Finally decided to try All That Shabu in Alhambra this past weekend, and I was pleasantly surprised. When we arrived on a Saturday night, the restaurant was moderately busy, but the wait wasn't outrageous. Our server did a great job explaining how everything worked. It's 90 minutes of all-you-can-eat for $35.00 per person, and you're allowed to order up to three types of meat per round. The restaurant is set up well. Off to the left is a self-serve station stocked with vegetables, mushrooms, tofu, seafood, and other hot pot essentials. Drinks are also self-serve, and they even have a soft-serve ice cream machine if you want something sweet after your meal. One thing I really appreciated was the variety of hot foods available. They offered items you don't typically find at a standard shabu restaurant, which was a nice surprise. I also noticed a sign explaining that the hot food selection changes regularly, so each visit may offer something a little different. There's also a dipping sauce station where you can customize your sauces exactly how you like them. I ordered the house broth, which had a mild, lingering spice. It added plenty of flavor without leaving that overpowering heat that lingers long after you're done eating. My partner chose the miso broth, which was rich, creamy, and earthy--you really can't go wrong with a good miso broth. The meat is sliced fresh after you place your order, and you can definitely tell the difference. The slices were tender and cooked beautifully in the broth. They also offer four different noodle options. I went with the classic egg noodles this time, but next visit I'll probably try the buckwheat noodles since it's been a while since I've had a good bowl with them. When you're finished, you simply pay near the entrance, making the checkout process quick and easy. My only real complaint was that it was a little difficult to flag someone down when I needed more broth added to my pot. I like keeping enough broth in the pot so it doesn't begin to scorch the bottom, and it took a bit longer than expected to get someone's attention. Other than that, I really enjoyed the overall experience. The staff gives you plenty of space to enjoy your meal without constantly interrupting, making it a great place to catch up with family and friends. The music was at a comfortable volume, allowing conversations and laughter to fill the room without having to talk over loud speakers. One thing to keep in mind if you're coming with a large group: the largest table I saw comfortably seated six people. Since the tables are bolted to the floor, larger parties will likely need to split between multiple tables. Overall, I'd definitely come back. Between the fresh meats, customizable broths and sauces, the rotating hot food selection, and the relaxed atmosphere, All That Shabu is a great spot if you're looking for quality hot pot in a laid-back setting. At $35.00 per person, I thought it was a great value. With tax and tip, our total came to $92 for two people, which felt very reasonable for an all-you-can-eat meal with fresh ingredients and plenty of variety. This is one of my go-to shabu-shabu spots. The spicy broth is my favorite and always hits the spot. The quality of the crab and shrimp is great, and I love the variety of side dishes, including japchae, fried chicken, and tteokbokki. Drinks and ice cream are included, which makes the experience even better. The parking lot is spacious, the service is friendly, and the meat is served quickly. Great japanese style hotpot, as the name suggests. Service is warm, friendly and fast. It's a huge place with common hotpot place setup, a tiny bit more cramped though so you slightly can whiff the food on the next table. Could be good for you, or the opposite. Disclaimer first, i'm a huge fan of chinese style hotpot. Luckily all that shabu offers a selection of broth and sauces. They are true japanese style, so don't expect mala here, even the chili oil is a bit hidden on containers a bit away from the sauce bar. I tried the spicy beef broth, it has miso flavor and slightly tangy undertone. It has heat, but not spicy at all. The spicy pine sauce and wasabi ponzu (the best!) fulfills my search for heat in this place. All the sauces (except sesame sauce) has acidity/tangyness in it. The meat are good quality and very thin so it's ready in just a few dips. The brisket is fatty, and it's my favorite but only at this place thanks to the acidic profile that cuts through the rich fats. The short plate is very thin and tender, the flat iron steak is more lean. The chuck eye is kinda the middle ground. Unfortunately lamb only served as dinner menu. The vegetable and mushrooms bar have adequate variety, but they only have two kinds of tofu which is soft tofu and fried tofu pockets. No beancurds/tofu skin. They have more selection in seafood though. There's ice cream, soda fountain, green tea and black tea, and even buffet food like fried rice and wonton etc. Overall it's a well-priced hotpot for good quality ingredients, with japanese style broths. I had All That Shabu a really long time ago in Irvine and remember loving it, but there's just so much competition in OC so I haven't been back in years! I tried it again with my friend the other day because we were in the area. I thought it was just okay and probably wouldn't come back here specifically because there's just a lot of better places, but this isn't bad at all for the price. The inside was huge and dimly lit, and they had a large self serve bar for hot sides, drinks, hot pot toppings like veggies and seafood, sauces, and dessert. It was a great vibe! There's a pretty large variety of broths to pick from which is nice. We both got the spicy beef, which tasted rich and tomatoey so it was different than a typical beef bone broth that I expected! It was nice because the acidity helped to balance with the richness of the meats. Of all the meats, our favorites were the brisket and the beef short plate. Personally I like to know which meats are which but sometimes when I asked, the servers couldn't really tell them apart so it kinda sucked because I wanted to know which ones I actually liked to order more of those. They were quick with taking our orders though and meats came out really quick. For hot sides, they had a large variety of things, such as fried rice, crab, crispy fried chicken, kimchi, and more. This is a place we treat ourselves too often. The variety at the buffet area is forever and there's something for everybody. They have a warm food area, vegetables, fish area, and etc. The meat selection on the menu is good, and we often get a variety, my favorite is #10 the beef flap. They also have five broths to choose from. Then once you eat all you can eat so much, you can treat yourself to some soft ice cream after. Service is good, they come around often asking if you want to order more meats. The ambience is definitely on the louder side, which works perfect when you have kids. read more

