My husband and I went to Seven Bar and Restaurant with a group of about 60 people for our wedding after party on Saturday night, and everyone had a fabulous experience. Our wedding planner had reached out ahead of time since we'd have a large group coming in, and the owner was super accommodating and helpful. The place isn't very big but the atmosphere was so fun with disco lighting and people LOVED the karaoke. We also ordered several trays of fried food that I assume were good because everyone gobbled them up. We've had so many guests compliment us on how much fun it was and a perfect after party setting. Several people including my husband and I shut the bar down at 3am we were having so much fun. It's a hidden gem being on the 7th floor you do have to show ID and check in with security. But any brides getting married in the north loop should definitely consider Seven, or anyone looking to go somewhere for a party or after an event, we had such a great time! Went there for karaoke & $5 margarita Friday to celebrate my birthday. It's inside an apartment building so you would t expect r a bar/restaurant in there. The bartender/waitress was really nice and attentive. She made the margaritas strong and always came to check l on us. When it was time for karaoke she had us write down our list of songs and she never missed a beat even when she had other customers. The food was really good especially for the price. Bad delivery: driver dropped off food and didn't notify us, so we discovered it 20 minutes later. This, after I specifically said I did NOT want contactless delivery in the driver notes. He should've dropped it off at the (manned) front desk, but ignored my request. Bad food: the "gyro" (quotes are necessary; see photo) was missing the extra lettuce I had paid for, and the hockey stick shaped, pre-formed, frozen-gyro-kit- from- your-grocers-freezer mystery meat was hardly worth the 11 DOLLARS they charge for it. I have been here twice for desi comedy shows and have had a great time! The comics are very funny - my favorites from last time are Hari, Sohrab and Sabeena. The sound system is great and I love it how easily they turn the place around for DJ nights (Bollywood), karaokes or a divey bar feel at regular times. The event usually stars 30 mins late, so be on time to get good seats. Drinks are reasonably priced, but no beer on draft. Hidden in the Outer Drive East Condominium building, on the 7th floor, is Seven. A restaurant and bar serving breakfast (on Saturdays and Sundays), lunch and dinner Like the name? It actually should be called Two, as even though the elevator button says 7- you only go up one floor from the lobby. Strange, I know. You also have to sign in with the guard to get up to the restaurant but they are used to it and very accommodating. We wandered the 7th floor (it's under alot of construction right now) and viola! Found ourselves in a bar with a new pool table, jukebox. many TV's and friendly people from the neighborhood (which seems to be the people living in the high rise condos around there and some workers from a nearby office) While we only tasted some of the bar food (nachos, quesadillas and wings) they were all good with the nachos being the clear winner. So many toppings it was hard to find the chips under the all the beef, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, peppers, sour cream, salsa and onion. Quite tasty! And for only $6.95- it's hard to go wrong! Additionally the menu has sandwiches, pizza, salads, and a few dinner plates like "steak dinner", spaghetti and meatballs and chicken alfredo. Drinks were good (and strong- "more soda please") and the bartenders were accommodating even sending someone out to get more vodka when we had drank them dry! Looks like it would be a good spot in the Summer as well as there is a patio deck overlooking the pool. Seven offers FREE delivery (not sure if that is only in the building or not) and they even do catering. Turns out the whole place is being remodeled so the rather stark interior will hopefully change. If you drive- there is a parking garage in the building (runs about $18) or you can find street parking down the block. Insultingly Small Portions. Late Hours. Friendly staff. I stopped in for the first time for a late night meal. I talked with manager and was happy to learn that he was friendly and that this was a family business. I was hungry, so I asked about 5 or 6 different dishes. I was leaning towards an omelette (hard to mess that up), but I let the manager talk me into one of 5 new dishes I had seen online. The items had no price posted and weren't on the menu. I assumed they were $6-$8 each. When I got the tab, it the meal was $12 - $5 more than the omelette I was considering aloud- and I was surprised. The food took about 20 minutes, so by that point I didn't care, I just wanted to eat. The food I got felt light in the take out bin, but I took it back to my condo with fervor. When I opened up my dinner, I was just plain disappointed. A few small pieces of chicken, a half-hearted salad, some rice and pita. I said out loud "Never again." and wolfed down the meal anyway. I'm confused as to why they would do that. If you know I'm a first time customer, and that I'm really hungry, why would you give me such a pricey and skimpy ass meal? We visited this place on 31st night, when they had Bollywood night event going on. I was going there with my wife and few other friends (couples) as well - with us being Desi, Bollywood songs brings more connect and the DJ was playing all awesome Bollywood number - simply loved the experience. Shortfall - they had was that the club was buzzing with a lot of people and the place/ dance floor is small and hence with a lot of people in there out of capacity allowed became overcrowded and hit as we approached 12. Chill, no frills dive bar with super friendly service, food and a local crowd. If you live nearby it's definitely worth the trip if you're looking for a super chill atmosphere some food and drinks. This is a bar in a residential building and I was