The renovations didn't make a difference and they clearly are understaffed at this location. The place is pretty filthy with the floors being sticky and the restrooms are dirty as well. The price for a Friday-Sunday meal is around $35 ayce. The service is not good at all. I've been here twice and they always forget your requests for simple things such as napkins and water. The food quality is just alright, nothing special. Overall: I wouldn't recommend coming here to eat at this location specifically. read more

Been coming to this Shabuya for years, even before the renovation. I finally noticed it had reopened after the remodel (which finished around November last year), so I stopped by today to see how everything turned out Overall, the layout and setup feel very familiar, which is a good thing. The selection is mostly the same, although I did notice a few side items are missing--sadly including some of my favorite noodles. The chicken karaage looks quite different from before, but it still tastes okay. Gyoza is now ordered directly through your server instead of being self-serve, which is a small change but worth noting As always, the meat remains the star of the show. The quality is consistently good, and that's really what keeps me coming back. The menu options have changed a bit, and they no longer separate certain items into dinner- or weekend-only menus. Prices have also gone up about $8 compared to before, but the quality has stayed consistent. The soup base selection is still solid, and you can even mix broths if you want to customize your hot pot experience The center island offers plenty of seafood options, including crab, squid, and shrimp, along with a good variety of vegetables and mushrooms. There were also orange slices available for a refreshing finish. Most items looked fresh, though a few seemed like they had been sitting out a little longer than others. Overall, everything was clean, well-maintained, and still good quality You can grab rice on the side and create your own sauce combinations at the sauce bar, which is always one of my favorite parts of hot pot Service can be a little slow at times, but whenever we needed something and flagged someone down, the staff was friendly and quick to help. The atmosphere is relaxed, with regular music playing rather than a themed soundtrack, making it easy to hold a conversation. The TVs were showing NBA games with subtitles, which was a nice touch for sports fans. And also it has free parking in the plaza Overall, it's great to see this location back in action. First time here at Shabuya in Alhambra and this place was super fun. It is a hot pot all-you-can-eat spot which gives you 90 mins of dining. You first pick your broth and I had picked miso and then you go off to get your vegetables and seafood options. The beef and lamb you have to order from your server. We haven't been to this location in a couple years but finally came back last night. We were seated immediately which was nice, looked over the menu server was already asking what meats we wanted (felt very rushed) floors were extremely sticky which was a bit of a red flag since other reviews stated the same. The bar was filled with a lot of options I just wish they had more veggies like broccoli or carrots etc. the bathrooms needed some attention badly as well. once we slowed down on eating we had to find a server for our check (they had been coming every few minutes asking if we wanted more meat then once we said we were done after the last round no one came back) this place is really good but I'm not sure if we will be back anytime soon. read more

Stopped by on Friday, 01/16/26 to celebrate my boyfriend's early birthday and before my Asia Vacation trip the next day! This is my second time trying out Shabuya and my first time at this particular location. My boyfriend has been here numerous times and told me that this place was closed for a while and now they are back in business! $32.99 per person (after 3pm, weekends, and holidays). Also got one fountain drink for $2.99 and a draft beer (Modelo) for $8.99 with tax and $10 tip, the total cost was $92.85. I personally feel like this is worth the money because there are tons and tons of seafood options and mushrooms too! Solid spot for AYCE hotpot, been coming here on occasions here n there over the years. It's now $32.99 for AYCE dinner on weekdays and weekends which is decently affordable. Restaurant is pretty clean and very spacious. Tables are pretty big on the side and in the middle are table and chair type seating while the sides are one big table and sofa type seats. The meat selection for AYCE is sizeable, you can order 4 plates at a time, and they come out pretty quick. Soup base options are plentiful as well, but I opted for the original house special, but there are plenty of options as well. Since each person has their own pot, the options are endless. I particularly enjoy the fact that you can pace yourself as you go. Love the ramen noodle options here, fish balls, and veggies as well. Everything else is pretty standard compared to other AYCE hotpot spots. Overall, a pretty