Some people get half spicy and half bone. Service was really good. When we were running low on meat they came by to ask if we wanted more. They have a sauce bar where yiu can make your own dipping sauce. Mines consist if garlic, green onion, ponzu and the wasabi green things. I came here with a friend on a Saturday night, and there was about a 30-minute wait. We waited and were seated within that time frame. I honestly can't believe how busy all the AYCE places are on a Saturday night. After we sat down, a server came by to ask which broth we wanted. I asked what was popular, and he recommended the beef bone broth, so I went with that. My friend ordered the spicy beef broth after the server assured her it wasn't too spicy. I ended up finding my broth a bit bland and later added some of the spicy beef broth to give it more flavor. We tried different beef cuts as well as lamb. Honestly, there wasn't a huge difference among the beef cuts, except that the filet mignon was leaner and therefore chewier than the others. The lamb was okay. We ended up eating more from the bar, which included vegetables, seafood, and cooked dishes. I really liked the corn because it was sweet, and I also enjoyed the chrysanthemum greens (tung ho), which I ate a lot of. As for the cooked food, the deep-fried crab was just okay. The highlights were the japchae and the tteokbokki, while the bulgogi wasn't anything special. At the sauce bar, they had a lot of Japanese-style sauces like ponzu, sesame sauce, and wasabi ponzu. Soy sauce and chili oil weren't at the sauce bar but were located near the drink station. Speaking of drinks, the unsweetened green tea and black tea were also bland. They weren't sweet, but they also lacked a strong tea flavor. I'd say the drinks here aren't great unless you're going for soft drinks. They also had rice available in a large rice cooker if you wanted some. For dessert, they offer soft-serve vanilla and chocolate ice cream. My friend tried it and liked it. I had the sesame balls instead, which were okay. Overall, everything here was just alright. With a $34.99 weekend dinner price, I guess it's reasonable given inflation--if you can eat enough to justify it. This was definitely a great Hotpot place to go if you love a variety of vegetables if you love tons and tons of meat in your soup. It's a great time if you have plenty of time to do hot pot. I don't recommend this if you don't really eat a lot at hot pot places or if you really like just the one bowl of food this is not it for you but great for groups. Great for people who wanna share. I love the variety. I think my favorite part was the dessert. They offer a soft serve ice cream. Really love the options so many different types of vegetables and if you're looking to get your protein on, this is definitely a great place. Parking can be tough since it's located in a pretty busy shopping plaza and its parking lot is shared with many other businesses Expect there to be at least an hour wait if you come on the weekends! On weekdays 11:30-3:00pm - $27.99 and 3pm - closing, weekend, and holidays is $33.99 Ordering is easy - select your own broth (6 options) and I recommend the House Special. There is a good variety of meats (7 different options during lunch and 11 different options during dinner and weekends). You can only order up to 3 items each round! Well she didn't explain anything at all but that's okay LOL. I actually didn't know there was a hot food bar all the way at the end. I guess that's my fault for assuming each station had the same thing! Nonetheless, still had a great experience. Quick with meat orders. I had the house broth my husband had the beef bone broth. The house broth was on the lighter side, but that's the great thing about hot pot. The more you cook into your broth, the better the flavor develops. They also have things like, salt, pepper, soy sauce, chili oil, vinegar ect.. in a bin next to the ice cream machine. I wish this was moved closer to the sauce bar because I wouldn't have guessed it would be there. I think it's funny when people complain about their pot or sauce not being good. My coworker took me to this spot, it's her family's favorite. For $34 you get AYCE with sauces and drinks included. Great deal for the amount of food you get. Service is fast and responsive, so although there is a time limit I felt that we were full within the time given. Surprised to see seafood items such as shrimp here as it's more pricy and I could see people loading up on plates of it, if only I wasn't allergic... The variety of noodles is sublime, but don't get distracted with fillers stick to the premium four meats on the lower right of the menu and you'll be solid. At the end of the meal I like to top off with soft serve ice cream because there's always room for dessert. read more

