Nothing like what was advertised on the multiple TikToks we saw. The popcorn at the entrance was stale, and the "tableware" consisted of cheap papplastic bowls and cups with paper plates. The food bar had barely any green vegetables, just lettuce and arugula, and only two meat options. The sauce station was a sticky mess. We were told skewers would come around every 15 minutes or so, but instead we were handed slightly burnt meat with no skewers on a cheap paper plate. I also watched employees carry dangerously hot plastic hot-pot bowls by the rims with their fingertips because management apparently didn't provide proper equipment. Someone could seriously get burned. I wasn't expecting luxury for $20, but this was ridiculous. After waiting more than 30 minutes for our food, we asked a server for an update and watched her walk away without getting back to us. We finally told another server to cancel everything and left. Not going back! This was such a disappointing and disorganized experience. The guy walking around with the beef and chicken was not serving actual skewers like the pictures on the menu. The meat was sitting on a tray, and the beef and chicken were dry and looked nothing like what was advertised. We waited 45 minutes just for him to come out and give us the "skewers" because he was busy doing other things. The sanitation was another major concern. The lady taking the bowls away from our table would stack all the bowls together and carry the entire stack back to the kitchen to cook with them. Why wouldn't they have a cart or something to transport the bowls properly? Or better yet, why not have customers cook their own hot pot at the table like you normally would? Watching our bowls being stacked up and taken back to the kitchen was just not sanitary or appealing. We also had to eat with paper bowls and plates, which made the experience feel very low-quality. The ice situation was questionable too--the ice cubes were stored above the condiments, and they would fall down into the soy sauce and just sit there. There were only three employees working, and they seemed completely overwhelmed. The restaurant is very small and extremely disorganized. There was no sign-up sheet at the restaurant, and the waiter was just walking around asking people who was first or second. You can join the waitlist through Yelp, but be prepared to wait. Maybe because we came on Labor Day it was very busy. Check in was a little weird, as there was no system or line but just one person keeping track of who came first. Basically it's like a Mao Cai place, where you choose your ingredients in line and then there are supposed to be skewers and dim sum passed around (although that happened later, dim sum is available at the buffet). Then they come around to take the pots for preparation - either soupy or dry. Drinks are also self serve, and there are some varieties of fountain or boxed/bottled drinks. I think the taste of the à la carte dim sum was a bit bland and dry, and the drinks weren't so good such as the milk tea and Thai tea. Getting the pots out took some time, but the taste was good. My Mala Mix pot was a bit salty but as expected. I wanted to give 3 stars but they put a good effort and for $19.99/person it's a great deal. I'm sure the kinks will get worked out soon. Do not come here during peak hours--seriously. The wait is insane, and on top of that, it seems like the staff seats their friends and family before people who have actually been waiting on the list. They clearly do not seem to follow the waitlist in order. I ended up waiting **1 hour and 40 minutes on a Saturday night**. I was stuck in the second spot for over half an hour. Meanwhile, I saw people leave and other parties get seated. Everyone in the waiting area noticed the same thing. Eventually, I had to speak up and point it out to one of the staff members. He told me he wasn't the host. But you were the one seating the last two tables, and those parties clearly had not been waiting there for long. I called him out and asked why other people were being seated while I had been waiting in second place for over half an hour. He finally seated my party. Isn't that ridiculous? And the horror of the night didn't end there. By the time I was finally seated, it was around **9:10 PM**, and I was starving after waiting for 1 hour and 40 minutes. All the drinks in the machines were out, so I had to ask the staff to refill them. It took a while, so I ended up getting a bottled sparkling iced tea instead. Then I went to the dim sum station because I desperately wanted to eat something immediately. Most of the dim sum was gone. There was maybe one piece of this and one piece of that left. This place was so packed that the staff couldn't even keep up with refilling the food. I grabbed a dumpling and a har gow and went back to the table. That's when another staff member came around with skewers, so I made sure to grab some. It appeared to be beef, and honestly, that was probably the best thing I had from the entire menu. Then I went to assemble my hot pot. The shrimp was completely gone, although they had just refilled the beef. And after all that, it took another 30 minutes for the hot pot to cook. Really? One hour and 40 minutes waiting to get seated, and then another 30 minutes waiting for the food? And when the hot pot was finally ready, the bone broth was disappointing too. Moreover, I was also surprised by the amount of disposable