standard hotpot restaurant, pretty standard in food selections, price, and vibe overall. I was meeting up with my buddy and fellow Yelper Ryan L. and Shabuya was a spot where he could eat well and I can eat healthy. Regular Pricing after 3pm, weekends, and holidays are $33.99/person. For all of those who are not familiar with Shabuya. This is an all you can eat shabu restaurant. Each diner gets an individual hot pot with a soup base of their choice between original house soup, miso soup, tonkotsu pork soup, huo guo soup, sukiyaki soup, and vegetarian soup. You are able to order meats from the staff, including prime chuck tender, angus beef brisket, prime beef belly, us wagyu sirloin tip, angus top blade, natural pork belly, natural pork collar, free range chicken, and lamb. They have a buffet area that is self-serve with plenty of vegetables, seafood, noodles, popular accompaniments of hot pot, and a sauce bar. Staff was really friendly and attentive. They came throughout the night to ask us if we wanted more meats. They also have a great layout where even though it was busy, it didn't feel crowded. This is our second time visiting Shabuya since they reopened and we are happy that Shabuya is back! I made reservations on Yelp since we had a larger party, but given it was a weekday and an early dinner, the reservation wasn't necessary. However, it was noticeable that they were out of key items that should have been available for an AYCE shabu shabu - some sauces and a hot food item we tried to order (chicken karaage). The staff was attentive, friendly and most importantly, fast to refill our meat options. Since we were a larger party, they accommodated us by providing additional plates of meat. Ordering was a little confusing. For my visit it appeared that you order everything but meat with the staff (no dedicated staff for your table) and order on your phone through a QR code for the meat. Shabuya Alhambra was a great experience! The space is huge and has tons of seating and tables inside. I would say it's 2-3 times bigger than the OG location in k-town, and the wait is much shorter. The induction stoves here are individual vs the shared split pot you get at the older location. I prefer this because the soup seems to heat up faster w a personal bowl. The only down side is the guy we had he pour broth in the bowl of soup, he pour it and it splash all over the place, unprofessional and not good experience with pouring broth in the bowl, common sense and thats bad. This place you choose your broth and they bring out for you and you cook it yourself in your own bowl, you would have to get your veggie, seafood, and your sauce you can added to your dipping. Lunch price (11:30am-3pm) was $25.99. Dinner price was 32.99. Came Friday night for the soft opening (20% off) at 7pm. Put our party of 3 on their Yelp waiting list at 7:03pm. The estimated wait time was 107-137 minutes. Instructed to return at 8:55pm. Walked around the plaza before returning to restaurant at 8:30pm. FYI US Supermarket closed at 8pm. The host said he thinks they close at 10:30pm. We were thinking that works out since they limit 90minutes of eating and were estimated to be seated at 9pm. A new host arrived around 8:45pm. Took her a minute to figure out what's going on. We never got the text at 8:55pm so we asked her what's going on at 9:05pm. She said we should've checked in at 8:55pm... We hung around until we finally got the text and got seated at 9:15pm. We wait 2 hours and 15 minutes to get seated. It was hard to get service. When we did, were allocated 4 meat order per table. We were informed last call was 9:30pm. Are you fking kidding! We were allowed to ordered as many meat as we wanted so that's what we did. They didn't announce what meat was what so we're not sure what's good. We kept asking for water, but it never came. We had to ask multiple waiters for more napkins and soup. The "salad" bar was not good. They had basic vegetables like corn, bok choy, mushrooms, and lettuce. They also had chicken eggs, small clams, small mussels, shrimp, and tofu. Some of the trays were empty. We were sad there was no quail eggs. They allowed us to eat until 11:15pm before kicking us out. We did get the 20% off but would not return again. We watch him sit 10 tables ahead of us until we ask what happened to our reservation. He looks down and I see he was using receipts to keep track of waiting parties... he did not write our names down... he says sorry and say us right away. After we got sat down, it took 10 minutes for a waiter to walk up. This guy walks up and ask what we want without even giving us a menu. If he looked at our table he'd be able to see... After that we got our first order and went to the bar. Our waiter never came back to ask us what we needed after that. After 30 minutes I see him walk by and he was about to walk past us until I call out. We then finally get our second round of meat... Honestly ridiculous service. We see him help other tables like 3 times before even walking by our table. thank goodness another waiter picked up our table for him, bless his soul. One thing to keep in mind