Poor ventilation, you will leave smelling exactly as what everyone cooks. A bit messy in parts of the restaurant i.e. the walkway leading up to the restroom. Service: came on a Sunday night, lined up about 40 minutes to get a table at 635 pm. When we were seated we were immediately asked what broth we wanted, meats (limited to 4 meats for the rounds), and given cups for our drinks (included in ayce). After that, it was pretty difficult to find someone or flag someone to replenish our meats. Towards the end when it was our last call, they did come by to ask for meats without having to wave us down. But we were rushed to leave and pay despite the fact that there was no line or people waiting for our table, and we were just chatting. Food: very disappointed in the quality of the meat. We had ordered the weekend special ribeye and it was incredibly lean as if it was eye of round cut. We ordered it twice in case they had given us the wrong meat, but for some reason it was still lean and looked different also. When the meat was placed on the table, there was so explanation as of which cut is which. There also wasn't much room on the table for dirty meat plates so I was having to hand plates around and take it back to stack. The broth we selected was bone broth, sukiyaki, and spicy beef. All were very diluted and nearly flavorless. The cold bar did have a lot of variety and the hot foods were average but offered many filling options such as ddukboki, fried chicken, japchae as we waited a long time to get our meats. The ambiance has a cool and modern feel. For our broth, we had the Original House. You have a choice of Miso, Vegetarian, Beef Bone, Spicy Beef and Sukiyaki. The best dipping sauce out of all the ones they had there in my opinion is the sesame dip. It is a little bit tangy with some sweetness in it. For the meat, we got #1 Angus Beef Brisket and #3 Angus Flat Iron Steak. Both are delicious. Customers can order up to 3 items per round. There are a lot of choices of noodles, seafood, veggies, etc. For the drinks, you have sodas and iced teas (black tea and green tea) and alcoholic beverages. What makes this place unique also is that they have soft serve ice cream available for dessert. You do not have to go somewhere else! The flavors are vanilla, chocolate and half vanilla and half chocolate. No toppings available, but not a big deal at all. I really wanted to like All That Shabu, but unfortunately I had a very unpleasant experience. While having a fountain drink, I noticed something floating in my cup after taking a sip--turns out, it was a small roach. Needless to say, I was shocked and disgusted. I immediately let the staff know. The worker took my cup, spoke with his manager, and brought me a clean one. However, the way it was handled felt very nonchalant, almost like it wasn't a big deal. When we asked if they could offer a discount given what happened, it seemed like they really didn't want to, and in the end they only took $5 off the meal. It didn't feel like they took any real responsibility, and the response left me feeling brushed off. Accidents happen, but how a restaurant handles situations like this really matters. For me, the lack of genuine concern or proper acknowledgment was disappointing, and it's not an experience I'd want to repeat. read more

It was my first time coming here and I came here for my birthday but also a friend's going away get together. We had 5 people and they wanted to split us in 2 tables. They weren't close to each other so we requested a bigger table to sit together. Food was mediocre. Honesty probably won't be back. One of the servers was nice enough to store my cake away so that's nice of her. One incident that stood out to me was when we were trying to order more meat. There are 3 girls and 2 guys and we ordered maybe a plate each. A different guy server came to get our order and when we told him what we wanted, he said "are you sure? We charge for leftover meat and you guys don't look like you're going to finish it" it was more so the tone and look he gave us while saying all this that rubbed us the wrong way. I think the notification of charging for leftover meat should've been told in the beginning if he wanted to bring it up. It's common knowledge at ayce that leftover food is charged to discourage wastage but telling us that and saying we're not gonna finish it kinda rubbed us the wrong way. Well, we did finish it and we joked with the server like hey look we finished the meat and started laughing and he just dogged us and gave us an offended look. All That Shabu was a decent hotpot place I had during lunch. There is a shared parking lot, but it was very busy at around 1 PM. With a party of 3, we were able to get seated right away. The staff was also quick with assisting us get the broths. I decided to go for the miso broth. What I liked about this restaurant is that they have a self serve bar in the back. There was a lot of things to pick from such as fish balls, lettuce, ramen, etc. What I found interesting is that they also have warm foods in the corner. A regular here hot or cold weather, we come here every 2 months! Like the Fast Service. Food is great except 3x I've been here they always run out of or only have few morsels left of the fried crabs. My last visit I asked one of the guys: are you making more? He said: The lady cooking crabs is still on brake, so I returned after 12 mins same guy said....no more crabs that's it! My FAV HOT POT PLACE IN LA! ALL YOU CAN EAT Literally my fav hot pot place in la! I love that it's all you can eat and you can go and grab whatever sides you like. This place also has free drinks for you to choose from- I always get the Pink lemonade, it hits so good with the food. For the sauces I recommend adding: Ponzu sauce, Sesame, and the Peanut Sauce with green onions and cilantro. TRUST. The most amazing dipping sauce. Breakfast: Cheaper in price and good selection as always Dinner: Costs more like most places during dinner hour but they had this one delicious marinated crab and it was so addicting. Parking: Has free public parking. The area has a lot of stores so it does get pretty packed but shouldn't be hard to find parking, just crowded depending time of day. Food: Good meat and sides. I love shabu shabu so I was excited to come try all that shabu for a friends bday. We had a party of 7 so we waited a bit on a Saturday night but that's to be expected. For an AYCE restaurant, I was pretty pleased. It was clean, spacious, and servers were attentive! We were able to sample the broths and even mix our own concoctions. The meat quality was decent for the price.. the wagyu style beef was not waygu style tho.. I liked that the veggies were self serve and pretty fresh! They kept getting refilled throughout the night. The sauce bar was just okay.. the sesame sauce was way too watery for my liking and the rice was bit undercooked.. Overall decent bang for your buck esp in this economy read more