tableware used here. The hot soup was served in a disposable container, and plates, cups and other items were also disposable. While I was waiting outside, I kept seeing staff taking out bags of trash and wondered why there was so much. Once I sat down, I realized where much of it was coming from. Personally, I don't enjoy eating hot soup this way, and I also don't love the environmental impact of so much single-use waste. My friend saw that this place was $20 a person, so we went by to check it out because we heard it was unlimited skewers, hot pot and dim sum. Disclaimer: if you think you can come here and get dozens upon dozens of skewers, it doesn't work that way. They distribute skewers to all the tables every thirty minutes and you may get 1-2 at a time in those 30 minutes, so be aware that the skewers are like an addition to the soup or stir fry, not a main benefit. While you can go back and get multiple soups or stir fries per person, it is extremely unlikely you'll be able to eat more than one, especially if you eat the dumplings and other things, so I would recommend filling up your bowl with all the things you want in the first go. The pork bone broth was really creamy and enjoyable. I feel it was similar to the taste of something like cream of potato, and the mild spicy broth tasted like a mild ramen broth. The toppings from the veggies to the meat to the fish balls were really fresh and went well with the soup broth. The sauce bar gave you a lot of customizable options to make the sauce you want, which is nice. The boba station seems a bit misplaced since it's right next to the sauces, so I can see some people messing up their sauces to put boba in there haha. The dumplings here aren't any better than a dim sum place, so I wouldn't make this as the primary reason to come here either, but if you really want something like a shu mai, it doesn't fulfill that craving. The soup dumplings are pretty good for an all you can eat place too. When we learned that skewers came out every 30 minutes, our expectations were set on how many skewers we got, but before coming, we thought we could just order a bunch of them, so I think this was okay after understanding how it works, especially considering the place is only $20 a person. The skewers are a little saltier than most places make them, so even if they were all you can eat, it might not be possible to eat a lot of them. The seasoning on the skewers is good, however, despite their saltiness. You can get one free banana milk from their fridge, and then you can get unlimited refills on their jasmine tea, Thai tea and watermelon drink. I liked the jasmine tea the best, then the Thai tea. We didn't try the hot and sour soup or the egg drop soup, but those are available here as well. I think they have a cotton candy machine, but no one used it. They also have a popcorn machine too. If the place is busy, it can take some time for them to cook your soup for you just due to the pure volume of people in the restaurant, so you gotta be a little patient coming here. For $20 a person, I'm really not sure how this place makes money. I think they save money by having a lot of paper plates and utensils for like the sauces and stuff, but you still get a real spoon and bowl for your soup. The ambiance is cool and their ceiling is well decorated. I think for $20 a person, this is a pretty good bargain place to come eat. More "mildly spicy" than "my lips are questioning their life choices." The bigger disappointment was the hot food selection. Aside from some dim sum, there really wasn't much beyond the soups. The hot and sour soup was actually pretty good, though, so at least there was a little redemption there. And then there were the skewers... They took forever. The entire time we were sitting there, our table only managed to get two skewers. At that point, the skewers felt less like part of the buffet and more like a limited-time event. We came to Mebo Hot Pot about a month ago and had such a great experience! There were so many food options, everything came out super quickly, and we left really impressed. Unfortunately, we came back yesterday for dinner and it was a completely different experience. The buffet was basically empty--there was only fried rice, fried noodles, and some buns. We even asked for a bowl of white rice, and it never came. I also don't think they were understaffed because there seemed to be plenty of workers around. There just wasn't any food coming out. Then we waited 40 minutes for our hot pot and it still hadn't come out. That was the last straw for me, so we ended up leaving. After that, they will take it to the back of the kitchen to cook whatever you put in your bowl. They told us that if you want a second pot, that would be the limit. They had a waitlist iPad, but we were told they weren't actually seating based on the waitlist and were instead going by "faces," which made the process confusing and inefficient. Once we were seated, the experience became more straightforward. We picked out our own hot pot ingredients from the selection and brought them back to the table, while our server asked what type of soup base we wanted. They took our initials to help differentiate everyone's orders, which seemed like a good system. Unfortunately, when the soups arrived, some of the orders were switched around, so there was still some confusion. They also had a dim sum station with items like fried rice, noodles, egg rolls, and other