here for a stand up comedy show. I read reviews before I went, so I knew not to expect great food- which was true. The drinks were also just okay. What I like about the space is, it's kind of a hidden bar that people wouldn't know about unless they either lived in or around the building or coz of events like these. So it's the perfect place to host a desi stand up as it caters to a specific audience. The space itself is pretty cool, and I heard that often times they have Bollywood dance nights. Just came here with my boyfriend. The service was great : ) Our waitress was really friendly. I got the shrimp pasta and he got the chicken alfredo. We were both really satisfied and had leftovers. The restaurant has a really interesting feel. I imagine for the people living in the building, It's almost like being in college and having the food in the same building as your dorm. It actually sounds amazing. I'm pretty jealous of that. The prices here are incredibly reasonable for a restaurant in Chicago too. I feel like I'm going to choose this place over most in the loop from now on. Tip: In order to get in, you have to enter the Outer Drive East by the south entrance. Once inside, you'll see a desk on the right where someone will take your ID and make a copy of your picture to put on a little sticky 'guest' name-tag. I actually have been looking for this place on yelp to write a review and also to go back again!!!! I went here on new year's night with a bunch of friends. We were just walking down the street to see fireworks but were all hungry so decided to stop by somewhere close to eat something quick. I live in the building and am a frequent customer. Many times, coming home late from work, I'll stop and grab dinner. The food is always excellent. When I have company, we often stop there. I avoid the comedy nights and Bollywood themed events because I like it for a place to have a quiet good meal, conversations, and drinks. I have never had a bad meal there. Best place to start is with one of my favorite places in Chicago - Seven Bar & Restaurant located in the 400 E. Randolph building. Don't let the mirrored walls, orange paint, and discoball fool you, this place has everything: great bar food, cheap drinks, awesomely (yes its a word) nice bartenders and servers, great jukebox, and is never crowded. Fortunately for me that most of the residents of the Lakeshore East community are too snobby to ever considering going to this place. Seriously, if you live in the Lakeshore East community, consider this as a great Friday night spot. I've never had a bad time here and if you are looking for a place to hang out with your friends where you basically get the bar to yourself for a couple of hours, this is the place to go. Great place to watch a game, too. If you are the type of person that craves the hustle and bustle of a crowded, meat market sports bar, this place is not for you. It's a small little bar mostly for residents, other people will have their Ids scanned to get in. The bar is small divey in a not so divey location. There's usually one person working there. A little piece of suburban dive bar smack-dab in the middle of East Lakeshore. Look, its not The Violet Hour, but if you are looking for $2 domestic bottles and fully-loaded $6 nachos this is your kind of place. The servers are all great as well, and you can see that there is definitely a 'regulars' crowd, which I personally like. Between the loose electrical wires and sub quality service (taking into account this is a dive bar) and the overall atmosphere with noise coming from the lone tv playing the wheel of fortune behind the bar, I was nervous about what to order for dinner. I decided on the pizza and was very happy with it. If I were rating the pizza alone, it would be a 3.5 star, but the other factors bring this down to a 2 star dive bar. !! FYI this is in a resendential building, so they scan your drivers license in the lobby for security purposes. Its just a little off-putting and takes extra time. For a late lunch on the weekend, the place was empty. It seems like it transforms into really hopping place at night though with plenty of dance lighting and a cozy stage, not too small, not to large. Went here for lunch the other day. Got a brief history about the place from my friend while walking there. Apparently this used to be the hip place to live in the 60s and those that were lucky enough to nap a place, never left. The building would be the coolest retirement home if it were the case but it's an apartment complex. They have that really neat dome that's shaped like a soccer ball. The bar is awesome! It's bingo hall meets 70s night club - if you can imagine that. The service is great! I got a tuna salad sandwich with fries. The fries are to die for! They remind me of the fries they have at Checkers, but better. My friends Caesar salad was really good. Everyone that came in ordered the chicken wings so that must be the thing to get. Stopped in for lunch today with a friend after getting a coupon in a community newsletter and although it seemed strange to be headed up to the 7th floor of a residential building (having to make it through the checkin and the doorman) and it seemed like a dive THE FOOD WAS FANTASTIC! We ordered a large pizza and buffalo wings and the pizza, you could tell, was made of fresh and tasty sauce and had bountiful toppings and cheese. The Buffalo Wings were fried nice and crisp and the blue cheese sauce didn't seem to be that bottle-flavored stuff. Great drinks without cheap liquor at an appropriate price. Super friendly service, and prompt as well. Not much on decor or ambiance but more than makes up for it in value. For any neighborhood, let only LSE, it has cheap drinks and food. Food I would describe as well executed bar food recipes with cheap ingredients. But for $4 wings and $6 nachos/burgers you can't expect organic tofu burgers. They should really limit the number of people rather than just letting the place over crowd. The drinks seemed to be reasonably priced but seemed diluted. The Dj was bad.