is the restaurant doesn't seem ready for their opening as some issues arose with their restaurant. I understand that they just had their reopening and many of us came for the discount, but the host at the time didn't even write our name down. We made a reservation for 7:15 PM and the host mentioned that they were waiting for the tables to be cleaned. Yet, the host sat TEN tables ahead of us. Only when I had mentioned after 10-15 minutes that we were waiting, then the host apologized and sat us down. In addition, when we sat down, no menu was given to us, so my partner and I had to wait for a server to come and help us with our order. But even when a waiter came to us, he asked us to know our order before even looking at our menu. In addition, our server didn't check in on us after THIRTY minutes of waiting! We had to flag down another server in order to get another round of meat. For the chicken karaage, the pieces are HUGE but there was no flavor in the chicken. The yuzu/spicy mayo carried all the flavor. I got the sukiyaki soup, and you can choose your variety for meats, veggies and carbs. ALSO make sure you ASK for the free soft drinks. I only knew about the free soft drinks because I saw another review on the free soft drinks compared to the server letting me know. The ambiance of the restaurant was a bit loud. Overall experience, be prepared to wait, check with the host constantly and make sure to flag the waiters in order to get the meals. TIP for the restaurant: PLEASE have the host write the names on a clipboard and keep in mind of reservations as well. I understand that the restaurant is crazy during this reopening but keep in mind and track of parties is a KEY to great business. A host should not be writing down names on RECEIPT paper which can easily be lost. In addition, PLEASE make sure your servers keep track of their guests' table and check in every once in a while. Not getting a check in after 30 minutes is a bit ABSURD seeing that they would check in and offer other tables the meat and WALK RIGHT PAST US when my hand was being raised. I recommend maybe having a call waiter or staff button if possible in order to have customers' needs to be met. TIP for CUSTOMERS: They're restrooms in the back for males and females.Check in with the host if their booking system isn't updated yet. Flag down servers if you need something. The bins to clean tables were in the way and elders in walkers or wheelchairs had difficulty maneuvering the area. I was in a booth seating to the side. People were standing way too close to my personal space while I ate and felt a little uncomfortable. The selection of veggies and other stuff here are okay. The broth is pork, no beef. The spicy was only mala which I can't handle. Also, I'm not a fan of the numbing spice. The veggies are ample, but you can only order 4 orders of meat per table. This is unfortunate. Services have gone downhill the last couple of times and tonight was the last straw. It used to be good services and now you have to flag someone down or chase them down. They are closed at 10pm and last call at 9:30pm. We were there by 9pm and there are no host. We waited for a while before I flagged down a waiter and he came over to said the last seating is 9pm and he won't seated us although we there by then with no exceptions. When I checked the time, it was 9:07pm and I waited longer than that. When I asked where did it said that? He has to look around for the information, which he found in a small happy hour special flyer in fine print. I asked for the manager or contact that this information should be posted other than 10pm closing time in front and 9:30pm as last call in the tv, which I believe 30 minutes are more than sufficient time to eat. Another waiter came over and neither can get the manager or provide the information for corrections. So beware in case you drive a long way for Shabu like me. We visited their Vegas location recently and couldn't stop thinking about the deliciousness of Shabuya. So when we discovered there is a location near us in Alhambra, we made the drive to check it out! We loved the concept of the veggie and sauce bar and ordering the meats off the menu. My daughter and I came in on a random Monday and were promptly seated. The restaurant was busy for a Monday! Very good sign. We were very disappointed to see that they didn't have various items on their menu that we loved in the Vegas location. The only appetizers they offered at this location was chicken karage, fried potstickers, sesame balls, and veggie spring rolls. In Vegas they offered several amazing sushi rolls, potato patty and others. Unfortunately this location had "sold out" of their karage and that's not ok. It was after asking three separate servers where our karage order was that finally one said they sold out. For meats we ordered the wagyu beef, pork shoulder, and regular beef. They came out promptly. The self serve bar had steamed rice, tons of seafood, endless veggies, noodles, eggs, dumplings you name it for the broth. Overall it was a good experience. read more