bites. There was a cart circulating with grilled meats as well, although the portions they brought around to our table were pretty limited for a party of 6. Overall, I'd say the service was lacking a bit, but I also understand that they were clearly overwhelmed with the Labor Day lunch rush. You choose your broth and then build your hot pot however you want from the large selection of meats, seafood, vegetables, noodles, and other toppings. The price also includes drinks and dim sum, which makes the $19.99 price even more impressive. I went with the mala soup broth. The broth itself was okay. I've definitely had richer and more flavorful mala broths at other hot pot restaurants, so I wouldn't say the broth is the main reason to come here. What I did like was the variety of toppings available. There were plenty of choices, so everyone in the family could build their bowl exactly how they wanted. One thing that really surprised me was the drink selection. They had actual Korean banana milk, Thai tea, jasmine tea, and even a banana milkshake included with AYCE. Having all of that along with the hot pot toppings and dim sum makes this place a really good deal. Service started off good, but once the Saturday lunch rush hit and the restaurant filled up, you could tell the staff was overwhelmed. I don't really blame the employees because they were working hard and constantly moving. Honestly, the employees working that busy Saturday lunch rush were the real MVPs. It felt like the restaurant could easily use another 3 to 4 employees during peak hours to keep up with the crowd. The ambiance is casual and definitely more of a family hot pot spot than somewhere you're coming for a fancy dining experience. It got pretty loud once the restaurant filled up, but surprisingly, we were still able to have a conversation at a normal speaking volume without having to yell across the table. With everyone getting up to grab ingredients, there's definitely a lot going on, but that's also part of the AYCE hot pot experience. Parking can be challenging because the free parking lot is shared with a lot of other restaurants and businesses in the plaza. During a busy weekend lunch, you may have to circle around a little before finding a spot. Is Mebo Hotpot a five-star hot pot experience? Probably not. But at $19.99 per person with AYCE hot pot, dim sum, a surprisingly good drink selection, and plenty of ingredients to choose from, it's hard to complain about the value. I would definitely bring my family back, but next time we'll probably come on a weekday when it's less crazy. The AI menu is a bit of a preview to the quality you'll get. First to explain the way it works because they don't really. They seat you at a table and then you're free to grab a bowl and pick out your ingredients. You bring the bowl to your table and eventually a server will come out and ask for your soup/dry pot preference. They have six flavors of soup, tom yum was by far the best. Mala was missing that spiced punch I was looking for. In the meantime you can have dimsum items and make your sauce and drinks. The dimsum is pretty meh and lots of the dumplings are overcooked, lots of items are out and some sauce containers were totally empty when we came at 5:30PM. Their jasmine green milk tea was shockingly good especially with jellies. The hotpot was decent enough, though the wait for it is quite long during dinner time and the meat variety was fairly limited. Skewers were also meh, kind of a strange texture. Everything is served in single use paper or plastic, so it feels kind of cheap. Severely understaffed; everyone is running around frantically, and one of the servers said they don't have time to put meat on skewers so they just cook a big batch on a griddle and wheel it around serving a paper plate per table every once in a while. The staff are very polite and hardworking, but the amount of tasks they are trying to accomplish is just far too much. The long cook times and the "skewer" service make it hard to make the most of the AYCE experience you are promised, so it was more like getting a bowl of malatang with some cheap extra sides that are AYCE. The line can get pretty long during dinner so try to join the waitlist earlier. There was a huge crowd waiting outside by the time we left at 6:30 PM on a Saturday. First time trying since they converted into an AYCE hotpot place. Malatang or tang is more of an appropriate designation, though, since you fill up a bowl like at malatang restaurants and they cook it for you in the back. I miss their $10 specials from when they served dishes but I think this is a really good business conversion. First of all, the $20 price is available all day and kids under a certain height get discounted too from what I saw (A girl was priced at $10). You get a good amount of ingredients to choose from. While they only have pork or fatty beef options for sliced meat (my fav meat for hotpot is lamb), they also have some marinated options of chunkier pieces of meat. I believe I saw some pork and chicken varieties. They have a decent selection of veggies, tofu, mushrooms, and noodles as well, though I wish they had tong ho, Kabocha pumpkin, and taro slices. I opted for some white shimeji mushrooms (seafood mushrooms), shiitake, lotus root, and tofu skin. There's also some dim sum (but I would avoid these since they've been sitting a while and are fairly dried out from the heat lamps. The sauce bar is quite