros flavor, but it doesn't it just has flavor when you put the strawberry topping on. The breakfast burrito is big enough to share with another person. Their chip flight is delicious, you have to eat the cheese fast because it gets cold quickly. I love their roast pepper salsa. Overall I love this place. Their service is great, the location is great, the food could use a little more flavor. The best thing on the menu is their fire roasted salsa.

First time here. The guacamole was fresh but tasted like mashed avocado more than anything. I really like avocado so I don't mind. The shrimp taco was very tasty but the portobello shrimp taco tasted very earthy and weird. I opted to not do goat cheese due to lactose intolerance so maybe that was the problem. I'd come back again but I'd aim for happy hour (see pic).

Headed to this spot for dinner on a Thursday evening. The patio was hopping so we waited for a table outside. The patio backs up to the park place greenspace. Once seated, our server gave us her recommendations on the best things to order. We of course got the salsa, the red one is very spicy! We also ordered the loaded fries, they were pretty good. For tacos, I ordered the hot chicken and steak tacos. Both were good, and the hot chicken was spicy! I also ordered two cocktails with my meal, the smugglers blues, a frozen margarita with strawberry and pineapple. It was good and severed with a pineapple leaf. I also ordered the piña colada, this one was my favorite. It was strong!

Got a chance to visit the new Mission Taco location. Inside of the place is spacious and nice. They have an outdoor seating with a nice view of the Barkley Square! For drinks, we had the Mission Margarita, and for the tacos, we had the Mango Hop Anero Shrimp, Baja Fish, Carne Asada, BLT, Grilled Chicken Taco! Service was great! Can't wait to come back here for more!

Ordered mobile for pick up. Got the food, and when I double checked the tacos for accuracy the chicken strip in the taco was literally like 3 inches long. Walked back in the restaurant, asked the same guy who I picked it up from if the chicken size was the right portion size, offered to pay for extra meat, and dude tells me it's just a little smaller than the other. Comes back with a similarly small tender, not even sauced with the hot chicken oil. Poor experience and will not be back. Spend your money elsewhere around park place, no remorse or even apology. Ridiculous.

We have visited a different Mission Taco in the past and have always loved pur food and our service. This was our first trip to this location and it is our favorite because with great tacos, delicious mocktails, and great service, they also have fantastic seating al fresco on the patio at Barkley Square. It's a beautiful place to relax while you dine and watch others play on the lawn. We absolutely loved spending an hour here enjoying a late lunch on Tuesday with our friendly server chatting about life and keeping our waters topped off throughout.

It is our first time dining here. Location is perfect right next to Park Place summer concert event and we could have chosen to be seated outside on the patio but we didn't. We arrived here early plenty of time before the concert for a bit to eat. We got seated right away and placed our order. The restaurant was busy but not completely packed. We ordered 4 tacos and chips & salsa. It took them quite awhile to bring out our order. Chips and salsa did not come out till after we got our 4 tacos and we had to asked about it. So we were just sitting there wondering when our food would be ready. We could have been enjoying the chips and salsa while waiting. Service was not all that great. Tacos came out. They were OK. I won't say they were the greatest. To me it seems bland. No flavors to them. Would this be a place that I would come back to? Maybe, not for the food but because of the location. It is conveniently located in the area I like to go to. Would their food be something that I would crate? Probably not.

The service model not one of my favorite, order at the counter, they give you a number, and bring it out. This one was not bad. We were a bigger group and multiple people brought food out. It did not feel like our waiting around under a heat lamp in the back. One of the wow factors for me is that for items you buy they donate an item internationally to people that need food. One of the service staff explained to us in detail. He told us that this one of the main reason he works there! What a powerful mission and great food. You should definitely come try the place and help feed some food insecure people.