Solid choice for shabu shabu. Shabuya is a chain but a reliable one at that. They weren't that crowded for lunch so we were seated right away. Even when it does get crowded, the bar Each person has their own soup base but you also have the option to choose 2. My favorites are the sukiyaki and a tonkotsu especially after a long inebriated night. You get to choose all the fixin's you want to put in your soup from noodles, vegetables, and even seafood. I suggest going for unusual items to get your fill but still maximizing on all the meat they offer. All the meat selections are wonderful! Plenty of guides online on how to make the perfect sauce from the sauce bar. If not, you can also ask the servers for what they think. Personally I think a sesame base is the best for hotpot. Meat quality is great, veggies are fresh. Seafood I think isn't exactly the best for whatever reason I can't quite describe. They all look good though. read more

First time at Shabuya and it was pretty good! We came on a Sunday around 12:30 and there was no wait but they don't seat you until your entire party is here. It's a little pricey for hotpot but it is AYCE. They have a pretty big selection of seafood so if you love seafood you'll definitely make your moneys worth. They also have a pretty large selection of veggies for you to choose from. And the sauces! I definitely enjoyed trying each one. My table each ordered the original house soup base. It was not too salty which I really appreciated. We were able to order 5 plates of meat each time. The servers come by frequently to ask if you want to make another order. Most of the cuts we tried were pretty good. There's a time limit of 90 min but they didn't really seem to enforce that with us. We did leave around 90 min later but at no point in time did they tell us or rush us that our time was almost up. Overall, pretty good experience! read more

I came here on a Sunday night, and while busy, only had to wait about 10-15 minutes on the waitlist before getting seated. Shabuya is a typical AYCE shabu place, you first order with the server the broth you want, and then the proteins, and then you can go the vegetable and seafood bar to get your own stuff to boil. There is also a sauce bar. While the selection of meats was decent and good quality, there were some nitpicks that made me think Shabuya was just an average AYCE shabu place. One thing was that compared to when it first opened, they cut down on some of the vegetable options. There was no tong ho and bok choy, which I love. There used to be those fish balls filled with roe which now doesn't really exist. The lobster roe balls didn't have much roe in them. Second was the questionable cleanliness of the sauce bar and my cup. The sauce bar had some sauces that had some other sauces that were mixed in, like the sesame peanut sauce getting some chili oil cross contaminated into the mix. It feels like how they arrange the sauces makes it easy for people to accidentally screw up and get some sauces dripped into other sauces. For my cup, it was simply dirty with black spots and I actually didn't notice until drinking into my cup. The server was nice to get my cup changed to a new one though. I didn't get sick luckily, but I did feel bloated after my meal, which I never had in my prior visits to Shabuya before it closed for remodeling. Despite those flaws, at least the quality of the meats and soup was good, along with decent service, but they could stand for some improvement in the cleanliness aisle and adding better vegetable and fish ball options. Hands-down my favorite hot pot location. Good variety of items to choose from, and a ton of different sauce options. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Good atmposhere. While there are certainly other hot pot locations in the area with higher quality ingredients, they are also much more expensive. This place offers great value for your dollar, especially if you come during lunch and happy hour (past 8PM, every day). At 27 bucks per person (as of June 2026), I'm finding it hard to complain about anything. I guess the only minor issue I might have is that the serving area could be kept a bit more clean and tidy. read more

Shoutout to our server, Derick! It was his first day on the job and he did amazing! Super attentive and made sure we enjoyed our experience to the fullest. He constantly checked in to make sure we had enough meat and broth -- we never even had to flag him down. Keep up the great work, Derick! It did take a little while to get seated even with the Yelp Check-In on a Thursday, but that's understandable since it's their soft opening week and everyone's still getting into the rhythm. (Just be patient -- it's worth it!) I ordered the original broth and it was really tasty. I loved that everyone got their own bowl, so we could all customize our meals just the way we liked. The meat quality was excellent -- not too thin -- and the veggie & add-on bar had a huge variety of veggies, seafood, noodles, and sauces! I did notice a few items that I've seen at other locations were missing, but overall the selection was still great. Definitely would come back again! read more