nice and has all the stuff you want from a Chinese hotpot place (for me it would be the satay sauce, undiluted which takes the cake for me). They have 6 soup bases for you to choose from, and I opted for mala spicy, extra spicy level. while the broth isn't terrible spicy, it's good enough for the price point. they also offer skewers (chicken or beef) for you to sample and order more later if so desired. For me, the skewers had a bit of a fatty taste to them but they were still good enough to have more of. there will be a couple gristly bits but I'm not expecting that much for AYCE skewers. They also have a selection of beverages including canned soda and some juices, but I opted for water since I don't drink much sugar. They also have a toppings bar to add to your drink. Their policy is only not to be wasteful. One thing I noticed was that you use a pair a tongs like at an Asian bakery to grab everything which definitely introduces cross contamination, but they cook it in the end so I don't think there's much risk of food borne illness. Overall I think it's a really good deal. $20 gets you a large variety, I don't see many places offering this much variety for the price point. The servers were also nice and efficient, checking every so often to clear used dishes or ask if you want to order some skewers. I would come back again more often if I weren't trying to slim down a bit right now but if I ever want to stuff myself for $20 I know where to go now! (Not sure if this is a promotional price because their menu says otherwise but based on reading other reviews they may have lowered everything to one base price.) For the skewers, we only had chicken and beef today. The cumin seasoning was quite strong, and the taste was just average. 2.4 stars This was one of the restaurants I bookmarked a while back, but it turned into an ayce hot pot place before I tried the og menu. The lady who seated me was quite lovely, so I do feel bad for giving this place such a low score. This is the gripe I had: Beverages: juices and water are free, but I think they're just syrup in water. At least bring back the sodas like they had shown in previous reviews? 1/5 stars Vegetables: some vegetables are ok, but the ones that need to be rehydrated have a certain sink-water smell to it. So, that would be the rehydrated mushrooms. Even after the kitchen cooked it in the broth, it still had that strange smell/taste. 2/5 stars Meat: there is a variety of plain and marinated, but I only stuck to beef and shrimp. Both were actually decent. 3.5/5 stars Noodles: there is a small variety as well. Unfortunately, I picked the bean thread and it didn't turn out soft...it was the snap-apart variety. 3/5 stars Broth: the mala was mid and the tom yum was really bad. 1/5 stars Hot food bar: there's a small selection of dim sum and rice, noodles, and sides. Of everything I tried, I liked the fried rice, tofu, and string beans the most. 3.5/5 stars There's free parking. Service is a mixed bag...I only know the lady helping me was nice, but the others weren't super great. The restroom was clean, which I appreciated. And there is free parking on site. $20 AYCE hot pot, dim sum, and skewers all day! This deal is unbelievable which is probably why they seemed overwhelmed. The concept is malatang vs a traditional hot pot. The soup base I got was the bone broth which was rich and flavorful. How it works: You get a bowl and tongs You get your toppings (protein, veggies, noodles etc.) You go back to the table then the server takes your broth order. While you wait, you can get dim sum and skewers. The ingredients seem fresh. The downfall, I think they are getting much busier so the dim sum was empty and the skewers were all taken each time because they would bring out so little. I asked the server if we could just please order some through them. They said no to me but I saw them dropping off other table's skewers to their tables personally. I thought this was odd because all of us had to run for our lives to get the skewers but others got special treatment. Anyway, staffing more would definitely help because everyone seemed overwhelmed, including the kitchen. Other than that, it wasn't so bad. read more

Dined in with a group of 5 people for dinner on a friday at 7:30 PM. Not busy at all. There was a huge party, but they had their own room. Price: $25.99 for dinner Parking: Plenty of space in the parking lot Value: It is decently priced with unlimited meat, vegetables, broth and two drinks you can choose from. The drinks were strawberry and mango. There are plenty of vegetables to choose from and noodles. I do wish the meat selection had more non marinated meats. Soup: you have to get the mala tang! I got it mild and it wasn't too spicy. It did have a slight kick, but perfect for people who want spicy but not too strong. Two bowls filled me up. read more