It's definitely not close, a little bit of a drive (almost half an hour) but, it's so worth it! I've now visited three times and every time is almost better than the last. There are so many options for tacos here as well as combo meals, loaded fries, salads and other sharables. Truly, something on the menu for everyone. Also, the mission statement of this restaurant makes it even better than the savory, sensational food alone. They give back meals to the hungry with an emphasis on philanthropy. The employees inside the bright and cheery dining room are always so helpful, they really seem to love what they're doing and the work environment embodies the mission statement of the restaurant. I can tell the people working there take pride in what they do. Where do I start on the food...I've tried quite a few tacos on the menu and a lot of them are standouts. There are of course classic renditions of Tex-Mex tacos as well as new inventions, like a crab cake taco. I also have tried the steak and blue taco which wasn't my all time favorite but definitely had flavors that all worked together. Just to me the steak was a little chewy and tough but, I loved the additions of bacon and crumbled blue cheese, it was so hearty and creamy from the ranch sauce with a tad of heat from some jalapeño. The seafood tacos really shine for me and my palette, I really loved the snappy firecracker fried shrimp taco. This is definitely for the spicy sisters (and brothers) because it has an Asian inspired bang bang sauce as well as a peppery punchy sriracha sauce. Such a winner! Another winner in my opinion is the blackened mahi mahi taco with a creamy slaw and yum yum sauce which is just YUM! It's fresh and flavorful. The Korean steak taco has an interesting added crunch from a topping of fried wonton strips and an umami glaze on the steak. I prefer it to the steak and blue even though it's simpler in the number of ingredients. Who doesn't like a taco with fried pickles on top?! If you are with me and you are a pickle princess (or prince) and aren't afraid of a little spice then the buffalo chicken taco is for you. Another spicy option is the mango habanero grilled chicken taco, it may be the spiciest on the menu but the flavors pack a punch. The crispy cabbage and the creamy avocado cool down the mango habanero salsa and the crumbled salty cojita cheese topping is the most perfect finishing touch. Also, just a note, these are no small street tacos so, even though at first the price may seem shocking they are definitely filling. I barely finish three each time I dine and I leave very full and satisfied. Another favorite of mine has been the refried black beans that come with a Chipotle component that makes them unique. The guacamole is also fresh and limey, so good with a thin crispy salty chip dunked in. The queso isn't anything too special but who doesn't like ooey gooey melty cheese?

The service was okay! Nothing super special but they answered questions and were helpful at the counter. This was our first time here so we ordered a few things to sample and share amongst ourselves. The first thing we had was the chips and queso, which I thought was a bit expensive at $7.99 but not too bad. The queso was fairly spicy but otherwise nothing special. I usually love queso so it surprised me how neutral I felt toward it! The chips were good, thin and light with a crispy bite to them. We unfortunately didn't get to try the salsa, noticing only at the end of our meal that there was a sauce bar near the counter! The birria tacos were also...okay. They were very juicy but not very uniquely flavored compared to everything else we tried. The meat was tender and I loved the texture of the tortilla, but didn't care for the massive handful of cilantro dropped on top of everything on the plate. The dipping liquid (birria sauce?) was alright! It was the same flavor as the tacos themselves so it didn't add much, but it definitely wasn't bad. The "main course" of what we ordered was a combo of soft chicken tacos, rice, and beans. The chicken tacos were unfortunately very cold by the time we got them which was a bit strange, as almost everything else was hot! They tasted good but I'm really not a fan of eating cold chicken, so I passed them off to my friends. The beans were just okay. There's really not much to say about them. The rice also left me disappointed! I typically devour Spanish rice. Not only was it cold, there were also odd, hard grains of rice mixed in. Not enough to get one every bite but enough that the experience of eating it was off-putting. It was also quite bland. Another note: While we were eating, there was this constant loud droning coming from the air conditioner. I'm a MASSIVE fan of air conditioning so I'm grateful it was on in the first place, but that is something they really need to get fixed. Two women seated near us actually got up and walked outside after commenting multiple times about how disturbing the noise was. My experience here was definitely a mixed bag but it leaned toward the positive, so we'll likely try them again! They had several other menu items I'd like to try, including some American fare that I found intriguing.

My build-your-own weekday lunch ($8) included choice of entrée, choice of beans and rice. It was served just ten minutes after I ordered at the table, which gave me time to dig into the complimentary chips and mild (with a little kick), somewhat chunky salsa. The chicken tinga burrito was packed full of moist, white chicken and topped with a very flavorful sauce and cheese. I found the black beans to be pretty good, but the rice was somewhat dry and clumpy. The dining area had a central bar area, unique light fixtures, a mix of booths and tables, Mexican decor, Mexican background music (not too loud), a table-side cart for fresh guacamole and several backdrop spots for photos. I also noticed two rollup garage doors leading to the covered patio area. The food and drink menus included Mexican favorites, taco flights, taquito flights, margarita flights, 88 tequilas, meals for the kiddos and brunch (Sat & Sun 11AM - 2PM). Overall, very nice, especially for the lunch price.

We shared a combo platter with a beef taco, chicken tamale and a beef burrito. All were solid. Beans and rice were different but very good. Lastly we did a fun margarita flight. You get to pick four and they were pretty good but a lil $$ when you think about paying that much when the four together likely barely makes a regular size margarita. I'll be returning for the dip alone.

Well it turned out that I shouldn't have worried. These tacos, especially the more 'street' style ones, were freaking AWESOME. I had 3 different ones and they were all just so tasty and amazing. The place itself is pretty cool inside, the workers are friendly and also seem to know the menu items personally (I know I would if I worked there because DANG THEY ARE GOOD)!