Came in around 12 on a Sunday and took almost 45 minutes to get a seat for 1 person. The staff are very clearly overwhelmed, seems like the restaurant is still trying to figure out the best service flow. The all you can eat buffet mixed with the hot pot makes it very chaotic, as a solid 30% of the people in the building are walking around getting their food. While the menu features a wide variety of foods for a very reasonable price, the hot bar and dim sum was relatively bare and poor quality. The server brought out skewers twice in the almost hour and a half I spent there, and you have no choice or ability to order them - they just have a tray with random options they hand off to customers. I ordered the medium spicy mala hot pot, and it was spicy and bland. I ended up pouring my dipping sauce into the broth, and that helped a lot. I will say the sauce bar is well stocked, and their hotpot options are solid but unlabeled - making it difficult to know what you're getting (especially for allergies!) The dim sum was also unlabeled and the staff are too busy to ask what the (maybe 4?) options are. Overall the best thing I ate was the egg fried rice from the hot bar. Don't come if you're looking for a quick bite, but for a more affordable hot pot option it's not a bad choice. read more

Amazing deal! I love that it comes with unlimited soda. The staff is very nice and friendly. The custom hot pot was great. I got spicy mild but it was still a bit too spicy for me. The beef skewers were really good and tender. The dim sum and store fried noodles/ fried rice were just average. They had a big sauce bar which was nice. 1. Please hire more staff. You guys are seriously understaffed. 2. We waited about 1 hour to be seated. Some people waited even longer. 3. We waited another 30 minutes for the hot pot to cook. 4. The skewers were very limited. The server said they would come out every 15 minutes, but it was actually about every hour. 5. Most of the food was gone, and it took a long time to refill. Overall, the service was too slow and the food was not refilled fast enough. I tried 2 broths and 1 dry malatang, and none of them were very tasty. The broths were too plain and not rich enough. It's time for an updated review, since they changed to an AYCE malatang place. There are no more menus. The interior still looks very familiar with the lanterns hanging overhead. Now, an entire wall is dedicated to ingredients you can pick for your pot There are many items to choose from, but mostly veggies, seafood balls, but not so much in the meat section. There's even an area for hot prepared foods and the sauce section is pretty extensive. How: Grab a bowl and a set of tongs pick out all the ingredients you want, go back to your table. A server will come by and ask you what type of broth you want and they'll take your bowl to the kitchen and cook everything for you. Minutes later a hot pot of food comes back to your table. Since this is AYCE, you can always go back for more. For me one pot with plenty. The only drawback is since they're cooking the meat for you. You can't control how well done it's cooked. So I have pieces that were very tough due to over cooking. Everything else was fine, and the service was pretty good. My pro tip is if you want to come do it early before the parking lot gets packed around noonish read more

Came to Mebo with my biz partner for lunch today. For starters, for the price, you can't go wrong, food and quality is on par with any restaurant. Add in all you can drink crafted and soft drinks, can't beat it. Plus the salad bar is fresh and rotated, bbq skewers are delicious too. The table arrangement is perfect allowing for comfort with a relaxed atmosphere and ambiance. Only gripe there would be the temp was a bit higher than preferred. There were 3 servers, two of them are flawless, make rounds and are attentive. Only complaint would be the 3rd server that kept coming around saying that any left overs have an extra charge... like girl, I can eat, worry about clearing the empty plates instead of the pile of BBQ beef and chicken skewers!!!!!!!! read more

Instead of cooking everything yourself at the table, you pick out what you want and build your own pot, then they cook it for you in the back and bring it out ready to eat. The soup flavors were excellent and probably what stood out the most to me. I liked being able to put together exactly what I wanted without having to manage a boiling pot the entire meal. So im going to make a pretty short review. The ambience was nice, had some interesting decor, but otherwise nothing special. The staff were nice and quick, but we came around 8:30, and for some reason we waited a very long time for our bowls. Their system is pretty nice, they have a $19.99 buffet, which you grab some stuff, put it in a pot, then they send it into a kitchen to cook. I was a bit dissapointed by the beef bone broth, as it was very bland. Seemed very watered down, and I especially waited a long time for my bowl even though it was late in the evening (9:00) and the restaurant wasn't that busy. Honestly, I think this is more of a one and done experience, since by the time we came, everything seemed to be emptied out, like drink toppings, condiments, appetizers, but maybe its better during the day. It's basically set up so you can grab the ingredients that you'd like into a large bowl, you bring it back to your table, and then waitstaff will come by to pick it up and ask for the type of broth + spiciness level you'd like. After a few minutes, they bring it back to your table for you to enjoy! The best part? ALL YOU CAN EAT! They have a wide range of ingredients here too from several types of noodles to many different vegetables and meat selections. There wasn't anything I wish they had. They also have non-hot pot AYCE options as well from noodles, rice dishes, to a small selection of dim sum! Ambiance is what you'd expect. Moderate to noisy. This place is pretty big but the room fills up quickly. It's a popular spot so be sure to come early.
